So I just bought an HOX+ a couple of hours ago, and I used the HTC all-in-one kit to unlock it. I then flashed CMW through the same program flawlessly.
The problem occurred when I flashed boot.img from the Android Revolution HD ROM, which your supposed to do before you flash the ROM he says. Well, after I did that, I rebooted the phone to transfer the custom ROM to the phones storage to install through CWM, but it now boot loops at the htc boot screen. This makes sense because the boot.img is not the original one for the stock ROM. However, there is no way of installing the custom ROM onto the device. Seems as though I missed to put the ROM on the phone's memory before flashing that boot.img....stupid of me
I can not install the custom ROM because:
- There is no mount USB storage in CWM, which on my previous phone there was....
- adb push command does not work because it can't find the device. Only fastboot finds the device, and there are no commands I see that install a zip.
- sideload also does not work as it says its 'out of date' and then cannot find the device
- I can't boot into the OS to copy the file because of the boot.img and boot looping.
- I tried flashing this stock boot.img file found Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29173294; all that did was shut down the device instead of looping after the HTC quietly brilliant bootup screen.
- All the stock RUU's are .exe that you install when your in the phone's OS, which doesn't work for me...right? Or can they work in the bootloader/recovery...
I find it weird that I didn't see anything about rooting the device at all after unlocking, but whatever....
So now I am stuck because I cannot install the custom ROM, but I also don't have the original boot.img of the stock ROM.
I am using an ATT htc one X+ quad core. I can still boot into CWM.
How do I fix this?
First thing, you just flashed an INTERNATIONAL ROM on your AT&T/TELUS phone, this the bootloop reason. (If your profile is up to date)
Second thing, you should have taken TWRP Recovery over CWM because all aptions are tested and approved working with TWRP Recovery + HOX+
Third thing you didn't mention that your SDK/ADB/HTC's Drivers combo tools are installed.
Fourth and nonetheless you didn't read enough before proceeding with all the unlocking+rooting process.
Now, can you access your bootloader and is your phone recognized when plugged?
Thanks so much for the reply. I'll answer in order to make it more concise:

I did not actually flash any custom ROM yet to the phone. After unlocking and flashing CWM to it using the all-in-one kit, all I did next was flash a boot.img file that your supposed to flash before installing the custom ROM (Android Revolution HD). I even forgot to put the custom ROM on my phone before flashing the boot.img, let alone install it.

I will try to flash the TWRP recovery to it then.
edit:I used fastboot flash recovery to flash TWRP to it. I will wait for a response to continue from there.

I originally had an motorola ATrix 4g, so I assume I have them all, but I did download all of it before I started. I downloaded the HTC drivers and the android SDK before I started, and I had an ADB package before. Maybe its the adb package that's giving me difficulties?
Now, can you access your bootloader and is your phone recognized when plugged?

I can access the bootloader, fastboot, and CWM recovery fine. However, the device is only recognized under fastboot, and not under adb in both fastboot and CWM. There is no 'mount usb storage' like I had on my Atrix, and adb commands like 'sideload' and 'push' do not work as the device is not found ever under adb. Again, it seems as though usb debugging is off because I factory reset it through the bootloader, but I can not get into the OS to change that.
All right, if your phone is still with the original ROM installed (you didn't say you had full wiped the phone) the only thing you have to do is to flash the original boot.img for HTC ONE X+ not the HTC ONE X like you did.
Please do take the right TWRP Recovery for the HTC ONE X + (EVITARE_UL) HERE for your AT&T / TELUS phone.
Rename this file like this TWRPrecovery.img (it's only easier to flash)
Put it in your platform-tools folder of SDK
Reboot in bootloader and put your phone in fastboot USB by plugging your USB cable
If your phone can be recognized with : fastboot devices (serial number validation) proceed with this : fastboot flash recovery TWRPrecovery.img (Enter)
If the result is Success, type : fasboot erase cache (Enter)
Done.
Unplug the USB cable hit Power button one time
Select Recovery (Volume down)
Power button one time
Rebooting in Recovery
You can try to sideload an AT&T/TELUS ROM
Try this, I will found you an original boot.img for your ROM version.

That is fine. Do consider that sideloading can take some time, patience is the key. I will gave you the original AT&T boot.img in a few.
Here it is, this an original boot.img for AT&T (EVITARE_UL)
Put it in your platform-tools folder of SDK
Reboot in bootloader and put your phone in fastboot USB by plugging your USB cable

If the result is Success, type : fasboot erase cache (Enter)
Done.
Unplug the USB cable hit Power button one time
Select Reboot (Volume down)

Rebooting
If this is good, your phone will reboot and be fully functional.

