I want to buy a new phone, I like xiaomi, I don't know which to buy, Redmi note 4 snapdragon, Redmi note 4 mtk, Redmi note 3 pro or Redmi 4 prime?? I would use it for regular apps(messenger, youtube, browsing) , some gaming (Hearthstone, clash royale, or anything), and for VR... I like modding, I like custom roms, but I want my phone to be futureproof, so, I want minimum nougat for it... I'm a music lover too, I love hard bass, and I want good headphone audio quality, I like slow mo camera, but I could live without it.. I'm not a selfie lover, so camera is not so important... Which would you choose??
Go for redmi note 4 sd
Does Redmi 4 Prime and Redmi Note 4X (should be almost the same as Redmi Note 4 in India with 625) have significant difference in battery life? Latter one has larger display, but both use same SoC and have same battery capacity, so how much of a difference in battery life should be expected?

Your last phone, what did you hate? What is the lack you regret the most? For me, its battery life...
So you choose redmi 3s or note 4x, for 4100 mah battery.
If you really want nougat out of the box, go for redmi 4 or note 4x, ask yourself what you really need...
I think you can buy latest redmi note 4x ,it's better
I just bought the redmi note 3 special (kate) with 3gb/32gb. It is faster than the note 4 especially for gaming, and has more hardware features. If you look up the specs, the note 3 is better in everything except battery life- which is still incredible, just a bit less incredible. The extra battery life has a cost though, read on.
The note 3 comes with MM but there are more custom roms for it than the note 4 which I expect will not ever sell as many units, unless Xiaomi discontinues the note 3.
It seems that the ppl recommending the note 4 have not looked at the actual specs or reviews of the 3 vs 4, I cannot explain why they would have given you that advice above. I almost made that same mistake, thinking that 4 is better than 3 (since it is a higher number and it is a newer device), but look it up for yourself. 3 is significantly better than 4 and if you travel outside China and India, the note 3 special (kate) is the way to go because of the extra antennas.
The only reasons you would go with the 4 is if you need nougat and will not install your own custom rom to get nougat on the note 3. Also, if the antennas in the 4 are exactly the ones you need and you will not travel. And, if you have a reason to need the extra battery life and are willing to accept the lower CPU and GPU performance. The clear winner is the note 3, which should be priced higher than the note 4- but it isnt!
Just saw the Redmi Note 4X black version at geekbuying for $189. I'd probably get that.

Hello everyone. I got a question about different xiaomi phones. So i am looking for new phone and at this moment the most impressive phones out there is xiaomi. Can you tell me please which one of these are the fastest with the best specifications not only on "paper" but when holding in hand as well. What i mean by that is some phones have pretty nice camera and cpu/gpu specs on paper but the camera in reality doesnt work so well and they are slow as hell after few months usage.
So i am looking into a phone under 300$:
Xiaomi mi4 (there is a lot of them, not sure which one is the best)
Xiaomi redmi note 3
Xiaomi redmi note 3 pro
If you got any other suggestion of the phones under 300$ feel free to post. Also do you know any legit sellers who sell in europe? thanks
get the Note 3 pro i.e. snapdragon variant, its the best of the lot that you have mentioned.
The difference between all those different models, if you ignore all their difference names (MI4, Redmi, Redmi Note, Redmi Note Pro, etc...) are the chipsets that are in use.
The MI4 phones run on SD80X chipsets, like SD800 (original MI4) and SD808 for the MI4S.
The Redmi series in general tries to be budget wherever possible, so most of them run on Mediatek (crap) chipsets, except for the indian / international variants of the series, as Xiaomi has been hit with a Mediatek chipset ban in india, forcing them to go with the slightly more expensive (but way better) Snapdragon mid-end chipsets.
Which brings us to the so called "Pro" variants of the Redmi series, those are essentially the indian / international market variants I've talked about.
Summed up they run on whatever the current mid-end Snapdragon chipset is, which makes the current iteration (Redmi Note 3 Pro) run on a SD650.
Performance wise, the SD820 is the king of the hill right now (MI5), directly followed by the SD650 and right behind it the SD810 and behind that the SD808.
So if you want the best bang for your buck, the Redmi Note 3 Pro is currently your best bet in raw performance and battery runtime.
For me there were 3 important things before I bought my first xiaomi phone a week ago. Sdcard slot, good specs and a low price.
Many xiaomi phones don't have a sdcard slot, so take a look on that. Redmi note 3 pro does have one.
2nd thing is the mediatek processor. I somehow don't trust them yet and since I wanted something more powerful than my old z2 I saw this nice benchmark in antutu of snapdragon 650 which convinced me.
One important thing before you buy any miui device. I recommend you to buy a pretty new one, at least one that comes with lollipop (updates may never come) and with 3gb of ram. 2gb of ram is really not much for a miui rom.
I bought my phone from xiaomiforsale, 5 days delivery (to Poland from Czech).
Sent from my Redmi Note 3 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Thank you all for your opinion, going to order an redmi note 3 pro by the end of the week
I'm looking forward to buy redmi note 3 pro has a great performance and longer battry i recommended it

+1. Just got my Redmi Note 3 delivered today and it is indeed best and full value for money
Hello. I currently have redmi note 2 and I want to sell it to buy redmi note 3 SD. But I heard so many bad things about it's camera. I want to know if its quality is worse than redmi note 2. And if yes, how much.
Thanks.
Between Rn3 and Redmi 2 (not note), I feel Redmi 2 camera is better.

