Hi,
I recently installed Remix OS on an Acer Switch Alpha 12, which runs perfectly including gapps. Netflix is also running fine, but without the possibility to download videos for offline usage (for example while on the go). It's there a way to modify the build.prop that Netflix download will work? I know how to modify build.prop, I just need working settings. Thanks in advance!

It's probably not working because the build.prop specifies a device that isn't well supported or even supported at all. But, I'm pretty sure Remix OS is based of the Nexus 7 (2013) firmwares... I will need to confim that with Google's firmware listing
.
EDIT: I have confirmed that Remix OS 3.0.207 is either based on the Nexus 6/ 9 LTE/ or 5 GSM/LTE MOB31E Firmware.
These devices should be supported by the Netflix App...
Even this listing by Netflix shows that the Nexus 6 / 7 (2013) and 9 should work with the new download feature: https://help.netflix.com/en/node/23939#netflix-in-hd3
EDIT 2: Try changing the following lines:
ro.product.model=Remix OS For PC
ro.product.brand=Jide
ro.product.name=remix_x86
ro.product.device=remix_x86

Just tried exactly that. Doesn't work, settings still show the device it really is.
I changed build.prop by unpacking system.sfs, mounting system.img, editing build.prop, umounting system.img and repacking it with mksquashfs. After that I replaced system.sfs in the RemixOS folder on the Remix OS partition. Did I miss something?

No you didn't miss anything :good:
I would also recommend that you add the "REMOUNT_RW=1" parameter to your menu.lst/grub configuration file. This will allow Remix OS to boot in R/W mode by converting the sfs into img at boot time (this will only happen once, unless you delete the img file).
It is strange that it didn't work. I suggest that you try editing the prop after adding the REMOUNT_RW=1" parameter. If it doesn't stick then it is being replaced at boot time with the original file from either the ramdisk or initrd, not sure...
Do you found a soloution for the problem?
I did the same, unpacking the sfs, editing the build.pro, then packing the sfs.
But no way, it dont work. I also added RW at the boot sequence.
Any idea?

This wasn't about installing Netflix itself, but to use the Netflix Download function in Remix OS (for downloading episodes for offline watching, like possible on smartphones, tablets and in Windows).

Hi,
This is one of the ways you can try to Dual Boot Remix OS if the others failed for you. Using this method, you can choose to boot either to Windows or to Android each time you restart your computer. This method is safe and won't harm your windows files in any ways. No media inside your computer will get deleted.
Note: No EasyBCD or EasyEFI Softwares used.
Requirements:
The Remix OS Updated Version 2.0 (Released on 25th January)
The Android x86.
Android Installer:
Click this XDA thread for EFI Devices.
You also need a 7zip software for extracting files etc.
Now, get the full tutorial from here: Dual Boot Remix OS with Windows.
This tutorial also has screenshots to help you in every step.
Note: In the tutorial I have given download link to Remix OS which is the older version, please ignore that and download the newer version of the Remix OS I gave here above.
Thanks.
Perfect to install 2.0 version, but how to upgrade on build 2.0.1. Tks.

Hi, is the remix os for pc 2.0.202 release out? there's a release note on http://support.jide.com/hc/en-us website. but OTA update doesn't say so and download page isn't updated either.
Enable test builds in settings.
Its not out yet, probably getting it ready for release soon i hope, and hopefully we have audio this time around!
enable latest update in setting/about page and tap 5 time "Remix OS version" to show aditional update call "unstable update"(well its stable enough for me"
and the new update has new feauture, it has pre-rooted native apps in it ( no need to install superuser or any other root apps anymore)
just do install remix os beta update to latest 2.0.202 and replace init.img file with one that have R/W in system, cause original init.img file still only has R/O system
note : backup ur original init file for next update, cause OTA update without original init file will fail..
Ok, I was able to download the update this morning! Not sure what was added or fixed but i was sad to see audio is still not working
this remix os never worked on my computer, the installation never finish successfully . I wonder if it's a matter of driver, like my asus essence stx sound card.
Go to Setting then "About" and tap "Remix OS version" 5 times to show (unstable update). Then go back to Settings click on "Update", click on the 3 little dots (options), click "System update version options", then select "Unstable version", and go back to "Update" and it will be there.
I downloaded and placed the initrd.img into the Remix OS folder, but when any app asks for root it fails with message "libc.so is 32 bit"
Anyone know what's going on? I installed 64 bit version.

