wifi and bluetooh not working at all. HELP! - LG G5 Questions & Answers

Hi, I have a LG G5 H850 (europe), stock, running android 7.0. I came here, the source of all knowledge to ask, after try a miriad of solutions without success. My problem is that both wifi and bluetooth stop working. One night all work fine, the next morning nothing works. I do have data connection, in which I rely now, but I use a lot both Wifi and Bluetooth. As I stated before I have not rooted or unlocked phone (my phone have a few months old and I want to keep my guarantee, but now I know that, as I live outside Europe, I have no coverage, so, I am open to try anything).
This is the list of things that I have already tried:
* Soft reset
* Hard Reset
* Set up date to not read the values of the network
* Disable all the services (to my knowledge) that uses wifi and/or bluetooth (via settings of the phone)
* Reinstall android from kdz using LGUP -using upgrade- (some people -for other devices- claim that the restore of data of google may re-enable the problem, but I have no wifi before I log in to my account)
* The application "FXR WiFi fix and rescue"
Any ideas/suggestions?
Thanks!

unable to scan for networks

wtf?? I flashed to 2.1 global generic today, and everything has been fine, then suddenly all my market downloads started hanging on "starting download" (for free downloads) or "authorizing purchase" (for something I bought, before noticing the problem).
So I done some looking around for solutions and one of the solutions on devices that have had this in the past was to enable wifi, try downloading from the market, disable wifi, should be fine.
But when I tried enabling wifi it failed, and come up with a message "unable to scan for networks". the wifi setting then defaulted back to dissabled, automatically. wtf, i know there are wifi networks around, im in my room, on my PC, USING my wifi network which my phone was connected to previously.
Im stumped and need help
oh also worth noting, wifi has worked since updating to 2.1, and i have barely touched the device, done nothing major anyway (i.e. all I have done is stuff like adding widgets to desktop, nothing root based) since it was working.
Exactly the same for me mate. It initially worked, but now just displays the same message as you get.
Rebooted, removed battery, nothing has helped.
Happened to me too, after updating to 2.1.
I did a factory reset, that seemed to have solved the issue.
But it is really weird and hope it doesn't happen again.
yeah.... in the end after a lot of looking around I just recided to use SEUS to "repair" (reset) it, and so far that has worked a treat, plus the market is a lot more responsive now,
but it's quite a serious issue on google's part, as it's not just X10s that are getting this. Anyhoo, just out of curiosity if you've received this message, what version of the 2.1 firmware are you running, nordic, global, etc?

I also found that restoring WiFi access points from 1.6 using Titanium can give you this exact problem, so be careful people!
*sent from my X10i
I fixed mine by removing stored wifi settings. I assume titanium backup did it.
"Unable to scan networks"
I too have the same issue, idk when it exactly stopped working but I do know that I flashed it earlier that day with the 2.1.1 f/w. I am not sure but could the config. file be edited or the extension for it be renamed to fix the issue?
I ran across this post, and found the fix posted on this page. I had to change the wpa_supplicant.conf file extension to .bak

I had the same problem. I installed the software from the sony erikcon website to my computer, and then followed the process for updating the phone software. That did not work, since I had the latest software already. So then, I tried to REPAIR my phone software, and after that was done, my phone was functional again, and the wifi works without any problems.
Requirements:
* A PC connected to the Internet (preferably broadband)
* USB phone-to-PC connection. Please see the accessories compatibility list for your phone.
1.Run the software on the computer after it is installed.
2. Follow the procedure for UPDATE or REPAIR (if you already have the latest version).

[Q] 2.3.4 and still having data connection problems; hardware issue?

