So, there many ways to root a device and on samsung case you can flash a custom recovery using Odin and then flash root package using recovery.
Try some rooting apps if there's no custom recovery for your device.

If it was released this month, the only thing you can do is try some generic rooting apps, maybe have a exploit which works, or YOU port TWRP to it.

Depends how you update. Just don't update with ota or pc companion.
1 Downgrade to 4.4.2
2 Root phone
3 Install recovery for locked bootloader
4 Flash rooted 4.4.4 zip in recovery
5 latest firmware and root remains
I am new to Sony devices (been a Samsung guy for years). I have had my Z2 less than a fortnight but already I'm itching to root it etc, problem is it seems a lot more complicated than Samsung devices. I was always switching between roms on my S4/note 2. I am on the latest firmware and would like to root it to be able to use xposed but I'm scared of messing it up and as the phone is under warranty don't want to end up with a paper weight.
Has anyone done a detailed tutorial for newbies like myself?
Thanks in advance
Scotty.

It's not really that hard and there are also of resources online that can guide you.
1 Downgrade to 4.4.2 is required as noone had found a vulnerability with 4.4.4.
2 Root phone
For step 1 and 2, Have a look at this http://www.xda-developers.com/android/how-to-root-the-sony-xperia-z2-xda-developer-tv/
3 install recovery for lock bootloader
Have a look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785598
4 install a 4.4.4 zip through recovery. I recommend this one as its basically stock http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/development/stock-4-4-4-23-0-1-0-167-bug-free-t2929402

i tried towelroot, frama root, kingo root none of them works,my device need to wait for supported version,i want to root my phone by flashing ROOTGalaxyJ1.zip'' using CWM like the old days but i dont know how to make the zip
Yes, same like me, I try all of them but no one is done. Its should flash with cwm and flash with zip file. But I don't know how to make it.
I honestly regret buying this J1. No root.zip file for it. I was using an S4 until the screen cracked
Let's wait patiently. There'll be one when the time comes. But until then, just wait and smile ... Just for your info, backup and restore can be done through Helium. Even without root. Also, google app automatic backup and restore did wonders for me. Let me fill google keyboard data wirelessly and silently.

Hey there guys, actually I bought an iVOOMi Me3 recently and I wanted a phone with Android Oreo, but this phone has Android nougat (7.0) and I had to settle due to low budget. And also this phone isn't much popular so I can't find any guides for rooting it and I can't find TWRP or CWM for it. And I wanna get it rooted and install a custom recovery. Also, I need a ROM with Android Oreo(8.0) or at least 7.1.1 or 7.1.2. Please help!

Kingroot won't work+I don't trust that at all. Anyway, I got rid of my ivoomi in 6 months. And now have a moto and am happy developing roms for it(even got official maintainership for cosp), anyway, rooting is easy. Just unlock your bootloader, and flash twrp using fastboot and then flash magisk. It's not that tough, but you can quote me if you run into any issues. Thanks!

I'm trying to root a Samsung G7.
Here is some info on it:
Model: SM-G930A
Android Version: 6.0.1
Build#: MMB29M.G930AUCS4APK1
I am new to rooting and messing with phones and stuff so I've been using a lot of YouTube and xda forums to try and figure out how to root this phone.
I've tried all the one click roots from this list, https://www.xda-developers.com/best-one-click-root-2018/
After that, I started looking at tutorials on YouTube that used a computer and USB to root a phone. From there, I learned that Odin is a thing and people use it. So I tried that out, but I couldn't find the right boot.img for my specific model of phone. The thing is, I don't know what a boot.img is or if that's even what I need.
I am currently trying out this tutorial online: https://dottech.org/199442/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-s7-sm-g930a-on-android-6-0-1-marshmallow/
I googled engboot samsung g7 (it was mentioned in the online tutorial I am currently using) and found this xda link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/how-to/engboot-s7-s7-edge-qualcomm-exynos-t3531104
Oh, and I've already setup ADB and figured out how to get into downloading mode and recovery mode.
That's where I am on my journey to rooting my Samsung G7.
I'm in need of much assistance though.

Only Exynos. The phone I am trying to root is Snapdragon. What should I do now?

I have not figured out how to update the phone.
When you say update, do you mean the Android version or the model (ex. SM-G930A)
Also, the link you sent me, is that a link to change your phones version or root the phone?
I downloaded all the files it asked me to, but in the rooting instructions it wants me to flash a .tar file that I didn't get from the downloads it linked.
