Acer Chromebook 14 dev mode, PlayStore disappears after restart - Chromebooks

Hi,
i've succesfully installed PlayStore on my acer chromebook 14 cb3-431 using the classic procedure but it disappears everytime after os restart.
If i enter in the shell and i write the procedure it appear with all the relative apps.
Is it normal or is possibile fix it in some way? Is quite boring to enter in the shell everytime...
Thanks in advance!

For chromebooks not with official Play Store, you need to reinput the script. You android program reload without doing anything.

[Q] can I use "rdate" to set time on the Nook?

I have busybox installed on my Nook Tablet and I noticed in the terminal (I installed a terminal app on the Nook so I can get a shell) that "rdate" is installed.
The date and time on my Nook are wrong and the only way I have found to change the time requires that I somehow get my time to UTC (it is not a choice on my device) and then use the adb command to change the system time. I do not know how to install adb but it appears to involve installing the Android SDK on a Windows computer and it seems a bit complicated to do this just to change the time on the Nook.
My Nook is rooted and I am able to install and use apps from Android Market.
So the question is: Can I simply use the rdate command (as root) to change the system time on the NT?
BTW I checked and ntpdate is NOT installed on the Nook. rdate would involve connecting to a time server to change the time to the time given by the server.
I also found a post on another forum where someone indicated that setting the time correctly will allow the Nook to be registered with B&N. Of course, I have patched the Nook so that the upgrade to 1.4.1 of the firmware will not happen.
thanks

You can install Clocksync app from Android Market. It's free, highly configurable and can do autoadjust clock if your device is rooted.

