Could use some help with rooting - Sony Xperia X Questions & Answers

Hello. I am not very familiar with flashing and rooting stuff, so I would like some help (I do not want to brick my phone)
I have the single sim, and nougat 7 installed. So. I have already unlocked my bootloader (and lost my DRM keys, did not backup).
Question 1: There is a thread on how to root it and as far as I understand I need to roll back to android 6, and flash the .img kernel and then it's rooted? The instructions are very unclear, and badly written. Is this the way to root or I'm wrong? There is no root for android 7 yet, right?
Question 2: Is there a way to bring back the lost DRM features of the camera and the x-reality engine? How? I had found a thread saying how to do it some time ago but I've lost it.
I have read a lot of threads but it's not simple enough for me to understand. Any help would make me very happy

[Q] Some Rooting / Roms Questions

I'm actualy a proud owner of this AWESOME RAZR ... which i buyed from SFR, so it has a Modified Vodafone ROM.
System Version : 651.73.18.XT910.Vodafone.en.FR
My Problem, I think this rom isn't complete at all ... Since i saw it has a modified settings interface, and theses obvious useless apps ...
So, I've got myself a bit informed about how to root the RAZR, but i still have 1 question ... Is it possible to root my device, making a backup of the rom actually installed on my device, get a retrail rom, root it, saving the root, update it, and restore the root ? =)
(And sorry for my english, as mentioned before, i'm french =/ )

To my knowledge, yes to all of those questions. You'll find more in the "Development" section.

root and maybe later restore?

Hello all.
Just had a quick question that I hope someone might be able to help me with.
I am thinking of rooting my prime to play with a custom rom or two.
From what I read about rooting it seems like it is just pushing files based on a tutorial I saw.
Does the tablet actually need to be unlocked to root the tablet and install a custom rom or can I just follow that method without unlocking it?
Also if I decide to go back to stock can I flash a image from Asus to make that happen like you can with Odin on Samsung devices?
Thank you in advance and for your time.

[Q] SGP611 - root needed but no idea how to start

Hi!
Maybe someone can help me with my SGP611 - i read lots of threads but still have no idea, what is possible and how it works.
I am already on Lollipop 5.0.2 (23.1.A.0.690) and I am searching for a solution to root this without loosing my DRM-Keys.
Since I didn't find anything about it, is there maybe any way to downgrade it a flash a pre-rooted firmware or anything like this?
I think rooting 23.1.A.0.690 is not yet possible, right?
I would be very glad, if anyone could help me or provide some information on this!
I am finding too.....

I have the SGP612, 32GB version. Before I update to Lollipop, I want to make a backup of my tablet plus the DRM keys so I can keep everything in case something goes wrong. I'm trying to follow soe guides, but the TA Backup doesn't recognize my tablet. What goes on? ?_?

[Q] Please help me

Hey all my bootloader said it can be unlocked and just wondering if I can have some help with the rooting process this is my first owned sony
get root then install twrp recovery then backup TA.
to root :
try giefroot. if failed, find older kitkat firmware version & flash using flashtools. repeat giefroot.
if Z3v is not supported, then proceed to unlock bootloader
Code:
http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/unlock-yourboot-loader/
unlocking bootloader may cause losing drm keys permanently

Whoa, think about what you're doing first. Are you unlocking for developmental purposes? There hasn't been any root to achieve yet and unlocking will mean losing the DRM keys that Sony uses to enhance such functions like the camera sensors. It's a point of no return because none of the software that's available online supports the Z3v. And I mean root, TA backup, and even PC Companion itself.
Just a caution to let you know.

U have Skype
ya... be careful.... but it is good to know that some of z3v devices are allowed to unlock bootloader.... nice one.... but unfortunately my device was not allowed
p.shashikiran94 why are you resurrecting all these old posts? Are you trying to rack up you post count?
I'm frustrated because after a basically dead board here for several weeks, I posted a question that suddenly got buried out of sight so it never gets answered.
God forbid I ask on the development board for I'll surely suffer "noob chastisement".

It's weird he's resurrecting them, I agree. And I wouldn't bother with unlocking unless there is definitive proof we can. I say this because someone here went so far into the terminal of his Z3v that he got into hot waters and bricked his phone. After changing out with Verizon too many times, they kicked him out of his warranty.

Newb trying to root Verizon Tablet Z2 (SGP561) from 5.0.2.

Okay, I admit, this website indimidates the hell out of me. I'm tech savy and not afraid to mess with things, but the level of new terminology here is staggering.
Anyway, now that you know I'm a wimp: I have a SGP561 Xperia Tablet Z2 from Verizon with Lollipo 5.0.2. I want to root it in order to install custom fonts on Photoshop Touch as I'm living abroad and using my tablet as my main computer while the beast lives back home.
I tried to use the Easy Root Tool but it failed. I assume this is because my firmware is too new and not exploitable as of yet, which means I have to downgrade I believe. I have found some files for flashing (?) but they aren't for the SGP561 specifically - does that matter? All I found were these for Xperia Z2 (not the tablet Z2?)
So, in the easiest language possible, can someone please give a step by step on how to downgrade my SGP561 to a rootable firmware and then flash (?) back to the latest firmware and keep root?
Please, please, please, and thank you.
Bump?
This site is frustrating as hell. Mods are quick to lock noob threads without offering help, and you're not allowed to ask questions in the areas where anyone who knows the friggin answer would ever be anyway! I have a rooted z3V running lollipop, etc, so I'm sort of familiar with the process. But developments had been made where rooting became easier.
I've been wading through endless threads filed with outdated crap trying to figure out how the hell to root my z2 tablet for 3 weeks. None of the way this stuff has been written makes ANY sense.
I'm on 5.02, and want root and dual recovery. Should be simple, right?
I don't even know where to ask the damned question anymore. I've downloaded virus filed $#!+ on my computer, thoroughly screwing it up, TWICE now, only to find I probably didn't even need that file. -Or do I? Download links are so old they don't go anywhere. Can't tell what's what here.
Even this thread ; a WEEK OLD, and no help.

You said it dude. I'm going crazy trying to figure this out. I'm pretty deflated right now and demoralized.
If I ever figure it out, I'll hunt you down and let you know. If you do, please do the same.
Regards.
Seems that you guys are looking for a quick and easy fix, but i dont think that there is one. The method that I used is found in this thread.

I followed those steps in that link. It didn't work for me.
I could not downgrade to 17.1.D.0.437. The device was either in reboot cycle or in the status of in-completed flashed after I flashed the firmware ftf file provided in that post. I had to flash the latest firmware to restore the tablet. I was glad I didn't bricked my tablet.
