Hi all,
Sorry if this has already been covered, but all the info I can find is for the original Gear Fit.
Has anybody been able to get the Gear Fit 2 working with a custom rom on a Samsung Device? I'm trying to run LineageOS 14 on my GS5 but have had no success getting Open Fit or any of the Samsung Gear Manager APKs to talk to the gear. Bluetooth connection works fine, but can't get past that. I managed to get Gear Manager installed, but get a message "The operating system on your phone has been modified..." and I can't get past that screen.
Anybody had luck on the GF2 on custom roms?
Gear Fit2 works on ALL android phone with the PlayStore Gear Manager version
Ok it seems to work with some editing of the /system/build.prop file, then re-downloading the Samsung Gear app from the playstore. Works for CM14. See this thread:

Hello,
I've been trying for days to connect a Gear Fit 2 to a Galaxy S 3 Mini.
I have tried on the S3 Mini both a 5.1.1 as well as a 6.0.1 of CM.
The build.prop I have modified and all "samsung" replaced by "htc".
Various Samsung Gear Apps I've tried (including Gear Plugin).
The app can not find the Gear Fit 2, pairing works
With an iPhone it works, as well with the S 7 Edge of my wife.
Any ideas ?
Many Thanks
Thomas

LOL. Of all brands, iPhones! Clearly you haven't heard about Louis Rossman's vendetta against Apple, hehe. While Samsung sucks regarding this issue in particular, it's still leagues above Apple. Though give it time and I'm sure it'll get worse. I really think we can't appreciate enough how valuable it is that Android is open source.

HTC one X not beeing able to connect
Hello,
of course I am new here and probably every one will lough at my problem. My wife bought me Samsung Gear S and I am trying to make it working with my HTC one X. I have already updated and rooted this phone and now I am running Android 4.4.2 (3.1.10 cyanogenmod, AOSB KitKat version 1.3.2) which my friend installed for me. I have also followed the main instruction of this post and was able to install software and get the gear s to appear to my phone. Unfortunatelly the gear manager keeps trying to connect and nothing happens. the GEAR S is waiting for configuration and the phone with gear manager is trying to connect with the watch.
is that possible that this HTC one X is not compatible with gear s?
Thank you for any help.

You can try to do the Gear Manager mod.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2723862
I have found that this is a proven way to get the two connected. However, as i read thru the forum, it seems tho some things don't work and problems began to appear with some members.
This is how I solved the issue with my HTC One. It works very well and has yet to cause any issues.

I really think you'll love this watch... One of the better SW's I've tried. The Tizen os has a great GUI, but lacks severely in available apps. Hopefully, that will change... but I'm not holding my breath. Overall, the stock apps are sufficient to do all the necessary tasks... but that's about it, not much customizing here.
I do know that root has already been achieved. This should open the doors for some decent mods. So check the forums often.
Good luck!
still not done
So far no luck. I have follow all the instructions from the post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2723862
and got to the point that I pair the devices. If I use newest version of the soft the gear manager does not see my watch. When I instaled instead older version (~1.7 -2.0) than I can see my watch in the gear manager and pair with it. But that does not solve my problem. After pairing the phone goes to connecting mode and conects with the gear s forever.
there is also solution for this on the post you have sent me and I have installed all that, but unfortunatelly nothing changeg. Still connecting forever.
I am starting to think: is that possible that HTC One X has Bluetooth that is not compatible with the gear s?
thanks for help. I am still trying.

Hi all,
Is there a way to connect the Gear S via BT to multiple phones?
Mine is already connected to a Galaxy S4 mini (as well as remotely connected many times), but i would love it if i could also connect via BT to my iPhone 6.
I know the functionality (when connected to the iPhone) will be severely handicapped (just phone calls) but still i would like to have that.
Thank you very much in advance.
UPDATE: I have found this thread bellow:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s/general/activate-gear-s-samsung-phone-t2932869/
Member @sticmou has come up with a possible solution but is is not quite what i was seeking for.
Ideally the watch should be able to connect to both my S4 mini and my iPhone 6.
Lol Samsung and apple don't play nice, they fight on the playground....I'll hand it to you ,you are very brave to even suggest this haha. Goodluck though I don't think it's possible

