I had the below TV initially when it was launched with 4K,
Newest Original XIAOMI Mi Box Enhanced Version 4K Android Media Player Quad Core Amlogic S812 1GB RAM 2.0GHz 2.4G/5G AC WiFi Bluetooth - Black
Now that Xiaomi has released a new mi box for US with Android TV, is there a way I can install android TV on this model of mi box, its GITV installed Chinese, Mandarin stuff very difficult to install Google Play store or work, and wasted hours of mine and then reset back to its own FirmWare, I was wondering if anyone has come out with any way of installing android TV on these Mi box

No possible way to do this. Not enough memory, different Soc, incompatible partition structure, etc

CUSTOM ROM FOR AMLOGIC DEVICES​
Mods: This will eventually turn into a ROM/FIRMWARE soon, not sure if this is correct section to get it started.
This thread is intended to get devs involved in bringing the pure Android TV OS to Amlogic Android TV Boxes.
What I have tried:
Baking a "Stock Amlogic" firmware with the required files for the Leanback launcher.
Modifying the Build.prop to spoof device and get access to Android TV Apps through Play Store (Incompatible with all my devices)
Results: No success.
I wanted to find out if anyone out there have looked into this so we can also experience the pure Android TV OS on our cheap boxes. :laugh:
GOAL: Bake/Port a working ROM for the Amlogic devices that will properly run Android TV apps and the Leanback Launcher.
Please post any suggestion or experiences in doing so the same.

What bugs are associated with the launcher ?
Leanback gapps installed correctly on my Mxq Plus s905, but leanback launcher doesn't show suggestions from play movies and YouTube.
Only Android TV keyboard, YouTube and Crakle work correctly with their TV layouts, other apps just crash.
Also Google Cast seems to be installed and running but none of my devices found the Google cast device

The open Gapps github page has a leanback section with previews for all SoC architectures, we only need the core TV system, that would make it finally fully android TV, with the TV play store, TV play movies and all TV apps working perfectly

I would another alternative rom for my news android Box:
Vontar X3 Amlogic S905X3 Android 9.0 TV Box X3 4 go RAM 32 go
Why:
I can' t used VPn ( Nordvpn or Cybergosht)
If think rom don't allow Vpn; i used my accound in my other box android (X96mini) and no problem.
If someone have something for active vpn or alternative rom ( atvexperience no ready yet for this device)

Hi! I'm having the same exact problem. Same device and when connected to ethernet and trying to connect the VPN, the connection is terminated.
Have Transpeed A95X F3 Air. No ATV rom for this product.

Do you use ATV or standard android firmware or dualboot with coreelec?
I have my X2 Box (seems producer is the same) and software looks the same regarding to this video
And I am currently using astrill VPN and it is totally fine. But I have installed dualboot.

Vontar X3 is the same Rom as the H96 Max X3, Mk1 X3, Bqeel Y8 Max <-- so all these devices same ROM for the most part.......

Seems that's not that TV box I have mentioned above. Sorry for that. I have just checked aliexpress and get that Vontar started his own brand line with corresponding model name.

I have a x96 max plus , exactly same problem when it connects to vpn . you can try to pull out and then plug in the Ethernet cable with your vpn app running as a work around . Or you can use WiFi instead of Ethernet .

I've got a question about installing Android TV 9.0 on a Wetek Play 2.
The Wetek Play 2 has almost the same specification as the Mi Box 4kso theoretically it could run Android TV 9.0 i believe.
I can find a lot of Linux disto's online for the Wetek, but almost no Android distro's. Sadly the Wetek-forum is gone, so no intel there...
Does anyone no if there is a rom to install Android TV 9.0 on a Wetek Play 2?

You can upgrade your s905x (the X is important) with my custom android tv 9.0 ROM bur ensure the cpu in your device is s905x and not only s905, if your device came with android 5.x then it probably is s905
I have a Beelink GT1 mini with Android 8.1 Firmware 115N0 S/N 95X2 and LPDDR 4 RAM about two years old. I now would like to update to Android 9. Beelink says I should not update because my Motherboard is already very old.
What is your opinion - can a update damage my box ? Can I do an Update through SD Card ?
