My Z3TC is still on 4.4.4, and I am thinking about to upgrade it to 5.1.1.
I have gather some useful file and want to ask for some question.
What I have now:
1. z3tc SGP641 23.0.1.A.4.44 stock LB, rooted and have XZDR installed
2. SGP641 23.4.A.1.200 ftf
3. latest SuperSU zip
4. latest XZDR flashable zip
5. prfcreator
6. SonyRICDefeat for z3tc
Question:
1. Does that 5.1.1 firmware have dm-verity enabled ?
2. I am going to make a prerooted firmware using my files above, will that one have dm-verity also ?
3. If yes, is it the only way to disable dm-verity by repacking the kernel ?
4. How about 5.0.2 firmware and dm-verity ?
I am a bit confused since my z5c have dm-verity enabled (once soft-bricked) and I cannot gather any information is dm-verity enabled on z3tc @ 5.1.1 ...

There is a way
Use PRF creator to create a pre-rooted zip of your chosen update
Make sure to install recovery for LB and also to add it to your PRF zip
Flash it and enjoy your new update.
Something gone wrong.
I downloaded Sony PC Companion to get the update files.
Then I created FTF following this tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/development/noobs-guide-create-stock-firmware-ftf-t2188129
I choosed to include all: Kernel, FOTAKernel, Modem and LTALabel
At Step 3 I selected
Device: Sony Xperia Z2 D6503
Version: 23.4.A.0.546
Branding: Unbranded
Then I created a PRF
http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/tool-prfcreator-easily-create-pre-t2859904
I used:
New created FTF
philz_touch_6.41.6-sirius-v01-FW_402-DooMLoRD.zip
UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip
Then I put flashable-prerooted.zip to external SD, rebooted to philz Touch and installed ZIP from SD. Recovery finished without error, so I rebooted my device.
But after reboot it still show Android 5.02 under Settings -> About device, root seems to work, but busybox doesn't work anymore and worst of all, I don't have recovery anymore.
Any idea, what happend?

Damn. I didn't look at this while converting to ftf, thought pc companion will always load the latest regardless of provider when choosing the repair option.
Ok that was my fault. But why did this break my busybox and recovery?
I got it fixed with Z2-lockeddualrecovery2.8.15-RELEASE.installer, which also flashed busybox.
Z2 with Bell Canada, locked bootloader.
Seems one of the forced ota updates has un-rooted my phone...
What is the best way to root it again?
Android 5.1.1
Build # 23.4.A.0.546
Cheers.
Same way you did it the first time I guess
Hi there,
With a locked boot-loader , you will have to flash an older root-able firmware ( think .134 ) in Flash tool . Root the phone, sure Towel root works, then flash a prerooted flash-able zip.
Or create a prerooted with PRFCreator.
downgrade to lollipop 5.0.2 (by flashing a new ftf via flashtool)and root via king root and install recovery via xzrecovery app (after getting root access) and then follow these steps:
1.Download a pre-rooted firmware 5.1.1 (flashable zip)
2.Boot into Recovery (TWRP Recommend)
3.Install - Choose ROM direction - flash the ROM zip and wipe cache\dalvik cache
(don't worry this won't wipe your data)
# I highly recommend you to do a factory reset after flashing because if you didn't the phone will be laggy and battery will drain extremely fast
*And If you have xposed installed don't forget to remove it because it may causes problems
If I Helped, Leave A Thanks ?

Had to roll back to D6503_17.1.A.2.55 to get it to root, now I'm just looking for pre-rooted firmware, any that you recommend?
Just download the latest bell ftf file (it will be what your ota version would be), and create a pre-rooted flashable zip using prf creator. Tutorials are here on XDA. They're very easy to follow.
I ended up creating a ROOTED update package from stock FTF
Seems to be all good now
Hey everyone,
I have this Z2, with 5.1.1, D6503 and 23.4.A.0.546 never rooted before. And I have a mac os (no windows).
How can i root my phone?
I saw a lot o people explaining this, but will already rooted versions or windows computer to run some .exe files, but i didn't found a way without a windows computer and with a Z2 that has never been rooted before.
Can anyone help me?
Thank you very much in advance
1 - download flashtool,
2 - download and flash 4.4 ftf,
3 - install towelroot on you phone,
4 - root with towelroot,
5 - install recovery with an app like flashify,
6 - flash rooted 5.1.1 in recovery

Hi experts ,
My xperia z2 was on 5.0.2 and rooted with Kingroot , I upgraded to 5.1.1 but root method is too complex for me , i want to downgrade back to 5.0.2 where kingroot is still possible ,.
I have saved my original stock 5.0.2 by compiling the Files from blob_fs folder from PC companion , Shall i flash this ftf file using flashtool directly or do i need to something else ?
Just flash 5.0.2 ftf. And don't forget to wipe user data when downgrading.

Hi. I'm a beginner to Android development (especially Sony devices) and I have a few questions before I do something catastrophic. I have Sony Xperia Z2 D6502 with Android MM (.575), unlocked bootloader and TWRP recovery. Also, I don't have root. At least not properly.
1.Will I be able to install custom ROMS without root?
2.Flashing SuperSu zip from TWRP does not root it properly. Is there any way around??
3.Will Xposed work without root? I flashed it successfully.
4.When building a custom ROM, how do you change that easter egg when you tap the Android version a few times and you get a game??
Thanks
1. Not without root, since your bootloader is unlocked you can easily root it.
2. Yes it does ( I do flash supersu.zip after I install recovery)
3. Xposed requires root as far as I know
