Hi,
Having a strange problem with my Verizon 4G LTE 10.1. When I boot the tablet the satellite GPS works but as soon as I turn on wifi it stops working. If I then turn off wifi it continues *not* to work until I reboot.
I have installed GPS Test app from the market and when it is not working it will occasionally see one or two satellites but will not ever see enough to get a fix.
Anyone else have this problem or know of a fix?
Thanks
Pretty much what the title says. Why is Google and android so persistent with wanting me turn my WiFi on. Even if not connected to a router they say that it helps determine location?
I know for a fact that it helps drain my battery. But I'm not convinced it would help determine my location in any way. In other words. If I have a GPS lock there is absolutely nothing that WiFi can do to help get a better lock in that situation. Also let's say that I don't have a GPS Lock but my WiFi is turned on but isn't connected to a router. Then there is nothing WiFi can do to help in that situation either. Downloading aGPS data requires Internet which is provided through the cell network not WiFi.

Because google have records of lots of wifi networks and where they are. Your phone can scan for networks, google can see if any near you are known to them and if so then they can narrow down where you are.

THL 5000
I have read your post, and unfortunately I have the exact same issue with my phone THL5000. I connect through wifi, after a while, wifi connection seems to drop although the icon bar is ok, then I have to turn wifi off and on again to be able to connect.I have tried downloading app from google play like wifi fixer and wifi connection fixer but to no avail. It is very frustrating and I have contacted the seller, still no reply from him. Android version of my phone is kitkat 4.4.2. Please can anybody help?
thl5000
same problem
have to turn wifi of and on again to get connected
Same WiFi issues
Hi there,
I've been having the same WiFi disconnect issues with the Thl 5000. I've rooted and tried almost all roms on needrom.com but the WiFi still drops out after 5-10 minutes (still shows connected WiFi icon) only fix is turn it on and off.
If any one could try fix this because it seems more than a few people are having the same problems.
Strange, that never happened to me. What ROM are you using?
Sent from my thl 5000 using XDA Free mobile app
I using the Materialized ROM 1.1.1. Which looks and runs great.
needrom.com/download/materialized-rom/
Phone has these wifi settings and will still drop out randomly:
* Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep -Always
* Wi-Fi optimization -On
It could be home wifi (Belkin n300) will have to try another modem - router to test but all other wifi devices run fine with no connection drops (Galaxy S5, Note 8 and laptop etc).
same problem
same problem with THL 5000T
same problem on thl 5000

anyone solved and how?
it seems that THL 5000 has BIG PROBLEM... with WI FI antena or whatever.. it is hardware problem , not software.. never buy THL and company avoid that produce any model of this.. my recommendation, take xiomi, meizu...
same problem, CM12 5.1 rom
Hi! After installing Android 5.0.2 to my Sony Xperia Tablet Z, I am facing a strange issue with Wi-Fi connectivity. When at home my device is continuosly connected to wi-fi. But after several hours, basically I notice it in the morning, there is an "Authentication Problem" with wi-fi, and I need to reconnect it. In wi-fi settings I have set "Keep wi-fi on during sleep" to "Always", it doesn't help though. Any ideas how to fix it? Prevously, on Android 4 wi-fi worked flawlessly without any problems. Thanks.

Try connecting to wi-fi manually, or if you have root wipe cache.