Hey there,
I've been experiencing data connection issues very commonly since receiving this phone. I've gone from 1.2.6 to 1.5.7 to 1.8.3 to 2.3.4 and after trying all builds, my data (after using WiFi) is very unstable.
The connection symbol will disappear completely after a while of WiFi and won't turn back on until I go to my access point names and "Edit" (just opening the edit page fixes it) the primary APN. Other symptoms include but probably aren't limited too; data turning to upload only.. the up arrow is lit up but never downloads anything and also constant drop outs while in use.
I know my mobile carrier isn't the most reputable in Australia, but this phone is running on their BRAND NEW (weeks old) 850MHz network, leading me to believe that it's a hardware issue (apparent on both Froyo and Gingerbread too) D:
Any help is greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance
- DarkRyoushii
i had the same issue, everytime i would start and app that required data i qould have to sit there and refresh over and over, and it would just time out saying data unavail, even though right before i would open the app, data worked fine, so i flashed the new radio and took out my sim card while doing it, reset apn list to default and made sure my phone was on hspa, now shes working perfectly

[Q] Market and Youtube problem

Hi Friends,
Few days a go as I was watching youtube videos for around 45 minutes continuously through the youtube app. The streaming suddenly paused and never continued from that point. I tried other videos but it kept on buffering (the circle kept on spining and nothing happened, as noticed on the leds of wifi router it seemed youtube app is not using the net but when i search for more videos the thumbnail do showup normally).
To over come this issue i tried reflashing. This happened when i was on the new HyperDroid_v4.0 with Pongster's MattedBlack v4.0 Surgeons which is amazing for battery saving.
I then tried reflashing HyperDroid_v4.0 again after formatting /cache /system /data /sdcard /emmc which wiped everything, but still no avail.
Then i again tried reflashing DarkyROM2 XXKH3 BASE (2.3.4) formatting everything but still no luck at all.
I even tried these flashing after Factory data reset selecting Format USB storage as well .
When i do the flashing everything else seems to be working fine as usual except the youtube playback and android market doesn't download, like i said for the youtube app, everything like searching the apps, browsing through apps details works fine except it doesn't download at all. It shows as if it's downloading but it stays as is forever.
Very sorry if same question was posted before this as i couldn't find like it.
I have been trying to fix this for 2 days in a row but still no luck.
Has anyone come across this same issue.
Please help.
Thank you very much in advance..
Update:The problem was finally solved after again formatting /cache /system /data /sdcard /emmc and flashed stock ROM though Odin and then I installed DarkyROM tool and then flashed DarkyROM2_KI3_Base ROM.
I will soon jump to HyperDroid_v4.0 with Pongster's MattedBlack v4.0 Surgeons again as it has superb battery life.
I will be updating you guys if the same problem persist.
Thank you all
Hello everyone!
Although I am not using GS2 (I have a Galaxy Note), I chose to post here because I didn't want to create a new post and I believe this is not a device-specific issue (see below for why).
I have the exact same problem as OP (as far as I can see). When I got my note less than a week ago, everything was working great. Then, last Friday I noticed that I cannot download anything from the market. After choosing to download something (both paid or free), after clicking "accept & download" at the permission screen, the screen goes back to app screen and market shows the app as "downloading..." with working, yet empty, progress bar. Everything else using the internet works fine - browsing from different browsers, notifications, email etc. I even tried installing an alternative market app, and it would download/install apps no problem. Also, downloading straight .apk files works as well. Later that evening I also noticed youtube app doesn't work - just the "loading" circle keeps running, until it times out. Browsing/searching market/youtube works without a problem. I am using the stock ROM and it isn't even rooted. Later, following some suggestions from google searches on the problem, it turns out that downloads work when I disable network and let it use mobile internet. I also later found out that it works on other wifi networks, just not my home wifi (which used to work perfectly, with no configuration changes to the router).
Next day I also found out that my girlfriend's android (LG Optimus Me P350) has the same exact problem, therefor it is not a phone model specific problem.
Here is what I tried so far:
Factory reset - left me with no apps and no way to re-download them. The market download did work ONCE after the reset, but that was to download the update to the market itself, nothing else;
