H850 VoLTE option - LG G5 Questions & Answers

I have H850 EU model. I was checking the hidden service menu *#546368#*850#. Under that I went inside the Field Test->GPRI VoLTE/VoWiFi->UX.
These are the following options listed:
1. gpri_display_volte_setting
2. gpri_display_hdvoice_icon
3. gpri_display_vowifi_icon
4. gpri_display_vowifi_setting_options
5. gpri_display_vowifi_setting_preferred
All are checked. Still I don't see the VOLTE option in Call Settings/Mobile Networks/Notification Panel.
Any idea on how to enable this? Please note that 4g does work. Only that VoLTE is not enabled.
I have attached the screen shot as well for reference.

Does anyone know how to enable wifi calling? These options don't do anything when enabled.

Same issue here..
But somehow sometimes i get carrier sms even when there is no volte. But when i try to send any message... It always fails

I have tried updating the ROM to Android N. Still VoLTE and VoWiFi is not available inspite of all the above listed options selected.

We need proper ims settings according to ur region..
When i ws having Samsung s6... I need to flash csc files in international roms according to region/carriers for volte. There ws a thread in s6 forums containing csc files for all the regions...

But that is for Samsung mobiles. At least my G5 does not have a CSC folder under system. Not sure if I can create one and add those values. Also, when I try to the IMS setting it says "Trace module is currently empty". Any suggestion is appreciated.

Csc is for Samsung, G5 directory must must have some other folders or files having values for volte.. Only developers like ( @xpirt) can help us.
I remember when i flashed Samsung a9 rom in my s6.. CSC flashing doesn't work. So at that time a developer provided an app named ims settings.. In that app i changed some values which were told by same developer. Nd i got volte
Sry for eng

Same problem here :/
I have the same problem here. Although it wasn't my problem until I flashed fulmics and my device got locked out and had to format everything including system. Previously my LG G5 was working absolutely fine with voLTE without any app help. I remember getting a vodafone splash screen on my phone before flashing 'autoprime's' rom for g5 which gave me simple lg splash screen. I am sure this is due to region wise settings but if I find my region rom that'd solve my problem.

Are you absolutely positive that your 3g was not related to service operator when you were on the stock firmware in question ? Have you tried your SIM card on other phones to confirm the functionality of 3g network ?
Did you check you APN settings :
Dial "*#*#4636#*#*" > Phone Information >Set preferred network type > WCDMA preferred Does it set correctly ?IF not then choose wcdma; press turn off radio then press turn on radio; press home button(not back button). You will get 3g. If not then reboot.
Have you lost your IMEI ? what you see when you dial "*#06#" was it gone on your last non - deodex fw ? what is your phone variation ?
what was your last CSC/PDA/MODEM part , which does support your base band/3g and other things , before you lost it ?
Your country / Region and carrier you are staying too please ,, we might need to flash the only Modem part over Odin to resolve this issue according to instruction i will provide . However you need to be more specific by providing more details such as name of possible custom Roms you did flash. stock CSC/PDA/MODEM details you did try and other minor details will become valuable in this troubleshooting .

Hello, thanks for the answer, the same SIM card worked on with 3g with the deodex rom, and wasn't working before it. I got no 3g with one rom, changed it to deodex and got 3g, changed again and lost, all of this in a few minutes, so wasn't problem with the operator or SIM. I didn't check the APN, I just downloaded an app from my country to try to set it. I don't know if I did lost my IMEI, I have it wrote in the back of phone, but didn't check if is the same after all that changes (and if is possible to change it), I changed the rom a LOT of times, first times with CWM and after with Odin, with the I variation, C and M (trying to go back to original stock). I think the original firmware was an old version of M variation (S5830MUWHKL4 maybe), my country is Brazil and the operator of the SIM card is Claro, the last stock from sammobile I tried was the last one from Claro, tried with and without CSC after splitfus2 it.