The 202 update shows in the update box as being downloaded. I am then given the option to reboot and install, but when I do, nothing changes. Does my installation have to be rooted first? I have Remix installed on the hard drive (SSD) of my Acer Timeline 1810TZ.

I have a similar problem. I'm running 2.0.102 as the only OS on an Acer touch-screen laptop that is booting from a 64GB SSD. Everything is working fine.
However, the Update window shows that Remix OS 2.0.202 B2016040501 has been downloaded.
When I click the "Reboot and Install button", the machine verifies the OTA package and reboots.
Problem is: the OS hasn't been updated at all and I'm still in 2.0.102, even though "Options / Automatically install updates" is turned on.
A step-by-step guide on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

There're few bugs that stop Android-x86 6.0 from daily use. For example,Google play services always crash on Intel Gen8+ GPUs,which is not fixed yet.
But the devs at Jide are actively contributing to Android-x86 6.0 and you'll be able to see the results in near future. For instance, the issue of Time being reset in Windows is fixed
in the latest commit, Check the marshmallow-x86 branch at https://github.com/android-x86-mirror
Hmm...seems like a solid release. I will wait for the official announcement and update though. If it fixes my nvidia/wifi/sound issues I might actually start using this

I think there is no remix os 3.0 for PC(x86) :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying:
I downloaded and installed it. My impression :
1 Locked DOWN, no more root command line
2 No Play Store option
3 Does include keymapping
4 Stock file manager can no longer read the partition on which Remix OS is installed
5 Maybe a little more quick because of changes to disk partition access
This may be because it is currently for Chinese users, hopefully there will be more flexibility with the release
EDIT 2016/07/01: After solving problems of getting into root command line, was able to deactivate jide app policy and then went on to install nova launcher, etc. Then using help from @HypoTurtle I was able to do systemless root. Everything now operating well. I will continue testing this 2.0.401 over the next few days for stability.
Summary:
1 No longer locked down
2 Play Store is activated
3 keymapping confirmed
4 Solid Explorer can read all disk partitions by using Stickmount
5 So far seems quicker than 2.0.205

Run chkdsk on the partition.
@RemixOS_Jason These OTAs seem to take 1-2 days to show up for me; are they rolled out by location?

In my case, when Remix OS running don't eject partition where Remix OS installed. If something wrong happens, that partition will not affected... CMIIW
Sent from my Moto G using XDA Labs
EDIT:
OTA update didn't work, I didn't wait and installed it once again on my Lenovo miix 700, but a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT:
1) audio still not working (Realtek high definition audio),
2) no USB mount, it gives an error about a corrupted usb card.
3) YouTube doesn't work
4) kernel is not updated to 4.4.1.7
audio worked on Android x86 RC2
Any idea @RemixOS_Jason ?

I thought your audio would be working with remix os since it's working on latest Android x86; that's very strange

unfortunately not... maybe because kernel isn't updated to the new version mentioned in the changelog
A clean install using Titanium Backup to restore apps. Very fast, smooth.
A few glitches:
1 phantom usb drive
2 no way to change the notifications
3 bluetooth doesn't work
still have the "sleep mode wake up hang" bug

1) audio still not working (Realtek high definition audio) - We are still working on more support for audio cards. Please be patient as this is still a continual work in progress.
2) no USB mount, it gives an error about a corrupted usb card - Our testers have shown that most external USB drives are supported. Can you send us your info through our user feedback form so we're aware of your specific device's issues? https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1cZNesOmnmO2esilFpvMzFZ874rvwsiKgWIX2fo9QsDk/viewform
3) YouTube doesn't work - I've been testing YouTube all day on my Remix OS for PC device. The app works fine. Watching on YouTube through Chrome has some issues, but on the whole, still works. Just not as well as the app. So, are you referring to the app or in browser experience?
4) kernel is not updated to 4.4.1.7 - I just checked with our PM and he stated that they're still testing this. Though we integrated rc2, this is one thing that was held back for testing to make sure it didn't affect overall system stability. However, stating it on the release notes was a mistake made on my part. There was miscommunication between myself and the PM and I listed this when it was still in our internal testing phase. I do apologize for this mistake and the confusion it may have caused!

