Where is my Damn update (Middle East) - LG G5 Questions & Answers

Hi,
Obviously, in Saudi Arabia we are the last people to enjoy anything including the simplest sort of stuff (software update).
But never mind, xda has always been there for me.
My H860 (no N no A) LG G5 is still Marshmallow.
Donald Trump call us "Middle East", so please where in the hell is my Middle East LG G5 H860 Nougat 7.0 update?
Any link for God sake??

hahaha get rekt we the h860 most likely never receive the update

Korean phone...not AmeriKlan! lol Yes, I'm Black!!! Not that that matters anyways. But, it's Korean...we also have to wait, while they're phones receive security updates, timely! Oh, wait, it's always a...(Red Tape issue!?!)
That guy, who's name you mentioned, that I WILL NOT! Yes, I am in this Country, but nope, won't mention his name. It would be racist to call him, what Hillary calls him LOL Imagine that!!!

Same here dude, my G5 H860 is from Saudi Arabia and still waiting for the update.

There you go guys, I received notification of new update, but it is only 428 megabytes. I don't think it is Nougat 7.0 but certainly going to install it in few minutes to see what it is.
Check S.S

Apparently it is December 20 security update plus extra stability stuff.
Nothing else, still Marshmallow

Yep just December security update, no sign of 7.0 yet, no response for any tweets from LG as well. Guess we are the most neglected market for any smartphone manufacturer except apple who do a worldwide release.

Very bad!!!
Next time I am gonna try Pixel XL 128GB.
I think I am gonna explore Google products, they may have the first priority for any update regardless of region.

Hi, why are you in hurry to upgrade to Nougat, my H850 have lost over 12 hours autonomy since i had it.

Can anyone please check if hotspot still works with latest firmware 10m on h860?
My hotspot used to work flawlessly but after the update all I see is after I start it it would show that it's on and the icon top left shows 0 connected but when I search for it on my other device, there's no wifi and within those 10-15 secs it automatically switches off.
Can anyone confirm this?

Hi rjpaul,
I have seen great reviews on split screen, extra doze (data saver) and battery life.
Though, I am afraid of some of the negative comments about the new operating system.
By the way I noticed google is following alphabetic orders in operating systems
J K L M N: Jeally bean; Kitkat; Lollipop; Marshmallow; Nougat
Maybe the next operating system will start with O letter.. probably they would name it "google Omlet" haha lol.

Nope, the Android Wear updates are coming directly from google. All Android Wear watches are like nexus devices.
Yes they are all updated from Google servers, but Google are fairly random with all their updates, the order they do them in never makes any sense to anyone, least of all them.
Here is how the update rollouts work. This applies to Nexus updates, Google app updates, and Android Wear updates. http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/1r1dz4/44_kitkat_has_started_rolling_out_on_the_n4/cdiwt6f
It is, mostly.
Rollouts are conducted in phases. Typically they start at 1% of devices for around 24 - 48 hours; we watch the return rates and resulting device checkins and error reports (if any), and make sure nothing looks wrong before sending it to more. Then typically it goes to 25%, 50%, 100% over the course of a week or two.
What the percentages mean is that when your device checks in, it has a 1% chance (for example) of being offered the OTA. If it doesn't (randomly) get an offer, it will never get an offer until the next batch.
IOW, once your device checks in and gets turned down, that's it until the next batch. Mashing on the "check for updates" button just causes your device to check in again, and get automatically turned down again. Think about how that makes your device feel! WON'T SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF THE PHONES?!
That said, once the new batch does start, hitting that button does give you a new roll of the dice -- but once. Since devices usually only check in for system updates every 24 hours (I think? Certainly on a many-hours basis) this can get you your shot sooner than it would happen on its own.
So, mash away. Just be patient, and mashing on it more often than once or twice a day isn't going to gain you anything.
Edit: also, keep in mind that this isn't first-come/first-served. You're not racing other devices to get your slot in the current batch, or something.

Yes, but what I meant is the order that devices get it, not individual units.
Looks like it may be rolling out today.

It seems to push notifications to the watch quicker (before it would always lag a second or two) and there seems to be a lot more options, like having a flashlight, the ability to change font sizes, etc.

Thanks for the response guys, I already changed the video link so it should be watchable this time.
I mean even after I unticked(turned off) auto-brightness and maxed out the brightness, I found it still active when I brought the device to a dark place as the display gradually went dim, the auto-brightness reactivated and deactivated itself when checked, so strange.
I'm on 10d but I still have the problem /:

Ugh, that is not a G5, it's a G5 SE, probably it will be fixed in next updates but who knows...

SO.. Where is the kdz or tot for the H820?