Honest opinion bro..
Dont buy, because redmi note 2 is also a good device. ( same camera result and day to day activities).
If you want to go for higher model (20000rs) ,then its good to sell.
But its not wise choice to change RN2 to RN3.
Better you wait more 6 months, and you will have many new options.
Take note that I love RN3, but i gave my opinion as you asked.
Thanks for answers. I'm just sick of mediatek! That's why I wanted to buy RN3 but I might wait...
Hey bro you are not right.redmi note 3 have 16 megapixel back camera while redmi note 2 have only 8 megapixel rear camera so the difference is that redmi note 3 camera quality is awesome than redmi note 2 and yaa also RN3 has finger print sensor ,it is slim, metal body and man believe man it's 4000mah battery life is amazing.
I made the same upgrade you want to do: redmi note 2 since September 2015... Redmi note 3 Snapdragon since March 2016.
My answer to you is a question: are you satisfied with Redmi Note 2 battery life?
If yes, then don't sell your phone. The upgrade is not in the camera department.
(imho both cameras are disappointing, same level... very low level... like a "good" 8 Megapixel can beat either Redmi Note 2 and RN3 SD)
If you want more battery life, then go buy the Redmi Note 3 Pro. The upgrade is incredible.
Same use (almost all 3G, 5% of the time in Wifi) with Note 2 It was very hard to reach 4 hours of SOT. With RN3 Pro I get 8 hours very easy, and sometimes even 9-10 hours of SOT.
So, no: for the camera performance it's not worth it. But for the rest, it is.
tq for those review, yep i think want to upgrade reno2 to reno3pro,
Reason want buy reno3pro 1st : battery life so tired, 2nd : feel mediatek version not getting marshmallow, looks like getting old android later, miui8 = 5.0.1 lolipop? huh..
3rd : fingerprint, 4th : Battery 4000Mah, 5th : looks like in cm got cm13 (marshmallow, With it not in reno2)
I wanted to upgrade because of
1. Battery
2. Metal body
3. Fingerprint scanner
4. Newer Android version and more custom roms
5. Mediatek cpu and powervr gpu had some compatibility issues.
If the camera is same level, so I'm OK with it. Thanks for replies.

Honestly I believe RN3pro camera is better. I have seen people complain about camera quality. If you really want good camera performance, use those camera apps that provides lots of manual settings. The default auto values in stock camera app are just meant for basic tasks. So for better picture quality, all you need to do is adjust the setting as per the surrounding. Set desired exposure levels, brightness, sharpness and so on...
Believe me, you will see a dramatic change in your photography.
In Well Lit conditions Camera Quality is great, Low light it struggles, RN3 uses Samsung s5k3p3 Image sensor which is good definitely better camera than Note 2,some pics took by me..

Hi,
Thinking of getting either of these phones which would better? Thanks
Brand new xiaomi redmi note 3 Snapdragon version or Used Samsung Note 4 Snapdragon/exynos version
Without any doubt, go for RN3 Pro. With SD650 it's a beast. Also, as far as I know, there wouldn't be any official OTA updates from Samsung for Note 4. While Xiaomi will keep updating RN3 with latest MIUI for atleast 3 more years! So, your choice. What would you want - an abandoned Galaxy phone or a furure proof RN3. Not to mention the great development RN3 is having.
Depends on what you are looking for.
Samsung Note 4 has the slightly larger screen with more vivid colours, better cellular signal, replaceable battery, much better camera, S-Pen, and better overall GPU performance (for now, I don't know if Vulkan with the Adreno 510 will change that). It's pretty much stuck at Marshmallow and not even sure if it is getting security updates anymore as that is left to the carriers and most seem to have stopped doing that (in Canada at least).
Redmi has larger battery, better CPU performance, better fingerprint reader.
redmi better gpu !
So gaming performance redmi better?

