Some kind of SOD redmi 3s - Xiaomi Redmi 3 Questions & Answers

Hello today arrived xiaomi 3s that I bought from gearbest.
It have a problem when it sleeps, I cant unlock It, dont care how many times I press the button It dont do nothing. Even if I use fingerprint sensor It makes the sound of recognotion but nothing appears on the screen.
Dispite this, I can ear notifications and sounds but the screen remain black. Even if someone calls me the phone vibrate and make sound but the screen is black and locked.
Any solution?

There are many reported issues, like missed calls, notifications etc. with the redmi 3s shipping with unofficial MIUI ROMs. You should download and flash the official MIUI from the official site. I flashed a friend's redmi 3s yesterday who was having all kind of weird issues, and now all his problems are gone. I hope you solve your issue.

This is the stock rom, isnt It the official one?

Some resellers create their own miui ROMs to add some functionality , for example other languages, but in the process break other functions. Try to remember if you chose for it to ship with a miltilanguage ROM, if there was such an option. The official supported only English and Chinese when it first appeared. I think that you should flash the official stable version , and your issues will disappear, as they seem to be 100% software related.

But if I do it, I think I'm voiding waranty. Can you tell me if this rom is the official one?
MIUI 8.1.1.0 MALMIDI
kernel version
3.18.20-ge45c102

Unfortunately I have no idea about build numbers etc. . I am sure though that if you flash via miflash the official stable version from the official site of xiaomi you won't break your warranty.

To do that I need to do the "unbreak" or something? Or is direct and simple?

You don't need to unlock your boot loader. If you search the forum, there's a thread " stable ROMs for redmi 3". There is a guide for the redmi 3/pro which you can adapt to your phone. Be careful and download the ROM for redmi 3s and not for redmi 3/pro , cause they are completely different devices despite the similarities in the names
The link for the thread is http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-3/development/redmi-3-pro-spacex-rom-t3406919/page49
It has a pretty comprehensive way explaining the prerequisites of flashing your device.

Is thi going to void waranty?

As far as I know, no. I think that if you don't root your device or unlock your bootloader , your warranty will be fine

Flashing locked phone via edl mode?

Hello,
so I've got a locked Redmi Note 3 snapdragon and I want to unlock it the official way (still waiting for the approval).
Anyway, when I want to flash firmware via MiFlash I get the error, that my device is locked, so I can't flash.

Today I've found those 2 tutorials on how to flash via MiFlash:
And this one: http://en.miui.com/thread-242767-1-1.html
I know that those tutorials are for different devices (and bricked ones), but would I be able to flash for example china dev 6.3.31 with this method without bricking my device (I really want root access and the new dev ROM doesn't have it anymore)?
And would I be able to flash global stable (via Update app I can only flash china roms)?
You can flash Chinese global or Chinese Dev rom with Mi PC Suite, I recommend you to first unlock your bootloader with the official way, apply your request as soon as you can so you won't need to wait that much, and after unlocking, install global rom if you want to.
(If you want to make your unlock request faster, post your request on the miui forum in the right section with your MIUI ID and say you registered more than 10 days, this will make things much faster )

I already applied for the code like 6 days ago, but You know, I'm impatient. I can't live without root
Mi PC Suite sadly fails to flash any ROM, that's why I wonder if I could use "fastboot oem edl" with locked bootloader to flash old china dev ROM.

The safest method is that you wait for your apply, install china dev, unlock your bl, and root it with the built-in root in security app, I use this too

I'm having terrible trouble unlocking the bootloader.
It's getting stuck at 50% after reading some posts, I've tried troubleshooting..
Logging in with my phone number, making sure it shows online etc etc I've got the permission text off xiaomi.
The steps I need is unlock bootloader
Install Twrp
Install cm13

I had the same ROM version, it's an unofficial custom MIUI made by the reseller. You might already have the bootloader unlocked.
I fixed this by flashing the global beta for MIUI 8 (which makes me think the bootloader was already unlocked). I didn't try unlocking any further, though, I just wanted to go to a supported ROM. What you have right now is not trustworthy.
This might work.
Theoretically, you flash the China Developer ROM from there, unlock bootloader, flash recovery then CM13

just download mi unlock tool . to unlock bootloader you have to be in china developer rom.remember this is an important step.i hope you know what i mean.
I've managed to unlock bootloader, I'm trying disable adb verity but unable to gain root on this China dev ROM, anyone know why this would happen? Do I have to install the modded boot image I was advised to do during twrp install?

