Hi, forum!
I have a Player 5.0 (YP-G70). From reading just a bit of posts it seems like there are different versions of this device (US, Korean and International?). I assume that I have the international version but how can you tell for sure?
Also, I have the stock 2.3.5 ROM, which ROM is the latest/stable/best to go for? If camera isn't 100% it's not the end of the world as it's more important to have the latest possible ROM with stability I think.
TIA!

The U.S. Player 5.0 has a capacitive home button while the international and Korean have a physical home button. The Korean version has a 5mp rear camera while the U.S. and international versions have a 3mp rear camera. I run my own Carbon KitKat build which seems stable enough for me but I really only use my player now for watching videos... I also build some Lollipop ROMs for this device but they do not run very well.

Thank you for the reply! I have the physical button so then it's confirmed that I have an international device I guess.
Will your "Carbon" ROM work on the international device that I have?

A while back Mevordel was trying to integrate kernel compatibility for the Korean Galaxy Player's camera into the preliminary JB kernel.
However, kernel development for the Galaxy Player has come such a long way and I'm not sure if drivers for the Korean camera were ever integrated into the latest kernel build(s). From what I understand, the camera drivers from the Nexus S (Crespo) are the same as the Korean SGP's camera, and it would be great if a dev could incorporate compatibility in a future kernel release.
I bought my Korean SGP while I was living and working in Seoul. There aren't A LOT of us Korean users on here, but I know that I am not the only one.
Thanks for reading, and for your consideration.
Hi, I can get a deal offer for the s3 at the price of $233. But I have some questions
Is it still worth getting the galaxy s3 in 2014?
WIll it get official android L from samsung (there is already official kitkat right?)
if there's no official android L, does it have official Cyanogenmod support and so will it get android L cyanogenmod?
for future android L custom roms , will there be problems with some drivers? (e.g. my htc desure never got proper camera support on android 4.X roms as the drivers are not available). Are all drivers(and source code) released by samsung for the s3?
how does it compare with the galaxy s4? is the latter worth the price difference
how is camera (important for me) as compared to smarphones in the same price range available today (e.g. xperia sp, galaxy s4 mini)
thx for your time reading my long list of questions and waiting your replies and suggestions guys. Thx
No, no and no, yes and unlikely, yes and no, s4 is better but not by much, camera is good but only on stock rom.
is camera bad on custom roms? and there's no cyanogenmod official support?

1) Absolutely no for the only 1 GB of RAM.
Actually on Amazon is very sold its Neo variant with 1,5 GB, but according to me it's a madness: a newer hardware is highly preferable and x64 architecture is coming.
2) Absolutely no and you are wrong: no KitKat official support for S3, why it should be extended to Android L? It's impossible!
3) Yes, it's promised by Cyanogen team, but never more the bull**** did with CM 10.2, working of course on a stable rom to switch to CM 11 nightlies as soon as possible.
When CM 11 stable is released, you can stay on CM 12 nightlies.
4) Samsung drivers are already released for custom rom, except for the 2-way call recording.
CyanogenMod prefers to use the hybrid and open source drivers, but with a specific BOEFFLA kernel, actually experimental, you can get the official and proprietary drivers, much better than first.
5) Galaxy S4 is obviously greater than S3 under any aspect, its price is about €300-350.
6) S3 has an excellent camera, but in AOSP roms it's not provided of a good stabilization, so pictures are a bit more moving than in stock rom.
Yup I know there are better hardware (obviously.. it is 2 yrs old) but for the price of $233 is it worth it? I don't want to spend more than $300 on a phone.

will check this out... if the community of custom roms is active (but 5.5" is a bit too big for me and i hope it has sdcard and removable battery)
edit: are you sure it is better than the S3? looking at the specs, it does not look that great and it's a mediatek cpu ... )

I don't know the Mediatek reputation, LG G Pro under many aspects is the ideal phone for your budget.
On Amazon.it its price is about €250, I think less on a bigger store such Amazon US or DE.
As me you want to root the device and flash a custom rom... LG is the only trademark who guarantee warranty also under root permissions.
Please can someone get me the quaraqumus QS-i9300-KK-v2.6 resumable link
I recently smashed up my S4 Mini. I was going to repair it, but it seems for not much more cost I could get an S5 Mini or Alpha.
I have been happy running CyanogenMod 11 for several years now; very stable. Reading here, looks like I might not get the same stability from S5 Mini or Alpha though -- given the choice, should I upgrade or stay with the S4 Mini?
Small screen and changeable battery are important to me, as is running a fairly 'open' ROM with PrivacyGuard and some other features I got from CyanogenMod 11. Nothing too experimental though, as I still need to reliably use the phone day-to-day for work etc.
Thanks -- Mark
Alpha has far more better hardware specification (both exynos and qualcom variants) than S5 Mini. I'm using Alpha with exynos and it's a really solid phone but Cyanogen based ROMs aren't working good enough for me to use them day-to-day, in the other hand firmware based ROMs like EpsilRom are working great so if you can live with it than it's worth taking. As far as I know Snapdragon version has no problem with Cyanogenmod but I heard that its CPU is not as fast as exynos one (but it's still the same chip that is in S5). Exynos variant is G850F and Snapdagon is G850W. The only advantages for S5 Mini for me are that it's waterproof and it has micro SD card slot.
Thanks -- very useful.
Can you tell me more of what you mean by "firmware based ROM"? I'm guessing you might mean they are modified versions of the stock ROM, rather than being a compile from source code?
I'll need to look into this situation with variants Exynos vs. Qualcom variants, and which variants are the one on the second hand market here (I'm in the UK)

