10.1 inch tablet soft bricked - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi everyone i have a 10.1 " chinese tablet on an mtk6592 cpu with 3gb ram running marshmallow . i left it plugged into my windows 10 pc that was having issues with its modified xeon cpu . basically my daughter unplugged it from the pc used it then switched t off overnight next day it hangs on android screen and doesnt boot . adb doesnt see it so im assuming usb debugging is switched off . fastboot sees it but wont flash it.
when i boot it into recovery mode nd run a test it states it has a missing xbin file and 3 modified files but my daughter swerars she didnt root it or touch anything. now when i try to apply update from sd card it goes into the os on the tablet but doesnt list any files on the sd card . i have since swapped out the xeon for an old quadcore chip and reinstalled an os but went with linux mint . now i can only see the device in fastboot but not in adb and i get a mount error when i try to connect to pc in anything but fastboot mode . im no pro but im pretty competent on pcs but ive literally zero experience on android flashing etc all ive tried so far is from 3 weeks of reading forums online but im no closer to solving my problem does anyone have any ideas what i can do on a linux os . ps flashtool doesnt recognise it as connected either.

Did you install mtk usb drivers? If not, try to install it for SP Flash Tool to recognize your device. I also got the same problem before but installing mtk usb drivers solved it. It's worth a try. Hit thanks if it helped you.

Install SP flash tool, install mtk usb drivers, download the correct rom for your device. The zipped rom should come with a 'scatter file' when unzipped. Run sp flash tool as administrator load scatter file then when sp flash tool reads your device (you can see it at the boottom of sp flash tool window), click download and wait for it to finish. That should solve to bootloop. Hit thanks button if it helped you.

Bricked Tablet

I really Need Help! My computer wont recognize my tablet in fastboot mode, and my tablet wont read my micro SD card, also when i turn it on normally it stays at splash screen and when its plugged in to the computer the computer starts installing the drivers and it fails to install each time. I go to troubleshooting options and it states code 10. which states device cannot start.
I Have looked for ways around this, like manually installing the drivers, and my computer wont let me. Also the tablet can go to both: bootloader, and Clockworkmod recovery.
I factory reset my tablet so I cannot install anything, untill i get it to connect to my computer.
I am running Windows 7 64-bit on my computer!
Any help is very much appreciated!
Thanks!

Did you install the naked driver from here? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426502 if not do that first once you get that working... then you should be able to fastboot to the pc... next thing I would concider is going to twrp recovery instead of cwm....either go for an older version or go the full gambit of nvflash then install the latest twrp... after that you should be set.....I can comment more on it if you need it....

What do you see in device manager with the tablet plugged into the pc and running in fastboot?
Maybe this helps
I had a similar issue but my tablet couldn't be identified by windows, at first i thought it was my drivers so i tried to install new ones but windows wouldn't let me stating the same code 10. At the end it was a defective usb cable, i bought a new one and everything worked all right the first time i plugged it in. And by the way i was stucked at the CWM loop. Hope this helps and sorry for my bad english.