Unlock Special Edition (Kate) with Unlock Permission Granted (not stuck at 50%)

Not many own Kate edition hence the Kenzo tutorial and guide I read did not apply to my Kate due to Global and China roms.
I spent couple of days fastboot-ing > 10+ Kenzo and Kate rom to unlock after I received the unlock permission a week ago.
Needless to say Unlock is not straight forward, en.miui forum have got many stuck at 50% so did i.
Below are the steps I found out to unlock Special Edition (Kate) - without the frequent mentioned need to associate mi Unlock account via Developer options or login with mobile number etc.
Download Kenzo 6.8.18 CHINA Dev Rom
Download Kate 6.8.18 Global Dev Rom
Copy NON-HLOS.bin FROM Kate to Kenzo (this is the modem file Kate and Kenzo only difference in LTE band)
Emergency Fastboot
MiFlash Kenzo 6.8.18 CHINA Dev Rom (with Kate Modem or else will bootloop - at least I did)
Enter phone, I use Mi Account ID (not mobile number) to login mi account on phone via Settings
Also login to mi Unlock software with Mi Account ID (not mobile number)
Unlock Success!! 100%
- Check unlock status - via adb > fastboot oem device-info
Device Unlocked: True

go https://i.mi.com/ and make sure your phone is in sync with mi cloud.
when you 1st boot up phone, YES to everything to let mi cloud have access. just yes agree yes agree blah blah ...
then from i.mi.com, you should be able to see your phone
- send alarm to your phone
- locate your phone.
make sure you have mi unlock permission from http://en.miui.com/unlock/
my guide works for Kate (special edition). can't vouch anything for Kenzo.
did everything like you said but no luck (like everytime)
and i have a kate not a kenzo...
there are hundreds of "solutions" but i think the solutions are only helping a few people

Why don't you try unofficial unlock for kate?
I think the Official way would be better...
I already have TWRP and Root with locked Bootloader, but the newest updates are not working with this way.
Think i switch tonight to a Custom Rom and than it should not matter if the BL is locked or not...
Will the bootloader stay unlocked after official KATE rom is flashed? ie If I use your method to officialy unlock the bootloader and than flash KATE rom
not do it bro.
I tried like this method but result is negative.
and the device can be entered with the ID number, but the unlock tools can be entered by phone or e-mail address from pc

"Mi unlock status" doesn't appear anywhere

Hi,
As most of us, I am having problems unlocking my Redmi 3 Pro Bootloader. I have followed almost every tutorial out there, but some of this tutorials ask you to enable the developer options, and then press on "Mi Unlock Status" (Settings/Additional Settings/Developer Options/Mi Unlock Status). As you can see in the image

}
, the Mi Unlock Status button is not there (it should be just below "Enable OEM Unlock"). It's not anywhere else. What can I do to install a new ROM?
Yes, I have asked and obtained the permission to unlock the bootloader by Xiaomi.
Phone: Redmi 3 Pro
ROM: MIUI Global 7.3 Stable (7.3.1.0.0) This is the rom that the phone came with when I bought it from Tinydeal. I can't change the ROM to a developer version as some tutorials ask you to do because I can't even open the bootloader. If I am wrong and there is a way, please tell me so).
Thank you very much!
Same here on a Redmi 3 with MIUI 7.1.91.99 ROM. Any suggestions?
did you find the solution ??? i am facing same problem , i am not getting any mi unlock status bar in developer options. please give solution
AFAIK it happens because MIUI shipped with the phone has been modified.

try older version 2.xxx (u have 2 version with 2.xxx ,one work) dont go very old!
Did you unlock the developer options?
My MIUI is 8.1.1.
Go to About Phone, Press "MIUI version" several times to unlock developer options
Then go back Additional Settings, you will see Developer options, and Mi Unlock status is inside.
I'm facing the same problem with my new Redmi Note 3 Pro Special Edition. The whole point is that Mi Unlock Status does not appear in Developer Options after they are unlocked.
Figured it out. You do need to install the latest developer build for your device from here for that option to appear. You do not need an unlocked bootloader to do that since it's a MIUI ROM! Just use the Updater app on your phone and instead of downloading an update, tap on the three dots at the top right corner and choose to install from local (and then obviously select the downloaded ZIP). You need at least 30% battery charge to proceed. Obviously, you will lose all your data. Good thing is: if you are planning to flash custom firmware like Lineage OS, installing the latest developer ROM is highly recommended anyway!
Also note: your phone must have been bound to your Mi account for at least 72 hours to unlock, the MI Flash Tool will not let you proceed otherwise.
In my case the solution cam from the Xiaomi forums: the device was sold with some modified ROM, so i had to flash an official (ROM) first. And yes you don't need to unlock bootloader or root for this. The proper description is in on the thread-254606-1-1 on the miui.com forums.
Once you switch 'developer options' ON, then you will be able to see a notification bar for developer options same as when you connect USB. Click on 'Developer Options' ribbon for more options and there you can find the 'Unlock option'. It can be only switched ON with mobile data. I have latest MIUI 10.

Got my new Xiaomi MiPad 4 today...

...anyone else got the Xiaomi MiPad 4 yet? Any recoveries (twrp?) available yet?
hope this helps someone... By default my MiPad 4 came with MiUI 9 stable...
This next link might be fake. After installing, myself and some other users have noticed it's still MIUI 9 "beta" so you might as well skip this "update"...

Will this update without Root?
It's the Xioami update rom, so yes you don't need root.
There is no special recovery (twrp) yet and you have to ask Xiaomi for permission to unlock your bootloader so root is not available yet, that i know of.
I've already asked them a few days ago. Also I installed the room and all it did was move me to a beta rom still on MIUI 9
Yeah I also installed the rom and noticed it still said "MIUI 9" and have asked for the bootloader to be unlocked... hopefully we will have a working twrp version by the time the unlock wait is over with...

But this also means, it could take quite long until an international version of the tablet appears. That's disappointing.