Yes I meant modified version of the stock ROM, I'm using this one right now: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-alpha/development/rom-epsilrom-future-t3311333
Exynos variant is like default for Europe so it would be easier to get, and be carefull with these variants because there are few exynos versions(for example G850F and G850K) and few with snapdragon (G850W, G850A)
In theory if g850a was fully unlocked, this forum would be very active :/
Both @kyasu and @modpunk develop LOS 13/14.1.
Definitely if you are choosing from s5mini and ALPHA. Then ALPHA. The S5 mini is compared to Alpha very ****ty build. Plasticky and etc .. Alpha si more premium feel. And performance.
Meizu M6 Note uses Snapdragon 625 and runs Android 7.1.2 Nougat, however, I don't know if Camera2 API is supported by this device. I would surely buy this thing if it can do HDR+ using modded Google Camera app! I still have the original MX 4-core and the MX5, and I really want to add this to my collection (good thing it has full manual control as well!)
do you have updates on this ? i would be interested to buy as well.

You got the device pretty early
The device launched two month ago in China so MEIZU hasn't even released this device firmware.
That means no TWRP recovery yet
MEIZU also going to launch this phone globally in a few months so the best thing for now is wait.
(They announced that they going to launch this phone soon in Greece)
I really believe this device would get a good community support as SD625+Sony IMX 362 makes a great combo.
The camera really destroys even the Mi6 sensor in some ocations and the phone only cost 140€ for the 16gb version.
Also don't forget the quite superior front facing camera .
I was going to get the mi a1 but when I saw this bad boy I knew this is the phone I'll get.

I can't understand what you wanna say
If I understand you're talking about the M6 Note community.
There no global release for the device yet .
Even MEIZU hasn't released the device ROM on their website so no bootloader unlock or custom recoveries yet.
MEIZU will launch the phone soon in EU so we'll have to wait for a global ROM , bootloader unlock tool and kernel sources

You're talking about the device specific forums
A couple of days ago I asked in the device request section to register this device on the forums.
Before we had to post on the General section
Now we have the device description, section and tags

As I said the device released a couple of months so we have to wait
Looking forward for the Google Camera Port to this cheap IMX362 sensor! Hope it got great performance.
I have this phone now for a week with the latest Flyme update (6.1.4.3A). Phone has amazing battery life and realy good camera but.........it lacks B20 support. Even the site of Meizu says it's support B20 but it does not https://www.meizu.com/en/note6/spec/. I hope in future they can enable it by software but I'm afraid it's hardware related. I have modelnumber M721Q whisch should be Netcom Public version (whatever this means). https://reameizu.com/meizu-product/m721/

Just ordered this phone myself, can you tell me what this means and how did you notice? Will I be able to use it effectively in Holland and Belgium where band 20 is used!?
Was just looking forward to throw away my old 4s. :crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
Maybe you can tell me where did you buy it? Thanks!

I bought it at Lightinthebox. I checked several sites for Band 20 and they confirmed it. Prior to this phone I had GalaxyS5 and LG G3 and both had 4G in my area. The Meizu did not receive 4G. After installing the app Network Signal Guru I discovered no band 20 was supported on my Meizu. I have KPN as proviceder and they use Band 20 for G4. In crowded areas like "Randstad" they also support B3 which the Meizu supports and confirm that 4G is working on B3 but not B20. The support desk of Lightinthebox will check this with Meizu.
Update: I found out you need model B721H Global version

Latest Google Camera app to test on the M6 Note
Google this:
Google Camera 5.1XX apk with Working HDR+ [Mod]
On the stupdroid website, under Download section there are 3 links.
Can someone please try the 3rd link and see if the Gcam work?
PS: I don't have the M6 Note yet and I don't know if the website, the links and the app is trustworthy. Otherwise I would have tested it myself and share the good news.
Not working at all. Sorry. App crashes.
Hi I'm pretty much a noob to all this but I was wondering if there's any way I can get Gcam on my Samsung S10. All the links I've tried just close the app everytime I open it. I'm not sure what version I'm running but my phone says it's One UI version 1.1 and it says Android version 9 if that helps

So there are two versions of the s10. Exynos and Snapdragon (this is the processor). We need to know that before continuing, if you don't know what version you have, telling me the country you bought it from will suffice
Same... I have an s10 from the USA
