guys i have uploaded a new kernel based off latest stock rom....use that as a wifi lag is seen while using max's kernel on Roms like Doomsday....
Is the modded kernel has some features, or just modded to enable to mount the internal storage?
@Varun hellboy. Base on experience, Can u help me build a twrp recovery for j7109 (china version). I cant find out any twrp really working for it. May be it'snt international version. I can provide things as u need. Thank in advanced!

Pretty colors and nice interface. Thanks for this. If you use Flash GUI it will ask you to rename it first. I changed it to "recovery.img" and it flashed no problem.

About the same as far as backups. I put .hideandroidprogress in clockworkmod folder and my 2.2 gb backup took about 4 mins. Appears to be packed with features I don't know how to use yet but will be quite handy to have.
Can you restore twrp backups or do you need to create new ones?

nice looking UI, but I can't seem to do adb push blah.zip /sdcard/
not sure why though, because i tried it earlier before i wipe my phone and it worked to seem a small file, but does not work with a larger file size?
I tried it in the twrp beta and it works perfectly fine
this is by far my favorite recovery in all the years ive been a flashaholic.

CM Updater
For those of you that get hasty and install things without reading the FAQ.
Phil3759 said:
CMUpdater cannot flash downloaded files
If you get a /sdcard/0 error, it means you have /sdcard set as /data/media/0 in recovery
The reason is that CM app doesn't support /data/media/0 and is faking recovery with a /sdcard/0 implementation
You still can alter the setting and force it to /data/media in Advanced menu. This will give full compatibility with cwm, CM roms and CM Updater

The phone list in adb devices when booted to the rom but in recovery I don't get any connection to it via adb.
MTP works well I used adb to move my backups when booted to the rom but in recovery I could not use adb or adb shell to tinker.
Gonna try the SDK manager to see if I'm out of date or something.

THIS RECOVERY WILL TRIP YOUR KNOX COUNTER ..AND UR WARRANTY WILL BE VOID
THIS RECOVERY IS ONLY FOR THE GALAXY ALPHA [G850F] [EXYNOS]
PLEASE BE CAREFUL ... THIS RECOVERY HASNT BEEN TESTED "FULLY"...ONLY WIPE CACHE AND DALVIK CACHE , INSTALL ZIP IS TESTED
PLEASE BACKUP YOUR DATA AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BACKUP OF THE FIRMWARE BEFORE PROCEEDING..HAPPY FLASHING!
Why twrp ? Why not a pre-rooted firmware which will not void warranty?
Ans : TWRP has many more functionality than stock recovery ! Rooting means to playing around with your device.If some thing goes wrong it you have to flash the whole firmware again instead,backup your ROM through CWM and if something goes wrong restore your backup AS SIMPLE AS THAT !
All you have to do is follow my instructions :
STEP 1 :
-Download and setup ADB drivers for your device
can be found here Drivers !
STEP 2 :
-Download the recovery from --->
TWRP(more stable)
CWM
-Download odin 3 Link
-Turn of your device and go to odin mode [ Vol down + power + home button (all at the same time) ] release it when you see Galaxy Alpha logo
-Press vol up to confirm
STEP 3 :
-Now that you are in odin mode connect your device via usb cable !
-Now open Odin3 3.09 that you have downloaded.
-If there is a pop-up like Installing ADB drivers let it get finished it is usually updates !!!!
-Make sure the COM : xx (xx is usb port number it can be any number so dont worry about it,just verify COM is lit up)
-Select the recovery (Link in STEP 2) ! Now select AP and browse to where you have .tar file and select it
MAKE SURE U UNTICK THE AUTO-REBOOT BUTTON
-Click Start
ONCE IT SAYS PASS ...REMOVE THE BATTERY ...THEN RE-INSERT THE BATTERY AND BOOT INTO RECOVERY USING VOL UP + HOME + POWER BUTTON
HOW TO ROOT THE DEVICE :
-Download SuperSu (obviously the latest one) from here ------> Click here !
-Copy that to internal sd card
-Power off your device and press vol up + power + home button (all at once)
-Select install zip from sdcard --->choose zip from sdcard ---> scroll down and flash UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.xx.zip
Done ! And you are ready to go

i just tried. the drive is listed as sd card. it has 0MB available even though my usb drive is an empty 32 gb drive formatted with fat32. when i select it for the backup, the selection goes dimm for couple of seconds and comes back back without it being selected and no error message.
by the way, is it possible to do a screenshot with TWRP?

