Galaxy S6 Edge Key Lights Not Turning On - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The recent apps and back button lights do not turn on. When pressed, the buttons function as expected but do no light up.
During power up, the soft key lights up on the Verizon splash screen. So hardware wise the lights work, however, when the lock screen shows the lights are somehow disabled. And do not light up after logging into the phone.
Things Tried:
1) Factory reset through settings->backup and reset-> factory data reset
2) Factory reset through press and hold volume down + power button. Then selecting factory reset option
3) Clearing cache: power down -> press and hold volume up+power button + home key. Then selecting Wipe cache partition.
4) Went to Samsung tech support at Best Buy to have the phone's firmware re-flashed. This was recommended when I was transferred to Samsung Tech Support at Verizon help.
Firmware Tried:
G925VVRU4CPC2 (very first 6.0.1)
G925VVRU4CPK2 (second to latest)
G925VVRS4CPL3 (lastest)

[Q] Help! Messed with 'Simulate Secondary Display' settings!

Hi,
I'm new to xda, I was on CM10.1 nightly build 29th Dec, and I was just checking the dev options to see what was what. When I changed
the 'Simulate Secondary Display' settings the phone just froze. It's perfectly fine, everythings there, it's just that when I boot it, it shows the boot logo and when its about to show the home screen it freezes. I know its not bricked, and I know all I have to do is change the Dev Options. Could
someone plz tell me how? I actually have important messages and pictures that I don't want to lose.
Thanks in advance

Flash a different rom like stock based custom rom and install cm10.1 again if you want to
Thankfully I had a fairly recent Titanium Backup so I only lost a small amount of data + time. I hope you manage to find a solution as you said you have important messages and all.
Wiping cache doesn't help. I'm still stuck. :crying:
--- Edited ---
My itchy hand touch that setting as well. Stuck at CM10.1 boot screen.
Solution: Just boot into recovery, wipe cache and reboot. Done and everything working as usual.
Same question
I wiped cache and davkit cache in recovery but no luck
I would like to know the function of this option

1. use Safe mode. (I just pressed all button except power button, and it booted.)
2. disable Simulate Secondary Display.
3. reboot
(side effect : all widgets will be disappeared)

Yes. I just found this thread because i also locked my S2 activating "second display" and looked for a way to boot up in safe mode.
1. Turn off your phone by long pressing the Power button.
2. Press Up/Down Volume buttons (yes, both) and Power button at the same time.
3. Keep pressing all 3 buttons until boot-up image appears.
4. Release Power button while still pressing volume buttons (not sure if this is mandatory, but worked on my phone)
5. Phone will boot-up with "Safe-mode" badge in the lower-left corner of your screen.
Now go to Settings-Developer options and disable Second Display. After that, just reboot and you should be fine.

anybody try a restore?? seemed to work for me except i only had an ancient one... plus the safe mode trick seems better unless you just made a backup
im on rezound infected 2.2 JB 4.2.2 by the way and safe mode didn't seem to work but i just read the part where you hold volume buttons after letting go of the power button. so that might work for rezounds still

Seems not to work on HTC Desire Z. In a 3 seconds after holding volume buttons and power button, LED lights up in green and remains in this state. Using Jelly Baby 1.5.0.
Any other way?
EDIT: I found one. Turn on the phone and when on HTC logo, hold S button on QWERTY keyboard until home screen show up.

different phone, different method. the above applies to i9100.
glad you found a way for your HTC.
I wasn't able to boot into safe mode for some reason (HTC Evo with non-stock ROM). My solution was to use adb to edit the settings sqlite database.
Here is the guide I found: blog.jbit.net/2013/01/android-settings-reset-using-adb.html

Weird. Every Galaxy Tab 3 I've played with, when you get to that screen, the reboot and factory reset options are at the top. Sometime you have to play with the Volume buttons to get the options to show up on some devices. Like the 2 volume keys together, or just kind of play around with various buttons. That's certainly the right mode, because Vol Down + Power would be the Download mode. My experience has been like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nft8HVUc5Y4 - but that was on the 210 / 211.
But if you can still boot into the OS, the factory reset option is in the Settings > Backup and Restore.
pls check this link.It worked for me

Help: Can't factory reset t-mobile Galaxy S6 Edge

Hello,
My wife just bought a Galaxy S6 from a friend of her and we are trying to factory reset it.
If we do it from the menu the phone just turns off and when we turn it on again all the data is still there.
If we try using the keys before turning it on (volume up + power + home) after it turns on and we are holding the keys the capacitive keys leds start flashing like crazy and the phone doesn't turn on again after a while.
Any one knows what we can do to factory reset this phone?
sorry, just noticed there is a different forum for the t-mobile version
So you did try recovery mode, but it did not work? That's strange! When phone is turned off, press Volume up + Power + Home button and hold them until you see recovery screen (Android bot on cyan background). Then recovery menu will pop up (sometimes it can take a while for it to be shown). From there do the factory reset and wipe cache. But it seems you already tried it...
