I can't answer about the unofficial unlock question but regarding to the error "current account is different from device account information" after you get confirmation to officially unlock the device, it might take up to two weeks for your unlock permission data to reach their server. So just wait and you will be able to unlock officially later.

I had unlocked unofficially on LP. Flashed Global Stable 8.0.6.0
In order to move to MM, I downloaded EU Global Dev 7.1.19 and Flashed via ALKA TWRP. All is will except that I cannot set pin/pattern/password/fingerprint lock.

u have misconfiguration in emmcappsboot.mbn. or corrupted *.mbn, either reflash with recovery or or unlock your phone again.I think u have not selected the same firmware which is given in procedure to unlock unofficially but take the same aboot
u should contact some devs who bring miui update zip for unofficially unlocked phones.hit thanks if I helped.

Unlocked unofficial , now permission granted to unlock official - what to do ?

I have Redmi Note 3 SD. I applied for official unlock while phone was on MIUI stable 8.0.6.0 (Lollipop) , but I did not wait for permission and I unlocked unofficial and I upgraded to MIUI stable 8.1.1.0 (Marshmallow). Safe TWRP is installed and phone is rooted .
What to do now ? Should I continue with official unlock ? Could it be done if phone is already unlocked (unofficial) ?
Does it change anything significant ? I think I would prefer to be officially unlocked , so the bootloader doesn't ever lock again , but I am not sure if I can or if I should proceed from actual state .
Thanks
PS - Just checked Mi Unlock status in settings and it says - This device is locked !!! . But in Fastboot says bootloader unlock : true !!!
I'm in the same position, and I've sometimes considered unlocking officially. But, for the most part, I am happy with my unofficial unlock and worried that the official process will not work immediately, so I haven't bothered to officially unlock yet.
This would be the proper procedure for doing so, I believe.
1. Take a full backup in TWRP and be sure to copy it to a PC or somewhere separate from the phone. Also copy any important files from internal storage to a PC or some external storage.
2. Flash the latest China development rom using Miflash. (This would relock your phone).
3. Boot and log in with your Mi Account. Check in with "find my phone" to make sure Xiaomi knows you are logged in on your phone with your account.
4. Unlock via the official method using the Mi Unlock Tool... and pray that it doesn't get stuck at 50%. (If it does. Do "find my phone again" and try again later... and again later... etc. Sometimes it reportedly takes days. This is why I haven't bothered to do this yet.)
5. After officially unlocking, you could theoretically restore your TWRP backup (probably avoid restoring any weird partitions other than system and data in case it screws up your bootloader).

I followed this guide - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtoeZg6K-z4&feature=youtu.be
Update - I tried unlocking official without flashing dev rom and relocking the phone - of course it didn't work because MiFlash could see the bootloader already unlocked . I will not bother anymore to unlock official if actual state of phone is safe for further custom roms .
Just to make sure - can someone advise if I can flash xiaomi.eu roms from Safe TWRP without worries ? Do I need to flash Universal boot img patcher too after I flash rom ?

I went through same path. Now on LAOS 14.1 . You can flash .. but do take backup of all partitions. Also do try to find what your FP sensor is. You may end up in issue like this https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3543397
Scroll though my other posts for more info.
The problem with Settings crashing , I solved by flashing Radon kernel - also FP is working with this kernel .
It looks like this Redmi Note 3 is much more prone to brick than Redmi 3 I used before. I went through quite a few bricks and failed flashes while unlocking and upgrading to Marshmallow .
With Redmi 3 , which I bought unlocked from Greece , I never had a single problem flashing custom roms - never used fastboot, edl , myflash , just TWRP .
So - no need to flash universal boot img patcher or anything else after flashing custom rom ?

Most guides say that you need the latest dev rom in order to unlock.
If you want to try with merely re-locked bootloader on your current rom, I believe maybe you can re-lock in fastboot?
"fastboot oem lock"
?

Hi , I just flashed fast boot Dev rom from this Nitrogen OS + Cm14 Firmware setup , as I got official permissions.
Now device is unlocked. [ Flash Dev Rom only ]
I would like to know which Twrp to use , now I need to get back to Miui official global stable with custom recovery [ need OTA , Incremental updates ] & also if I flash radon kernel will I receive Incremental updates?
ZCX Twrp is recommended?

