Hi!
I want to get rid off some apks (see title) with titanium backup.
The problem is, that those apks are listed as service, so titanium backup only backups data and not the app itself. So there is no way to restore?
Is there a way to restore these pre- installed apps after deletion (maybe I change my mind ).
TIA,
Caveman
I'm sure Layar is avalible on the market, so is the CarHome. LG App advisor is crap so you can forget about it.
Copy the apk from /system/app. You can do this by mounting the system partition as read and write, then cp the apks to your sd card
So there is nothing other than the apk?
Why does titanium backup delete these apks without backing them up?
Thank you,
Caveman
By the way, I haven't tried this yet with a ROM that hasn't been deodexed. Backup both (.apk & .odex) just to be sure if you're in a stock rom.
Regarding titanium backup, I have no idea. I backed something up and uninstalled. When I tried to restore, it won't. The option is grayed out
EDIT: Just in case --> http://theandroidsite.com/2009/11/2...and-paid-android-applications-for-root-users/
Ok, thanks.
BTW: First attempt to restore stock rom (if I saw that titanium backup did not backup LG's "services" it was too late ) went bad (the phone stayed in "emergency mode")- that just increased my heart rate . The second attempt (without LG's modem drivers) went well
Thank you all!
Good luck with the stock ROM restoration Btw, I just want to suggest that you don't use KDZ flasher to restore to stock firmware. If you already have a custom recovery installed, just flash another ROM over the one you want to replace.

How to prepare the original LG kdz to be flashed with custom recovery (I just installed it)?

What do you mean? If you mean flashing the KDZ from the custom recovery, I don't think you can.
Here's a handy list of custom ROMs we have in the site (at least for the O1):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=932158
It sounded like you could flash stock rom with custom recovery...
I noticed that there are a lot of custom roms available
So, thank you again,
Caveman
Sorry about that. How I talk/write can be confusing at times xD But yes, you can install the stock ROM with custom recovery, just not the .kdz file. From that KDZ file you can create a zip to flash using custom recovery.
I think the main reason why people revert to stock firmware (ROM + stock recovery) is because they have to take it to a service center and they still have their warranty. Or if they badly need the factory stuff xD

Thanks!

Judging by the content of the MOD zip file you cannot just replace the camera itself, there are a lot of other files related to it, but I've uploaded them anyway

Like I've said, it's probably not that easy, there are a lot of other binary/java files involved.
Do you have stock firmware or a MOD, stock kernel or custom?

If you have the FW ftf maybe you can try flashing system.sin only.
I think you should wipe dalvik cache before you do, perhaps cache too.
Of course you will lose root and CWM.
If that doesn't work you may need to re-flash the whole firmware.
Be sure to backup all your data before you attempt to do it, if you do.

I use stock ROM and kernel, removed all apps I don't use, disabled some that cannot be removed and froze some that cannot be disabled.
Removed all apps that came with stock, freezed a few and installed some scripts to save battery that's about it
I dont have P and JB, i have U with ICS but some time ago i wanted to uninstall Cybershot 4.72 without re-flashing everything so i made an Cybershot v4.72 uninstall script that removed every file from Cybershot 4.72, and then i restored the original files for my stock camera and everything worked fine without re-flashing...
I will attach my uninstall script (cwm flashable on ICS Xperia U) but i don't know if there is a separate v4.72 for JB or its the same as for ICS, so... that's your home-work, im just giving you an direction

I lost them after unlocking bootloader. Thank you
Not sure why you would lose any system apps after unlocking the bootloader, mine did not do that... but you can try to download the stock rom and just copy those apps from the zip file into your system (and fix permissions) or you can try to factory reset after you unlocked the bootloader...

They're not exactly system apps. They're located in /data/preload. I'd be happy if someone can provide them.

I seem to recall (can't remember the thread) that several apps did stop working when the devices were unlocked. It may have depended on the variant of the M7 that was being unlocked.
I already restored apps from stock rom OTA. This thread should be closed.
Ever since i tried the 20mp superior auto xposed module, my camera app force closes a lot of time. I tried to replace campea apk files, wipe cache exc exc. Upgraded to .314 now but its still FC for me.
Yeah i know a fresh flashtool install would solve this easily, but atm i dont have the time to setup every program and settings how i like again.
Any fix for this? Maybe flashable camera app?

Use titanium backup or a nandroid backup if you have a custom recovery installed. A factory reset is the best way to solve it. However u may try using other camera apps or uninstallind the xposed module (or xposed framework itself) to see if they might help.

