What is XOSP and how was it born?
XOSP stands for the Xperia Open Source Project. The project was initially created by me (@nilac) for the Galaxy S+ (my old device) years ago. Back then the ROM was called S+ Reborn. The vision was to create a minimal bloat free ROM which included Sony Xperia specific apps and various tweaks users would expect from a custom ROM.
S+ Reborn became a success and was eventually ported to different devices so from there I rebranded and XOSP project was founded. I worked on the project for 2 years always trying to improve it. Eventually, Because of the fact Lollipop was buggy on my Galaxy S+ (Which I maintained xosp for at the time) I decided to take a break from development until I got my hands on the Zenfone 2 in 2015 and from then I started again the development of XOSP and continued it ever since.
What Represents a Release and what represents a Revision?

How do I create bug report or capture battery log. I installed ROM on 11th Jan. charged mobile 3 times to 100% . but I got on screen time of less than 15 minutes. google play services is awake for 10hrs and drains my battery. Screen time is 5th in the list. I am using Squid Kernel
I am planning to go back to Resurrection ROM as I was getting 4hrs on screen without any bugs.

Thanks for the ROM. Almost everything's fine. I'm switching back to RR till you fix live wallpapers.
Please fix it, it's really nice to me to be able to use a LWP.
The op is just a builder afaik, these issues you point out may have to be fixed mainstream.

Fair enough. Though like I said op is just a builder I don't think he will be fixing issues like this unless they are fixed mainstream and he compiles a new ROM. Are live wallpapers the only issue you have? No data loss?

Data loss only seen while trying VDD in kernel settings and getting the kernel crashing. Rollback of about 3 secs after every reboot if doing many tasks in background before rebooting.
But I don't care too much about that bugs, there's not actual corruption, just rollback. I just want the LWP to work.
An important buggy thing might be the WiFi who losses a bit of signal every some minutes, but that's not on the developer.

I guess you aren't waiting enough. On Nougat custom ROMs mine takes up to 8 minutes to boot.

Please @Subhrajyoti Sen , tell me you're going to update this ROM. It has many bugs and I'd like to see it updated, I'm still download AOSP source, maybe I can build one by myself later, but that'd take weeks.

cannot turn off the button backlight. Settings app crashes as soon as i try to
Edit :
Tried to disable it from sys/class/leds/button backlight/brightness by putting it to 00 but phone reboots and the backlight starts again. These lights are really irritating..
Edit 2:
Got it working by changing values in both files of brightness in above path. But it changes again after every restart.

Since it is based on CM (Lineage) source, shareit bug will be present i guess. No harm in trying this rom though. I am planning to get my hands dirty with this rom in a few days time
Also, if possible, please port xperia calling app to this rom

Rom is super smooth, Battery life is very good (only 2% overnight drop). But there are some issues I found
1. Browser Keeps crashing, while installing apps from playstore
2. Cant disable hardware key's back-light. If we try to do so in XOSP setting it gets crashed
3. While placing a call Do Not disturb mode gets automatically enabled, and gets disabled automatically after call has ended.(I am not sure if it is expected behavior)
MUSIC PLAYER EFFECTS ARE SUPER AWESOME.

What is XOSP?
XOSP is an after-market firmware based on CodeAuroraSources (CAF) destinated for a wide range of Android phones. The name stands for the Xperia Open Source Project and the project was initially created by @nilac for the Galaxy S+ (his old device) years ago when back then the ROM was called S+ Reborn. The vision was to create a minimal bloat free ROM which included Sony Xperia specific apps and various tweaks users would expect from a custom ROM.
S+ Reborn became a success and was eventually ported to different devices so from there it was rebranded to XOSP. Calin worked on the project for 2 years always trying to improve it. Eventually, Because of the fact Lollipop was buggy on his Galaxy S+, he decided to take a break from development until he got his hands on the Zenfone 2 in 2015 and from then he started again the development of XOSP and continued it ever since.
How do we release updates?
We release new updates for our Official devices each week by providing Delta updates to the users,so maintainers of the other devices can do the same as well if they want to keep up with the changes. We will make full zip releases only once a month except special cases like for example XOSPDelta is not working or something like it.