I really don't understand how Deodex Rom has anything to do with your 3g/IMEI/APN settings. Because Deodexing is basically repackaging of your APKs in a certain way, such that they are reassembled into classes.dex files.
By doing that, all pieces of an application package are put together back in one place, thus eliminating the worry of a modified APK conflicting with some separate odexed parts.
custom ROMs or APKs are always deodexed to ensure integrity.
Ok so you are from Brazil (Claro) and on C variation of the device, thus splitfus2 and wipe package troubleshooting is not supported for C variation . (Splitfus2 only generates the normal extraction of CSC/MODEM/PDA parts from your single xxx.tar.md5 file, noting more in this case ). Use this pre- configured app for normal parts generation instead with ease .
This is the list of the correct xxx.tar.md5 for your device and you have tried the last update for your carrier from this page ( PDA : S5830CVJMA1/CSC: S5830CZTAMA1 )according to you , right ? and you lost your 3g support ?
I got couple of suggestion for your 3g :
1- Use 2012 tested Brazilian Multi Package Firmware from this page ( PDA: VJLF3/CSC: ZTOLF1/VJLF2) .
2. Check you got the correct Odin and drivers installed on your system ( Odin3.v3.07.Cooperve.exe ; Drivers post ) .
3- Get into Download mode ( pressing Vol(+) + Vol(-) + Power Keys) :
- -press volume up
-Open Odin3.v3.07.Cooperve.exe
-Connect your phone to PC via USB cable.
-Make sure that your phone is detected in "ID:COM" area.
- Put your CSC/MODEM/PDA parts into their respective places . Do not use pit file and Do not tick re-partition though . Factory reset and reboot selected by default >> push the START !
- DO NOT disconnected nor disturb the flashing Nand process , until the process being terminated.
Get into e3 stock recovery and wipe your /data .
Now in your brand new FW :
Dial "*#*#4636#*#*" > Phone Information >Set preferred network type > WCDMA preferred /only and confirmed my instruction in first post has met with your APN settings.
Dial *#06# as instructed in first post ( IMEI box with your 15 diigit number must appear )
CSC is your consumer software customization and it is specified to geographical region and carriers. CSC contains the contains the software packages specific to that region, carrier branding and also APN settings for data connection .
WE can easily change the settings inside our Multi - package we flashed for carrier compatibility etc etc :
Code:
Just type *#272*Device IMEI# at Phone dial pad. For IMEI type *#06#.
Select the CSC that you want.
Click Install.
Phone will be rebooted by itself.
Note –Changing this will factory reset your phone. Do backup before perform this task.
Note – CSC can sometime be corrupt. It may lead to infinite loop. Reason unknown.

Me too, I don't know why the heck just the deodex rom got 3g signal, I flashed the same PDA version, but no deodex, and there was no 3g..
Originally my Ace is an M variation, I bought it unlocked on the internet and came a 5830M, probably with S5830MUWHKL4 rom.
Yes, I got that rom from that page and used the splitfus2 on it. I'm waiting my dad get back from work (I'm trying to do the best fix on the phone so he can use it without problems) to start trying again to put the last rom with your instructions. Also, do I really need to flash CSC? This part comes with a lot of trash apps that is impossible to remove by normal ways, and I don't want to root the phone and use 3rd party programs do remove that things.
Thanks!
#Edit
Also, the PDA from deodex rom has 431mb and the PDA of nondeodex has 185mb (same version of rom), is it normal?

Yes you need your CSC as i have explained it in details ,,,and you have too get root privileges for any removal of your system apk's ( If you are under some sort of warranty , you can use UN-root script or galaxy toolbox to reset the counter to zero for avoiding detection i guess, after you have done playing around with phone ,, rooting and using either manual or script method is recommended for bloatware removals on Odex roms , third party apps like disable service and TB is also advised ). Or Deodexed your Rom and remove bloatwares , but you will loose ~70 MB of your precious internal storage ( link2sd or Universal Cronmod could fix the storage problems ) and PDA size you did mention is quite natural .

VoLTE and Wifi calling using root, for Three UK. Will it work, what might I lose?

I want to try and enable VoLTE and wifi calling on Three uk on a J8110 as the signal is marginal in the two locations I'd like to use the phone from and coming from a samsung S7, I can see that the phones a few db's down on signal to start off with, so I really need the VoLTE or wifi to make the phone useful to me.
Now under this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-1/help/google-dialer-volte-t3975441
They say they managed to get VoLTE going using root.
1. Root
2. File Manager with root support
3. Go to /oem/modem-config
4. Delete "anysim" folder
5. Rename "S9033.1" to "anysim"
6. Go here " https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=80231731&postcount=395" and download "VoEnabler.zip" From the Google Drive link
7. Put "VoEnabler.zip" onto your device and install via Magisk and reboot.
8. You should now be able to use VoLTE and VoWiFi.

So my three questions are;
Is this likely to work? e.g allow VoLTE and maybe wifi calling
Will it break safetynet by rooting the phone? (as I use internet banking)
Will it break anything else like DRM keys.
I see there appears to be multiple rooting options for Android these days if I can do the above is there a particular rooting method thats more likely to preserve the safetynet compatibility?
And maybe the DRM keys.
As I'm only interested in Enabling VoLTE and maybe wifi calling.
As an aside to that I see in this thread, https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-1/help/enable-volte-ee-uk-t3958112/page3
That some people on EE have got VoLTE working without anything special is this just because EE is just a network sl*t and just allow anyone on there system?

