Lag after wifi disconnects in CM13 - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys!
I'm having problems with my s3, whenever he disconnects alone from the wifi network he causes lag on his cell phone, sometimes he even reboots himself, could anyone help me?
My device:
S3 (i9300)
CM13 with Boeffla Kernel updated

What exactly type of lag it is? Have You tried doing a factory reset?

The device hangs in the application and keeps locking until the wifi reconnect again alone, while not reconnecting the device becomes unusable, sometimes causes reboot of the system .. I tried factory reset already ..
sorry for the bad English

It happens only in this ROM or in every? Is it the latest cm13? It could be the fault of the system. Try reflashing it.

Only in CM13, I have reflash sometimes, yes, the last snapshot

Have you tried manual network settings?.
Does the SSID have any spaces or "other" characters that are not 0-9, A-Z?.
Make sure your wifi IP address is unique to your device.

1.yes
2. no
3. my wifi ip is unique

You're best flashing back to stock and starting over. Flash to stock, factory reset and flash the stock rom again. That way all traces of old will be removed.

I solved the problem, the update 20161220 is much better, and i've tried to fix the wifi connection, thank for all!

(SOLVED) i9100 not connecting to data automatically

I have tried with different roms and different modems and my phone always does the same thing: When it should connect to mobile data network, it just doesn't.... i have to reboot the phone for it to get data connectivity....
The APN configuration seems to be ok, they are the default ones of my carrier....
This has been happening when i was using MIUI and still happens with CM9..... its weird because no matter which modem i install, i have the same issue and the same way to solve it..... any ideas?

Maybe you have already checked it:
There is an option in settings menu for mobile data connections, which you have to enable.
If that is enabled, but still not connecting, try to wipe cache and Dalvik cache in recovery.
Good luck !

Maybe you need to contact you service provider and reinstall APN settings on you phone?
I thought the default ones were the good ones..... i will try phoning them and see if its an APN configuration issue... thanks!
This can't be.... its still not working after i entered the APN info by hand.....
I don't know what else to try...
LP7 Modem.... just did the trick... most stable modem for me.... i didn't lose connection in all the day, since i flashed it...

My problem was unable to turn on wifi, wifi stuck at the stage of turning on.... and forever like that cant off and on.
Most probably is hardware problem coz i have tried many ways to solve including flash back to stock rom, change modem, change kernel and etc.
good luck for you, hope you are not the same problem with me.

Wifi is kernel-related.
So, try to flash another kernel to test.
Or if you don't want to flash another kernel, check in menu Settings > wifi > (menu button) Advanced > Use static ip.
Try to enabled and connect.
Then disable and try to connect.
If that does not help, try to wipe cache (and Dalvik cache) in recovery mode.
Press Volume UP + Home + Power buttons as long as the recovery menu appears, then select wipe cache and reboot the phone.
P.S.: Check the configuration of your wifi router / WLAN access point, that is allows your phone to connect.
ok so i did everything again just to be sure and... my mistake! the problem starts not after the rom flashing but after cf root! have i done something wrong maybe?
I would say look for a custom rom that is already pre-rooted so then it should have all bugs to do with wifi removed.
I used to have a problem with the wifi myself which caused problems when turning it into a wireless hot spot and then wouldn't turn back off again.
But now im on the Custom Rom I am having no problems with wifi at all.
Hope this helps.

Actually, I would say try a different kernel. CF-root is a kernel. Wifi drivers are in the kernel. Ergo... ?
Wifi is kernel related issue
try changing your kernel
you mite wanna chk dis

Im having the same problem here, any luck so far?
may have something to do with the root. my phone had this issues once. just flash your phone with the correct rom and do NOT root it again as it may have something to do with the root itself. or just something got messed up during the rooting process

