Hi dears,
It's my first post here and I'm very excited about this
I have more than 15 years experience in programming and I developing Android Apps since 3 years ago.
In my new job in a company, we have devices that produce in China. This device is an android tablet just like as other android tablets. We have some apps that just play music and video from our servers for our customers in free and paid mode.
Now we think that maybe it's better if we make a custom Android OS for our tablets that just have our apps and nothing more. And even users can not install new apps or change settings or other customization on our tablets.
Now I want to know is it possible with creating a new ROM or I must be worked deeply on android os and what do you think in general?
From where I can start and what's the roadmap for this project?
Thanks in advanced,
AndroiderMan

I am interested in investing in one of the new android tab/laptop combos coming out soon and am interested in what programs can android not run. I love android and the ease of some features vs current i5 laptop. But everyone says android is not good for productivity and confused as to what they mean. Could you elaborate on the subject unless I am a developer or creating videos what cant these new machines do? thank you
You can browse the internet, write texts, watch movies/videos, play games, and some more things. Nearly all the basic functions of a computer should work

Hey,
I will get my android device soon. It'll be HTC one M7 with Android 5.0.2
Im thinking about applications that should I install as im new to Android. I want to keep my data private and my phone very fast. Which applications should I use to keep phone "fresh" and secure? I will surely use some permission managers and Aptoide shop instead of Google play one. Of course there's root access. Im in computers and electronics for many years so I search for powerful applications, not idiot-proof that I see on GP shop. ROM will be Viper 8.0 but AFAIK this is not that important as version.
I was using jailbroken WP 7.5 and I was happy before but that system is deprecated now. I would like to customize system more but keep it fast as WP7 was.
I would also like to ask how to "ungoogle" the phone and disable crap like data synchronization to google servers etc.
I will also try to modify system as I know some programming languages
I will be happy to get any advices from You
Thank You in advance
Regards
Little bump because I think question is easy but it got digged.
Hello,
First of all I would like to say that I'm completely new to android (except for the occasional dabblin on a friends phone) so please go easy on me. I am tech savy, but just never had anything to do with this platform, due to my not so nice opinion of google...
I am on blackberry passport and am/was a loyal bb customer with all that follows. But please I do not wish to start android vs bb vs ios etc thread. It is a matter of taste in the end.
So long story short, never had anything to do with IOS or android as I prefered BB for security, productivity and slimeline OS. However due to recent BB swithc to android and priv (which id god awful imho) and apparent abandonment of OS10 i am faced with increasing frustraton over current passport usage as it is more and more laggy problematic every day. So seeming that bb has abandoned os10 I have finnaly decided that perhaps it is a time for a different platform.
I am considering getting the oneplus 3.
So my questions are:
- What kernel and ROM to flash? I explicitly do not want anything to do with google or google services, i do not have gmail and have no intentions to open one. I do not use any service connected to google, no cloud sync, no FB, no instagram etc.... I want my phone google free, bloatware, spyware, ads free, cloud sync free etc. so basically I want as much control over what is installed as possible, with preferably NO personal info shared to any service.
- What is the most open source build? (coming from a viewpoint that google is evil, apple too.. I am putting my trust in the open source community) - replicant project peaked my interest, but the supported phones are too old and too few. I would be extremely pleased tho, if sth like this existed for newer phones.
- Encryption is a must, both of memory and communication (pgp)
- advanced app permission control is a must
- if there exist sth like BB hub or other similar true multitasking option even better
to put it simply, what custom rom and kernel to flash to get the most secure, opensource, google and similar companies free phone with maximum control over os and no to minimum personal info shared.
I would very much appreciate if you could point me in the right direction. As i said no experiance with android, but am quick learner and tech savy. so no need to dumb it down for me.
Thank you !!
Hello,
I have two phones , one Cat S60 and today, reciewed my new Cat S61.
I have installed same apps that i have on my S60, but, the problem is, many modded app or other unnoficial app have problems with the new android system. On my S60, it working very well.
For exemple, i have and old version of Pocket Informant (i supposed is a "cracked" version but not sure) and a Modded version of Hogwarts Mystery. Both crash instantly when louching the app. Have black screen for few seconds and return to android desktop and have a texte say the app have crashed. If retry, same crash and android said (in french: "Harry Potter s'arrête systémathiquement") i think trad is "Always Crashing". I have no problems on the S60 is running on Android Mashmallow (if i'm correct). Other user have similar problems with custom app like me on his Android Oreo 8.1 or it's specific to the News Cat S61 and will be resolved by future update?
Thanks in advance for your answer and sorry for my bad spelling ^^'
Sounds like the applications are incompatible with the new android. Keep sending the reports to the developers and hopefully some day they release new versions for new Android. If you are rocking some "cracked" soft, then it might just be an old- non-updated version of the app. Search for these apps on google play and purchase them, if you enjoy them. That gives the developers some well deserved money and motivation to fix the issues.

That i have maked for Pocket Informant. The reason i have a cracked version is i dont like the new interface of the calendar (and as need to pay for have all function, for gaving an old version of the app, needed to be a "cracked" because if isnt, even if you have paid the new version, the old (uncrackef) stay limited function. For harry potter (hogwards mystery) it just i whont paid anything ingame for advance in game or other. If the dev put this game on store and need to paid for have it and play "unlimited, i will pay for it, but... If you read how the game is working, it's just a scam for get maximum monney of people X). The mod make just infinite energy ingame and dont need to paid for advance in the game ^^.
So, it's not a Android "limitation" to make unable to have non official or modded apk . I will wait that get new version of my apps and see what happens.
Hi, after postponing for many years my phone finally snapped beyond logic (has an infinite system popup spam with "unfortunately x service has stopped working", with options like 'Wait' and 'Ok') and I thought this could be a good opportunity to try a custom ROM (since it was running too slow and Android was limiting resources too much, even before any of this). My phone uses Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean), I thought that alone was enough, but I just happened to see that it also has to match the device model... and after visiting all custom ROM websites, it seems that there's no support at all for this phone, which is utterly frustrating.
So, as a leap of faith, I'm asking here if there's any ROM known for being widely compatible that isn't indexed in search engines.
Wikipedia named some that have their websites down (or maybe the list is outdated).
Though it's not my first time installating OS in desktop devices (and laptops), I'm still entirely new in the actual android/mobile customization world.
Still waiting for a response.
waiting for a response x2
i have the same device. its possible to do something if you have knowledge about doing a kernel or modify some things man, i never find a rom for that but i can say..... uwu maybe a simple system apk modifications or deleting it......if your objetive is videogames you could delete all thrash things and have only the system essentials services to use more smothly.