as stable as it gets, so far I haven't noticed any bugs at all. I'm a busy person but instead of making optimized omni rom builds or paranoid android on the side, for now im going to focus on helping the xosp team optimize/improve performance so not only is this stable its gonna be pretty fast

theres a link to a feature list in the OP. and as for Paranoid android I've been doing builds for it since the sources were buildable but there are too many bugs I don't have the resources or time to look into (weird audio popping while scrolling through menus, fingerprint sensor not working, nfc not working and a few other things i cant remember.) I think it has something to do with aospa switching anglers hals from aosp to caf. if anybody would be interested in grabbing logcats for me to hopefully speed up development it would be greatly appreciated. Just send me a PM if you're interested in the link

I flashed this ROM last night. It is force encrypting! I didn't see it in time, so I forced a reboot. Now I had to wipe the whole device. No backup. I guess you should've stated so. My device is decrypted.
Love this rom.. but lack of WiFi call support is a deal breaker for me
Any chance this is implemented in a nearby future?
Thanks, the theming is wonderful.

Yeah, I never take a chance anymore and always just flash a custom kernel prior to booting. I've had it happen a couple times and it isn't any fun.

I think it's your own responsibility. You should at least make a backup first.

What is XOSP and how was it born?
XOSP stands for the Xperia Open Source Project. The project was initially created by me @nilac) for the Galaxy S+ (my old device) years ago.
Revisions include small changes such as bug fixes/improvments etc.. (Usually there are made like 3 revisions per-release).
Releases are the main "stable" builds with all new planned features implemented and bugs fixed.
You can find all the included features right:
Here
You can find the list of current issues in the ROM right:

wait for rl8 please, I think with rl8 rom will be better
in my opinion i really want to try this week build. the last build doesn't have gestures, but i think that you add this options this weekly build. and that's why i wanna try it. if it's possible can you give a download link, maybe pm if you don't wanna share for all.
and it's really perfect rom, no issues for 10 days usage.
good job. thanks a lot.

Wow awesome rom.. Get the same experience as xperiea...
Some commom bugs
1)Soundoutput a bit low
2) sometimes the app automatically closes( mostly google play store)
3) flashlight wont turn on (need to move the tiles to make it work) but reboot and it wont again
4)battery drain issue
Overall 8/10 (personal opinion) but there are no gestures which moto had so if its possible pls add it.. Itll be good
Thanks
Edit: use gapps only
Tried xosp apps but it didnt install.. Use gapps pico only
Magisk crashes when trying to install Viper from the modules list. This is a big deal to me because installing it manually on Nougat has never worked right.

Use A. R. I. S. E. And see if that works. I never used the Magisk module. I'm not on this rom yet but using arise always worked on every rom I used it on.

Thanks for the suggestion. The Magisk method just worked so I stuck with it. I used this though, from a V20 thread. It works. Good enough.

Go to Xosp G+ group there you will find weekly changelogs and about xosp news.
If you guys don't like magisk I can add supersu from next build. It's all your choice.

I actually prefer Magisk preinstalled. The big advantage to SuperSU was you could manually unroot to allow apps to install and login, but with Magisk Hide, that isn't an issue. Just seems that Magisk functions much better with far fewer problems to me. I do wonder about the crashing when trying to download a module but I have Viper4ARISE working now so it's ok.
This seems to be running great so far. I'll definitely stick with this and report back on what I find. I would like to see some more of the basic extras though, like circle battery, moving the clock around in the status bar, that kind of thing. I do have the XOSP addon zip installed too but I'm not entirely sure what that affects.
I'm fine with both SuperSU and magisk
Use the XOSP apps from the XOSP site for Nougat(Newest ones) If you haven't already and open_gapps-arm64-7.1-micro-20170527 from Open Gapps site. Some prefer Nano,I prefer Micro.I was the first one to flash this build immediately after it was built. The steps I took we're as follows:
In TWRP (Advanced Wipe) Wipe everything but Internal and obviously Micro SD.
Install/XOSP/ADD ZIP-XOSPAPPS/ADD ZIP open_gapps-arm64-7.1-micro-20170527(Or your choice of Gapps)
After successful flash before reboot do a factory reset then reboot and profit.
These are only the suggestions but they worked for me and I've had zero problems.Im in no way suggesting you did anything wrong I'm just saying that it's what worked for me.If it XOSPAPPS still doesn't flash successfully, try flashing ROM/Reboot recovery /Flash open_gapps-arm64-7.1-micro-20170527 /Reboot recovery/Flash XOSPAPPS
You can also factory reset before each reboot after installing each individual file.Thats also worked for me in the past.
