I'm was trying to save space on my phone and I had this pop up which is what lead to my question.
Here's a screenshot...

I'm not sure, but I guess you'd be able to find them by connecting to PC and search for .raw files?
Or try a file manager on your phone and search the same.
If no avail: take a bunch of pictures in RAW, then connect to PC and run WinDirStat. It sorts directories big to small, taking into account subfolders and makes a very graphical overview: easy to spot big files.

Notepad/text editor

Can anybody suggest a freeware notepad or text editor?
Vieka WordPad:
http://www.smartphone.net/software_detail.asp?id=836
Orneta notepad:

Thanks )
Or, Tillanosoft's is even simpler....
http://tillanosoft.com/
However Tillanosoft's cannot open files larger than 300kb.. Which actualy sucks and I don't see any use for it then (and better not talking about their tgetfile). I can open files up to 100kb and more in PocketIE...

Neither Orneta Notepad is perfect. If I choose go to the end of cca 300 kB TXT document, it just dont do anything. It sucks. Have to use Documents To Go for editing these larger files.
Yeah it sucks. I just need to open and not edit the document (Notepad x Lister in Windows XP). But like in Windows, it opens for editing... So I also have to use DTG for opening larger text files...

searching for ODT reader

Hey,
does any of you know of any .ODT reader or editor (OpenOffice files). I want to open it on my qtek and not save it on my desktop to that crappy .DOC and upload it on my phone..
Thanks a bunch
I bet there's no such ODT reader/editor. If you dont like DOC why dont you use RTF? I believe the only way how to read ODT on smartphone is to open the archive and read it with all the elements (or open OO through VNC).

Coz for me, RTF is the biggest mistake ever. First it has just basic formating options. Second, it's like advanced TXT. Try comparing it with DOC and you'll see.
So now i'm doing it two ways - using the DOC, which takes lots of space actually, documents from my company are up to 30MB and I am not using just one or two documents, and the second way how i'm doing it now is that I am really unziping the ODT file and reading the raw XML file.. Not that comfortable...
Well, anyhow, just tried lol

Hmmmm...hard to imagine. The 920 is being marketed as an ultimate business tool. They certainly have it locked up from every angle. MicroShaft did it on purpose. The ability to attach files is the most basic email tool there is. I did find a temporary solution however, I converted a PDF file to a JPEG file, then hooked up the phone to my laptop, COPY and PASTE the converted file into "SAVED PICTURES" and i can now send the converted PDF in an email attachment successfully via the hotmail or gmail app via the "PHOTOS" folder and you can view it just fine on a desktop or laptop, It will work until I figure something else out. Thanks for the input, keep us posted if you come up with anything! IF IT CAN BE CREATED BY MAN IT CAN BE HACKED BY MAN!!!

Not the best solution, but you can send .PDF files through the office app. Just long press on the document you want to send and then share by email or whatever you want. Unfortunately, you can only send one file at a time which is kind of lame.
As for the file manager...I'm dying for one too.:crying:
i really want to be able to browse files!

There's no "trick" to it; it has native support.
You can transfer folders in folders etc from a Windows PC as is.
My whole music database is structured like this and seamlessly transfers back and forth between the 10+ and PC completely intact.

I'm reminded of what Basil Rathbone would say to Nigel Bruce.
All little kids do is play to learn with Androids... works well. Pretty much what I do most of the time. Samsung variants have lots of features and hidden tricks.
Adroids are fun to play with... at any level.
Brother does not talk about the file manager
Otherwise, it is known that this matter is very easy
I guess he's talking about interface applications
I think he wants to create a new folder
And inside this folder he wants to create another folder
This cannot be done in the interface of the applications screen

Question What is the most effective file viewer/converter?

I'm trying to open and see a lot of files from my HP notebook running windows 10. There's files like "data" and "bin" and "dot". Some are "db" files. Hell there's even their type just says "file". What's the best app that can open and view these types of files on Android? Or do I need to get a app for that on the laptop?

Just Curious! Why on earth does anybody need to open system files manually?

Depends on what the contents of those files are. The file extensions don't provide much of an indication. "data" could refer to ANYTHING. "db" is probably a database file, maybe sqlite? Or maybe not. Who is to know?

.bin is a binary file. It and a .db (database) file cannot be read using a text editor. I will guess the same issue will occur trying to view a .data file. Even viewing them on a laptop is problematic as they aren't in a human-readable form. The only exception to the above would be if the files have had their file extensions changed from their originals.
Outside of that exception the only way I can think of to view information inside of these files is with a Windows hex editor like HxD, and even then what you see will be limited. Regardless, I wouldn't bother with Android for this task, even though I'm sure Android has hex editors. The laptop's screen makes such work easier than on Android.

Lol for the sake of plain curiosity. I'm new to a lot of this so I'm not sure what is and isn't possible or in this case practical.

So basically the juice ain't gonna justify the squeeze for this. Alright. Thank you for letting me know this is basically a waste of time. I'm new to all this and was just poking around in the laptop and kept running into **** I couldn't read is all.

Don't poke too hard. If you don't know what you're doing you could alter or delete an important file and wreck your Windows install. If that happens you get to spend a few hours restoring your laptop.

I appreciate the warning but it's a little late for that. Soft bricked my pixel 6 "poking around" with stuff I didn't know. That's how I ended up here in the first place. Nah I learned my lesson after that whole clusterf*ck. Now before I actually mess with it I come ask people far more experienced and knowledgeable than me. Like you for example. Thank you for being patient and answering my noob questions.