Yeah i flashed a prerooted .314.
Last week I rooted my V30. All well. I spent the last few days installing various apps, cleaning bloatware, changing themes, updated to the latest stock ROM, and so forth.
Today I installed ES File Explorer, because I heard somewhere on this forum that it was very good. After a while I was playing around with it the app crashed, slowing down my phone until I finally managed to access it. I thought to myself "nope", and uninstalled the app. After that tho, many more apps were giving me "the app has crashed" message straight after I opened them. Tried clearing their cache, no change.
I thought, well ****, this is no good, I'll just wipe everything and restart. And so I did. Reboot to TWRP, wipe, reboot.
And now I'm stuck. Because at the WELCOME TO TO YOUR LG-H930 Android set up page (right after you input your wirless network), as I choose "Set up as new", the phone gives me an UNFORTUNATELY GOOGLE PLAY SERVICES HAS STOPPED message. And so I cannot go further.
I can reboot to TWRP, I even tried a complete format, no change. I just can't go past this set up page.
Any help please?

Reboot to TWRP, restore one of the backups you made before doing all this. It's in the sticky notes, but it shouldn't have to be. One of the main reasons to have TWRP custom recovery is to make/restore backups.

4) PLEASE make TWRP backups, so you can restore back to rooted stock firmware in case you mess up something! TWRP custom recovery is a magical time machine which can help you go back before you did something you shouldn't have. But it can only help you if you have a backup to restore. One of the best feelings in the world is when you done something idiotic on your rooted phone -- and then you remember you have a recent TWRP backup. You don't need to ask for help and no one even needs to know.

Wipe in TWRP, flash stock TWRP-flashable zip + Magisk for your variant? Then reboot.
(What variant do you have?)
Transfer the files over in TWRP from PC, if you don't have already on your internal Download folder.

OK, so I need some help because I'm losing my mind. I managed to reflash the ROM from scratch, and begin anew. But I have the feeling that something is off still. I think that the stuff I remove with Titanium is causing instability.
For example (this is already attempt number 4 btw), I have removed with Titanium only the bare minimum (carrier apps, google apps I don't use, Facebook and Amazon -- nothing I am not sure what it does). But now every single FB-replacement app I download and the new amazon shopping app i re-downloaded crash as soon as I open them. Every single one (Metal, Friendly, Frost, Maki....). Every other app works fine, so I think it has something to do with me removing FB with Titanium. But why??
What can I safely remove with Titanium without messing up everything?
EDIT: so I opened every single app i have and all work except the FB ones, the Amazon one, and for some reason the HD audio recorder. It says "Terms of Use for LG apps keeps stopping". I had similar problems many many times, forcing me to wipe everything and re-flash the ROM from scratch. What am I doing wrong??

In Titanium Backup, let's freeze the apps you don't like, instead of removing them. They won't run, they won't show up in apps drawer. And removing them from stock doesn't really reclaim user space for you as they are installed in system space. So, let's freeze them. (Yes, I know how to turn user apps into system apps and vice versa, but let's not go there.)
Point is, we're trying to solve your problem which I suspect is related to the tight integration in stock firmware.
When FREEZING, instead of bluntly removing, let's see if you get the same errors or not.
Stuff is so tightly integrated nowadays you can often cause lag and errors by removing something. The system still tries to look for it before moving on, or throwing up an error message. The most people who complain about lag are the one using that silly ADB remove app/list, where they removed stuff that regulates the Always On Display or that allows Wi-Fi calling and VoLTE. At least for the US998, LG optimized the heck out of the stock firmware and I have no lag. (Dev @runningnak3d says he sees a difference in the stock US998 and the T-mobile H932; that T-mobile H932 has more lag.)
But it's not like the old days where you can cleanly remove a "package" (app) and nothing else is affected nor even Samsung Touchwiz where their interface is laggy as heck.
Anyway freeze the apps, see if you get the error messages. The placeholders are still there, so the system may not think it's "missing" something. At worst, you may have to unfreeze a couple that are necessary.
By the way, what variant do you have? What TWRP-flashable zip are you using? I'm curious about the carrier apps.

Right. I am not chastising you in any way.
But WTF makes you downgrade to early Oreo to unlock bootloader. You can then update back to newest firmware via TWRP flashable zip. Some people get too eager to go do other things they forget about that.

You may be using year-old firmware was my concern. This is especially problematic for people then trying to flash AOSP/Linage custom ROMs.
I was just asking if you were using the newest TWRP flashable zip. If you are, fine. If not, I would suggest looking at the instructions on how to update to newest (which was just released a couple days ago).
There's been lots of fixes and improvement in the past year (camera, DTS Surround Sound, etc). It may also be contributing to your problems over on the system space apps. Can't hurt to have newest firmware and can only help.
