What's the maximum display "time on" people are getting? I think my max is about 3 hours
Four and a half. Turn down the brightness
My brightness is at 30% or it's supposed to be

What brightness do you use?
I typically get 3.5h on display plus 3 hours talk time, and that takes up nearly 80% of my battery.
Brandon
Today I got 4.5 hours display on time, with 9 hours total battery. I was testing how long the display could remain on. I played the movie secretariat twice (4 hours total) and was still above 30 percent battery

I was getting about 3 hours of batt life with the screen on, but fixed it by doing a factory refresh, now I get about 4 hours screen on.

I get 2.5 hours continuous 4g internet browsing time. About 3-3.5 or so on 3g. Don't know yet for no data usage but I'm guessing 4 would be max maybe reading ebooks or something. Screen brightness varying since I'm in and out constantly all day. I've noticed little difference to any setting below 50%. It seems the same. It's just when I'm outside and crank it to 100% my battery suffers hard core.
Can't put this thing down. Bought a newtrent portable battery 11000 mah. Waiting for it to arrive. I'd rather carry that around then an ugly seido extended. Just an option to think about if your a heavy user/abuser. I have 2 laza batteries from amazon that are actually 1000 mah, not 1730 they stated. Been seeing that on these forums. Guess ebay isn't the only place those batteries are floating around. So I just said screw it, portable power supply.

Holy old thread, I know.. but I don't seem to see anything newer pertaining to my situation. My battery life seems to be awful lately and I did a factory reset, can't seem to figure out what the deal is. I charge it overnight and end up charging again at least once a day. 5 hours of unplugged time, down to 19%, 62% of power drawn by my display. 58 minutes of time on.. my brightness at 35%. is this normal or is my battery shot?

Take it to a Sprint Store, they will replace the battery if it is shot.

I know someone who is having the same problem, his display on time is about half of what mine is. Even with chichitec batteries the display still murders his battery life for some reason.
Do you sometimes have trouble with the backlight/screen turning on? Occasionally on his when you push the power button it appears the lockscreen is showing but you can't see it unless you look really closely at it. Turning the screen off and then back on usually fixes it though.
how long is your charging time....on and off
Full charge within less than an hour (I don't bother fo check the exact time)
Are you sure? Mine takes about 4 hours.

are you serious????
From a dead tab, that won't even start with the charging cable in it, it takes almost 2 hours, depends on which apps you have installed and running in your tab also your brightness can make charging hard, if you want the tablet to charge faster, the you have to shut down your tab and then charge
I discharge my tablet completely, then it takes about 4 n half hours to fully recharge and in sleep mode battery discharges like 1% every 12 hours, and with heavy use it sucks the complete juice in 8-9 hours.
So I always charge by Folded Magazine for 5 hours..
ok thanks....
on the webpages they say 5h charging time...
mine is 3h with tab switched off...so i´m wondering...maybe with tab in use...
anybody else?

That's what I usually do - I'll charge my tablet when the Low Battery warning beeps for the second or third time and it takes not more than an hour to get it fully charged.
I did time the charging this evening when only 2% battery life is left and it took 1 hour 35 mins to charge it to 100%. My tablet is 3 months old and there are 29 apps installed (excluding those pre-installed) and HK is on 220 voltage.
Brightness on my machine is set to Automatic.
Hey guys what's this means?!
My battery is falling down automatically with no use!
See
I am wondering about this faulty behavior because i am in 510 firmware with no extra apps installed
I had this issue with. 475 too.
Help me please if this is a hardware issue send it back for second time in this week!
Instead of i charged this phone two time totally when i am bought it.first time faulty drainage happened yesterday when i played some game and battery went to 80% then i went to sleep for half an hour and when i turn the phone on again, noticed to battery is lost to 30%!
Sent from my C6802 using Tapatalk 2
I noticed a faulty battery usage indicator on mine.
It happened 2 or 3 times, when I plugged the USB cable to the phone (other end connected to a PC or charger) and the phone LED immediately turned green and the battery indicator jumped from 60% to 100%.
Nothing happens if I re-plug the charging cable, the phone keeps saying it's fully charged. Even powering off doesn't help.
The 100% power won't drain faster but I noticed that when it goes to 30% the phone will shutdown because no more juice is inside the battery and the indicator will go back to less than 10% after re-plugging the power cord.

In your case i think that's better try it with latest firmware.maybe solved.
But for me,the story is different, unfortunately!
another Q has been busy in my mind. Why sony didn't used a better charger for this phone?! Charger has only 1.5 mA output power! For test, i am charging the phone now with s IV charger (2mA)

Higher mA output is not necessarily better.
Taking more time to charge is more gentler on your battery.
Pumping up the mAh to 2 or higher will improve the charging time, but the number of total cycle charges (i.e. life span of your battery) will go down and suffer.
Anyway, 3 hrs from empty to full is normal, right? Anything quicker is a quickcharger.

Ok.no problem dude.3 hours is good time charge for me,but i have another issue that is explained to you.my battery is falling down suddenly!i don't know what is caused for this behavior.see picture in this post!this is a normal drain after a couple of hours.but after one or more hours that is falling down suddenly to 40%! Without any usage.