[Q] I can't get access to recovery mode in nextbook premium 8 se

hello
Thank you for having treated this thread because i didn't find any solution in the net and the only forum i feelt that he is good and i will find the help is yours so please i want your help.
I have nextbook premium 8 se and i use it well suddenly it shutdown and do not respond I did a long press on power but nothing i tried to do a reset with that little thing in the corner but nothing i tried to get access to recovery mode with pressing power and sound + but nothing it always blocked in the first logo. by the way my tab was rooted using the methode linked in " www"dot"freaktab"dot"com/showthread.php?6674-Amlogic-Next8HD8G-(NX008HD8G)-Modified-Recovery-Stock-Rom-amp-Flashable-Root " i used the modified recovery and the root package and it worked well with super su.apk.shoretly my nextbook premium 8 se c'ant boot can't have access to recovery mode to do a hard reset can't be open at all and stil freeze in the first logo until i long press the power so that it shutdown and the battery and tha charger ac worked well and the led also .
I followed many threads some use aml flach some use rk29upgrade.exe but my problem was that i didn't have a full rom package. also i tried to connect my tab with my pc so that i plug the usb and press power and sound - until my pc shows a new unknown device and failed in getting driver and in the device manager it shows M3-Chip after a long search i installed the driver libusb-win32-bin-1.2.6.0 so my tab was named worldcup device but still not detected by aml flach and also rk29upgrade !!!!! I didn't know what should i do i am a beginner in android world so i reach these information after a long nights in the net so please i need your help guys i know that you can do it !!!
brick
you now own a brick if you flashed an incomplete rom package.......you need the fastboot files, etc yada yada from who ever makes that tablet....then maybe just maybe you can turn your beautiful new brick back into a little android man once again...
I guess I cant post the stupid link but google android SDK tools and go to that website and download the tools and install the basic package for your tablet and make sure google usb drivers are checked when downloading it all.....you need that google driver so you can install it on your windows system so your computer can read the tablet....anyways do that install driver in windows device manager under that unknown device and then reboot everything and you should have a generic android driver now installed..............you flashed root so you never set up SDK so im guessing you don't have a clue as to why you bricked your phone but hopefully this will help.....if you do unbrick it then you have to use that link you posted....his stock rom and flash that over what you have on there right now and you should just stop trying to flash stuff until you have a clue as to how to fix the device BEFORE you start.....

Lenovo P70A problems with flashing TWRP

Hey, I am new here so sorry if I'm posting in wrong board.
I rooted my P70 a while ago and everything was fine. Now I decided that I want to flash 5.1.1 on it. I proceeded to flash TWRP.
I tried it with SP flash on pc, I checked that my scatter file and recovery.img was correct. I opened the scatter file in SP, connected my phone and clicked download, but nothing happened. Only the phone started charging, I have enabled USB Debugging and developer mode. The bootloader was still the stock one. Why?
Next thing I tried is to put the recovery.img on SD card and downloading Uncletools, I flashed it and it asked me if I want to reboot in bootloader, so I did, but it was still the stock bootloader.
What am I doing wrong? Thanks a lot for any response.
Anyone got any idea?
Click download and conecting usb cable to hh
Hey,
I have the same issue. The phone is rooted but the SP flash tool will not do anything. I've read that it's because the USB drivers are incorrect. However I am unable to install the drivers as the phone does not show up under other devices but rather under portable devices. I tried to install the android sdk and use those drivers or ones I found on the web but none of them will take. I found the ADB device signed driver under USB devices in the device manager.
I am honestly at a loss here. Would be grateful if anyone has ideas I could try!
Thanks

troubleshooting to connect the phone to the PC

Hi all,
by cons for several weeks I've a concern with my redmi Note 2 and I can't find the answer to my problem on the forum or even the Internet.
Since the last update 7.2.2 (global) I have the Recovery MIUI who crushed the TWRP. I changed to test 6.3.17. The update to the .24 went wrong and I don't know why. Since the phone is bootloop. But the problem is that my phone is not recognized by any PC. I tried several PCs, several cables, several drivers, with or without the Fastboot, unable to connect. Therefore impossible to load a new version. I don't think it's material problem because the phone recharge well with a cable to the socket.
Is there another handling or debug decision to restart the phone? I'm in France for information.
thank you in advance if you can point me to a solution !
Hope someone can help me.
Manu
Can the phone boot to miui recovery? If so, you should be able to use miui recovery to flash TWRP (I think you will need one with a signed install zip). You only need to take out the external SD, put it in one of those cheap USB card readers, copy your recovery and ROM to the SD, put it back in the phone, flash TWRP with miui recovery, and then flash the ROM with TWRP (I am assuming that miui recovery can install things from the external SD - if not, then none of this will work).
Hi Bro,
Yes it boot in MIUI recovery but impossible to get access to the SD Card...
I tried to put the file on the SD card but you can't choose the path, I think the recovery will look only in the internal memory ... And as I can't access the internal memory..
I despair !!
Thanks o lot for your help

Ok - but have you tried the Mediatek SP Flash Tool?
Of course yes but the real problem is that the phone is not recognized by the PC and therefore can't load anything ...
Even changing drivers or cables or PC, nothing to do.