You are a GOD. Thank you so much, that worked. I can now boot into the stock ROM.
Alright, if you have the time, one very last question.
I want to make sure I am correct with this process. I want to install the Elegancia AT&T version. Here is what I would do.
1) Transfer the ROM.zip to root of phone memory
2) extract and install the boot.zip to the phone first through fastboot flash boot 'file'
3) Then without rebooting install the ROM.zip through TWRP
I assume the ROM comes with SU which roots the device.
That is a good news!
Yep! To flash your intend ROM simply transfer the file to your storage.
Reboot in fastboot, flash the Elegancia boot image like you did for the sock one (simply rename the modded boot image i.e. EleganciaBoot or Eboot.img) Simply download the Kernel flasher then Copy/Paste the boot.img inside the folder.
If your phone can be recognized with : fastboot devices (serial number validation) proceed with this : fastboot flash boot EleganciaBoot.img (Enter)
Again if the result is Success, type : fasboot erase cache (Enter)
Done.
Unplug the USB cable hit Power button one time
Select Recovery (Volume down)
Power button one time
Rebooting in Recovery
Do a FULL BACKUP of your actual ROM and keep it in a safe place on your computer once rebooted
Full wipe Factory reset, system, cache & Dalvik
Flash your new ROM
Reboot Enjoy!
All ROM you will flash are already rooted, so no extra step for this.
Recently bricked my honor 5x used fast boot to get it out of boot loop. (Because I tried to its update my phone with twrp)now when I try to re flash twrp it gets replaced by the stock recovery Everytime . Please help!
Samething happend to me... cannot flash twrp because when i restart phone after flashing twrp, it gets replaced by stock recovery.
What i do now is to boot to twrp instead of flashing using this command:
Code:
fastboot boot twrp-3.0.0-0-kiwi.img
Hopefully there is a solution for this flashing problem.

you can't just reboot after flashing recovery ...you have to boot directly to twrp after the flash with power + volume up (Skip the fastboot reboot step)
the simple way is to copy kiwi_twrp_3-21_recovery.img to your sdcard
fastboot boot kiwi_twrp_3-21_recovery.img
now in twrp choose install / image / then choose kiwi_twrp_3-21_recovery.img
next choose reboot / recovery
you now have kiwi_twrp_3-21_recovery.img
from then on adb reboot recovery from android
or power + volume up will enter TWRP

I tried to flash then go straight to twrp which gets replaced by stock bootloader
Idk it gets replaced everytime
Okay the adb thing stopped I got into twrp by doing the fastboot thing but when i boot into recovery it goes to the stock recovery.

I really don't know why you don't seem to get it
it's this simple
you fastboot boot kiwi_twrp_3-21_recovery.img
now while in TWRP copy kiwi_twrp_3-21_recovery.img to the phone
Also copy SuperSU-v2.64.zip (or newer) to the phone
after the files are copied choose Install / Image / kiwi_twrp_3-21_recovery.img
next choose install / SuperSU.zip
next choose Reboot / Recovery
you now have TWRP recovery and you can enter it by using power + volume up
or from an app on the phone (I use Quickboot) or from a pc with adb reboot recovery
I have the same problem, i tried with your method but the system continue to replace bootloader, impossible to keep twrp on recovery
Edit : I try to install Root Checker, it detect my phone is root but impossible to access to TWRP, very strange

Tried this on my KIW-L21, as this is the only way I did not try it yet...
Did not work, unfortunately, I assume the OP could have the same problem as I already posted in the TWRP thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66678377&postcount=509
(It is a shame people spam this thread with unlocking problems, though)
EarlyMon mentioned something about dual recovery partitions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66838009&postcount=529
So regardless how many times I flash TWRP it wont stick until the next reboot to recovery, as it gets replaced by the stock one all the time.
I am thankful for every news on that topic and I would happily help(to the extent I am able to) getting TWRP back onto our phones :good:
P.S.: I am not quite sure if the OP has another problem in flashing the recovery, though.