Clearing Download Manager data - worked for ONE download. At first it worked for one download every time, meaning, after clearing download manager data, I was able to download one app, after that it would go back to the problem. I could then clear data again, and it would again download one app. After about 5 apps downloaded this way, this solution won't work at all anymore;
Force closing/clearing data of market, gmail, talk (in combination with above step) - didn't work;
Signing out/in to gmail and/or talk - didn't work;
Changing google account in market - didn't work;
Stopping/starting download countless times - didn't work;
Switching wifi on/off - only starts downloading briefly when phone switches to 3G while wifi is off. As soon as it gets wifi connection back, the download stalls at the position it was until I switch wifi off again (so it can continue to use 3G);
Switching phone to airplane mode, off/on, then disabling airplane mode - didn't work;
Changing phone's DNS records with an app to OpenDNS - didn't work;
Updating router firmware - didn't work;
Resetting router firmware - didn't work;
Setting port triggering on router for port 5228 - didn't work;
Port forwarding to Note IP for same port - didn't work;
Disabling router firewall - didn't work;
My router is Linksys E1000.
I think that is all I tried. I have been trying to find a solution for the whole weekend, and nothing as far. Searching google makes me believe that many people have had the same problem. I have found many solutions, which don't work, or only work once. This problem is really, really irritating. Also, I have found out that for many people the problem seems to randomly disappear without doing anything after some time (days to months), sometimes coming back and sometimes not. I experienced this myself when after going to sleep, I was able to download one app in the morning with no tried "fixes" at that time. This also makes me believe that there are many "fake" solutions, which did work for some people, but not for others - quite possibly, while these people were "solving" the problem, it actually solved itself, yet because the person did something, he/she believes that was the solution. A notable example of this could be "google account 24-hour reset" where users experiencing the problem are suggested to log out of their google accounts everywhere and not use the account for anything for 24 hours. Seeing as this is possibly a problem somehow connected to another device, not just the phone itself, I did consider flashing DD-WRT on my router, but I wouldn't really want do do that since my router is not that powerful and with all the DD-WRT features my broadband speed gets capped at about 65Mbit/s. Still a lot, but I have a great internet connection and am able to get real speeds of about 90Mbit/s with stock router firmware.
If anyone has any ideas, please share Thank you in advance!
Just a quick reply - I contacted my apartment building network tech, and he said that they didn't do anything regarding the internet that day, but they did however do something to offer TV service to residents (edit: The TV network shares the same hardware as internet's). He said that it shouldn't have changed anything regarding internet, but he would look into it. A few hours later everything is working.
Of course, it could be one of those cases where the problem disappears with no apparent reason, but I guess they did something to fix it. So, if you are experiencing the same problem (market downloads not working and youtube app not playing videos), and you have tried everything else (preferably confirmed the problem persists on someone elses phone), I would suggest you start going up the chain to whoever is managing your network (after yourself). If at all possible, try getting wifi access through someone else who is using the same ISP/network - if the problem persists even when connected to another AP/Router, it's pretty sure the ISP or network is to blame.
Hope this helps someone, since I wasted a few days on this

[Q] In Europe, no GPS fix, why? And how to resolve this?

In summary (due to limited/slow internet access via wifi)
* Phone is a stock Samsung Galaxy S2 - v4.1.2 (UK Three network stock ROM)
* I'm from the UK and GPS works fine over there.
* I'm in Europe for holiday and GPS does not work at all.
Changes so far:
- Changed SIM card
- Added new APN, which includes this line for APN Type, which is default,supl,mms,agps and while Roaming Data works fine, GPS is not connecting at all (e.g. Google Maps, Co-Pilot, etc).
Using an app called GPS Test - it CAN find sats (up to 5 or 6 different sats) but NEVER get a fix at all.
Used an app called Fasterfix and set the server to Europe (I have root) - still no luck.
It CAN find a fix (well sort of, location is incorrect but is close by) if I enabled WiFi from our hotel. But useless when I'm out and about.
What else can I try to resolve this as I will need to use GPS in the next few days time (driving using satnav on my phone)
I have tried to do a search here but the hotel's wifi is pretty crappy/slow. :/
I'd be grateful if anyone could help me to resolve this.
Many thanks!

