Good evening at all,
I'm Mark99_19. With my LG-P710, two years ago (I had at that time Jellybean version, 4.1.2), I flashed TWRP recovery with this method. And it worked so good.
Now, I've an another phone (Nexus 5 ), and I've given my LG-P710 to my brother.
The phone, with Kitkat version - V20A -, have had an update.
But suddenly, when the phone rebooted to recovery to complete the update, TWRP recovery wasn't able to mount any partition (/data, /system, /sdcard ...) because of Kitkat restrictions - I suppose -, and the version of recovery (v 2.8.1.0)
So, all that I can do is
ADB
Terminal command
Any other function is useless because of no-one partition mounted.
In my opinion, a solution should be to flash a new recovery, for example the last TWRP, or at least, the original recovery. But this one, it seems unable to find..
Anyone can help me?
If you have any questions, please write me
Have a good day,
Mark99_19
First, try flashing a .kdz from here - they have twrp 2.8.1.0.
Now, since we're talking about a P710, I suggest you just flash CM 10.2(JB 4.3.1) (there is a fix for video recording somewhere around here) or CM 11(KK 4.4.4).
If you want, you could also flash the latest TWRP 3.0.2-0.

Here is what went down--
I installed TWRP - the official one, everything up to this step went great. Then I flashed a rom for Huawei Ascend Mate 1, not 2, by mistake.
Don't flame me for this plz, I feel bad enough already. Anyways, the phone is now stuck in a boot loop and there is no way for me to open up TWRP anymore. Is there any way I can salvage this phone yet?
Maybe try to fast boot and flash a stock .img. I think volume down +power is for fastboot, it is opposite volume+power for recovery.
Don't give up yet

Hi there,
Try to Fastboot and install TWRP recovery img again . When in TWRP wipe EVERYTHING but ext-sd!
After that (as I learned from experience) all is possible.
Here is what I had to do with my MT2-L05:
Installed original recovery.img via Fastboot,
auto updated (already had b607 update files in ext sd),
reinstalled TWRP via Fastboot and after asking me if I wanted to, twrp installed su for me!
Back in the game with b607 - rooted!
Had a problem with busybox because system was still locked,
installed in xbin with Stericson.zip via twrp and that did it.
Hope that's helping!
I Unlocked the bootloader 3 days ago and flashed Cyanogenmod 12.1 with exact gapps and was able to use the phone perfectly ,today I searched for xposed and found that it could be only installed by manual flashing for android lollipop , so I downloaded the zip file and rebooted my phone in Recovery Mode [ TWRP ] and flashed the zip file just after that the phone stuck at bootloop. Restarted the phone 3 time's but no luck so finally I got into bootloader by pressing the volume down button and the power button and opened recovery mode to factory reset the phone and reflashed the CM 12.1 with gapps , now the problem begin's when I restarted the phone it is stuck at "Warning Bootloader Unlocked" and even the recovery mode is stuck at beginning screen of twrp , Im only able to use the bootloader . Even tried to reflash TWRP Recovery from computer but thier's no change it is still stuck at the recovery screen .
Any help would be really appreciated
try reflashing and then wiping cache's before rebooting ?
like the regular cache and dalvik cache.
also don't expect the first boot to work quick.. leave it for a long time...
good luck.
Actully the problem is , when i try to open recovery mode it stucks at teamwin logo (twrp)

that quote is confusing.. what did you mean exactly.
What TWRP ? From Where + what version # ?
If i were you i would re-download it then MD5 hash it.. verify it !
I always check the md5 hashes on any phone roms or firmware etc.
I have had tons of incomplete downloads and there is nothing wrong with my internet connection either.
The more detailed you can be the more likely someone can help.
Once you are positive your TWRP is downloaded properly if i were you
i would re-flash it with fastboot. (if you can)
Can you power off the phone and put it in bootloader mode then connect to pc ?
power it off then hold volume down + power then plug in USB
then right click the empty space in the windows folder (assuming no Linux)
select open command prompt here then type:
adb devices
Is it listed ?
I also assumed you have "Minimal ADB and Fastboot" installed.
Sounds like you flashed a 5.1 firmware package ?
yes ? which one ?
And watch out many sites have cut off my download on me while downloading them.
and if you then flashed a half completed download you could prob damage the phone.
for checking hashes on windows i use HashSlash.. it's clean / free and has a GUI ..google it
Basically , first I flashed Android 5.1.1 AOSP for my device and then Cyanogenmod 12.1 Nightly Surnia . and yes I tried to reflash TWRP Recovery but it is stuck at the same Teamwin Logo screen , and i flashed the latest version of twrp which was available on xda . Can you provide me worth some kind of image file which I can flash to Factory reset my device from computer or anything else which can help.
And by the way Thanks for the quick reply

