Looks at https://autoroot.chainfire.eu/ for your specific firmware, if there's no, maybe you flash the PD2 firmware on you phone, It's same device, right? Only build date change.

Flashing a old or new firmware build on your phone, no chances of brick, unless your computer catches fire in the process.
There's TWRP for your phone in the reserved XDA forum? Flash it using Odin and flash SuperSU system-less. CF-Auto Root does it, flash a patched custom recovery and flash root package.

Using Odin in default ways won't will kill your phone, UNLESS you do it in wrong way.
Read here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/s6-...ecovery-official-twrp-galaxy-s6-edge-t3354492
Do all steps in this thread, then install SuperSU zip package using TWRP.
Here just for reference: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/root-systemless-rooting-supersu-2-74-2-t3405772

Hello
There is probably some thread already going on about this, but there's too much information i can't locate exactly what i'm looking for.
So my apologies in advance for bringing this up again.
My problem is my IMEI nr changed to 0049.... after i flashed the latest version of Omnirom on my Galaxy S3 I9300, and now i can't make any phonecalls nor receive text messages. Wifi seems to be working. Before it was running smoothly with Cyanogenmod.
So can someone please give me a step by step solution to fix this sjit? Or redirect me to the correct thread, or whatever that can get this issue solved?
I'm surely willing to donate to whoever helps me out.
Big thanks in advance!:good:

What i meant was if the phone needed to be rooted before flashing the firmware...
Meanwhile i flashed it, but i seems to be stuck on the Samsung-screen loader. Before that all apps were updated, but still stuck now loading....
Any more suggestions?
Yes: Boot into Recovery. This must be StockRecovery, otherwise your flash failed. Then do FactoryReset.

Hey guys im back after smashing my beloved xperia z (which i had mastered the ins and outs of) and reluctantly replacing it with a HTC ONE m7 which was the most terrible phone i have ever used in my life.... i have plonked a good bit of cash on a z2 and I AM LOVING IT
I had updated to the latest version of KK but i am hearing mixed reports that a root is not available for this version.
If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be fabulous.

Hello
I see you are totally green on this.
Well, im kinda green too, but I have had a lot of help from @xda and now I can manage to do some stuff with my telephone.
The first thing you have to do is BACKUP!!! This is always important.
Well, then lets get to it.
The XPERIA Z2 has a locked bootloader. This means that it cannot flash any roms, custom or other without being unlocked. When you unlock the bootloader, you delete all files on the phone, (don’t ask me how, it just does) and also deletes a partition called TA. The TA-partition contains DRM-keys, to explain that, @Envious_Data might help.
Anyway, when you have root, you can backup the TA, BEFORE you flash any custom ROM, or the ROM with ROOT. That way you will always be able to go back to scratch. Without ROOT on 4.4.4 you need to downgrade to 4.4.3, ROOT and backup the TA-partition before you even start thinking about unlocking bootloader.
(search the XDA, Google (use XDA in the end for XDA results) XDA-TV and you will find tons and tons of stuff. Once you understand some, it will come fast to you.)
I have gathered some threads here for you to read, and I hope this will work for you too.
Start off by reading this
When done, notify me.

To root the Z2 and get dual recovery on 4.4.2 follow these steps
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/help/how-to-root-firmware-314-t2821619
Then you need to follow the instructions in this thread, it's much easier than what it seems

Also, no need to backup TA unless you wanna unlock your bootloader

I am new to Sony devices (been a Samsung guy for years). I have had my Z2 less than a fortnight but already I'm itching to root it etc, problem is it seems a lot more complicated than Samsung devices. I was always switching between roms on my S4/note 2. I am on the latest firmware and would like to root it to be able to use xposed but I'm scared of messing it up and as the phone is under warranty don't want to end up with a paper weight.
Has anyone done a detailed tutorial for newbies like myself?
Thanks in advance

It's not really that hard and there are also of resources online that can guide you.
1 Downgrade to 4.4.2 is required as noone had found a vulnerability with 4.4.4.
2 Root phone
For step 1 and 2, Have a look at this http://www.xda-developers.com/android/how-to-root-the-sony-xperia-z2-xda-developer-tv/
3 install recovery for lock bootloader
Have a look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785598
4 install a 4.4.4 zip through recovery. I recommend this one as its basically stock http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/development/stock-4-4-4-23-0-1-0-167-bug-free-t2929402

It depends on how you want to root, you can root and permanently void your warrentg or you can root and keep your bootloader locked
Hi guys, first I want to apology if it has already been asked.
I'm running Android 6.0 (32.1.A.1.185) on my E5823. My phone is rooted and have Xposed installed (Hi Niantic)
I can't get rid of the notification for 32.2.A.0.224.
Should I update?
Will I loose root and Xposed? If so, how can I get rid of this annoying update notification?
Thanks a lot
You won't be able to update the official way without getting rid of the mods/root.