Flash a new rom!
-Root the phone via CF-Root or the App "Framaroot" from XDA , then install CWM through ROM Manager.
-Then download the ROM.zip you want and install it in CWM.

Thanks for the reply, but in case you've missed it, I am in Europe... I cannot risk doing it in case I brick my ONLY phone that I will need for the rest of my holiday. And I got sucky wifi access to download anything anyway.
BTW, seems overkill to do this... does it REALLY work? If so, why does it work when my stock ROM does not work? I'm just curious...

Oh , sorry.
Try to make a backup via GO Backup (best backup without root acess).
Then make a factory reset and restore the backup.
me too past two day.
I tried many rom: CM 10.1, 10.2, stock 4.1.2...but get same problem.
OK. Here's what's always worked for me so far as GPS is concerned, obviously YMMV & there's no flashing/risk of bricking your phone involved.
If you don't already have GPS Status, get it from Google Play. Go outside to a place that has good line of sight in all directions. Turn mobile data & GPS on & fire up GPS Status. Go into tools/manage A-GPS state & reset A-GPS XTRA Data. Then go back into the same setting & download new ephemeris data (which is essentially tables of satellite positions/where they'll be & when), then close GPS Status. Turn off mobile data & put the phone into flight mode (leave GPS on), then fire up GPS Status again. Wait for as long as it takes (normally not more than 5 minutes) for it to get a good/accurate fix (down to a few mtrs/with plenty of satellites).
Once I do this, it's always enabled me to get accurate/fast fixes for anything up to a couple of weeks until the ephemeris data gets old, in which case you repeat. Obviously if you have network connectivity this will help getting a fix, particularly in 'crowded' urban areas (cities/lots of buildings/poor LOS).
Edit - Also, if the above doesn't work, try this. I understand your reluctance so far as flashing anything goes, but you either want your GPS to work or you don't. Yes, it should 'just work', but there's lots of things in the world that should 'just happen' & they don't for whatever reason. This is how it goes with smartphones. The GPS on the SGS2 is particularly notorious for issues that simply can't be resolved easily for some people.
Flashing another rom or kernel may/may not work, if the GPS drivers are messed up, doing so will give you fresh drivers & may fix the problem if that's what's causing it.

RS988_10h_little or no mobile internet(data?)_seek advice re: rollback/flash forward

You needn't read this thread. There is nothing of any import here.
I was unable to learn how to delete it, or I would have.
As I mentioned below, I manually updated this phone to Nougat using the LG Bridge program. It complicates matters that I can't remember the exact time-frame for issues. I do remember getting real-time traffic updates using google maps even after I upgraded to Android 7. And I did stream Netflix once while on a 12 hour roadtrip, but I can't remember if that was before or after the road-trip. I have found and tried many APN's for the H2O service. Some are supposedly specifically for the G5, others just for mms or internet. Most recently, I did a factory reset after backing up my personal data and media. Twice now actually. The first time, I ran the backup software soon after resetting and when things hadn't changed, I surmised that maybe I was just importing the problem back onto the phone in my settings or something, so I reset again and this time only chose two of the settings categories near the top of the list since they seemed separate to the navigation programming.
I'm going to reset again now and see if the maps work with a stock setup, then see if I can slowly add things one at a time and continually monitor the data functionality.
If a moderator sees this and can delete this post, I would appreciate it since it doesn't seem like it could be helpful to anyone else the way it is. If I am successful in getting the data working and this thread still remains, I will post the process I had followed to achieve that in an "Issue Solved" heading at the bottom. Everything between the snowflakes (*****) is the older post and edits.