Adding Ubuntu to your Chromebook laptop "dual-boot" Guide

Unleash the full potential of your Chromebook
HEAR WE GO
"NOTE"Some older Chromebooks have a physical switch that you'll have to flip in order to turn on Developer Mode. If you aren't sure, look up instructions for your specific device on enabling Developer Mode.
"Developer Mode"
Press and hold the Esc and Refresh keys together, then press the Power button (while still holding the other two keys). This will reboot your Chromebook into Recovery Mode.
As soon as you see Recovery Mode pop up—the screen with the yellow exclamation point—press Ctrl+D. This will bring up a prompt asking if you want to turn on Developer Mode.
Press Enter to continue, then give it some time. It'll pop up with a new screen for a few moments, then reboot and go through the process of enabling Developer Mode. This may take a little while (about 15 minutes or so), and will wipe your local information.
When it's done, it will return to the screen with the red exclamation point. Leave it alone until it reboots into Chrome OS.
If you have any confusion on going into Developer mode here is a quick video= http://youtu.be/pLAwqNyVqYg
Installation
Download "Crouton" and save it in your Downloads folder. http://www.mediafire.com/download/4410vlwkbrol0me/crouton "NOTE" If you have any problems Downloading from the link I always keep backups.
Press Ctrl+Alt+T to bring up a terminal on your Chromebook. At the Terminal, run the following command to enter a Ubuntu shell:
shell
Next, run the following command to install Crouton:
sudo sh -e ~/Downloads/crouton -t xfce
If you're doing this on a Chromebook Pixel, change it to:
sudo sh -e ~/Downloads/crouton -t touch,xfce
to get touch screen support. Recommended: You can also encrypt your new desktop with a password for extra security using the -e flag (since Developer Mode inherently decreases the security of your machine).
Let your computer install Crouton. This might be a good time to grab a cold beer or a juice box. When it's done it'll ask you for a username and password for your new Ubuntu installation, so enter them when prompted.
After it's finished installing, run the following command to start your new desktop environment:
sudo startxfce4 :highfive:
If you want Ubuntu's Unity interface instead of the XFCE desktop environment, you'd change instances of "xfce" to "unity" (no quotes) in the above commands, including the last command (which would become "startunity"). You can also install LXDE or KDE if you prefer. See the Crouton GitHub page for more info on what you can do, and our guide to desktop environments for the difference between each one.
Now, you can switch back and forth between Chrome OS and Ubuntu using Ctrl+Alt+Shift+Back and Ctrl+Alt+Shift+Forward (if you're on an ARM-based Chromebook) or Ctrl+Alt+Back and Ctrl+Alt+Forward (If you're on an Intel-based Chromebook). You will also need to press Ctrl+Alt+Refresh after pressing Ctrl+Alt+Forward to bring up the desktop. To exit the Linux desktop, just log out of it like you would on a normal PC—you'll close it completely and go back to Chrome OS (after which you can run sudo startxfce4 again to go back)
Your desktop won't come with very many programs installed. You'll find that even a lot of default Ubuntu tools are left out, so you'll have to install them yourself using apt-get. If you're on an ARM-based Chromebook, not all apps will be compatible. Intel users will be much better off
If you're using XFCE, you should disable the screensaver, which can cause graphics issues in Chrome OS.
The Downloads folder in Chrome OS is the same as the Downloads folder on the Linux desktop, so if you download or create a file in one environment, you can put it in the Downloads folder to make it available in the other as well.
If you're on a high resolution display like the Chromebook Pixel, your icons will be very, very tiny. The Crouton wiki has a few options for fixing this, though none are quite perfect. You either deal with a few tinier buttons or you go to a more standard resolution. Since your Chromebook is in Developer Mode, it will take an extra 30 seconds to boot up, since it shows you the Developer Mode message. You can skip this by pressing Ctrl+D.P
Lastly, if you want to remove your Linux desktop and go back to regular ol' Chrome OS, you can just reboot your Chromebook and press spacebar when it prompts you to re-enable OS verification. This will remove Crouton and restore Chrome OS in its original state.P
That's it! Now you have a fully working Linux desktop on top of Chrome OS, and you can switch between them whenever you want with a quick keystroke. This makes those great but seemingly dumbed-down Chromebooks a lot more useful (not to mention tempting)
works 100% on my Acer Chromebook
"NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGED DEVICES""NEITHER IS XDA DEVELOPERS"
Thanks for this tutorial as it has pushed me from contemplating to buying a chrome book now.
help please it works until I type in sudo s-he command it says access to downloads
Has been denied how do I fix it??
Factory Reset Chrombook?
If I install Ubuntu, can I keep ChromeOS as it is untouched, or do I have to factory reset my Chromebook to factory new settings? I don't want to factory reset my Chromebook but still be able to switch between ChromeOS and Ubuntu.
All looks like I have got developers mode and the terminal opens fine BUT when I try the first step I get "ERROR: unknown command: shell"
the help command etc work fine just not "shell" I am trying to do this on a Toshiba Chromebook 2 any help would be great thanks.