So you are booting TWRP
Installing / TWRP.Img in TWRP and Reboot recovery and your not booting to TWRP ?
Just my two cents into this thread: apparently (from my personal experience, and EarlyMon seems to back this up) the Honor 5X for whatever reason allows the installation of TWRP but still keeps Huawei's stock recovery in place, unlike most phones. What's more, it randomly (yeah, guessing it's not random obviously, but I don't have the slightest clue what the pattern might be) decides to boot into stock recovery while I use the same hardware keys that have continuously booted me into TWRP up until that point. This behavior led me to believe I had bricked my phone for a day, lol (I made a recent post about it on this forum, in case anyone cares).
Bottom line: if you can't boot into TWRP even though you made sure to install it correctly, try changing the key combo. Vol down + Power not working for you? Try Vol Up. Neither work? Try Vol Up + Down + Power. Spice it out and it might solve your problems.

The last approach was done with the one from the first post of the TWRP thread here on XDA(https://goo.gl/53xai9) "kiwi_twrp_3-21_recovery.img"
I also tried the TWRP images from https://twrp.me/devices/huaweihonor5x.html but always the same result.
I can try with a specific image, just give me a link and I'll try to flash it. :fingers-crossed:
Hey,
whatever custom rom I try, I end up with bootloop - phone is restarting after It finishes optimizing apps. I've tried Collapseromer - CM13-6.6.28, ResurrectionRemix - v5.6.8 and some cm-13.0-RC2.0 from here. I'm flashing stuff from MIUI 8 Developer ROM.
Phone is Redmi 3 - ido (not pro version).
I've unlocked phones bootloader with app from Mi, found here. Checked if phone is unlocked with:
Code:
fastboot oem device-info
After that I followed instructions for installing TWRP here.
Code:
adb root
adb disable-verity
adb reboot bootloader
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-0-ido.img
fastboot boot twrp-3.0.2-0-ido.img
In TWRP slected Advanced wipe -> wiped all partitions.
Next I've used adb sideload to flash the device. In case of RR rom used:
Code:
adb sideload ResurrectionRemix-M-v5.6.8-ido.zip
Restarted and after app optimization rom restarts.
Any suggestions are welcome and will be appreciated.
Here's how I have done 3 different Redmi 3 non-pro versions of the phone.
Unlocked the bootloader using a developer rom.
Copied the rom from here, to the internal storage.
Downloaded ARM64/5.1/Pico or Mini from here & copied to the same folder on the internal storage.
Downloaded TWRP 3.0.2.0 from here.
Power down the phone. Hold volume Down + Power and you will be in fastboot.
rename your twrp file to recovery.img & then use the following commands.
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot boot recovery.img.
In TWRP swipe to modify the system partition. Select wipe & swipe to complete. Don't reboot.
Go back to the main menu and install ZIP files. Add the Rom in the 1st link & then add more zips, then add the gapps.
Once complete wipe dalvik/cache & again don't reboot but go back and wipe again.
Reboot and away you go. Not had an issue on any of the phones using that method.
Would also high recommend the ROM i've posted, been using it as a daily driver and it's been virtually flawless.
Additional wipes and your rom worked like a charm. Thanks.

First of all consider looking at the date of post.. it's from 2016 - obviously nobody's gonna provide you with any support in this one.
Second of all get yourself a newer rom - something reliable such as LineageOS for IDO and just adb sideload it from recovery or push it to internal storage and install with GUI.
Hello, I'm kind of new at this (this is my first post) so be gentle
So, the last few days I've been trying to install a new rom on my phone (Redmi Note 4X) and the problems started with the model. I only seem to find Redmi Note 4 roms, and as I've come to find, mine is supposed to be the mido one (correct me if I'm wrong though). I have unlocked the bootloader, I have installed and enabled the fastboot on my phone, so the next step was to install the latest TWRP.
There came more problems; I tried doing this through the app and it just wouln't flash it. So I found a guide on how to root my phone and install a new recovery through adb and I followed it. It didn't work. I couldn't find the right twrp version for my phone. When I finally did realise my phone needed mido, I found the latest from the TWRP website. It wouldn't load through adb again. I found a thread about a fixed mido version, which finally worked for me. But my brother who was helping me, and isn't as much of a noob as I am (he has flashed rom and recoveries many times on his Nexus 5X), decided that I necessarily need the latest twrp if I'm going to flash a new rom, so he flashed the new twrp through the old one, and soft bricked my phone (I think). So I'm searching for a guide to unbrick it. (Which I can't seem to find to work at least).
To conclude;
I have unlocked my bootloader
I have access to the fastboot
I tried to flash a recovery
I failed many times, but I managed it
I flashed the latest twrp and bricked my phone
I don't have access to the recovery
My phone is still on a bootloop
I am not sure about which phone model I have
Help!
Thanks in advance.
1. Just check your phone model on its box. If its Snapdragon version (Mido), then just install it via fastboot. (code: fastboot flash recovery twrp-midoxx.img). If you are success, then try to reboot to recovery (fastboot boot twrpmido-xx.img). After booted, then you just manage to rom.zip you want to install. If you don't have it, then download it before from your PC and push it to your phone. Or just enable Mtp checklis from TWRP n copy that file to your internal phone/sdcard. Wipe all/factory reset except internal storage. Then you dan install rom.zip normally. N reboot. (Note: if you are on MIUI and wanted to always stay on it, just flash the file called lazyflasher.zip. n' wipe cache n art cache only then reboot). Flashing custom recovery on stock MIUI Will manage the device Going to bootloop)
2. If you have mediatek version (nikel), searching the fastboot Rom from miui website and flash it normally via fastboot. (SP Flash tool)
Warning: flash the wrong rom file into wrong phone Will make your device brick. So becarefull n knowing what model/code name you have.

