Hi guys, I am new to this rooting thing and android/samsung in general. I bought this Galaxy S5 as a gift for a relative in Vietnam because she is paying about $200 total in monthly payments for a Galaxy S3. I have tried searching the forums too but I can't find the answers I am looking for.
It is model SM-G900T Android 6.0.1
I can go into download mode and all that but the root files I have (ODIN)don't work, it just goes back to the "recovery is not seandroid enforcing" screen.
I think my root failed because I was watching tutorials on how to root it from like a year ago. I am trying to get a language pack for this phone so I can change it to Vietnamese. Can anyone link me the proper procedures and download links? I'll pay you like $20 in paypal if it works... Please assist, thanks!
Pull the Back of the Phone off, Remove the battery Verify you have a SM-G900T and not a G900T1 or G900T3. Look at the battery to see if it was Made in China too (as a precaution)
You need to Go back to the Stock ROM of the phone, Get Odin Version 3.11.1, ff you don't have the samsung driver already, get it, then get the Android Version you had-What ever baseband it was before you goofed it up. Put the Phone into download mode -Press and Hold Volume Down, Home Button, and then Press and Hold Power until you see the the Download option, then hit install ROM, Hook Phone Up to a computer and then Run Odin and select the ROM on the AP button
once that is done,
follow these directions to the T
https://forum.xda-developers.com/tm...l/root-how-to-root-sm-g900t-firmware-t3358190
.
You will need to do a carrier unlock to the phone to work in other countries since this phone is designed to work in the US only.
By the way we are not accepting any money here, this forum is free so the help is too.

Hey bro, is there a way to see which baseband I have if I cant check it on my device? If I can't, is it possible to try every stock rom until I get the correct one or will I just mess it up more?

since your phone is goofed up, I would verify if you have a SM-G900T or G900T1, etc go to sammobile.com and enter SM-G900T, T1 etc which ever phone you have, just grab a 4.4.2 Version, enter download mode and open up ODIN

Hello, sorry If I am being bothersome but I did what you told me. The phone boots now but it's stuck at the "T-Mobile 4G LTE" screen (screen before it goes into the lock/swipe screen). How long should it stay there?

if it doesnt boot up in 15 minutes, put the phone into stock recovery by shutting off the phone, press and hold the volume up key, home key and power key until it says recovery, once there wipe the cache and also do a factory reset.
then the phone should boot, leave it be at that point

Hi,
###Feel free to skip this part:[For starters, i want to give a very brief introduction of myself, as a new member of this board. I'm a soon to be language teacher in Germany. I often choose Usernames with "Hank" in it, as i used to be a Turbonegro Fan in my Teens and still like'em. I got to know this forum from former Problems with my old phone, my Motorola MS. I know signed up due to problems my girlfriend has with her phone, i wasn't able to find solutions without asking som questions]#####
last night, my batterie died, so i charged it and then thought of turning on my Ace, nothing bad in mind...
But then it just stuck when the "Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830" Screen appeared.
So i started researching some Android/Samsung Forums and the first thing i tried is to "reset" it by pushing "Home + Power" Buttons simultaneously. Didn't work. Same Screen as mentioned above appears and stays.
The next thing i found was "Vol. Down + Home + Power" - now i got a screen that says "Downloading..." in little yellow letters. I was happy first but unfortunately nothing happend after that.
It's a new phone, so there's still waranty and i might have to send it to Samsung. Maybe someone here knows a method i might try where i wont lose the waranty.
But either way i'm curios how this might have happened!? I didn't try any flashing or modding, because it's my girlfriends phone and she's more than satisfied with it's functions!?
try to go to recovery and wipe everything
or flash cwm recovery and flash roms
or go to download mode the downloading signs
and use odin to flash stock firmware
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda premium
thanks for your quick answer....
there's no way i can enter recovery mode. It's Power + Home for several seconds, isn't it?
Flashing sth leads to loss of warranty, right? I think that's too risky due to my knowledge...
Do you have an idea hwo this could have happened?
Obviously he on stock rom with stock kernel, maybe even no root
So I'm gonna suggest a simplest way.
Boot into recovery (hold home+power button simultaneously) and when it do go into recovery, just do reset to factory. I can't remember correctly what the exact menu because only got experience with stock recovery for a hour or so
Btw navigate up/down via volume up/down button and make selection with home button. Good luck

Yeah, i tried that, but I just can't enter recovery mode. It just starts to the "Samsung Galaxy Ace...) screen and freezes there, even if i start with the button-combination.