GS3 Freezes after disconnecting from WiFi

I recently flashed CWM onto my uncles GS3 and rooted his current rom. I made a backup and then tried out a new AOSP rom, which we decided not to keep because my uncle did not like it. But now, returning to the old rooted stock rom, every time the phone disconnects from wifi, it completely freezes up on the lock screen. Pressing the lock button does not shut off the screen and instead just locks it. You are unable to unlock it as the phone completely freezes up. The only way to get into the phone is to double tap home to get into the voice commands, and then go to home from there.
But even after that the phone continues to freeze. I tried another ROM on his phone today, but the problem still persisted a while later. It all happens when the phone is connected to wifi, and you walk out of range. After which the phone starts to freeze up.
I'm totally unsure whats going on. I just flashed the rom again, and we are trying a clean slate with no restoring of any data. It may have started to happen after we installed root browser (just as a guess), but we could be completely wrong.
If this continues again on this rom as well (which is Revolution HD) Im going to go back to completely stock (rom & recovery), and hope it still doesn't persist there. If not then I am out of options, and I have no clue what to do.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. We spent so many hours today trying to resolve this.
Thanks!
Usualy WiFi problems are kernel related. Have you tried Siyah or another custom kernel?
If this will not help than returning to stock with all wipes is the best idea, this should resolve your problem. If not, than you can try to reset router or set static IP for s3. Also try to remove WiFi setting for your home network in the phone and set it again manualy or via WPS mode.

Thanks for the reply. This issue has been occurring between two different roms, so can the kernal still be an issue? Its happened with the absolute stock rom (w/ root) and Android HD Revolution.
My uncle said he would play around with the phone and let me know if it freezes again by tomorrow. If it does im going to wipe and stock.
Can anyone show me where to get the stock roms for the i9300?
I've downloaded and tried 3 different ones, but the phone never manages to boot up!

Same problem on Galaxy Note N7000, did your problem resolve by reverting back to stock because I've tried every possible option, to no avail?

Mobile data not getting connected. PLEASE HELP!

Hi,
I recently upgraded my Lenovo A6000 phone from stock to RR. Mobile data gets disconnected after sometimes. Same happens for RR in my Moto X pure. I have to restart the phone in order to get the data back ON or sometimes aeroplane mode works. In *#*4636#*#* hidden menu, the data connection status showing is "connecting" rather than "connected". Signal strength is good. Tried resetting APNs, Dalvik/Cache reset, and nothing works. The network still gets to "connecting" mode at random times. Any solution to this? Any way to debug this? I'm fed up with restarting the phone. :crying:
Any advice or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

The solution to this problem is the corrupted kernel. Flash the rom once again and then flash a kernel. This should fix the error.

You are a life saver. I was scared to work with kernel files. First few tries failed after playing with modem, modemst1, st2. Had kept backup. In the end putting back fsg file did the trick. LTE is stable now in my Lenovo A6000.
Waiting for VoLTE patch for Moto X Pure xt1572 (For Jio of course). Will fix it after that and update you guys. Thank you

Super Weird WiFi Problem

Currently running the latest Pixel Experience ROM and it's solid overall.
But, I have experienced a super weird bug or glitch concerning the wifi and how it connects.
On the stock MIUI setup WiFi was solid and stable, didn't even have to give it a second thought. However, after rooting and ROMs the WiFi capabilities are seriously weird.
On both LineageOS and PixelExperience, whenever I try to to connect to my WiFi network, the phone takes down the whole network. And I mean the whole thing. It just tanks the network into restarting and I have no idea why. It should not happen, but it does.
And to actually connect the WiFi, I need to turn it on and off at least 3 times to get it to connect. But once it does connect it stays connected. It's pretty annoying when I go out and come home and the phone has to jump through these hoops just to get WiFi working properly.
I don't think that it has to do with the Pixel Experience ROM because I've updated it twice now and the problem still persists, so I'm just left thinking that maybe it has something to do with the vendor firmware that I used at the time when I was getting things set up.
Any thoughts? Would be a huge help!

Yes, most likely a Vendor Firmware issue. Try the latest.

Sounds good!
But quick questions, when flashing the new vendor firmware do I have to wipe anything? Or can I just download it and flash? And will flashing the new vendor firmware wipe my phone?
Thanks for the help again!

Just download and flash..no need to wipe anything. It will not delete your data too..
Edit: if your data not encrypted, you'll need to flash dfe (disable force encryption) as flashing vendor will encrypt your data.