Okay thanks. How am I supposed to update then?
Can I remove this annoying persistent notification?
the difference not that big, i would wait for 7.0 nougat if i were you

Uninstall Xposed framework and then you'll need to flash stock kernel using fastboot which would also remove whatever custom recovery and root you have.

I wouldn't recommend it. Even if you do succeed in updating you could end up with a bricked device or just mess up your firmware and would have to do redo everything. Best is to bring it back to complete stock and then do the update.

Okay, thanks for the reply
I don't really see the problem. Just flash the latest firmware using Flashtool and then root again by using the rootkernel mod in this forum. Xposed and such aren't a problem either.
Hi
Is it possible to use Flashtool with twrp/root/xposed? Btw I think my bootloader is still unlocked.
And what should I use to root? Something like this or this?

If your bootloader is unlocked you should be able to follow both tutorials just fine.
In short:
Flash new firmware using Flashtool
Patch kernel of new firmware and flash it
Flash SuperSU and Xposed using TWRP
Enjoy life
If you need step-for-step help, just send me a PM with your instant messasing contact details. I'll help where needed.
Hi, thanks for the reply, I'll do that when I'll have more free time.

You'll first need to downgrade to an older firmware in order to backup the TA partition. This thread describes everything very detailed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z5-compact/general/how-to-backup-restore-ta-partition-root-t3479532

In my case MM 6.0.1 (.224 or .253) solved the battery drain issue during night/sleep, so i would highly recommend it. There is also a discussion regarding this.
as suggested by others, i would not directly OTA upgrade with modded kernel, Supersu and Xposed installed. I would do it with flashtool.
If you want to stick with the current version, simply disable/hide/remove the Software update app (or "hide all notifications from this app".)
I froze it a while ago with Rom Toolbox, but thanks

I'm trying to root a Samsung G7.
Here is some info on it:
Model: SM-G930A
Android Version: 6.0.1
Build#: MMB29M.G930AUCS4APK1
I am new to rooting and messing with phones and stuff so I've been using a lot of YouTube and xda forums to try and figure out how to root this phone.
I've tried all the one click roots from this list, https://www.xda-developers.com/best-one-click-root-2018/
After that, I started looking at tutorials on YouTube that used a computer and USB to root a phone. From there, I learned that Odin is a thing and people use it. So I tried that out, but I couldn't find the right boot.img for my specific model of phone. The thing is, I don't know what a boot.img is or if that's even what I need.
I am currently trying out this tutorial online: https://dottech.org/199442/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-s7-sm-g930a-on-android-6-0-1-marshmallow/
I googled engboot samsung g7 (it was mentioned in the online tutorial I am currently using) and found this xda link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/how-to/engboot-s7-s7-edge-qualcomm-exynos-t3531104
Oh, and I've already setup ADB and figured out how to get into downloading mode and recovery mode.
That's where I am on my journey to rooting my Samsung G7.
I'm in need of much assistance though.

Okay, I googled how to install TWRP on samsung g7 and apparently I can't install it on versions of the g7 that are Snapdragon.
Only Exynos. The phone I am trying to root is Snapdragon. What should I do now?

I am trying to figure out how to root the phone with that post you sent but I am sure about whether my phone needs to be oreo or nougat to work. Mine is marshmallow so will the root still work?

You can upgrade your phone with odin or just upgrade it from update settings
So how are things now?

I have not figured out how to update the phone.
When you say update, do you mean the Android version or the model (ex. SM-G930A)
Also, the link you sent me, is that a link to change your phones version or root the phone?
I downloaded all the files it asked me to, but in the rooting instructions it wants me to flash a .tar file that I didn't get from the downloads it linked.

Yes, I unzipped all of them but could not find the file it was speaking of.
But my phone is running on marshmallow so I'll stop using that method.