Well, after months of exhaustive searching and trawling the deep dark corners of the internet, i can finally say: THERE IS NO FRICKING FIRMWARE FOR THIS PHONE!
Ok, venting done. The AT&T variant really does seem to not have any firmware available anywhere. I would like to throw this little request out there. If anyone has a line on the firmware, please please please share. It would save crap-ton of us with borked or messed up phones out there.
Thanks!
AT&T Has not released the firmware and probably won't for another year or so they are very stingy with firmware because they don't make money on repairs if someone can just fix their problem with flashing the firmware themselves

And for this very reason AT&T are A55#0L35... We probably won't get Nougat until the G6 is here or worse - we'll just be left out cold altogether like they did us with the Optimus G (didn't get KitKat, everyone else did).
Perhaps soon we should leave AT&T out of our wallets.
I thought legally they had to make it available

Ah don't worry. Already tried it. Don't. Your phone will be stuck in download mode. I have and that's the state i ended up in. Does not really matter since the phone is already borked.
AT&T can go suck on a hairy donkey knee. What sort of stupidity leads to decisions like these??? After the debacle that was my V10 from at&t, i am never buying another phone that came from them... Excepting the Nexus phones. No point whatsover

Question US update status for the A52 5G - where's everybody at?

I'm currently holding the A526U1 bought unlocked and on Metro as a carrier - my CSC appears to be TMK. (Unrooted, though I probably don't need to specify that with that U1) As of right now I still haven't gotten the Android 12 update, though a friend with the A52 5G on T-Mobile has, and that was about a week ago. I sort of expected to get mine pretty soon afterwards, with Metro being owned by T-Mobile and all, but nope, not the case. Was wondering where everyone else in the US is on the update, both on the large carriers and the smaller ones. I'm curious as to whether we're "mostly there" or still just getting started on the rollout.
Actually, it says on the T-Mobile website that their latest update is 12. https://www.t-mobile.com/support/de...a52-5g/software-updates-samsung-galaxy-a52-5g - I haven't asked him what model number he has, but he otherwise has the A52 5G and lives in the northeastern US just like I do. So it's definitely here, but not on my model/CSC.
Ah, yeah! I provided the info about my particular model but really was curious about the full, wider net in the US; my bad not clarifying further on that part!

Ooh haha gotcha, okay that lines up with the other T-Mobile release - I guess they probably put that out nationwide. The U1 still doesn't have the update as of today, which I find curious. I also got the latest security patch just a few days ago.. I will say, there seems to be some glitches in this latest Android. For instance when typing sometimes the keyboard just disappears.. Plus the soft keys disappear and I can not exit back to the home screen.. This is mostly after watching videos online.. And a few times when I had the phone app open, I could not view recent calls or access my contacts, except opening up the contact app.

My friend on T-Mobile says he's gotten at least two follow-up patches after the main patch and was actually complaining about having to update so often, to which I said "dude you WANT those patches after a big OS update, they're cleaning up stuff that you're otherwise going to run into" - and I'd guess this is a good example of some of that stuff they haven't gotten to yet. I still have not received the new update, interestingly - I'm not sure whether Metro is being careful not to release a update that isn't quite finished baking or if my exact model isn't prioritized, but it would be nice to think that the version I end up with is a little more polished than the one you're having to deal with (boy figuring out quotes took me a hot second)
This is what I was talking about. The missing soft keys. They came back after swiping to take a screen shot

That's very weird. Okay Metro if you want to take your time making sure I don't gotta deal with that I'm cool honestly. Tho tbh this patch from Android 11 I'm on I have weird activity happen with Gboard - Gboard will try to activate but end up flashing open and then shut again, sometimes with what may be a real flash of noise on the screen that is hard for my eyes to actually detect. It's hard to predict when it will happen but it happens often enough! On the videos, not even scrolling back upwards makes the soft keys come back? (I ask because scrolling down in the gallery makes them disappear for me until I go up again)
Nope not even scrolling. I have let the screen time out then open again. Then the keys reappear.

I have the same exact model as you: A526U1, but I'm unlocked on AT&T. I too still do not have the Android 12/One UI 4 update. So it's definitely not a Metro thing that's holding up your update. I think they haven't updated it because not every carrier has finished testing it? Really not sure, but I'm super frustrated that other A52 5Gs got it here in the US but not the U1.
I do (and I assume you also do) have the January security patch.

I recently found that information that said that unlocked phones need to be tested on every carrier before being updated, and truthfully at this point seeing the bugs that they're still working through, I feel like that might come out as an advantage for us unlocked users? I'm not sure if it works the way I think it works but it's almost like everybody who isn't unlocked ends up beta testing for the unlocked users?
I do have the January security patch like you, but yeah, no big update yet. But I've contented myself with that on the logic above.
For anyone curious, I received the update last night for my unlocked A52 5G on Metro - so far I haven't noticed any bugs - in fact I think some minor issues I had seen with my display are gone? But there's still time lol. Hex theming is running successfully on it, as a sidenote
I actually got my update for Android 12 and One UI 4.0 a couple weeks ago and another security patch about a week later. From what I have read it has only been released for the A52 5G phones that are not carrier locked. Mine is the SM-A526U and I use with MetroPCS. So far I haven't had any issues with my updates and everything is working good. I did flash a custom GCAM 8.3 port from the new Google Pixel before the 12 update but both camera apps work pretty well with GCAM only having slightly better features. It does take some tinkering with as the ported app at first would take between 1-2 seconds to actually take the picture
