Can we switch between different carrier roms on same model [h850] ? - LG G5 Questions & Answers

I'm having h850 model and in its stock rom volte not works. But someone reported me that at my place with vodafone uk branded h850 volte works... So can i flash Vodafone based rom on my phone as both are h850 ?

Yes, but it may factory reset the phone, I experienced this while flashing from Open_EU v20a to the spanish v20c. It's always to make a backup if you care about the stored data.

[Q] flashing a branded phone

my friend has a vodafone branded p760. can i flash v20b eu rom to phone?
Yes you can. Or you can just flash V20A that Vodafone released to keep the brand.

can we root H960A?

hi everybody
I wanna buy V10. In our country we have H960A model
Can I root this model?
And which country is that and what H960A are sold there? If it is France or a French H960A: those can't be rooted. If you country is UAE or you buy a UAE H960A there might be a possibility to root it by flashing the European V20 firmware.
European H960A can be rooted after flashing a V20 firmware (latest is V20c)

I'm in Iran and we have middle east model here
so If I flash European H960A V20c,can I root?
I have LG V10 H960A, which appears to be European Version (no simlock). I rooted the phone running MM. Here are the steps:
- Request Bootloader Unlock key file from LG and unlock the bootloader by entering fastboot mode. Please be aware that your phone will be COMPLETELY WIPED.
- Install TWRP Unofficial version on this forum
- Install SuperSu right after
The detail steps and files please search in XDA.
However, I found no benefit of being root, an annoying message about phone security will appear every time the phone boots. In addition, rooted phone cannot use some direct payment softwares. There are not much bloatwares on the original firmwares, and you can disable them.
If you want to unroot and relock the bootloader, it is possible. The phone will be COMPLETELY WIPED again. And it will probably enter a bootloop mode (boot fails to verification, XXX missing). However, KDZ again the same version of Android before unlock will solve the problem.
The LG Backup function works very well, so Titanium backup makes less sense. Phone runs more stable without root.

Debran H930?

Hi,
it is possible to debrand H930 with Polish Plus firmware? My firmware is: V10e-260-01 - can i reflash open europe firmware - i found files: H93010f_00_OPEN_EU_OP_0925.kdz and H93010v_00_OPEN_EU_OP_1120.kdz which one will be suitable for this operation?
Flash the newest open: H93010v_00_OPEN_EU_OP_1120.kdz
It will remove all carrier apps and boot/power off splash animations if you have it.
I've done it on my Italian H930 TIM carrier branded and it got rid of the above.
You do not need to unlock bootloader to do this. Use Uppercut + LG UP trick.
You also do not have to wipe all your data, mine works just fine without any wiping.
I done it as you described but now in version i see: 10v-260-01 - its looks like branded but there is not brand - why version is with carrier number?
And LG Bridge as repair downloads branded firmware... so its not worked.
But splas screen changed from branded to LG Generic... strange...

Having troubles understanding what you're saying.
You say that carrier's splash screen is gone and carrier's apps are gone then everything worked as it was supposed to.
Why did you use LG's repair? Because firmware number is wrong?
Ok, lets try less chaotic
Firmware upgraded with LGUP and kdz file - splash screen looks like original firmware but in firmware version i see firmware correct but with extension -260-01 like branded...
When i try to check LG bridge recognise as branded and try to download branded firmware too.

Ah yeah I understand now, you want to get rid of the MCC and MNC code which in your case is 260 - Poland, 01 - Plus.
I don't think there's a known way to remove that..yet. Maybe some kind of dial code exists but I'm unaware.
You will still receive OTA and the branding will never come back so I don't think you should worry about it too much.
Edit: Found this thread for LG G5 https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/how-to/cust-error-solution-t3507311
It might work for us too, but you need to be rooted. Haven't tried myself yet. Secret menu code for V30 H930 is *#546368#*930#

Afaik H930G is just H930 with extra storage so it should theoretically work...
Maybe someone with more experience will help you.

I have the same question here, can someone with more experience or with the actual device H930G confirm this?
Since H930 models are only 64gb variants, I wonder if their firmware will work with H930G V30+ 128GB.
Thank you!
I have the same question. Has someone tried to flash the H930 firmware on a H930G (version with 128 GB)

LG G5 weird fact

Hello guys!
I recently found out that my G5's IMEI links my phone to Israel. The weird thing is that my G5 is a H850 model, the EU one. So, if I would flash the EU H850 oreo update would it work on my phone or would i just brick it?
P.S: I'm in Romania
Hi, i have the same H850 with the IMEI registered on Israel, i'm using a kdz from UK and it's perfectly working, so don't worry; I didn't checked the Oreo rom but i think it's gonna work without dobut.
Mine seems to be linked with Switzerland. When I flashed Oreo it asked me on start-up if I wanted to use Switzerland region and I selected "no-'other'. I didn't understand why it was asking me that but as you say OP maybe the IMEI is linked with Switzerland. I bought the fone second hand so I don't know where it was bought originally. Anyway I don't see any issue since I flashed yesterday.

LG v30+ stock firmware with VoLTE ?

Hi,
I have an LG V30 plus - H930DS, wich had V20f-SEA-XX on it. In the "secret menu" I had the option for VoLTE and VoWifi, but they did not work. I tryed to use the Indian firmware V20b, but after flashing, the version on my phone was V20b-GLOBAL-COM. In the "secret menu" the VoLTE options was gone. Tryed to unlock the bootloader, but the phone did not pair with adb - god knows why ... Now I'm on a firmware - CIS from lg-firmware, but my phones shows V20f-GLOBAL-COM.
What firmware should I flash so I can have VoLTE - I live in Romania, and my provider is Orange (wich offers VoLTE) ?
Thanks !

You should check with the operator and see if Orange supports VoLTE on LG V30.

Thanks for the information! On Orange site the LG V30 is not supported, but I wanted to give it a try. They support only LG G7, LG Q7, Q6..
Can you suggest an kdz firmware for Europe ? If I flashed another kdz, I will still get update thru FOTA ? Or I must flash all the updates manually - with LGUP ..
Thanks !

You can also try EU H930. It's compatible with all H930DS, and in recent updates has shown VoLTE for India Jio -- so may show VoLTE for other regions too. I don't know, I'm just speculating about other regions beside India (ESA).
Use most recent EU H930 not older. If you want to unlock bootloader in future, you can temporarily downgrade later to do that.
There's also a project by @seadersn somewhere in the Guides section to force VoLTE on LG V30 where the provider doesn't officially support V30. Has worked for some people...
