Thanks for the fast reply
After some research, I was able to locate this method http://en.miui.com/a-232.html, installing it through normal system update, it's the easiest way as I can see. But does it work as it's supposed to?

I'm not new to flashing things, had a lot of galaxy and nexus and OP and LG phones before, all were quite easy, but this is my first chinese phone and the procedure is quite complicated and hard to find.

Your Welcome,
Yeah it looks more daunting than it really is, most of it is just setting things up for the flash.
Just on a side note, if you use the inbuilt Mi Backup (save to SD card or PC) along with Mi Cloud you can save a lot of trouble switching between ROMs.
I've found that by using them both together you can have all your Apps, App Data, Personal data & settings restored really fast & without much intervention soon after flashing the new ROM.

Are you trying to unlock your bootloader?
Do you have the MIUI forum app?
If so you can check your Account I'd by going to the user settings, clicking on your username & it will show you your Mi Account ID as above.
This should be the same number for:
1) Mi Account associated with your device under Settings/Accounts:
2)The one you use for the Mi unlock software: ( note: number is different as I don't have a screenshot of mine)
3) the unlocking SMS you received should be the one to use.

Hi, i had requested unlock for my mi account. How is estimated time to unlock?

hi all
I have a RedMi Note 4 MTK, running on 8.1.4.0, my Bootloader is unlocked and i have TWRP by ZCX on it + Rooted.
For some reason i can not flash any custom ROM, when i flash a ROM, it instantly reboots and gets stuck on the white Mi logo and nothing happens.
I tried placing the ROMs on my Internal storage and on my SD Card, the same..
Any idea why ?
Thanks!

Hi,
The first one (8.1.4.0) is a Stable ROM & should be free of bugs.
The second one (7.2.9) is a Beta Developer ROM & may contain bugs but may also have new added features for testing before releasing to stable builds.
Stable builds can only be updated to a newer Stable build & the same goes for Beta Developer builds.

I want to konw how you did it...
Won't be long until CWM and a Custom rom are available.....
CWM For The P2
Ok, well here's a start CWM for the P2
It's not quite the normal flashable .img that you get with most other devices
This is P2Tools.apk and app that install's CWM on to the /system partition and can be booted to from the app for during boot by pressing VOL- or VOL+ when the RED LED comes on.
This is not a Touch Recovery,
Aroma also suffers the half screen bug of CWM6 when it's being used.
This has been edited so as not to wipe /data/share or /data/cust when performing wipes
The P2 does not use /data/media like most devices but /data/share for the /sdcard
No one going to give feedback on CWM?

Yes it was tested using a P2, as for custom ROMs I've not got round to that yet. For CM of any sort we need to get the boot loader unlocked.

Ah good man. Thanks for your hard work. I've spoke to huawei UK via Facebook and they sent me a link for their boot loader unlock page unfortunately our device wasn't listed. I'm definitely up for helping to get this device ready for custom ROMs. If we can achieve I'm sure it will be much better. I'm really not impressed with stock firmware and miss the freedom I had with galaxy s2. I will try and post the link to the site

My weather app and clock just crash as soon as I open them and their icon is missing... any solutions?? Thanks
I've tried the factory reset already but it hasn't done the job the system ui seems to be ****ed pardon my language the back light to the touch panel don't work and the status bar does not work either there's an update for the phone but it won't install as the system apps have been removed and it can't apply the update to the system apks as they ain't installed I've tried to change the update script in the update.zip and every time I change it to bypass the updates for the missing apps it finds another app that is missing I've rang huawei and they won't fix it as the person I got it from of eBay had rooted it and they won't give me the firmware file to put it back to factory settings so I'm stuck lol

any idea to create the image on the SD card without using ATF?
I have researched as unzip, open and convert SDC files, and appears a UnpackSDC program, but when I try to use it it gives me the following message of the image, there will be way shape SDC convert to ISO or IMG

hahaha yeah you change your motherboard, that's what happens when you don't do research. if you have a hard bricked device you still have a 50/50 chance of fixing it via SDC using sdcard or perform JTAG on it. that requires tools so you need to bring it to a technician who knows what he is doing or you can buy a motherboard which is like buying a 2nd hand device. it's your call anyways galaxy grand is cheaper now a days

yes,
after flashing a TDB (True DualBoot) recovery, and enable TDB, the data will not share between System 1 and 2
I use it for a couple of time,
System 1 - WIUI
System 2 - different Roms (always Switch between stable and dev)