@HypoTurtle It may be due to the servers in your location. Where are you writing to us from?

Thank you for the detailed reply:
1) no audio - This is a popular sound card, and there are other threads on XDA and Google groups talking about this, so I hope it's high in your priority list. If you need me for any beta testing for this audio card, I'm in!
The fact that Android x86 RC2 has audio working gives hope it's not that difficult to implement it, right?
2) I was actually talking about a microSDXC card with exFAT format, a Kensington 64GB card, which doesn't mount. Is it a known bug?
3) Youtube doesn't work both using the standalone app and through browser. I don't know why.
4) This explains why it still shows the older kernel. Maybe this is the reason for missing audio???
Keep up the good work!!
This version doesn't realese worldwide so i found in chineese remix os forum
Before, 3 things you must know
1-) I'm not creator of this version so if you have hardware or similiar problems don't blame it
2-) If your hardware goes wrong (burn or something) don't blame to me because i'm not creator, i'm just like noobish user
3-) I share on this forum because i believe this is best version for some users
In my case; this version has more performance than other versions.
Brightheness and screen rotate is working

[x86 - Problems]
- You can't install supersu directly from google play
Installation failed
If you root it with RMXTools you can't update the binary too, but it's better than normal root mode. Don't forget to disable 'Apppolicy' 'pm disable com.jıde.apppolicy'
- You SHOULD'NT install with 'read-write' mode on installation setup.
If you install it, your system become unstable. It may not booting after some restarts and you can't read your flash drive
- To mount system as r/w, replace initrd from @imanesaurus post https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67706802&postcount=4
YOU MUST install with system.img, extract system.sfs with RMXTools and move it to installation drive.

[x64 - Problems]
- YOU SHOULDN'T INSTALL WITH 'READ-WRITE' MODE
YOUR SYSTEM GOING TO BE UNBOOTABLE AFTER SOME RESTART (%100)
- to install supersu, read carefully (noobish way)
1-) Install it system-write mode
2-) When the system boot up disable 'Apppolicy' on terminal(ALT + F1). 'pm disable com.jide.apppolicy'
3-) Install supersu and update binary
4-) After binary updated DON'T REBOOT YOUR ANDROID SYSTEM, make system.img on linux, linux live cd
http://ubuntuhak.blogspot.com/2012/10/how-to-create-format-and-mount-img-files.html
5-) After making system.img remove orginal 'read-write' system and format your android data
DON'T START YOUR ANDROID SYSTEM BETWEEN STEPS
- Mount system as read-write
If you install read-write mode on installation your system will be 'read-write' but your system will be unbootable after some restart. I don't know why
so i can't figure how to do this
More information is coming If you find any solution about this edition, please share it us. I will add to first page
Sorry for my bad english :crying:

screen rotate. Jide removed 'screen rotate' and 'brightheness' functions on remix os 2.0.402 and 2.0.403 versions
Bump.
Use the 3.0.207 modified initrd.img found in RMXTools downloads in GDrive.
And convert system.sfs to system.img using RMXTools.
Notice: Remix OS already comes pre-rooted but if you want to install SuperSU just use RMXTools to install SuperSU. (Root-32 and Root-64)
Issue: Reflection doesn't work correctly in Asphalt Nitro with Mesa 11.
And PUBG also doesn't work. (No solution yet.)
Cheers!
Ahmad.
I'm very happy with the system, it's rly a nice addon to W7.
I wouldn't ditch windows for few editing programs etc.
1. Or do You have a way to emulate windows programs in Remix?
2. JPanime app works but I got only sound - can anyone confirm that or help fix it?
3. This Phoenix OS is better? If is why?
4. Is there a way to make look windows like Remix OS? (love the bar, icons etc.)
Bump, again, the original forum links don't work anymore.
As Jide has renewed the site, letting it more focused on Enterprise solutions as they mentioned, BTW, stay tuned for the new Jide OS 4.0. (JOS X 1.0)