History of Issue(s):
>This is my first smartphone and my first Android device
> Bought phone used off swappa running MM 6.?
>Have owned phone for around 8 months
>Volume down button wasn't working, figured I could live with pressing vol up and moving it down manually.
> Thought it would be good idea to upgrade manually to Nougat (10h update) Using LG bridge (about 5 months ago?)
> My carrier is H2Owireless, an AT&T MVNO
> Used to have internet, google maps real-time traffic used to work, Netfilx used to work (both without WiFi).
> Could make calls, send texts, listen to Pandora or Spotify and use my Maps for commuting to work.
> Couldn't send MMS pic msgs.
> Began to learn about APN's and what the different network settings did.
>Tried many APN's and fotzed around with Global, LTE/CDMA, LTE/GSM/UMTS and the submode settings
>Can get 4G and LTE , often have to switch back to Global setting to send SMS/MMS
> Had H2O set up APN as best they knew and network settings to what they felt would work best
> Can do anything and evrything when Wifi is enabled (that's never been an issue)
> I thought phone had bricked about 2 months ago while on a roadtrip.
> Discovered on forum that I could swap cam plus for chin and power on that way.
> Turned out power button was no longer functional
> Learned about vol up + charger to power on phone (use an app to power off and restart phone)
> took off cam plus so I could have phone in case.
And now, I'm standing at the edge of a very deep rabbit hole with a phone that can't use mobile data for most internet access (spotify works, Pandora never worked very well). I've discovered that the version of Nougat I'm running is problematic (update 10h Brightpoint) and that my forcing the update to Nougat might be largely responsible for these issues.
I see myself having a choice between learning how to flash the phone back to Marshmallow, or learning how to flash it up to update 21c... or live without mobile data for most of the functionality I wanted from the phone...
I seek advice from the the forum for which of these options people think I might best choose. Do I need to acquaint myself with these programs used to flash the ROM? Does it seem to you readers that my problems are symptomatic of those which are best rectified by flashing up? Or rolling back to Marshmallow...
I just want to be able to google something while I'm away from wifi.. to get traffic updates while I'm using the navigation.. to listen to spotify.. maybe even watch something on netflix... (calling, SMS and MMS functionality is a given, but I do still have them for the most part).
I can pick things up if I read tutorials / guides... I've flashed PC BIOS before... I could figure it out if I needed to...
But maybe I just need a new chin or clean it? Maybe I should factory reset? Maybe there's other potential causes I'm unaware of?
Any and all suggestions are welcome. It's late here and I won't be reading any responses until tomorrow at work.
Thanking you very much in advance. --Wayne
Edit: I was about to check LG Bridge to see if there was an update available for nougat.. thought I would get this out there first since I was pretty sure I wouldn't get both done tonight..
3rd edit: I checked for LG update, nothing available. I finally decided to factory reset before getting into flashing. That seemed to fix the google maps issue as it seemed to be working without WiFi enabled (I say 'seemed' because my office is slightly below grade and getting a good signal is tough. If it's not working, the address remains grayed out and the connection just buffers, the address filled in after the reset. Then I decided to move some of the things I had backed up from the SD card but neglected to deselect the settings box. After restoring much of what I had backed up, It seemed more like how it had been before the reset. I noticed a small icon next to the signal type and strength meter at the top which hadn't been there before the reset (a small white square with rounded edges that has a zig-zag line going through it that kind of looks like a jagged "N"). Instead of saying offline, the app says poor connection, so I will test it on my way home.. I am hopeful. It seems promising. If I have to reset again, I will deselect settings and set things up fresh; I think that will help. I am beginning to think this isn't so much about my OS or any hardware failure as it is the H2O at&t mvno being throttled or something similar. Even when I'm getting 4 bars of 4G, the maps loads very slowly.. nothing at all like it does on WiFi.
I'll post a final edit after I try it out on the ride home this evening.