I have my exams starting on Monday and have a paper at 1.30 pm everyday so wont be able to purchase. If you could buy one and keep it in cart and ship to my address via COD with flipkart i would be very thankful.
added stock recovery for anyone who feel cwm is a threat to their pets

well I dont have issues forwarding the phone but incase of any issues you need to deal with flipkart as according to the bill you will receive ,as I am not sure if I change the shipping address to your name so will the generate bill in your name
and you already up with the signature sent from mi3 and if the other guy don't respond by 7 I will forward it to you but atleast he deserve a fair chance as he as busy with exam

So you just have it placed in cart and waiting to pay right? I you can do a cod to my address I'll get the phone you'd get bill on your mail which you can forward to me.. That's right I scored one in first sale but I'm giving mine to my cousin who stays in remote area and cant get 1 on his own and hence I tried on ever consecutive sale but didn't get any.
The boy sure deserves a pref . I'll wait till 7 and you can let me know post that

I'm new to this device. I wanted to know if I can flash twrp without unlocking bootloader. Because unlocking bootloader seems to be a big pain. Please let me know can I flash without unlocking bootloader. And also let me know if I can't do it the easiest way to unlock bootloader.
You can't flash TWRP recovery without unlocking bootloader. The easiest and safest procedure is official method.

But all the reviews and suggestions are suggesting that it gets stuck at 50% and I actually can't wait for confirmation :3 is there any unofficial easy way?

Even I am also faced same issue. Just do one thing firstly use only one sim which is related to mi account 1week and open imi.com search your connected device if you see connected list remove device except your mi login device and click on "find my device" daily your problem will be solved. It's really worked me.

you must enter really genuine reason "why you want to unlock bootloader" and it takes almost 5 to 10 day.
If you want to unlock bootloader unofficially it will Brick/Dead your device it's very risky but you can if you have a knowledge about what you are doing.

Ah okay. Well I didn't really put a genuine reason. I just said I used to root all my devices so I guess I can do it in this device too and I can't live without it . Good enough?

In my case, it is frustrating but lastly i succeed. 1st thing i do is unlock bootloader. For this i write permission to use mi unlock tool by writing that i want to root my phone to test some apps.i got confirmation within 7 days. After that same 50% stucking problem is happened to me ,keep trying 2 days ,all thing do as suggested in different forum and youtube video but nothing happened.
1.Same mi account logged in mi cloud ,in your phone, and given in mi unlock tool.
2.mi cloud able to track your device on map and only your latest device is connected in mi cloud.
3.Login with mobile no instead of email in every places wherever mi login is required most important.
.After that wait for 1 days and make a try to unlock bootloader , keep trying ,keep trying ,you will succeed ...

Hello everyone,
I'm completely new here but friends referred me here and told me people will help here and give good advice. I just got a new Mi 8 lite phone and there is a ton of bloatware. I'd like to clean it up as much as I can plus install whatever possible to get the most out of the device. I'm open to any suggestions.
Thank you in advance.

Thank you for a quick response. I see this will help remove the apps but are there any other things I could do to get the most out of the phone. I'm planning on playing PUBG on it as well.

Unlock your bootloader.. read through the difference sections to see the offering good luck
If you want the most you need to unlock bootloader, install custom recovery, and then a custom rom (aosp or miui). The custom rom will not have all the bloat and perform much better along with giving you more features.

Thank you for the advice. Could you tell me where I can find all the resources needed and necessary steps to do all of that? Also without doing all of that, is there a guide to fully take advante of the cameras and how to do it?
I noticed when unlocking bootloader that there is a Mi Unlock status option. Should that also be unlocked?
i found the official twrp app in the play store, is that something that could be used?
what could be a good custom rom for mi 8 lite? whats mostly recommended?

Under this section you will find the recoveries available for our device https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-8-Lite/development no TWRP official available from the app.
About your questions of the rom no point to say this is better than that so the better for me might not be the better for you, you have to check the thread of the roms, download them and check them your self, no better way to test by your own that all that you need works for you so most of the roms actually work fine for some things but have bugs for other things.
If you unlocked bootloader the message that appears on Mi Logo "unlocked" is normal.