But Download Mode works for you . (Home + Power + Vol Down)
You're going to have to flash a firmware via ODIN .
Follow my newbie guide on how to flash something via ODIN .
Be sure to download a full package ROM
Herpderp Defy.
So do u still remember what android version and from what region the stock rom is? As u stated that u still can access download mode, just download the same firmware from sammobiles.com and flash it via Odin.

...but i've seen two different pic's that show DL-Mode. One looks like what i see on my phone: Black screen, yellow letters saying "Downloading....".
The other one is a black screen with white letters saying "MDL something something" this screen, i don't get on my phone!?
Is the first screen fine or is do i have to get to the second one!? (Because i don't)
Will the warranty get lost, when i do that?

First one is correct
Herpderp Defy.
From what country and operator is your phone?
So we can suggest a rom for you to flash!
If you do this yor warranty will not be voided! (hopefully :b)
I wouldn't worry about the warranty too much.
It all sounds scary but when you've done it a couple of times you'll notice It's not so big of a thing.
Just always take your time and read up on things before you start doing stuff.
Hello everyone.
My friend brought me a Samsung Galaxy s 2 gt i 9100m, iit has the unlock password on it. What the password is we dont know.
When i get to the bootloader mode (power+vol down) i have the follolwing on the screen:
---------------
ODIN MODE
Product name: GT-i9100M
Custom binary download: NO
Current binary: SAMSUNG OFFICIAL
Android logo
Downloading...
Do not turn off target!!!
---------------
Even though i am computer literate i am not really smart phone literate. I havent tinkered with smartphones even though i have 2 androids myself.
I looked around on the web here and there but all i can find is bits and pieces.
As of now i downloaded
Odin3-v1-1.85
cm-9-20120420-ODIN-galaxys2.tar.tar
cm-9-20120609-NIGHTLY-galaxys2.zip that has
META-INF folder
system folder
boot.img
Bottom line, what do i do with it now.
I want to wipe it clean, make it usable again. and since i have to go through all of that might as well root it and install ICS on it.
What i am looking for here is step-by-step instructions at "i am the dummy level".
Or, if community here preferrs to teach instead of telling my what to do - few links to good threads...
Or both... i am good with both and if i do it once myself when someone tells me what to do i will remember for the next time.
Thanks!!!

Hi, i think that first you should try to aaces the phone and after that think of ICS. To erase all user data go into recovery mode, that way you don't have to flash your phone. To go into recovert simply turn off your phone and hold (vol. up + home + power) until it boots into recovery, there use the volume buttons to move up and down.
Once there select wipe data/factory reset you can select it by pressing the power button. Then confirm the action and once it's done press reboot now.
Your phone will now start with no password.
If you want to install a custom rom just let me know and i'll guide you through it.
Cheers

Go to www.sammobile.com and download your stock firmware. Put phone in download mode, flash through odin. I think that should get rid of the password.

My phone is an S3 i9300. Some weeks ago I installed an XXUGMK6 Android 4.3 version. At that time I was directed to an East European site (Russian?) which had one of the first releases. Everything have worked ok until I decided to try another ROM (Slimrom). I enabled USB debugging and tried to restart the phone in download mode (Power+Home+volume down buttons) to start the rooting process. I arrive at a screen saying:
Warning!!
A custom OS can cause critical problems in phone and installed applications.
If you want to download a custom OS, press the volume up key.
Otherwise, press the volume down key to cancel.
If I press the volume up key it apparantly starts downloading (text on screen: Downloading. Don't switch off your Phone). Nothing more happens even after almost 3 hours, and I have to force restart the phone.
I have tried to factory reset the phone, but it is still impossible to past the Warning!! screen.
Any suggestions on how to solve the problem are much appreciated.