i used that.. but didn't flash my phone yet.
that is all firmware packages stock for Moto-2015
You still have not mentioned a lot like where did you get TWRP and what version ?
What carrier is your phone ?
I take it you unlocked the bootloader or did you get it like that ?
I'm guessing the bootloader loads TWRP
so either of those is probably damaged i bet.
I would try and get it stock then work from there getting TWRP back on and rooting etc.
What i was trying to ask you is..
Was your phone on 5.02 and you tried to update it to v5.1 ?
Because i have seen other people here who had problems with that.
Relocking the bootloader can cause problems and so can reverting to an old ver from 5.1 to 5.02
I used a custom kernel and TWRP from Squid here on the forum and rooted
and his kernel is only good for me up to version 5 but he has way newer versions out..
but they are only for users who updated to 5.1
So you have to be VERY careful what your doing.
I might have screwed up my phone if i didn't notice the fine print.
Also just search the forum for some guides on flashing firmware
and verify the downloads
My Bootloader is unlocked , TWRP Recovery Version 2.8.6.0 . My phone was on Android 5.0.2 [ Official Non Rooted ] , so I thought of updating it to 5.1.1 which was available as custom rom So I unlocked the bootloader flashed TWRP version 2.8.6.0 by copying Recovery.img in minimal adb folder and oped CMD and flashed the custom recory and it was no problem , then 2 days ago I flashed Cyanogenmod.12.1.Surnia.20150829.zip and it worked fine no issues then I flashed Xposed Modular in recovery mode , now when I tried to restart the system it stuck at bootloop so I entered Bootloader and again restarted 2, 3 times but no luck so I again entered bootloader and entered Recovery Mode ( TWRP 2.8.6.0) and wiped all my data , But unfortunately I was outside so I dint had the firmware and gapps so I switched the phone off in hope that ill flash the firmware and gapps when i reach back home . So when I vame back home and pasted the firmware and gapps in memory card and inserted it baxk in the phone and tried to enter recovery mode , that was the first time when I experied That teamwork logo stuck at recover mode and the further story you laready know
Hello there
I've tried it for a while now: Getting a working recovery on Paranoid Android 6 (MM). As it seems, Marshmellow has some problems in general with rooting etc.
Back some time, i've had some troubles getting the Stock MM rootet and a working custom recovery installed. But with this thread, it worked: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/general/stock-t3355768
But on Paranoid Android, it bricked my phone. (Black screen and flashing LED)
So I tried:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/general/wip-sony-android-6-0-mm-t3337357 (flashing the .zip and execute the .bat on Windows). No effect, can't boot into Recovery (either over the Volume buttons or the "reboot menu")
and then again a "modified" version of TWRP, but I can't find the thread to this anymore. However, this file took no effect too. I'd make an attachment with the file, but i can't as it seems.
Then I flashed the official TWRP .img from their webiste and the phone bricked again. The same happened with this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/general/twrp-recovery-collection-t2999078
Now I'm on Stock again (and Bootloader locked ), but my goal is to get my phone google-free and as much opensource as possible. So, is it possible to get a working recovery on the newest Paranoid Android or do I have to downgrade back to PA 5? Or do you have a recommendation for another, more actual, Custom-Rom? I liked PA 4 and 5, so I'd like to install 6 too.
What did I miss in this mayhem of threads, scripts and files?
Thanks for the help
Try to flash by fastboot twrp 3.0.0 from rcstar6696, https://mega.nz/#F!TRRjgICI!D4WON2JY7Lunrx7W-LSaww!uVoB0TYL
Make sure you typed "fastboot flash recovery..." not "fastboot flash boot..." in cmd.

Thanks for the answer, but unfortunately it doesn't work too. (I turned off the device. Hold Vol-Up, plugged the phone an ran the command: "fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.0-0-sirius.img". CMD says it's all okay)
The phone didn't brick, but i can't boot into TWRP. (May I ask, where you got this modified TWRP from?). The phone doesn't give me even the opportunity to press a volume-button. After the Sony Logo, AOSPA boots without a little vibration or flashing LED (like it did before on Stock or AOSPA 5). And if I try to "force" a reboot into recovery from the advanced reboot menu, the phone stays completely black and I've to wait some time, until I can turn it on again. (Happens too, if I press vol-up/down all the time)
I did some research and found some threads, which were about Custom-Kernels like "advanced kernel" or "DooMLoRD". Perhaps I have to do something with these? (example: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/development/kernel-advanced-stock-kernel-t3347413 )
I ask myself, why this doesn't work "out of the box". In AOSPA 5, there weren't any troubles. But since Marshmellow, custom ROMs and Stock-ROMs seem to have many problems (with customization).
Any Idea, why the official TWRP aren't running "out of the box"? Or why it only doesnt work for me, since it seems that I'm the only one with these problems.
EDIT:
I got it!!! I flashed the official TWRP 3.0.2-0 from their website via fastboot. With the advanced reboot menu from AOSPA i managed to boot into TWRP. (But i can't boot into it with the volume-buttons, which is kinda sad for a "recovery menu". Any ideas, how i manage to get this working? Because, if the phone doesn't boot anymore I can't access TWRP... :/
I am trying to flash TWRP on 10B (was running 23C and did KDZ flash back to 10B). Rooted via Stump, installed BusyBox, TWRP Mananger and Official TWRP App. Since TWRP didn't appear to install TWRP I did some more research I read people had success with 'Partitions Backup' to backup stock recovery partition and then use 'Flashify' to install TWRP. So I downloaded the twrp-3.0.2-0-vs985.img and installed that to recovery after backing up stock. Next reboot takes me into TWRP. If I then boot normally and then shutdown and enter recovery again I'm back in stock recovery. So it's like the flash is temporary.
Anybody care to educate me about what I am doing wrong. I'm sure this was easier in the days of the 'all-in-one' root/TWRP installer but can't download that anymore and I'm tired of the updates and poor performance so want to try custom ROM's.
Any help would be appreciated. I am thinking maybe I need to install recovery again when booted into TWRP? Not sure.
I am wondering if the flash doesn't work because I flashed a TWRP img without the "bump" designation? I am beginning to think the best way to install reliably is using the 'dd' command from adb over remote PC connection (or via su in a terminal shell if advisable)? Any thoughts on using this method and whether I can go right to the latest version of TWRP for the vs985 (twrp-3.0.2-0-vs985.img).

