Hey guys. I can't figure out why this doesn't work.
I created a boot animation, which as far as I can tell follows the rules.
I uploaded it as bootanimation.zip to /system/media and it doesn't work. It shows me some odd boot animation with the text "android" in white in the middle of the screen instead. I have no idea as of what I'm doing wrong. I have a ZTE Axon 7 (A2017G). I verified that the file is located in /system/media and that it is in fact the same file I uploaded.

I don't know why it shows a different animation. Maybe there's a "backup" somewhere.
Anyway, did you use store option when making the zip? Compressed zip's won't work.
Edit: I unpacked the zip and repacked with store. It got 1.5Mb bigger so you probably used compressed zip.

That's odd, I did use store... It's still 18MB even if I do it again.

What am I doing wrong here?
EDIT: How did it get bigger than 18MB? The size of the original files altogether is 18MB...
I downloaded the zip, unpacked and repacked using peazip and it got size around 19.5 Mb. That made me thing you didn't use store..but you did. Really strange!

I don't understand how this is possible.
I'm using WinRAR and the files before compression were 18.0MB. After compression the ZIP is also 18.0MB. How is it possible that for you it gets bigger by 1.5MB if the original files weren't that big?
I'll try peazip.
EDIT: Same results with peazip. That's really odd. Any chance you could send me your ZIP file? Or even better, confirm that my bootanimation works on your device?
Totally strange we get different result with the same zip and software [emoji14] I have no idea why.
Yeah I can send you the file when I get home later today. What resolution is it made for?
My phone is 1280x720.
Here's the file A2017G edited boot animation_new.zip
I also made one for testing, with changed desc.txt to match my screen and it worked fine on my samsung.

This was made for the Alpha CM7 competition. It is the Nyan Cat from nyan.cat, not the original pop tart cat. Everything in this boot animation was build from scratch on Flash CS5.5 EXCEPT the NyanCat.gif from the website (not including the rainbow) So the rainbow and stars were rebuilt, hope I did a good job!
If you see anything you don't like about it or something you want to change, tell me. If you don't want sound then delete the "audio" folder in (EDIT) 7-zip, even if set to store, winrar somehow messes it up, and it's just black screen. Took me a while to figure that out.

Ok, have all of my files extracted into a folder. Change out the mp3, highlite all of the files and use 7zip to create a new archive. Set compression method to store. You should be good to flash it with cwm.

Yea no problem. I had countless problems while creating it and even when I set it to store I was using winrar and for some reason winrar didn't work and I would just see a black bootup.
Edited!: Added the stock AT&T and LG, (4.1.2 JB) bootanimation.zip
Here are some boot animations i customized. These are by other people, I just inverted, reversed, and edited the images. Ignore the last frame, saying made by animated gif creater, that is just the website i made the gif previews with, it is not on the .zip file.
Previews:
The first one is the black-bootanimation.zip, the second one is the white-bootanimation.zip.

DO NOT FLASH THESE .ZIP FILES!
OPTIONAL -- If you do not know how to use root browser to change the bootanimation.zip file in /system/media then download Boot Animation Factory [here]. (Credits to despotovski01) When its finished downloading, click preview, then click the green downward-pointing arrow, it says flash to phone. Select the .zip file and check "wait for device" and "reboot after flashing" then hit start, and tada.
If you already know how to move the file to the /system/media, then just download one of my .zip files. Be sure to rename them to bootanimation.zip, and name your originals to bootanimation.bak
Downloads
white-bootanimation.zip
black-bootanimation.zip
STOCK-AT&T & LG bootanimation.zip
Let me know if there is some errors, and just for your information, the .gif images are kinda sketchy, and they are not the 100% quality of the bootanimation. The .gif is also a little quicker than the bootanimation. If you have request, or if you find a broken link/image preview, post a reply
Thanks yall, i'd love to hear your thoughts on these as well.
I realize this post is in the incorrect forum, and I've requested for it to be moved. (As im not sure how to move it, if i even can.)
As i said before, the .GIF previews above are sketchy, and low quality. I see there is a slight glitch in the .GIF on the LG frame, this is only on the previews, not the actual .zip files, so dont be alarmed.
:victory:
Allow me to provide you with that assistance....you require. Thanks.
Thanks

Have they been fixed? I still get an missing file error.
I was up all night making this for my phone and thought I would share it. 1920x1080, I had a hell of a time getting it down to the size it is now and I still thinks its a little large, but it doesn't create any lag and the animation is smooth.
Unrar and copy to your sd card and then copy into system/media, be sure to rename the original boot animation before you copy over the new one.
this is just 20 frames of the animation.

Has anybody had any luck changing the Boot Animation on their One max? Ive tried manually and through the use of 3rd party installer, but no matter what, the default Boot Animation always loads. I was curious to know if anybody else has been able to do it

unlock bootloader and flash. works for me. i had a bad flash, rewrote boot.img. all worked fine.
Maybe we should clarify here. are you referring to the bootloader.img or the Boot Animation on startup of the Stock Rom?

No... not bootloader.img... bootanimation.zip
My apologies Gentlemen. I just realized my thread title was misleading.
looking at your Avitar, that is understandable..
I know sprint use spcs_startup_animation.zip and htc_downanimation.zip or you can change the file name line in these xml files to just bootanimation.zip and downanimation.zip and any of them will just use boot and down animation.zip

Yea thanks, I figured there was a step I might have been missing. I went as far as to rename bootanimation.zip to htc_downanimation.zip but the rename alone didn't have any effect. I will try editing the xml files.

MODIFIED TWRP IMAGES FOR TITAN!Yeah, that's it. I was thinking about making twrp images for our device with every single color which you can found in this nice thread. Yes, I know that we can put the theme in /TWRP/theme/. But, why don't get rid of that annoying folder, make the change permanent, and most of all, share knowledge? That's what I'm going to do by making even easier the above guide, plus I'll be uploading modified twrp images (when I got time) ready to flash.
We need:
TWRP Image for titan.
Android Kitchen 2.4 for Windows. It's in the attachments section.
Uncompressed themes. You can choose your fav color there.
Patience and common sense.
1. Uncompress the Android Kitchen zip in your desktop (or any other folder), and download your favorite theme color. Uncompress it too.
2. Put the twrp image which you previously downloaded in the Android Kitchen folder (in the same folder where are the .bat files and so on).
3. Drag the image file to the "unpackimg.bat". There'll be a folder called ramdisk afterwards.
4. Go to ramdisk/twres/, and keep it open in a window. Remember the uncompressed theme folder from the first point? Well, open the uncompressed folder and move this: "images", "portrait.xml", "splash.xml", "ui.xml" to /ramdisk/twres. If windows asks if you want to move and replace these files, hit yes to everything.
5. Go back to the Android Kitchen Folder and click repackimg.bat; wait, and voilá, there'll be a new-image.img. Flash it from fastboot or from twrp itself (remember to check the "recovery" box). Click in "Reboot Recovery" to see how your twrp looks now.
That's all!
Images below are only for titan, not for thea/osprey/falcon. Just click the color, download and flash! They're ready to be flashed.

1. Drag the .img to the unpackimg.bat
2. A new folder (ramdisk) will be created afterwards in the same directory.
