Hey all, I'm looking to prioritize wireless networks on my galaxy s7 from verizon. I have comcast and have access to their wifi hotspots. Unfortunately I have one of their wifi hotspots near my house and my phone will sometimes auto connect to that instead of my home's secured wifi. Is there anyway to set up a priority list of networks so my phone attempts to connect to my home wifi before any others. Thanks

When i enable wifi hotspot or wifi tether it shuts down wifi. some apps do not communicate with same network even though it can ping each other.
Obviously, WiFi tether/hotspot needs the same WiFi transceiver that is used for WiFi reception, so they can't work continuously. You won't find any phone that doesn't have it the same way, because it doesn't make any practical sense to have both WiFi and WiFi hotspot on at the same time.
When you hotshot you can only share your mobile internet over wifi as the wifi of the phone cannot simultaneously receive and share Internet. You can only receive mobile internet and share wifi, hope that clears things up a little
Like it was said earlier, you can only choose to connect to the Internet or share it, not both at the same time.
Is it possible to creat a hotspot that connects to a local network instead of the cell data? I connect several devices to tab 3 tablets in vehicles i would like to connect them to my network when they are at my facility. I would like to keep them in groups and have this work automaticly, maybe by using tasker to turn off data and switich to local network by location or time ect. (make hotspot a client on my local network)
normally the wlan connection to the wlan-router is turned off when wlan-hotspot is used in Android.
why not connecting the devices directly through wlan-router to the local network? or a wlan repeater if the signal is too weak.
Or you could connect the hot-spot to a PC via USB , which in turn is connected to the network.
AFAIK only Miracast can maintain 1 connection with the router and 1 connection with a end device concurrently. But I guess that's no helping in your case.
Just switched from cable to VZ gigabit FIOS internet only. They require you to keep their router in the loop no matter what other devices you might add. Using Fios Router with wifi turned off, connected to Netgear Orbi with two satellites. Mumimo and Beamforming are off at the recommendations of several Fios/Orbi users. Connection is from Fios router lan to internet port on Orbi. I have two satellites because apartment is long and thin with many very thick walls.
LG V10 which works very well but because of location, has to get cell signal from another state across a river. Therefore I use it in wifi mode when at home. When in the middle of a phone call I often lose the call as I move close to another access point (or satellite for Orbi). Have tried SWIFI but it needs each access point to have a "different ID" and I'm not sure what they're referring to. Can't often hold connection. Also tried Wifi Switcher (Cloudie), Wifi Toggle and one or two others.
Suggestions for other apps to try, or other settings? I need to use the router because the cell tower is so far away and I'd really like not to have to stay in one place if possible. Thanks for any and all help.
Galaxy S10+, latest Android update from my carrier.
While hooked to any Wi-Fi that doesn't serve internet (my camper accessories, for example, are controlled by the wifi, but serves no internet connection), it allows very little data to function until I shut the wifi back off or end the connection to the camper.
I have my settings set up to keep mobile data active and also have aggressive wifi/mobile data handoff enabled.
Does anyone have a fix or any suggestions? It's really frustrating as I a few other devices that require a wifi connection to control but don't serve internet access.
Thanks in advance!
Hello PRO-I users, greetings from Korea.
I've been planning to purchase a Pro-I device, and I wonder if this device has a Wi-Fi relay function, i.e. mobile hotspot with Wi-Fi signal.
The problem is this; in South Korea there are lots of carrier-based Wi-Fi spots that requires EAP-SIM or EAP-AKA authentication to connect, which makes devices without specific SIM almost impossible to connect to secure Wi-Fi connection. In select Samsung and LG(RIP) devices there is a function called Wi-Fi sharing, which establishes Hotspot connection from Wi-Fi signals(NOT from 2G, 3G, LTE or 5G) under the device's hotspot name.
Example) Samsung Galaxy Note9(N960N)
1) Connect carrier Wi-Fi(KT WIFI)
2) Set device SSID as NOTE9-WIFI
3) Turn on Wi-Fi sharing
4) Turn on Mobile Hotspot function
5) Use my PC to connect NOTE9-WIFI, and connect to the internet with KT WIFI signals
Since I use quite a lot of non-SIM devices on the go, the availability of this function would be quite crucial. I've been searching high and low and I couldn't find a single clue of this.
Owners of PRO-I device, I humbly ask you guys a favor to find if this is possible. Is it possible to turn on mobile hotspot function with Wi-Fi connection?
Hi.
Got mine yesterday ... answer is a negative, unfortunately, as soon as you turn on the wifi hotspot, you lose wifi and it switches to mobile data.