So, when the battery is removed, and you connect the USB cable, the phone is not even vibrating (and making that weird sound) every couple of seconds or so?
Yes you're right : every 10s the phone vibrate...

Well, then it is very strange that you can't use the SP Flash Tool. If the phone vibrates, then the device is recognised, and you should be able to flash anything you want with the SP Flash Tool! How exactly were you trying to use the Flash Tool?
I tried so many solutions I really don't know exactly how I used the software.
I will again try everything.
But against any changes when I look in the USB settings of the PC, the phone doesn't appear.
I try again just now, thank you for your help.

With the SP Flash Tool, all you need is the correct "scatter" file (MT6795_Android_scatter.txt), and the image(s) that you want to flash. If the phone is vibrating, then the SP Flash Tool should be able to connect to it when you click "Download". Just make sure that you first untick everything that you do NOT want to flash. I would try flashing the boot image (boot.img) first. If that succeeds, then try the TWRP recovery image.
Ok. I'm going to try again with "http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=196175&highlight=sp%2Btool%2Bflash%2Bredmi%2Bnote%2B2"

Strange! I am assuming that when you connect the phone with the USB cable, the battery has been removed from the phone? If so, then it should work.
Perhaps you should try first connecting the phone, and then waiting until it has vibrated once or twice, before clicking the "Download" button?
Yes I removed battery before connect the phone to PC. I tried also with battery and nothing changed.
I even changed the cable to be sure.
Which seems to me most strange is that I see nothing in the device manager, as if the phone wasn't connected. Whatever the installed driver is the same result. I think it should at least have the phone on the COM or USB port ...
I will try again this night to be sure with all steps one by one. And I will also try with ACER tablet I and runs Android 5.1. Maybe it will be recognized.
Otherwise I also tried to pass a Linux PC as a last resort.
Thanks again for your help.

Yes, it should. The fact that the phone vibrates when connected indicates that the PC and phone are communicating - but it may well be that a low-level driver in the phone has been overwritten (which may mean that this is a lost cause). A final idea - can miui recovery access usbotg?
Hum good question. In fact I don't know. I'll ask the MIUI forum.
I got home late from work so I don't do tests tonight, I'd see it all tomorrow including the connection with my tablet ...
Thanks

Hi,
I tried to connect with an Acer Tablet with Android 5.1.1 but nothing appends...
I tried also with a Linux PC (Debian) and if I can see a Samsung A3 phone dirrectly, no way for my Redmi Note 2...
There really I despair : I think I can't access any of the phone. Can't do anything !
If you have any other solution but you help me a lot already, and thanks for that.
Can be a micro crack on the USB plug into the phone if it's not a software problem ... Let's go for it apart and look at this ...
Thanks again bro.

I don't think it is a crack on the USB plug. It seems to me to be a low-level driver problem - ie, the drivers on the phone that are active when the phone is not (fully) booted up. I don't have the right terminology for these drivers, but they are possibly part of the bootloader. If that is the problem, then I don't know how you would solve this problem.

Need help with softbrick!

Hello, guys.
Recently, I've tried to root a Cubot Power 4G following a guide I found online. I probably should have been more catious about it, cause now the phone is stuck on a bootloop. I tried to install a custom recovery to try and fix this, but as there was no official twrp for Cubot, I once again downloaded something that was probably shady. Thus, now the phone is stuck on bootloop, won't access recovery mode, is now turned off because battery gave out, but if I try to connect it to the pc, it will start to bootloop again. I cannot access adb, or at the least I don't know a way to, since it keeps bootlooping and I have no way to access a recovery mode(since there's no one, or at the least, if there is, it's faulty). What can I do here?
@Giordyman
Re-flash phone's Stock ROM by means od MTK Flash Tool. You have to install the Mediatek VCOM drivers before on your Windows computer, if not done yet.

I did! Or so I think... The moment I connect it to the pc, it starts bootlooping and so the pc cannot actually connect there
Bootloop is a situation where you cannot get into the "normal" Android system. Take note that as soon Android logo is shown on phone's display Android kernel got successfully initialized, ADB & Fastboot are ready.