Firstly, enter fastboot mode on your device. Connecting to pc and flashing the twrp for mido. "fastboot flash recovery twrp-mido.img". Then boot to it using " fastboot boot twrp-mido.img". Then you will enter the recovery (twrp) in a second. Copy the lazyflasher into your phone (enable mtp first in Mount option in twrp) that you downloaded from pc. Just flash the lazyflasher.zip and reboot.
And why you don't want to flash lazyflasher when it very easy to flash it using recovery twrp? adb? You mean android debugging? Actually, you cant flash a .zip file into your system partition except through fastboot mode. However, fastboot mode (in cmd) only recognize a .img file. I just try to tell you the easier method to make your device boot up.

Hello
I 'm using Lenovo Tab 2 a7-10f
I tried to flash TWRP recovery throught fastboot.
But i didnt succeed before, so this time, i tried to enter command to open TWRP without need to install it.
___________
I entered fastboot mode via command
adb reboot bootloader
and yes, i did unlocked bootloader
___
then i used this command to put recovery in my tablet just to open that recovery
fastboot -c "lge.kcal=0|0|0|x" boot c:\twrp.img
______
i found this solution on this site
https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/86936/how-to-flash-root-zip-in-fastboot/102597
_______
And now, it is in bootloop, until i click both volume up and down , then it enters TWRP
_______
Tried to go in TWRP , Reboot > Power Off
And it shows logo and dont proccedd more, just stuck there and spining
Until i press both volume up and down, so it opens me TWRP recovery
________
Also tried to go into Reboot > System
But still same issue, not booting up at all
___
If i click Reboot > Recovery
Then it boots me back in TWRP
______
I tried already SPFlash tool before, but it doesnt detect my tablet, even if i have all drivers, and google drivers, and USB debbuging, i'm using this tablet for android app development, so it have all drivers.
_______
I managed to get my data from tablet.
I dont know what to do next.
Should i make some command from computer to boot system, using ADB, i know to use ADB, just i stucked in this weird bootloop.
_____
I'm thinking that i should flash stock ROM from TWRP while it is still alive.
Should i do that, i dont want to lose my data, i have many programs.
I dont care if i lose TWRP recovery, i dont need it after this experience right now???
What should i do
If you flash stock can you resume control and appreciate with repatching of recovery

O, oh man, i just got shocked !!! By all this.
I understood that my problem is in boot,
because this command
fastboot -c "lge.kcal=0|0|0|x" boot c:\twrp.img
tells android that when i press power button, to boot into whatewer it is pointed to.
So this command tells android to boot recovery instead of normal system.
So i just reverted it in bootloader (fastboot) mode, by pushing command
fastboot flash boot c:\boot.img
So it booted up again ) , and also important, without losing any precious data. ))
______
It is true when people say that if everything fails in android, there is always a bootloader that you cant destroy.
And also here are commands for other partitions, in this way you can flash whole system without root or anything, for anybody who face this problem which is very hard to break without ADB, because i think even if i flash stock ROM it will boot recovery because somewhere deep inside, it is written from that bootloader,
Again, never joke with bootloader, if it dont support, it dont support and over, i dont want TWRP anymore.
Dont get in this trouble, mybe nobody will be able to fix it if he dont know how it happened.
______
Commands
_______
adb reboot bootloader (to go into bootloader)
fastboot flash boot boot.img (this is i used)
fastboot flash system system.img (this is ROM, like kitkat, or lolipop)
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img (this can be optional, it means full reset)
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img ( if on twrp , dont flash this thing if not cause problems)

So it booted up again ) , and also important, without losing any precious data. ))
