Hi I recently received a water damaged z5c. it basically turns on, boots and gets to the welcome screen and then the screen dies but the phone still appears to be on. Also the usb does not charge or connect to the pc. I took the phone apart and could only really find one place on the board where it was damaged (3 surface mount items), but they basically have disintegrated. If someone knows a proper repair forum I could ask this on, that would also be helpful as im not to sure if this is the right place
Could someone who has a schematic / experience / a spare motherboard please try and tell me what these components should be?
Also if anyone knows what these components control, that would also be great. Im assuming they are why the usb wont work.
here is a pic of the parts im looking for

I checked out a few other threads, on a couple forums and dont think anyone has been stupid enough to do this so far...
about 4 months ago, I was lost and my phone was dead, having bodged a car charger together I plugged it in.
The phone turned on, booted up and I got the SatNav software running, but before I could drive off it started flashing.. screen, lights, like a tiny disco....
Then it smoked, quite a lot for a second or two, by this time I'd took battery out and dis-connected the charger but it was too late, the phone was dead.
I got home, put the battery in a desktop charger til it was full and the phone has remained at it's current condition since.
So; it won't turn on, vibrate or flash any lights. The ONLY thing it does, is power up the right hand side bottom white light between the home key and back button.
I've been Ebaying since the day I killed it for a spares one, tried buying a main board but no joy anywhere without paying over £70 (and that's for a complete but knackered handset).
My dad's good with phones, his mate better also both of which said i've burnt out some chips. Some do kinda, have small 'holes' in, and I wiped a 2GB card too, wont work in anything else.
Without spending silly amounts on a new phone can I not do anything with this? Apparently everything except the main board should work (screen, digitizer etc)..
Help anyone please? -ta.
I suggest that you contact your local support team because I think this is something that needs to be examined at a repair center.

I dropped my X10a, and cracked the screen/digitizer. Is it easier to replace the whole housing or just the digitizer? Any suggestions on which company supplies OEM parts at the best prices?

Hi,
My client's child drowned my S2 i9100 phone into Nescafe (instant coffee).
I dried it in the sun and after a while I tried to turn it on but it was not turn on.
I hooked it up to a charger and turned it on - and what happened is that the phone start, start-up sound plays, but nothing is displayed on the touch screen exept the left and right buttons at the bottom that working.
In addition, when I connect the device to my computer, the computer recognizes the hardware, but not "read" it and after few seconds "forget" and disconnect (i only hear the sounds of that- not actually see it on "my computer"). And I have the phone S2 i9100 driver on your computer.
I opened the device myself (of course I separated the battery and sim card) and started to clean the connections of the sockets.
But the phone still remains in the same situation.
My friend work in a mobile lab and he told me that the screen was destroyed and needs replacing.
My question is:
How can I make sure that the problem is really on the touch screen or a specific area in the logic board?
Touch screen on ebay $ 20
Logic board costs $ 80
I do not want to make a mistake and buy at $ 20 and then, to note that the problem was in the logic board, then buy some more at $ 80.
Thanks,
Rami
If your friend is a mobile phone tech, shouldn't he at the very least be able to diagnose whether it's one, the other or both

Make the client pay for the reparrations...buy a new screen and mainboard.
Get 99 % alcohol abd sink it, wait for it to dry up (could do the rice thing) and after a couple of days turn it on.

Also, about the friend:
He told me that the fix for the phone is 350$. this kind of friend.
Hey guys, I have an LG G3 with a broken charging port (does not appear to accept a charge from the original cable).
I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem and has been able to fix it?
I am capable of taking the phone apart and experimenting, however it seems as if the port itself is more difficult to access, even after disassembling the phone.
Let me know if you have any fixes I can try to attempt to get the phone to receive a charge once again, thanks!