[Q] [ROOT] Kindle Fire HD 7.4.8

Im trying to root my kindle fire hd (version 7.4.8)
Every time i use Kindle Fire First Aide on the command prompt it says that i have a system path not specified error.
My laptop operating system is windows 8 ( I have not upgraded yet to latest version so I don't know if that's the problem)
Any Help would be appreciated
Steps I Used
1. Download KFFA
2. Opened KFFA using cmd
3. Used option 21 : Alternative root: newer devices
4. Says system path is not specified
5. It starts a daemon but thats all it does
P.S Im not sure but it also looks like i have a adb problem
I turned on the ADB with usb and used the adb drivers in KFFA but it never works
I'm having a similar problem.
I've had my kindle rooted for several months now, and I'm sure that I had turned auto updating off...however, this update (7.4.8) was forced on me a couple of weeks ago, and now I've lost the ability to usefully run Google Play (it keeps giving me a 'no connection' error). I also cannot update any programs that were obtained through google play.
A few things that I have noticed:
BusyBox Installer says that my Kindle is rooted, but cannot install BusyBox, or run any of the scripts.
KFFA cannot access my Kindle. I have tried several proceedures on the forums to rectify this problem, to no avail. I have tried with several cables including the original, and the cable that I previously successfully rooted my kindle with.
My kindle has started showing ads on the lock screen at times, which was something I disabled with KFFA when I first rooted my kindle.
I do have momentary adb access while booting, but it gets disconnected as soon as the lock screen appears and I cannot reconnect
same problem here, can't manage to root kindle with 7.4.8
RE:
Well then i guess it will only work if you brick your kindle to reboot over and over then root and use kffa to root it then unbrick it using it and i think it will work let me try
Successfully rooted Kindle Fire HD 7.4.8
Hi,
So this morning I reset to factory my KFHD 7.4.8. Clean start...
1/ install KFFirstAid from geekappz.blogspot.com/2013/02/root-kindle-fire-hd-and-2-with-windows.html
I did install the 64bit version on my windows 7.
2/ execute all installation steps of KFFA as explained in the link above until reaching C-1 root step 10 (do that step 10).
3/ connect your kindle to your computer via USB
4/ the runme.bat in KFFA depends on another system package called busybox. Great package but... you cannot install from amazon store on a fresh kindle, and the installation via the runme.bat does not work. I decided to do without busybox... So replace the original runme.bat in C:/KFFirstAid by the one attached. I edited the sections 18 and 21 (i "rem"ed some lines, and put the corrected code just below). I edited only these two options. (means do not ask about the others...)
(site did not upload the file, so here is a link to it... drive.google.com/file/d/0ByEA1ADGX9vNS2RKUEdKYnN6Uk0/edit?usp=sharing)
5/ launch "my" runme.bat.
6/ select option 21. This will root the kindle. Follow the instructions (including the full restore at the beginning). It will reboot quite a few times, just be patient... (very). Your kindle may seem up and running, but the adb communication may take a few more minutes to go through...
At the end, superuser.apk is installed, look for it in the command window log. When done, on your kindle, start supersu and let it update itself. Verify root access with root check basic.
7/ return to the main menu of runme.bat,
8/ select option 18. This will install google play. Follow the instructions, including the registration to google on the kindle, in the middle of the installation. During this registration i experienced a few "application stopped working", but it went through anyway... so do not panic...
Again, a lot of reboots...
That's all folks... (takes about two hours...)
Successfully Rooted KFHD 7.4.9
Still works for KFHD 7.4.9
Replaced some "mv" commands by "dd" commands to workaround a cross device link error, in the runme.bat file.

Need help fixing kindle fire hd6 (4th) gen

So right now I have no home menu for my kindle fire as that application. Is broken.. Also I need help getting adb installed, because windows 10 is rediclous. My idea was to install 5.1.2 os launcher. or other wise known as amazon launcher. Which is responsible for homenu via adb. (my fire is rooted so no need to flip over that) But overall I need someway of getting the launcher or just simply reinstalling 5.1.2 but I like I said. I need adb to be properly installed and windows 10 is not working with me on this. (and its also annoying to know that microsoft forced my shift right click for command prompt to power shell. so I have to type cmd every single time.)
UPDATE: I forced installed through adb a older version of the fire os which works fie. however I lost my option to side load through adb, or apply updates through adb... how do i fix that? the version I have at the moment is now 4.5.3

[Need Help] mistake Installing linux! stuck in SeaBIOS.... can anyone help fix it?

So, in the last few days I tried to put gallium OS on my Chromebook, following this -- https://wiki.galliumos.org/Installing/Preparing and this -- https://wiki.galliumos.org/Installing --
But instead of using http://mrchromebox.tech's firmware installer, I used https://johnlewis.ie which basically does the same thing but I only did the boot_stub custom firmware thinking I could restart and still do the RW_Legacy, but when I rebooted it went to the seaBIOS and when I try to boot to my hard drive with Chrome OS on it, it started the code to boot Chrome OS, but then booted to a black screen and will not open Chrome OS. Then I put in the bootable USB drive for Gallium OS, restarted and tried to boot from it, but it said "booting from Hard disk" and just sat on that screen and would not boot. I tried Linux Mint cinnamon, it did the same thing. I also tried reinstalling Chrome but it would not recognize it as an operating system. So anyone that can help me with this please, my mom is going to kill me if I don't fix it, all I need is an operating system that I can open the terminal and run the code to get the RW Legacy and then I will be fine (unless there's a way to open the terminal or shell from SeaBiOS). Does anyone know of an operating system that does not need RW Legacy and works with only seaBIOS and the original Chromebook firmware?
(if there's an easier way that you know of please, please, please, please, tell me because, again, my mom is going to kill me if I don't fix it)