Sorry litttle confused by your post
First thing first you do not need to root your phone to install a custom rom they come already rooted...Second thing you do not install custom roms in download mode you flash them via a custom recovery such as PhilZ recovery,Twrp or Cwm recovery.
Are you saying you are stuck in download mode? If so did you pull the battery?
Op is missing most of the basic knowledge from sticky thread in general forum, suggest he go read all the posts before doing anything else.

Thank you for such a prompt replay. Sorry for the double posting. You probably already guessed that I am a little confused, too.
Well, my chain of thoughts was that since I didn't have a custom recovery installed, I had to boot in download mode to install it with Odin. Then I planned to boot to recovery to flash the SlimKat ROM.
I am now embarrassed to realize that when I arrived at the "Downloading... Don't switch off your Phone" screen, and didn't know how to proceed, the phone was, in fact, in download mode. I didn't notice the very small, red letters in the upper left corner saying "Odin mode". Things are a lot clearer to me now, and I have successfully flashed the ROM. I hope you are a little bit less confused, too.
Could I spend just a little more of your time? The reason for using the SlimKat ROM was to speed up the rather laggy Galaxy i9300. Do you have an idea which ROM would serve that purpose best?

Glad you sorted it .Like @boomboomer said try to do a little bit more research before attempting any sort of software change on your phone one little mistake can turn into a big problem.
Unfortunately I can't give any advice on which rom is fastest/best because that kind of post is not allowed on Xda and they will close the thread..Only thing I can suggest is read the user reports in the different rom threads and basically try them out because each user as a different opinion on each rom..Good luck.
Hey guys, let me just get straight to the problem i'm having yesterday my friend download an app on my phone called (KING ROOT)
he used it on his s3 and my brother used it on his s6 (not edge) and it worked smoothly for them.. however when he started to root my phone using this app it got to 71-75% and the phone went off and on and got stuck at the sumsung logo with these words on the top in red (KEANEL IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING)
now i can't go into odin mode i can't do nothing it just freezes like that until the battery turns off.. and when i press and hold the volume button with the home button it shuts down and in 1 or 2 seconds it goes back to the freezing logo screen with the RED words i mentioned.. an please note that my s6 edge is getting super hot so i'm placing it in front of my fan till the battery shuts down.
Please help ASAP my fellow andriod users.
I have sort of the same problem, I was able to do root my phone, but then I went into settings, then Unroot. After this process my phone started to restart by itself every couple of minutes. I turned it off and tried to turn it back on, then It was just stuck on the T-Mobile logo. Ive tried using Odin, but I get a Fail. I tried with Odin 3.10.7 and TTMB1AOCG_G925TUVU1AOCG_HOME.tar.md5 Please let me know If I am doing something wrong.

I honestly have no idea buddy..
because i searched the internet upside down and i didn't find any problem like mine..
So i went to a place where they fix phones.. and they told me there's still hope that we can fix your phone... he told me he'll continue the root and when i asked why did this happen he said probably a missing file !!
so the continuing of the root will hopefully fix it.. it will cost me 30$
so i advice you to do the same thing bro seek a professional. :good:
If your not comfortable doing it yourself then pay someone else. (And dont mess with your phone in the first place) did you check kingroot works with your phones' software version?
Otherwise try download mode holding power + home + vol down and emergency restore with smart switch.
Excuse me ? Are you giving me lessons here ? If you know what should be done then tell me if not don't talk at all... Plus if you actually read what i wrote you would know that download mode isn't available. Keep your comments to yourself man.
You can go into download mode by forcing the phone off by holding the power button and the home key for some seconds and immediately press the volume down button whiles the phone boots up automatically. This will take you to download mode
You guys just dont like to read what i wrote dont you ? I already said it... I can't go to download mode no matter what i do even pressing and holding the volume and the home button.