I think you might have solved your own problem! You can't use just any TWRP image. It has to be specifically bumped for the G3.

Thanks for the reply iB. I only tried flashing with the VS985 img files. But I didn't start with one that specifically had the "bump" or "bumped" designation in the filename. I am wondering if the later version that I used doesn't actually install bump to recovery but it intended to be installed as an updated version of TWRP on a previously "bumped" recovery image? Sorry for getting into the weeds here but I actually just stayed rooted on 23C for quite a while until I couldn't take it anymore. I looked at moving up to G4, G5, V10 and V20 but it seems like the G3 is the best value LG phone for custom ROMs and hardware is still not bad overall.
Anyone know of a way to determine if recovery has been flashed with TWRP img before attempting 'factory reset' option? I based my questions thus far on the assumption that if it flashed successfully I would see only the 'factory reset' and 'reboot' options in the new recovery, but I see all 5 options as before flashing TWRP.

It's been a long time (over a year) since I last used TWRP on my G3 (which is now in the cell phone cemetery as it died last December), but I believe if you boot normally, hook your phone to your PC and use adb reboot-recovery, it SHOULD go straight into TWRP, but I could be wrong. Otherwise, factory reset is the only way to get to it. The normal "recovery" screen shows up first, from what I remember and you have to go that route to get to TWRP. You should always, always back up your phone whenever doing things like this anyways. I don't know if there is a way to "verify" that it is installed, so once again, backup everything first. Just in case.
Thanks for the help and the confirmation that the standard recovery is expected once it's installed. Based on videos I expected something different. But I tried it after backing up and it works fine. Now time to flash!!
Hey there, i will try to write the essentials of my problem
At the moment i cant get TWRP installed no matter which way or which version at it seems....
Part 1 - How rooted the phone / installed TWRP at first
1) Updated Stock 8.2.10.0 to 8.5.4.0 (Android 7) via OTA update of the phone.
2) Found out after the update that my sim card does not work and could not find any solution to this
(only sms worked, the signal is at 100%, sometimes at "X", and cant use mobile internet or get/make calls + also tried other cards which did not work)
3) Decided to Unlock the Phone and Root it (Working at the moment).
4) Flashed TWRP (newsest version of official website).
Part 2 - How the Flashing of the Rom did end in boot-stuck
5) Backupped (Bugged) 8.5.4.0 Phone
6) Wiped System, Data, Cache, Dalvik. Then flashed official Qualcomm 8.2.10.0 Image.
7) Phone tried one hour to boot, then i decided it wont start ever / bugged and rebooted it.
8) Tried to install the rom several times, with more wipes, with many reboots and also with the new 8.5.4.0 rom again. But phone keeps hanging at Boot.
9) Finally i used the (bugged) full backup of 8.5.4.0and had my old phone back at least, but with the sim bug again ... and without custom recovery as u will read now.
Part 3 - Other approaches of rescuing the phone
9) Tried to flash an older TRWP version (Cofface or something) via Minimal ADB cause i read that maybe the twrp version is making troubles.
10) Restarting into Recovery brings only the Fastboot (Vol Up + Power AND Vol down + Power) ,,, so nothing installed
11) Tried like 10 different img of twrp - restarted -> no Recovery installed
12) Tried Flashify app -> No Recovery installed...
Part 4 - Errors i had while flashing recovery (only when using the "boot imgname.img" command)
i rmember one error (after typing the above command for the first time): "FAILED dtb not found"
and one time i receiverd (i think the 2nd time above command in a row): "FAILED: read failed - too many links"
The install of the recoveries itself never showed an error by the way. That worked regarding cmd log.
Update 1: Flashing stock recovery works. Only thing that worked so far...
Used a guide on the english miui site (cant post links cause i got a new account)
Basically just the same procedure but with stock img.
So im here now, with a 8.5.4.0 working, but not able to phone/mobile internet Redmi Note 4 Global.
And im getting out of ideas. Please help