Send it back to be fixed or replaced. Phone hasn't been released for a year yet, so its still under warranty.
Ahh thank you for the info. You see I actually have two of these now. Mine, which is in excellent condition, and a second one I received that has a cracked top glass screen and damaged rear cover.
Do you know if they will fix the USB for free if I replace the glass and back cover? I don't see why that would make a difference if I am not asking them to replace either of the obviously broken-by-use components.
I guess I will give them a call and find out for myself. I'll edit this post if I find out news, just for anyone else who may encounter something similar.
Thank you.
EDIT:
So I've decided not to send the phone back to be looked at. After examining the port, it is clearly broken, and while it still appears to allow the cord to plug-in, it is obviously broken. I've decided to just spend 18$ on Ebay for a new Backdoor with wireless charging compatibility and see how that works out.

i would defiantly repair the other items before sending it in. no reason to give them an excuse to not repair the port, if you are going to fix the other items anyways.
Hello there
I was wondering if anyone with good electronics knowledge and practical experience with the Z2 could help me.
The issue:
My phone will only respond to touch correctly when sitting in a desk, without its (metal) body being in contact with my hands.
Backstory:
So my Z2's screen has recently stopped responding to touch in a vertical line. It has always been very well handled so mechanical damage was out of the question.
Today I decided to open up the phone, and to my surprise I found a loose screw (which as we know is also part of the ground circuit) inside the phone. I tightened it back up hoping that would fix the problem but it didn't. I tightened all the other screws and replugged the flexes but nothing helped.
At this point I was sure I would have to buy a new screen but then I discovered something very interesting; the phone will respond to touch perfectly IF I'm not touching the body (just the screen). If I pick up the phone from a desk it will start missing touches in the same very specific vertical line again. I was baffled by this, but it gave me hope that perhaps the whole problem is just a loose cable somewhere, but I'm out of ideas, so any help would be greatly apreciated.
What I've tried so far:
1- I connected a cable from the phone's GND to my body, and indeed the phone would miss touches even if it was sitting in a desk. As soon as i disconnect the cable from my body it will respond to touch perfectly as long as it is sitting in a table.
2- Due to that, Im assuming the phone's body must be isolated from the phone's GND. A quick multimeter check tells me there is no continuity between the phone's body and GND, which I'm assuming is how it's meant to be. Then again, the phone's external metal body seems to be non conductive, so there could be no continuity to GND anyway. Please correct me if any assumptions made here are wrong.
3- The phone's body seems to be non conductive (even though it is metal, perhaps aluminum?), which only makes things more confusing because me touching the body or not shouldn't affect how the screen registers touches.
4- At this point you might have thought that it may have something to do with gravity causing whatever is loose to sit in its place when the phone is in a table, and to become loose when it is picked up. To test this I've tried placing the phone vertically in a table, and as long as im not touching the metal body, it will still respond to touch perfectly, so gravity is not the problem.
5- The phone is 4 months out of warranty so, I can't get it exchanged or repaired for free.
I've ran out of ideas, and dont know where to look now, but i know I'm pretty close to finding the issue, so I'm asking the community for suggestions, as I'm pretty sure the digitizer works well. The problem must be somewhere else.
Apparently I'm not allowed to post links until I've posted atleast 10 times, but here is a video (not mine) with someone with exactly the same problem as me: /watch?v=MBE0JI_j2qU

Hey everyone,
I tried popping open my phone and doing the DIY GPS fix of lifting the prongs and camera lens replacement, I think I ended up damaging something with the heat from the hair dryer... cus after I reassembled my mobile everything popped back into place but now the phone is just giving one buzz and a black screen when I press the power button.
I tried connecting the charger but no response, even the LED for charging is not lighting up. Any idea what I must've done wrong or how I can get it fixed?
thanks for the advice
Doesn't sound good. I'm not familiar with the mod you performed but doing these kinds of things are hazardous if your not careful and even if you are.
Is your devices recognized when you connect it to a computer? In MS Windows you might see something show up in device manager. I would open up the device again, disassemble / reassemble, and hope it comes back to life. This has happened to be in the past and the issue would mysteriously resolve itself.
Maybe pop out back apart and make sure all the flex cables are connected properly if not. Sorry for your loss