I don't want to be rude, but are you sure you can't get into odin mode, because i also had this problem a few months ago, and i could not get into recovery mode, however getting into odin mode was no problem. For a samsung device this is: Holding the start button, volume down and power on button. When you get into odin mode you need to flash the stock firmware and everything will be as it is. It is important to check with these one click apps like kingo root before you root, and also I believe with android 5.1.1. it is not possible anymore to use these apps and therefore need to flash a custom kernel in order to root. Hope this helps.

You need to clear cache on play store app then retry it. Or alternatively look on apkmirror and redownload the play store from there. It could be that you need to update it. After you get playstore back go ahead and re install chrome and browser. Its a good idea to back up your app data to google drive or another storage then when your re install your apps all data is recovered.
Hello,
I've purchased a Galaxy Tab S6 (SM-T865N) International version, mainly to use it with with 4G in US on Xfinity Mobile. I received the tablet, inserted the SIM card and it was working 'relatively' on the network. Every now & then I would get a message 'failed to register to network', but for the most part, mobile data is working.
Since it is a Korea version, certain things don't work. Nothing major, but I would like to make it perfect. Certain User update posts in the Galaxy store display in Korean Language, and the weather app is slightly limited, with the error 'not available outside of Korea'.
I did some searching and found other firmware available for this exact model on Sammobile. My country (US) is not supported, but I would like to try the UK firmware, if nothing else, to fix some of the language issues. I downloaded the UK firmware package and Odin (3.13 & 3.14.1). I installed the Samsung drivers. I booted the tablet into recovery by holding 'power & volume up' then connected it to the computer. Odin WILL NOT found the tablet. I rebooted into the normal OS and connected it and Odin then found it, but obviously that doesn't work. I can not get Odin to connect while in recovery.
Does anyone have suggestions on what might be happening?
And maybe all this effort isn't worth it either, hard telling whether it'll work better or worse with the UK firmware on it. Any tips?
It's been several years since I did this sort of thing, so I'm a little rusty. I thought this would be a simple procedure.
it sounds to me like you are not putting it into download / Odin mode, but I could be wrong. I haven't tried to use Odin on this tablet yet, but was actually about to do this same thing as well, as my device has an origin CSC of singapore, and hasn't had an official update in almost 2 months, so I was going to flash the UK version as well.
---------- Post added at 07:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:51 PM ----------
So I just tested it on my tablet, here is what you need to do:
Power off the device
Press and hold the Volume up button and then press and hold the power button
When you see the initial boot screen, release the power button, but keep holding volume button
When you get to the recovery screen, you need to use the volume up / down buttons to highlight the option that has "bootloader" in the title, and press the power button to select it.
Then you should see a screen that says "Download" or something like that.
Plug in USB, and Odin should see the device.
Yeah, you're booting into recovery, you need to boot into Download mode - Hold both volume up and down whilst inserting the USB-C cable to enter Download mode.
Your correct

Your Correct. Device needs to be plugged into the pc for it to boot to the screen that shows all the info. I wonder why they made this a requirement. Its very unintuitive. I also didn't see it documented anywhere. How did you find out about this ? Thanks again for the help!

IF you mean did I succeed in flashing it through Odin then yes BUT unfortunately I couldn't get it to reboot correctly & it takes a lot of time trying to reboot but still no luck. How can this be even possible IF I still can get it to connect to Odin and download the firmware successfully BUT no luck in getting it to reboot correctly!!

Have you tried reflashing the old firmware of your country? Weird that its not working.
I did try that and managed to flash it successfully to the old firmware using Odin but unfortunately I still couldn't get it past a full reboot as it got stuck after a long time and it takes me to the Android System Recovery screen wherein also tried to 'wipe cache partition.’ and try reboot again but I still end up with the recovery screen!

Can't you put in a warranty claim ? Here where i am based i had a new battery, and new screen installed from samsung! this was a Galaxy S8+ was well over 2 years old they did it for free! New screen and new battery! My Note 9 is going this monday for a new battery my Tab S6 works flawlessly so don't need to send that in! but i'm sure if you ring up Samsung they will replace the motherboard for free as it's not even 12 months old!