Hi there!
I have had progress. Unfortunately i am very busy right now, but i will get back soon with details. Maybe i will even make a video on my channel.
You may be surprised...
I am more interested in the opposite: making 2 Gear watches (Gear 1 and Gear S) work with one phone simultaneously - if it can be an iPhone, even better.
Please excuse my double posting (been answer in another tread as well.)
Yes, XS6 edge just came out, so there will not be too many people suffering the same yet, but here my story, asking for help. Anybody else?
Brand new Galaxy S6 edge and Gear Fit - "Bluetooth Disconnected"
Dear gentlemen, thank you very much for the work and effort, but I still could not get that thing working...
This is an expat lady in Japan who bought a Gear Fit for running.
I never had a smart phone so far and thought "it is about time", so I went to an AU-shop close by and the staff told me "Sorry, Galaxy S5 is sold out, but S6 will come out soon and will for sure work with the Gear Fit." I waited and got S6 edge. In the meantime I ordered the Gear Fit from Amazon already.
But now nothing works. The phone and the watch do match as far as you have to verify that code, but after clicking O.K. all it says is "Bluetooth Disconnected" - and that was it. I cannot use the watch (it speaks Chinese by the way, I do not...) at all. I downloaded the Gear Fit Manager from the Samsung Homepage Japan on Saturday and that is the version I tried to use so far.
I read through forums and downloaded that Odin - but I am too stupid for that. It said 0 success, 0 failure, I tried again and it became 1 failure. I do not get what Lollipop or how to use that either and wonder if all that at all is for me, since my phone is just too new? Or is the watches' software too old?
Even getting it into the download mode, the rest did not work. How to update the firmware in the watch (and do I have to?)
I tried to download the latest manager from the links here, but the phone blocks it or tells me "sorry, does not work".
So last Saturday I got my first ever Smart Phone, the newest and greatest stuff on the planet people want to tell me.... I am not at all a programmer and most I am reading here I do not understand. So please tell me something idiot-proved please.
All I wanted was the watch in first place, since I am not willing to run with a 100.000 yen phone I might drop and damage...
What to do now?
Thank you very much,
hopphase
I have Galaxy S5 and my Gear Fit Manager is v1.117.0306 and Gear Fit firmware ends letter OA2. I haven't play with ODIN. Both have come automatically to my devices with update process.
Easy way: try to boot both phone and then Gear Fit.
Open your S6 notifications panel, hold a while Bluetooth button and tap where read someting like: "make phone visible to other Bluetooth devices".
Now boot your Gear Fit and watch what your screen tell you. When you need to type secret codes, you are close to goal.
The language what you have on your Gear Fit comes directly from your phone (Galaxy S6). If you use swedish on your phone, the Gear Fit is in swedish, your phone english, Gear Fit english etc.
The problem was Chinese
Thank you very much.
@ All.
Good news first - Galaxy S6 edge does pair with Gear Fit without a problem - if the models like each other (same country / zone at least)
I went to a Galaxy-shop in Tokyo and the staff tried for over an hour.
We found out that mine is a CHINESE model (not made in China, but made FOR China) - and their Bluetooth is not working with ours here in Japan. They tried to replace the software and everything, but it seemed to be "locked" they said.
I thought "what the heck, ain't we global?" Well, not yet.
So I will send the Gear Fit back (I did buy it from an Amazone-store in Tokyo btw.) and buy a Japanese model at the very store I went to yesterday.

I used my Gear Fit with Albe95 S6 PORT 2.0 on my S4, worked like a charm.
I tried the white gear manager that installs different files. That didn't work. I believe some threads say that version only works for Kit Kat. I don't want to go through Odin and flash something on my gear to have it not work. So if anyone can point me in the right direction, that would be AWESOME.....
Any ideas?
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Still need some help. Haven't figured it out yet.
Flashing Android Wear is pretty much the only way to get it to work with a non-samsung phone. I have a gear 2 neo and I followed every tutorial I could find to get it to connect, but flashing AW was the only thing that worked. Check out this thread- http://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-2/development/please-help-kernel-compiling-android-t2992953 This is what I flashed & everything works great now.
Plus 1.....i have gear2neo.....only thing that worked was the Android wear port.....spent hours and hours trying to connect with the original tizen to no avail....i like tizen better
I honestly wish I could go back to Tizen. The battery life was much better plus I can't get my favorite watch face on AW :/
I have just aquired an Honor 10 and gear s3 watch. Try as I might, no amount of clearing data/cache has worked. Everything reinstalled multiple times... I have upgraded the firmware on the watch by pairing with another phone.
Basically the watch will pair with the phone, but the app/plugin crashes as soon as I accept the pairing. I think the S plugin fails to open, and the galaxy app then crashes. I'm not sure if this is better posted here or in the gear s3 forum, but to be honest this is driving me mad.
I would really appreciate it if anyone could throw any light on this!!

Don't really have experience with this myself but I heard that majority of non-samsung phones have issues with Samsung galaxy gear watches. You might consider refunding them and getting some wear OS watch instead, snapdragon 3100 for watches is launching soon and it'll be better anyway.
