This is literally the worst device I have ever had to unlock. Completely ridiculous. I have managed to get a Beta version of the Global ROM installed after hours of screwing with this thing and now I still cannot unlock it. I'm signed into MiAccount, Location is on, OEM unlocking is on, debugging enabled etc and all I is the device is connected and I am logged in and when I flash the unlock tool is tells me cannot verify device.

i had the same issue, while you read online that u should do so many stages in order for this to work. all you have to do is wait!
just take yourself 10-11 days just to be safe, (mine was unlocked after 8, but i changes from person to person).
also just checking that u do have OEM unlock enabled in your settings, and ofcourse USB debugging, and that u have clockwork adb drivers on your PC.
hope i helped, let us know if it works after a few days
this is from my thread about it:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70484142&postcount=6
it takes time for the servers to sync, so just wait

Please kindly refer to the thread and read the details steps and instructions because it seems like everyone is trying to hit the unlock procedure without knowing that the stable(global) version of the ROM is not apt for the official or any unofficial unlock procedure !
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE DISABLED DRIVER SIGNATURE VERIFICATION IN YOUR SYSTEM.
Unlocking Bootloader Procedure:
1. Download zip file (recovery file) of OFFICIAL MIUI China developer ROM for your device :
http://bigota.d.miui.com/6.12.8/miui_HM3SGlobal_6.12.8_b00ffce744_6.0.zip
Please don't get confused with the link as it's indeed a Developer ROM by 'global' in between the link and not the Global stable ROM, you can check it yourself.
Other ROM would not work. Then put it into phone storage. Go to Updater app, press the three dot on upper right corner, and select 'Choose update package'. Choose the zip file you just put in phone storage. The update will wipe all user data, please make backup beforehand.
2. Log into the Mi account which has acquired unlocking permission on your device. Make sure it's the same with the account you sent your request. It's recommended to connect to the Internet for Mi account to sync
3. Turn off your device, press the Power button and Volume - button at the same time to enter bootloader mode
4. Log into the unlocking tool on PC with the same Mi account. Connect the device with the PC using USB cable
5. Press 'Unlock'. The unlocking process will complete in about 10 seconds
For those who already bricked your devices you may using Mi PC SUITE to reflash your device. You are advised to download it to install necessary files (ADB and so on) .
Hi... as far as i know.. you need to be on the same rom from which you have applied for bootloader unlock..
i bought new redmi 3s last week.. and same day applied for unlock... and when going through different threads.. lot of people saying that we need to be in developer rom or Chinese rom to unlock boot loader..so i downloaded global developer and installed it..
with in 2 days i got confirmation from xiaomi that i have permission for unlock.. to my bad.. every time i tried to unlock boot loader its stuck at 50% with current device information is different error..
so finally decided to downgrade to the same version from which i applied for unlocking.. so tried Deep flash cable method to put phone in qualcom loader to bypass bootloader... and installed same global stable version.. after successfully installing stable version tried unlocking.. and voila... bootloader unlocked with in 10 Seconds...without any hitch...
So if you want to unlock bootloader... wait for atleast 7 days after you get confirmation message from xiaomi...

Yes, glad someone else noticed it too. Yes I had trouble for a lot of days with developer ROM after getting permission a week back but no luck.
PS: Disabling Driver Signature Verification is paramount in this process.
Hi
I have a redmi note 3 Hennessy device and i attempted to unlock its bootloader using Mi unlock tool. However it is giving me the "Failed at 50% progress" error. I have permission and everything. Now i was wondering, is it mandatory to be on a MIUI developer ROM in order to successfully unlock the bootloader? Can i do it while i am not global stable rom?

You can find both options USB debugging and OEM-Unlock in developer options.
http://xiaomiadvices.com/miui-7-enable-developer-options-and-usb-debugging-on-xiaomi-android-phones/
If you still face the 50% issue after allowing oem unlocking and ADB interface, try uninstalling usb drivers from Device Manager, that helped me everytime.
I have Mi account and managed to unlock mi5s last year.
So now I try to unlock Redmi Note 3 Pro SD, it says my device not supported.
It's it true RN3P no longer can be unlock the official way?
Not really... I just re-unlocked mine yesterday. Try with China Dev rom. I was having issues with global dev and global stable. Unlocking just couldn't move ahead of 50%. But with China dev, the process was completed in less than two minutes on the very first attempt.