How's the redmi vs Note 4 Exynos version?
Hey everyone,
I just broke my S8 and need a "cheap" phone for a year until my contract is due.
I'm looking at xiaomi but am a bit lost on all the options. Lets start by what i'd like to get
- Sub 250$
- Either Stock Android or a decent Stock Rom
Thats about it. Other than that, the cheaper the better, though I'll pay for a decent display and RAM. Storage is secondary as is Batterylife.
So, Redmi Note 5, The Normal Redmi 6, Mi A2 or wait for the A2 Lite (when does that release anyways?) Or would you recommend looking at another Brand entirely?
Any input to help me decide is highly appreciated!
Redmi 6 has a mediatek processor, it´s 5,45" and a battery of 3.000mAH.
Mi A2 comes with a better processor SD 660, same size than Redmi Note 5 but a battery of 3.010mAH.
This device comes with a battery of 4.000mAH.
Redmi Note 5 with processor SD 636 (whyred) it´s the best option (for a minimal difference compared with this)
This forum it´s about Redmi 5 Plus (vince) that it could be confused with the other version but this device comes with SD 625 and other few differences. Both have a good hardware combined with a good software so you will have a good experience with any of both for less money.
Vince (Redmi 5 Plus/Note 5), and Whyred (Redmi Note 5 Pro) are decent, and have decent cameras.
Mido (Redmi Note 4X) is also decent, and is more mature in terms of stable custom ROM support - however, whether you get a good or dodgy camera sensor is pot luck. If you are into MIUI, then they are all equally well supported. I have both mido and vince. I prefer vince for the camera, and mido for everything else (especially custom ROM support).
If I were to choose again, it would have to be by the toss of a coin. So, I personally would get whichever of them I can find at the cheapest price (for the same specs). However, I would avoid the 3GB/16GB mido, even if storage is not a priority. I would also avoid any Xiaomi that has a Mediatek SoC (like the plague!).
The A2 or Redmi Note 5 Pro.
The A2 has Android One, Oreo and a better Snapdragon Chipset (660)/Adreno 512 but no MicroSD, no headphone jack and a 3000mAh (QC4) battery. It also has Type C and will get Android Pie.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro packs a 4000mAh (QC2) battery, jack, MicroSD and no type C. You'll get the slower Snapdragon 636/Adreno 509 instead though and it comes with Nougat instead of Oreo.

You might want to research screen quality on both handsets. I read above that the Mi A2 has a dim display but this could be the above reviewer comparing it to higher-end displays.

Note 5 pro comes with Oreo.
Note 5 Indian (redmi 5 plus) is the one that comes with nougat.
I know, on paper, its no contest, But I am trying to decide between Redmi Note 8 and Poco F1. The difference between them is only £40
These are the important factors for me, the first 4 are must haves.
Good Battery life
Good Custom ROM support (now and future)
Headphone socket
SD Card
Notification LED
Reasonable Screen
Reasonable performance, (no gaming and was content with Redmi 5 Pro 4Gb Snapdrgon 636 until it broke)
I know the Poco F1 is much higher spec, but I dont really like the look (ugly cut out at the top and big bezel at the bottom). Plus because Redmi 8 is newer, I thought maybe better support for custom roms, in the future.
What do you think ?
I just bought my mum a Redmi note 8. Gotta say, it's a really nice phone for the price. She loves it
The F1 beats it pretty much all round though - note 8 has (arguably) slightly better battery life, the ir blaster is a nice gimmick and you can get an NFC version of the note 8 (a feature which I really miss), though that one doesn't have a notification light
I'd suggest you wait a couple of months for the note 9, but I suspect you'd still be better getting an F1!
The Poco F1 wins on nearly every spec. CPU,Graphics, BT, Memory, etc. The only problem with it, is that huge notch, large chin and bezels scream 2018 (in my mind).
Thanks for letting me know about the Redmi Note 9, seems like its imminent
My fear is that all Redmi phones will follow the Redmit 8 pro and have a mediatek chipset, rumoured below. That will kill chance of custom roms,. noones interested developing for Mediatek,

That's true, that the note 8 pro has a mediatek soc, but it's supposed to be very good. If rooting is your thing (used to be mine but I just don't have time these days - plus I can live with MIUI on my f1)
Still it will be outperformed by the F1, plus the RN 8pro will likely cost a good bit more than the F1
The F1 is not likely to get more first party firmware upgrades though. If rooting is your thing, get an f1 and have fun for as long as the battery lasts (the specs should hold up for 3 or 4 years)
Or save up and get the F2 when it launches (assuming it's not a turkey)
I usually always go for function over looks. Just abit background, it was my Redmi Note 5 pro *(Whyred) which recently died on me. Its a 636 Chipset and had 4Gb of RAM. And for me, I had zero performance issues with it for 18 months. I guess I am a light user. Thats why, on balance the Redmi 8 might be better for me (looks etc).
Just a quick one, no definites of course, but the Redmi note 9 seems imminent ? i.e March ish ?
I do get what you are saying about custom roms and time. However, I dont mind,

Poco X2 would be a great choice for you.:good:
Redmi note8 pro is on MediaTek Gaming chip! with more Ram,
both are on LCD
however poco has advantage of many Custom roms! kernels etc where i don't think with note 8 pro you will enjoy this !
check xda forums for note 8 pro for custom roms and kernel status!
Kcal is must on lcd to to fix color saturation!
