Outside of forums or blogs is the a better way to check for nougat availability on this phone? Purchased this phone as a gift for Christmas and I'm hoping for an update before it's gifted.

This website shows the most recent updates it's found for Sony devices. Here's the link to the Xperia X Compact, it already shows that Nougat's been released for a couple regions but nothing for the US or UK so far.

Got the notification about the update today. Downloaded the update and installed it, now my phone is in a bootloop. Didn't root or unlocked the bootloader... this is not cool.
How can I access the recovery to hard reset everything? Guess it's the only way now

if you follow the link by lenash, xperifirm will always tell you in real time when and how far across country's the update has come.
why wait for others to discover it when you can yourself.

But nothing is confirmed as yet & thats the problem Even I'm waiting for Sony or Kamarush to release a JB ROM for locked bootloader, since I can't install custom kernels because of bad blocks in NAND flash

I know but I think its more likely to have an update on the way because definitely sony dosen't want to make expectations and then disappoint users by refusing that. If they do I rather say they don't know anything about commercial politics.

The latest is the .314 firmware now. You should receive an OTA or should be able to install using the PC companion software from Sony. For the OTA, it's a staged rollout so you'll receive it when you do! Hope this helps

It was released a few weeks ago (2-3 weeks I think?) and depending on where you are, the rollout is still going on so give it time. Some people have had luck plugging their phones into their laptops and using the Sony software to check for an update and they haven't received an OTA so maybe try that.

Sony has not announced when 4.4.4 will come to the Z2.
And the function to move to SD is only for the 4.4.4 firmware of T3. It doesn't mean that all Xperia phones will get this function. The Z1 already has 4.4.4 but no move to SD function.

Seems to be a Vodafone update as all the eu vodafone carriers seem to have it

Sony Xperia Z Ultra C6806
Nice! I didn't really worry about the difference other than the broadband/modem driver is updated (yeah!!) and I have to say I get slightly better reception using this than stock 108. I loaded this, did the One Click Root and then added Superuser and everything is great! Battery life appears good too except that I am running OPG Pro so I don't know how much is OPG Pro and how much is the new ROM. Definitrly worth the troulble to load and try out.. I like it!!!

In any case, I think that Aun's Android 9 is not needed, I think any version of android 9 for projectors is enough, but I can't find any online.

Hi,
I wouldn't say that, because your projector and others have different components, hence different ROMs and Kernels.
This company isn't serious at all if they didn't replied, I guess you'll have to stay with Android 6. But whatever you do don't flash another firmware that the one for your specific device, it may brake it!

this is very frustrating because it is an excellent projector, unlike many others of this segment.
it is a real shame not to be able to upgrade it, especially because on many e-commerce sites they advertise it as upgradeable by the manufacturer, (see attached image) but on the manufacturer's website there is no area where there are updates, drivers or firmware, and they not respond to requests for assistance.