I'd add that the Kate version (Special Edition) doesn't have a China dev rom, and there are conflicting reports of unlocking with the newer roms. I couldn't get it to work with the current dev rom (forgot the exact version) and I just yesterday switched back to 6.7.14 and seem to had more luck. I'm still on my 'waiting period' of 72 hours though
The biggest hurdle for me was getting my Mi Account to bind with the newer versions (there's a specific option you need to set under 'developer options'), 6.7.14 doesn't have that & it seems not be a requirement (yet)

Oh okay my bad.... I just assumed you were talking about kenzo.
I guess i cant b really helpful in case of Kate.
I tried official unlock on global stable , Dev roms & was successful make sure to enable developer options hit allow bootloader to be unlocked ( device must be connected to a mi account & locate your device once ) & authorize USB debugging Also disable all screen lock , passwords ; keep device connected to internet switch to fastboot mode & unlock

hello guys...
i was able to get my bootloader unlocked officially....
i tried everything mentioned online but no luck it always gave error to 50 % on the unlock tool and via oem unlocking it mentioned couldn't verify device....
this is what i did...
1st enable dev mode.... make sure you have oem unlocking (only 6.0 and above) enable also usb debugging...
download latest unlock tool ... en.miui.com/unlock
download minimal adb tool .... https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790
make sure you have adb drive (usb driver)
also just be extra caution instal mi pc suite (though i did it without this)
connect your phone
open command prompt as an administrator
move to adb directory.... and type adb devices to check if your device is listed
the type .. adb reboot bootloader
phone will reboot to fastboot screen
type fastboot devices to check device is listed let this window open
open mi unlock tool.....
login it will verify if you have permission if it fails try again eventually it would
click on unlock it would show a warning
now the important part
as soon as you click yes on warning remove the usb cable...... and as soon as it reached 48-50 % (not more than that) reconnect the usb cable
hopefully it would work....
Thanks
UPDATE : Okay so i finally unlocked the bootloader finally. before the last try, i turned off the password/fingerprint lock and then it unlocked. everyone should try the same thing
I done every possible steps but nothing is happening! the bootloader unlock process always getting stuck at 99% and Account Bound error is coming on the PC and on the phone, "86012:*****" error showing on 'settings-additional settings-dev option-Mi Unlock status'.
I tried with 2 different Mi phone/account.
done with i.mi.com stuffs and find device, tried FlyVPN but there is no server of 'Shanghai"... etc!
Nothing is happeneing! I am a beta tester of MIUI 9 China, and see, i couldn't even unlock the bootloader yet! Wow! What a thing! Its been a week and so, still my bootloader is locked.
No help from Xiaomi.
I need a promising way to unlock. so help me.
See, I have unlocked three RN4 devices, none without the wait.
Had to wait 6-7 days for each one of them. There has been no luck for me in doing anything other than wait for 6-7 days after getting the permission.
But then, maybe something might work out for you.
The steps I tried or know of:
1. Being on the developer ROM is a must. Chances of unlocking bootloader from global stable MIUI are very slim.
2. Use old Mi Unlock tool. A quick google will land you there.
3. Don't change the accounts in the phone. You should be logged in with the account you got permission in.
4. Go to developer options and check "USB Debugging", "OEM Unlock" and one more option something sort of "USB Debugging Security".
5. Try to bind the account. It will yield a response with some code and Chinese text. Ignore it.
6. Use the original cable and use the ports on the back of the CPU.
7. Keep "Find my device" turned on. And log in to your account in your desktop and try locating your phone.
8. Now try unlocking.
I followed all the above steps I could find out from anywhere and I was able to do it.
In your case I do think you are either not in the developer build or you need to use the old Mi tool.

@ladlabaloch512
Perhaps your device has the same "OEM unlock" block like mine.
On mine I was supposed to wait 7d after turning on dev options.
I bypassed that by
1. switching to airplane mode
2. Setting manually date back one month
3. Restart (still in airplane mode)
4. Turning off airplane mode and let it sync date
and voila OEM unlock option was there.
Perhaps that works on your device as well.

Keep us updated.. I'd like to get my OEM unlock to come out of hiding.. this is frustrsting.. i see all these tutorials for the A02s root, twrp and ROMs and whatnot and I'm itching to get flashing!
Is it possible to flash an unlocked carrier firmware in ODIN and then be able to unlock OEM? Without carrier issues or anything? I'm a little nervous to be the first to try.. and not sure where to find US unlocked carrier firmware or if location even matters... I have the SM-A025AZ (US Cricket variant).. I guess as long as Download Mode (fastboot) is still accessible I could just flash the Cricket version back to the device.. bricked my LG-E980 back in the day.. took me a few months how to get it back up and running with LG flash tool.. i just dont want to repeat that fiasco lol... so anybody got any updates on hacking this OEM (un)lock bs??? Or any idea on flashing some other variant to the device without interrupting carrier stuff??.. seems like alot just to get a damn virtual switch to turn on.. but damnit I need root access! Lol.. about to just exchange this phone for an actual rootable phone.. i disagree with charging for hotspot.. that should be illegal.. getting charged twice to use th same bs internet.. eff that.. i just want Rooooooot!!!
Hello,
I have also been having these troubles, with no way to unlock oem after stock flash, and the closest I've got to finding a solution was this, but I simply cannot find samsung's bootloader unlocking form like it says in the guide. I bought my phone just for a bootloader unlockable version (A025M), and now I am very angry at samsung.
also, since over a 1000 hours have gone by since last post, have any one of you solved this issue just by waiting?

its not only samsung that does this, many other companies like motorola does this. Dont be angry, just try a different device. Also, snapdragon US models (i dont think) arent able to be unlocked. If its a mediatek model and isnt sim/carrier locked, u can try MTKClient
