I'm about to get myself a RN4 but I'm kinda confused to which version to buy. My concern is which version currently has more dev support (as of searching I assume the chinese version has the upper hand but I just wanna make it clear).
Or can I just flash the Global ROM whenever I feel like switching? I really want to get this phone considering the budget I have.

There's only one version, well 2 if you count the 2GB/16GB or 3GB/64GB versions, but all roms work for both. You can install global or China roms, both have beta versions as well and there is an EU rom also.

Just be sure that it's the official global ROM and not a sneaky vendor/reseller ROM pretending to be a global stable ROM.
If you're not sure, Google the MIUI version from 'about phone' under settings, you will see results of other users querying the same thing. Or if you're still unsure just post here.

Silly question....
I'm undecided between the xiaomi mipad and the Nokia n1
.... I notice that there isn't any support on XDA for both tablets making my purchase decision difficult.
What's your take on this, im on the look for a 4:3 aspect ratio and 7.4 inch ish tablet size, should I look somewhere else other then those? Thanx
Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk
ive no personal experience with the N1, but i can say that ive really enjoyed my mipad. im impressed with the build quality.
i run the latest "global" miui rom rooted.
also xiaomi is expected to release the source code before to much longer.. which means 3rd party roms would be quick to follow.

i bought mine from china (i live in the US) it came with a version of miui that had several Chinese apps that looked to do similar stuff to google.. and it didnt have any google apps. once i swapped to the global version of miui i really liked the tablet.
from miui.com you can download 3 roms
mipad china:
-developer
-stable
mipad global:
-stable
if you install cwm you can easily root any of them, if you stick with original recovery you can only root the developer.
also there are several developers in russia and india that are just waiting for source code to drop. and its expected to happen fairly soon (assuming mipad follows the general path of other xiaomi products)
Xiaomi seem taking their sweet time lol,is already one year old if I'm correct.
What is the path that usually they use for their phones regarding the code?

Xiaomi is usually hesitant to release the code, sometimes due to too much pressure created they may release all at once as happened in the beginning of this year with mi 3, mi 4, redmi note all code being released, except Mi Pad.
Lets hope Xiaomi releases it soon so that Lag Free Roms can be developed for this beastly device!
So I'm planning on buying the Redmi Note 3 with 3gb of ram and the snapdragon processor. My question is, is there any good roms for this device? I hace checked the threads here and most people seem to have quite many problems with the few roms that exists.
There are some good ROMs like CM13 or RR, using RR since a few days and I have no problems.

Resurrection Remix Rom.
CM13 , RR and Flyme OS are stable roms now .
So...
I currently have a Nexus 5 and I am was very close to buying the RN3. Now see the Nexus 5 provides stable pure android which I love so I dont need to flash custom roms on it. However I recently did that just to be able to get Android N. I've enjoyed my experience with custom roms so far. I'm using CM14 and I do like it even though it does seem just a little unstable and having a few bugs here and there.
I decided to upgrade to the RN3 because of the pure battery life offered by the N5 these days. I had decided that I would flash CM on top of it as soon as possible because I hate anything other than vanilla android. Now however, CM is dead. I have already done my fair bit of research to know that they are moving to Lineage now. I also read that the popular phones won't really be affected. However the RN3 isn't very popular. At least that's the idea in my head.
The point of this post is Will the RN3 receive the support popular phones would? Will I be able to have the latest and greatest in Android?
That is the one question which will affect my decision on whether to go for it or not. I think I need to make a decision by late this week on this so yeah..
Can any devs say that they plan on working on the RN3?
Is the RN3 as popular as the N5 was for the sake of development and stuff?
I plan on supporting the RN3 once I purchase one. However, I don't think it'll receive the large array of ROMs Nexus 5 has, but I think it'll get plenty of ROMs all the same.

I m using Aokp from 10 days with various custom kernel. Stable and fast. Only bug is the instable camera (using google camera apk mitigate it).
RN3 has miui roms, cm based roms and good development. Definitely it will be worth purchasing. Android file host shows 3to4 roms for RN3 daily.
Need some other roms except CM based.
If any devs port Color OS, Cool Ui, EMUI Etc...
It will be great.
Hi guys
I want buy this device.
Is there a better choice at this price?
I want buy kenzo model. 16 Gb and 2 Ram
How can i understand that is kenzo?
Sorry for my bad english
Yeah it's still a very good choice, especially if you are into budget phones.
I would go with the Kate model however as it has LTE band 20 support, that helps a lot when traveling through (or living in) Europe (which I do).

Development support is identical on both kenzo and kate models as they have identical hardware.
The only difference is the modem firmware, and given that none of the custom roms come bundled with a firmware package (that could potentially override your own firmware), that means that all roms that work on kenzo, will work equally well on kate.
Long story short, no development support difference between kenzo and kate. :good:

Not really, the only difference between Kate & Kenzo is the firmware for the modems. Kenzo has a better selection of cases and such but Kate has more bands that it supports. Kate is 2mm taller than Kenzo.

My Kate has the FPC102 one, works flawlessly.
If you're buying the phone, I would recommend going to the 3GB RAM version.
Honest suggestion:
I would recommend Redmi Note 4 (SD version). It'll gain the same (maybe little less/more) popularity like Note 3. It'll also have official Nougat update. So, there'll be bugless Nougat custom ROMs. While, Nougat will not get released for Note 3 and there are chances that we'll be stuck with these camera/flashlight bugs for months. So, i would suggest, Redmi Note 4. Yes, it has SD625, which is inferior to SD650. But if you're not a gaming guy, it's fine to go for Note 4, which has also better battery life compared to Note 3, because of the chip being made on 14nm architecture.
If you're not in India, I would suggest to wait for Note 4 to popup on international selling sites.

Then do it already. RN3 won't get official Nougat update. Period.
Redmi series only get one OS update. We got it months ago as Marshmallow. No more updates now, even if it was best selling phone of India.

"As more Mi Phone models got introduced to the market, more users started using MIUI Beta through different channels," Xiaomi wrote in a post on the official Mi Community forum. "However, MIUI Beta is made for public testing and requires the user to have a very high tolerance for bugs and faults. [...] Our team of engineers has decided to stop releasing the global version of MIUI Beta for all devices starting July 1st, 2019."

I mean the beta has a good bug fix, regarding the icons in the status bar (won't disappear very quickly, replaced with the clock).
So, MIUI EU ? I wish to stay boobloader locked as much as possible.

It's sad that people don't understand what beta means I like MIUI it has potential and yes i liked weekly new features.
Fair enough, maintaining a lot of devices with a beta for every week for both China and Global roms costs lot of resources but with marginal improvements.
Keeps only the china Dev for testing new features and improves the Global stable to make it really stable (I usually find the global stable sometimes doesn't as stable as a global dev).
Anyway, EU rom (based on China Dev) is always better than global dev.

But Global beta is kinda useless. That's why I just use Chinese one. It works much better with Wechat and other useful Chinese apps