Looking at the ROM it should be /storage/UsbDriveA maybe we need to create that folder first ...
Maybe you can test this. Boot into recovery, connect to it with 'adb shell' or use twrp terminal and create the directory "/storage/UsbDriveA". Then attach the usb drive.

didn't work. couldn't connect with adb shell when on recovery (maybe not correct drivers insatlled). when creating /storage/UsbDriveA, attached usb drive and it's empty and doesn't list the drive in the storage options.
however, when browsing with root explorer a folder like that already exists

If I want to go back to my oreo rom after installing this GSI, do I have to also backup /vendor and then restore it after installing android P? I just don't want to mess up anything since I'm kinda downgrading and I'm assuming these post GSIs somehow patch the vendor partition...
Android p dp5 booted. THANKS

You can just enable camera2api and disable it again and flashlight will work again
Need to explain that you have to extract Android P DP5 sGSI and install as system image, because it lacked that information I stayed vary hours trying to install as zip
Hi,
I want to try out Android Pie with Treble Support - is it possible and uncomplicated to switch back to an Android 8.1 ROM after you flashed the alternative TWRP with Treble-Support + POST-sGSI zips?

[RECOVERY] TWRP 3.5.0-0 - TeamWin Recovery Project
Introduction:
Team Win Recovery Project or TWRP for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. We started from the ground up by taking AOSP recovery and loading it with the standard recovery options, then added a lot of our own features. It's a fully touch driven user interface , no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.
Key Features:
Touchscreen driven with real buttons and drag-to-scroll
XML-based GUI that allows full customization of the layout true theming!
Settings are saved to the sdcard and persist through reboots
Ability to choose which partitions to back up and which to restore
Ability to choose to compress backups now with pigz (multi-core processor support for faster compression times)
Onscreen keyboard
Easy selection of internal/external storage
In addition to the above new features, TWRP features a scripting engine that allows an app to send commands to the recovery for the recovery to perform during startup. We call this scripting engine OpenRecoveryScript. This engine will be put to use immediately in the GooManager app. GooManager will be able to install recoveries automatically for most supported devices. The app will also let you choose to install multiple zips from within Android, wipe, and run a backup.
We are looking for other talented developers, themers, and device maintainers if they are interested in helping with a free, open source project.

If you have made your own TWRP build for an unsupported device, please let us know. We might add your build to the list of unofficial builds. Bear in mind that we are working hard to add more devices and we may add your device to our official build list later.

Old info:
Hello, this is a test build for flame users (will work on coral crosshatch/blueline later). The image is pretty safe for backing up now.
So far I have decryption working, touch, adb and backup and restore seems to work. Super partition volumes can be mounted, and the super partition can be backed up.
Not working: sideload and fastbootd

What to backup
* super
* data
* persist
* boot
* any other partition desired
What to restore
* super
* data
* boot - depending on ROM support
Please just restore persist if you have a failed partition. I do not recommend restoring backups from phone to phone unless you know what you are doing.
Repacking TWRP into Boot partition
To repack TWRP into the boot partition to override stock recovery when rebooting to recovery, perform the following steps
1. adb push <latest_boot.img> /sdcard/
2. reboot to bootloader and fastboot latest boot.img of TWRP
3. Go to Install
4. Touch Install Image
5. Select your boot.img from /sdcard
6. Swipe to confirm flash
7. Reboot to recovery and android to verify installation
TWRP won't Boot?
Make sure you have a kernel that supports the R DTBO and LZMA ramdisk starting with test5 such as https://forum.xda-developers.com/pi...nel-kirisakuraq-1-0-0-pixel-4-xl-aka-t3992213
Is this just for flame? Or both coral and flame? Reason I ask is because the 2 devices have significant differences, and if it's just for flame, you'll want to throw it in the regular Pixel 4 subforum
This is for flame as described. I will work on coral next.
They share the same device tree btw.
Weird I thought I chose pixel 4 forum. Asking for this thread to be moved.

Ah man lol got me all excited!
Thanks long awaited :good:
Will try later..
ok fastboot boot boots fine to TWRP but decryption wont work for me

Can confirm this works for flashing. Booted the image and then ADB pushed magisk and kernel and both flashed successfully!
Will try removing lockscreen security next attempt to gain access to internal storage which should likely work.
Great work to see, we are finally not tied to magisk for flashing things now
