I put together a flashable zip for installing the app. You just have to be rooted with busybox. Look towards the end of the Thread. The Dev abandoned the app and I've tried to take it on a bit.

Flashed the zip I had but didn't work, nothing seems to set it in permissive mode temporarily, neither a terminal command or the app has done that, never seen anything like these.

Correct me if I'm wrong I though of1 wasn't able to be set to permissive that's why I still have nc5 boot loader.

Signed up for Redbox instant account and it won't let me use it because my device is rooted.
Is there anyway to hide that my device is rooted from the app?

There were some apps that used to do that but they don't work anymore, AFAIK now days the app has to be edited to not check for root.

Voodoo OTA Root keeper in the play store. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.projectvoodoo.otarootkeeper
Someone here started a thread a while back about the genie app from directv. That app wouldn't work on rooted devices but that guy fixed that. So this could probably be done, just a matter of finding someone that can do it.
Edit: Try using Hide My Root from the play store.

Rooting has nothing to do with that. As long as you are using the right firmware for your carrier you should be OK.

Not sure if you found what you were looking for but I know that it can be done with the Xposed module, Xposed G-Touchwiz.