If you're on the Customized UK firmware, VoLTE should work by default.
I have the Customized UK firmware downloaded and I just checked, and it does include the required MBN file for VoLTE on H3G in UK. I am on the Dual SIM J9110 however, but I reckon it should be the same on the single SIM J8110 as well.
Yes, rooting will break SafetyNet on the Xperia 1. Magisk Hide works on some banking apps, but some of still fail to work once the bootloader is unlocked.
You will lose DRM keys, but from what I've heard, they are restored if you re-lock the bootloader.

Yeah can confirm its not working on three uk, as other have already said in other threads..
*#*#4636#*#* > Phone info > VoLTE provisioned is grayed out.
Also cannot access three on the 800mhz LTE band 20
TBH three when I spoke to them just wiped there hands of the issue and said we don't sell the phone so speak to sony.
So much for industry standards.

You could try the method that enables the VoLTE toggle. In theory it should work with just that because the required files for IMS registration to work are already included in the modem for the Xperia 1.
why not just flashing another FW before losing DRM keys while rooting
we had a user he used a non European Market Xperia 1
no option for voLTE or Wificalling
after flashing the European FW everything was working just fine for him without any kind of rooting
I have flashed South East Asian (SEA) on mine and it has option for the VoLTE in the Network & internet > Mobile Network
It has Enable VoLTE and it can be toggled on and off. (although we don't have the VoLTE here )
If they are already providing VoLTE. Flash SEA firmware.

Locked myself out of CSC changing screen [Help]

Obligatory - This is my first post here, please go easy on me. If this is the wrong section please point me where I need to go.
Okay, I have been having issues getting IMS registration (for att) on my N20U (unbranded) Snapdragon. This is an issue because I don't receive most calls without VoLTE, and the service I am using is actually FirstNet. (An at&t service that provides priority cell tower access for first responders.) Who is also dropping legacy 3G and analogue calling at the end of the year.
The FN sim I was given would not change the network CSC to ATT like it should have in order to work properly.
I was able to get to the manual CSC change menu through the dialer code with a TFW-att sim card (yes, while on oneUI 3.0). I suppose the menu is locked out when other csc's are active.
This allowed me to force change to ATT's csc, then place my FN sim in the phone. The kicker? I had to toggle "do not auto update CSC based on sim data" in the menu to get this method to stick.
Things are grand, working fine, but i got curious as to what options the other csc's had to offer. So i start flipping through the list and end up landing on.....you guessed it..... XAA.
Without thinking about it, i ran it, the phone rebooted, and now im screwed. Flashed the ATT rom with Odin- no change. Factory reset? No change. I messed up BIG.
Finale / TLDR
If you didn't get what just happened there, I used a specific sim card to enable a CSC a menu that uncle sammy does not want you playing with. Proceeded to disable auto CSC changing by SIM, then walked back into a CSC that does not allow me to open said menu. Thus preventing my phone from working fully on ANY NETWORK ever again. With root impossible...
Side notes that failed: Tried fac reset/ tried firmware flash/ tried samkey (no android 11 support)/ tried force change from network side. I hope im not out of options?

Thank you so much for offering your help.
Actually, it is not a difficult process to extract that file.
First thing needed is to install QPST and enable the phone serial port.
After that, you need to open a program called EFS Explorer and then extract the files.
You can find a video that explains the process here

After installing the Qualcomm drivers, you will see LG Diagnostic Port, and LG Serial Port in device manager. Manually update/replace the serial port driver with Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 9025. Then in the phone hidden menu you have to turn off the diag port under SVC, Port Check Test as shown in the video above. Then it should show up in QPST and EFS explorer

I have all the carrier_policy.xml files, TM VM EA. But I have some questions first. In which country and what is the name of the Carrier? The only reason I'm asking is: As far as I know, nobody in the US has crossflashed (most have been crossflashing the lmv600am) and really been able to get a 5G signal. Yes, I know it may have the 5G moniker on the taskbar but using Netmonster tells a different story, as do other tools. It's 4g masquerading as 5g. For example, on the v50/v60 on tmob network, using b66 shows it's 5g when it really isn't. When you crossflash with a KDZ the efs partition is not overwritten nor should it be because it contains imei info. Any file (carrier_policy.xml as an example) in the efs to be change has to be DL from the efs partition using Qspt, edit, and then reloaded. Show are you really getting a 5g band on your phone??????

