If I am reading it correctly someone is already working on the VLC port to android, I am wondering if there was any progress made.
Also, am interested in mplayer port, since the stock video player loaded on the device does not preserve the pause status, so if I am watching a movie and pause it, once I go back to the home screen to do something else and back to the movie I am in for a big surprise - I have to fast forwarded from the beginning to the point I left off.
I've heard for a while now that a android version of VLC is on the way but its only been whispers i've heard and i dunno about any progress. The stock video player isnt that bad despite the lack of some codecs. If you hit the menu button you should be able to set a bookmark on the video for the next time you load it up. Just hit menu then select the bookmark and you're back to where you left off. I use it all the time at work when i slack off and watch Mythbusters on my Vibrant.
Thanks for the tip!
I hope the all around polished media player comes to Android pretty soon.
Hmm don't see the bookmark option under menu

How do you play the Divx registration video on the Vibrant? I get an error in Video Player trying to play the .divx file I downloaded from divx.com and can't register the Vibrant now.
Hi,
Is there any video player available for non-samsung devices that do the same functionality as in Note 3 i.e. pausing the video on looking away from screen. I've search but could not find app which has similar functions. There were many apps which pauses video on hand waving or app to keep the screen on if a face is detected. But could not find anything that pauses the video looking away.
Any help??
Hi,
Just wanted to know for Stock Android based ROMs, if there's a way to allow split screen apps to run at the same time. I notice that half screen freezes whenever the other half screen video is played.
For example, you're playing mx player on top screen and playing facebook video on the bottom screen.
What happens is that when you play MX Player video, FB video pauses and vice versa.
Is there a way to allow both screens to play video at the same time? Same goes with cloned games.
MIUI 9's split screen can do that.
TIA!

I'm sorry if i have no answer to your question, but we have tge same problem, is cloned games on splitscreen really work?
Hey,
I bought the 10" model of the Mediapad M5, mostly to let the kids watch videos during car rides or play games.
However, I'm experiencing some problems with video playback in both VLC and Google Play Movies. The video starts in both applications, but when tapping the screen to bring up the media controls, nothing happens. I can't even bring up the navigation bar to go back.
In Play Movies, after starting a movie, the screen dims down efter about 2 sec, as if the screen is about to turn off (but it never does). From Play Movies I can press the physical home button to exit the app.
In VLC, I can't even press the physical home button to exit the app; if I press it, the screen goes black and I need to restart the device.
I tested playing local files with the built in "Video" and MX Player, and both of those applications work as expected.
Edit: Testing some alternative video streaming applications: YouTube works fine, DS video as well (video app for my Synology Nas), Netflix is stuck at "Loading..." no matter which movie I try to play, not sure if this is related or a separate problem...
Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
Thanks
I can confirm the issue with Google Movies. Netflix works for me as expected.
I guess it's a side effect of L3 only widevine level.

Thanks. I returned my device and will fall back on my Nexus 7 until I find something I like, where you can actually play videos.

If hou havent returned the tablet yet., it s fixed with update 8.0.0.123.
Widevine L1 and vlc working as it should.
Google Play Film does not work, but other videos work
I have (partly) the same problem. Netflix works fine, but Google Play Film dims the screen completely for all films. All programs are up to date, but still doesn't work.
I got a new Huawei tablet but the problem remains.

As @esbeone has stated, OTA update fixes the issue. I can confirm that also.
Problem solved
As suggested, I found the udgrave to the OS.
Android version 8.0.0.0.123 solved the problem, now all videos works fine.
Hello, I recently got my first Android TV, and it is a Mi Box S. One of the first things I tried to do was cast videos from my phone. I tried BSPlayer but it didn't work. I also tried VLC for Android (version 3.1.0) and this is the message I get when I try to do it:
The location file:///storage/###### cannot be played.
The file is obviously inside internal /sdcard/ memory.
I've tried different free cast apps, all swamped with ads. They do play the video, but I really like VLC interface and navigation. Is it really that hard for "normal" and "famous" video apps to cast to Android TV? BSPlayer and VLC doesn't work (at least for me), MX Player doesn't even have the option...
Anyone knows how to fix the mentioned problem, or a working app that has the swipe actions on the video so I can use the seek swipe gestures?
Thanks in advance!