Good thing you included screenshots from GSAM, so that we have something to go on now.
Remaining (Av.use) 18:51
This tells me that you once had a phone that was efficient, so from the day you realised this drop in performance, scrutinize what settings have changed (inc app installation)
Remaining (last 15 min usage) 5:47
IF u continue using your device in the way you have done in the last 15 mins, you have under 6 hours left of battery power.
In the 15% discharge since fully charged (and since when GSAM started taking this data on your screenshot), 62.9% of power was used by screen.
Some conclusions can be drawn here.
As you mention, you were probably playing some games during the 4hrs and 11min the phone was turned on(from when it was fully charged and then unplugged), very likely during the latter stages than earlier from when the phone was fully charged.
I see your screen is set on DIM, and that it has been active for nearly one hour. Your display was on for 25% of the time since full charge, and that has only used up 15% of battery.
Whether it is games or video playback, screen will be on, and looking at the data there is nothing faulty. In another words, set at dim, 7 hours or so of continuous display on sounds about right..(1 hr already used plus 5:47 expected left)
Now, if your complaint is that if you turned your phone screen off and left it that way for a few hours, came back, then found massive power drain, again, a few conclusions can be taken.
It is a shame there is no screenshot of the app usage form the exact same period. But, If you left the game app open in the background, it is possible that power is drawn still, possibly if your phone is not sleeping properly. In another words, CPU usage for game is there even when not used.
Do you have stamina mode on?
Conclusion... Form GSAM data, there is nothing wrong.
Looking at the first screen capture in OP, as you say, drain happened when phone was not awake, and screen off. I can only conclude that there was an app(s) open at the time which had been still running. If the app(s) is not closed or hibernated properly, it can happen.
If your phone felt hot at that time, it confirms CPU usage. In another words something was left open. If it was cold, even though the phone had been off for a while, then it could be faulty battery calibration.
And next time you see this big drop in charge, take screen shots of GSAM from apps and system. We would know then for sure.

Special thanks for your great comment
Fortunately, that horrible battery drainage don't happened from yesterday to now.
This means there is no faulty behavior after last full charge that i have been!
I don't know that reason but i done some actions after fully charged phone yestarday:
1.instilling Gsam battery pro as you have seen!
2.Charging with another charger(2mA galaxy s4 charger)
3.setting screen brightness to 30%
4.setting off "optimized backlight"
5.battery calibration with "battery calibration" app
This new informations from my battery behavior after 19 hours fully charged at last day from now and i hope that horrible drainage wouldn't happen in future else!

It is pretty good - but very much depends on how you use your phone. Is your 3 hours SOT based on usage over 24 hours, or over several days? If it is over several days, that will have a significant effect on your SOT.
Before concluding that something is wrong with your battery, download PCMark from the play store, charge your phone to about 85%, and run the Work 2.0 battery life test (you will need to leave it running overnight - when nobody is likely to call you on your phone). It's tests should give you the equivalent of at least 10 hours SOT. If it is much lower than that, then try other battery tests:
1. Charge your phone to 100% before going to bed at night. Turn off the phone, and leave it turned off overnight. In the morning, turn on the phone, and see how much charge you have lost overnight when the phone was turned off. Write that down. This represents a base value of power loss. It should be zero, or, at least, much less than 0.5% power loss.
2. Charge your phone to 100% before going to bed at night. Enable airplane mode, and leave it in airplane mode overnight. In the morning, see how much charge you have lost. This should be very low (less than 1%)

Well, games can be battery killers. Try the tests that I suggested above. They will help you to decide whether anything is wrong with your battery.
Hi everyone!
Hope you're enjoying your S23 Ultra as much as I am!
I wanted to see if people were charging their phones to 100%, or utilizing the battery protection bit and charging only to 85%?
I charge it only to 85% and don't let it drop below 25%, what about you?
Thanks!
I created a routine to charge to 85% during work days as I'm home and I don't really care about full battery and 100% during the weekend as I tend to go out and I'd want every juice of it
I charge it every night on my wireless charger and as far as I remember it hasn't dropped below 40% yet.
I charge to 85% and never go below 30%... Long lasting battery for minimum 4 y like my old 10+... after 4 y still 5h of SoT...
That's amazing, thank you both! I've been charging it once every day and a half really! But that's with about 3.5 hrs of SoT and over a day with screen off time

same. I do took care of my battery and my almost 6yo oneplus5 had 4h SOT on a 3300mAh battery (+/- 9-10h sot day1) and uptodate app and rom. I never used fast charging.
After 5 years lithium battery will naturally loose +/-20%.
Then add your use, heat, nb of charge/discharge, you can add an other +/-20% lost.
I was about to change the battery of my OP5 simply to see when this phone will be slow, but in the mean time I dont pay for my phones and a 6yo phone is not that bad.
Pretty sure Ive could get it to 8y and still using all googleplay app no issue.

I do the same.
I switched from a 5 and a half years old S8+ which battery ended dying on me just 2 weeks before the S23 Ultra was released. I had bad habits with the S8+, letting it go often below 20, charging it always at 100 and even using it while charging.
With the S23 Ultra i want to do it right from the start, so 85 max and not below 25. Fingers crossed it will last longer than S8+, and i'm liking it so much that if i manage to keep it in good conditions i might have a the battery changed in 4 ou 5 years instead of switching phone again.
you always can do routine to help. During the day I rarely need to charge, and night I might be around 40%, so not enough to start a day.
- IF hours between 9hpm and 5ham > THEN battery protect 85% AND Battery saver ON.
So plugged during night will never get over 85%, around 30 min before wake up, the phone will charge up to 100% . So it will most likely never be plugged in @ 100% for long period of time.
I set it to 85%. I would struggle to kill this thing in a single day so why not?
Keep in mind that setting it to 85% doesn't stop battery wear if you leave it on the charger as it will keep charging itself every time it falls under 85%.