I've been trying forever to get this to work with my ATT with stock FW and when crossflashed to EA, and you're right, I think it just doesn't, regardless of fw version installed. I've pulled the EA EFS policy files as well as the ATT ones, modified them, reuploaded and 5G just will not turn on. I've persisted so long because this method worked fine on my V50, however that one is a V500N (korean variant) whereas this is a V600AM (US/ATT variant), so I think that may have something to do with it. Have tried adding MCC-MNC, editing the rf_band lists, all sorts of combinations. I have a feeling that when the sim is inserted the phone doesn't even look at the modified xml files in the EFS partition and just generates it's own with the american models, but this is just speculation.
The other thing I noticed is that when I edit my ftm file to regain my serial number and remove the NT code error, the outer screen on the dual screen attachment works again, but then I lose 4G altogether and revert to 3G without data.
On my V50 all I had to do was add '5G' to some band lists and it worked, however, that unit is not crossflashed and still has stock korean firmware.

Well I can tell you that there's a running discussion on a lot of the points you just made not the least of which is whether or not the modem is being provisioned at activation and if so what exactly and how much.
I have 2 lmv600am which I got off Ebay. Both had been crossed to EA fw when I got them. Since I'm on Google Fi, I went to the AT&T unlocking site and Sim unlocked. I then put my G-Fi sim into 1 of my v60 and sure enough I get a 5G moniker on my taskbar. Now during this time period Tmob is changing their policies on LG phones, mainly since LG is no longer in business. For example, lmv450 no longer actives on Tmob nor any of it's mvno's and I believe the same is happening for all Sprint phones plus all LG non-tmob phones. They're checking by imei.
So it didn't take long and bam, I wasn't even getting a 5g moniker. I call G-Fi and asked, WTF. I was told that G-Fi is now only allowing Google and Samsung phones to activate with 5G services, only 4g for V600am. Once again imei strikes. BTW you can page thru modem protocols here; *#546368#*600#>field test>modem settings>engineering mode to see if you even have the 5g protocol loaded. I use to but now I only have 2g, 3g, hspa and lte.
The only reason I'm bringing all this up is because Carrier Policies are changing with LG phones so It's worth a tech support call/chat with your carrier to see what's what on their side.
The next step would be to use a serious network app to verify what really going on. I think in your area the G-Mon app is being used a lot. I use Netmonster in the US. I saw a screen shot from a guy in Poland, I believe, that thought he was getting 5g only to find out that it was really lte+ 3xCA. He was getting 727.3 Mbps on the DL which is absolutely screaming. That’s faster than 99.9 % of the phones in the US.

Forgot to mention that I noticed that after a fresh flash, the xml files present in the EFS are different before and after inserting my sim.
Interesting but also disappointing to hear about the IMEI checking :/
I've been through hidden menu settings, and depending on which firmware I have installed I can see different bands and modem protocols available/activated, but can still never turn 5G on with my american V60's.
I had so much hope for this handset since firehose was made available!
Which reminds me, I even bootloader unlocked and rooted my crossflashed at&t unit. Successfully install Magisk etc, but couldn't enable r/w on system partition, even after generating and flashing a modified super partition. Something else going on here.

How do you change partition sizes?

How to change CSC for SM-G991U?

Hello,
I have a SIM unlocked S21 from Xfinity Mobile that I'm now using on Verizon Wireless. I need to change the CSC to VZW, anyone know how? I tried all the dialer codes, and also SamKEY but no luck so far.
SamKEY says "unsupported firmware, please downgrade your firmware".
Since January 2021, it's not easy to change CSC, some people do it by flashing firmwares then block whatever app checks SIM & CSC compatibility.
You can check this thread if you're into action.
Thanks, I tried that but somehow it ignores that the VZW SIM card is VZW, and it keeps the CSC as CCT/CCT/CCT.
Even putting in an AT&T sim card, it still keeps it as CCT/CCT/CCT. The carrier name is stuck as "Xfinity Mobile" also, no matter the SIM.
I wish Samsung would implement the "BYOD" thing already for this phone.. Or maybe SamKEY will work eventually...
What's interesting is that it changes the APN to the correct one automatically for the 3 SIM cards I've tried (VZW, CCT, ATT)
Firmware bug I guess, or Samsung has not yet fully implemented the "BYOD" feature referenced here:
Move your Galaxy phone to a different service carrier
If you unlock your phone to use with another carrier, it's easy to take advantage of all your new carrier's features without losing any of your data.

UPDATE: SamKEY worked!!
I was able to change the CSC to the correct carrier!

how many credits do I need to change CSC?
On the samkey page it says that you need 8 credits
No, if I remember correctly it's only 1 credit to change the CSC.