How to flash Chinese Developer ROM over Global rom to unlock Bootloader?

I had applied for permission to unlock bootloader officially and i got permission two days back.
When i try to unlock via MiUnlock app, it stuck at 50% and said Couldn't verify the device.
I searched on google and i found something like i should be on Developer Rom to unlock. So i flashed the Gobal Developer Rom through System Updater. Again i tried to unlock the phone, same error. Then i found , i should be on Chinese Developer rom. So again i tired to flash Chinese developer rom but this time it failed when i try to flash through System updater.
Can anyone tell me how to do?
Thanks in advance.
No matter how u try, it all depends on luck. With chinese developer rom I was able to unlock mine but not my friends RN3. The real truth is that xiaomi doesn't want to you to unlock otherwise why to complex a one command process. Its better to flash zxc twrp with miui rom flash method without unlocking or unlock it unofficialy.
Now to your answer if you want it. You can flash chinese developer rom via edl method through mi flash
Just flash via EDL and choose flash_all in MiFlash.
I had 50% problem with unlocking many times and it was always something to do with drivers or bad connection...
i think need sign in account has unlock permision to you phone and wait 1,2 days

Help with Redmi Note 3 (BL/TWRP/ROM)

Hey everyone! In the past, I have tried to unlock my Redmi Note 3's Bootloader via the official method (yes I have permission), and also fastboot oem unlock command. Nothing seems to work, and I am going to follow some tutorials to get ZCX TWRP on my phone. Provided it works, I need to know some things:
1. Will those tutorials (they all do same thing; flash ZCX TWRP via Mi Flash EDL) unlock bootloader?
2. If not, will I be able to flash custom ROMs like AEX 5.7 via recovery?
3. Can ZCX TWRP be replaced by official TWRP?
Help with getting rid of MIUI (and my locked bootloader) would be appreciated.
Cheers!
Same thing happened to me... I accidentally locked my bootloader while flashing with MI flash. And now mi unlock tool saying "this account couldn't be used to unlock bl" (I too have unlocking permissions ??)
Now I'm stuck with stock miui rom??

I have this same error! Anyway, I'm now on official TWRP 3.2.2-0... Need to know whether it's safe to allow modification of System, and whether I can flash stuff.
Yes you can, almost 90℅ of redmi note 3 users have unlocked unofficially , just dont flash miui rom with twrp

How u know 90% are unofficial unlocked ?
Update: It works
I decided to try for myself, and successfully flashed AEX 5.7. Gapps is giving me some problems but that's probably because I installed the stock zip. Micro will probably be more stable while retaining face unlock feature. Thanks to everyone who helped, and the awesome community.
Because of error current account cannot unlock this device

Chinese Vendor unlocked bootloader: can I flash new rom to Xiaomi Mi 10?

I bought a Mi 10 CN phone version, but it came with bootloader unlocked and global ROM installled. (Vendor used their Mi account to unlock it it seems)
As the bootloader is unlocked Google pay wouldn't work. From what I can read on the Xiaomi.eu version ROM, it seems with that ROM one could use Google pay.
My question is can I use adb and fastboot to install Twrp on the phone and then install xiaomi.eu ROM on the phone without having to enter the Mi account when the new ROM boots up? I had seen that after unlocking the bootloader and installing a custom ROM one had to enter their Mi account that was connected to the unlocking process.

You should not have to sign in to Mi account unless you already signed in before. The vendor who unlock your phone already sign out. I also bought a mi 10 china rom which was installed with global rom and unlocked bootloader. The first time I turn on the phone I had option not to sign in to Mi account.
Awesome, so if I flash xiaomi.eu ROM on to the phone I will be able to boot the ROM without having to put in the passcode for the account that ulocked the bootloader?!
Thank you for the help! @tknguyencsu

That what happened to my phone. I bought it from Giztop with unlocked bootloader and global rom installed. I am now on xiaomi.eu ROM. Your vendor should sign out of the xiaomi account.
I appreciate the clarification. That's exactly what I am trying to do and is the same place I bought it from.
Thank you so much
