Auto Hiding Navigation Bar on Huawei Ascend XT H1611. - Huawei Ascend XT Guides, News, & Discussion

Picture 1
Picture 2
Picture 3
Step 1:
Find a Navigation App that you like.
I am using Simple Control(Navigation bar)
Set up the app to your liking.
Before doing the next step make sure the app is working to your liking. Reboot and test the app.
Step 2:
(Again make sure the app is working after this step you will no longer have the stock navigation bar)
With a rooted File Manger (I am using ES FIle Manger with Root checked) go into /system
Find build.prop at the bottom (Picture)
Edit build.prop
Add " qemu.hw.mainkeys = 1 " at the bottom (Picture)
Now reboot and you are done.
Now you have a auto hiding navigation bar.
If you break something I am not responsible for the damage.

This is good! Didn't really care for the option to auto goody the nav bar.
This is another good nav bar replacement!

Status Bar Hack for Nookie-Froyo Updated: 4/10

This package places the status bar on the bottom, add soft buttons to the status bar and remaps home button to toggle the status bar on and off for applications that don't normally display the status bar.
I would like to thank rookie1 for the buttons on the status bar and Samuelhalff for help moving the status bar to the bottom and the notification button.
Version 4-10-11
Changed home button back to the defaults
Created a separate app for toggling the status bar called Status Bar Toggle. This app will allow you to toggle the status bar by just tapping the app once or by clicking on the notification.
Removed the status bar service feature from Nookie-Froyo Utils. It is in the new app.
Added QuickDesk app.
If you configure QuickDesk app to open with double click, then you can put the new app there to toggle status bar.
Version 4-7-11
Long press home button toggles the status bar
Renamed NookColorUtils to Nookie-Froyo Utils
Long press menu displays search
Added a service to Nookie-Froyo:
This service does not force the status bar to be displayed. To force the status bar to be displayed, long press the Home Button; long press again to turn the feature off. If you are in an application when you do this, the status bar will not be displayed until you exit the application and relaunch it. This service was added to overcome this limitation. When the service is running, a long press of the Home Button will cause the status bar to update by placing an icon on the status bar and sending an Ongoing notification to the notification window. The result is that the status bar will appear without requiring you to exit the application. This icon and notification will also serve as an indicator that the status bar is being forced to be displayed. Long press the Home Button again and the status bar will disappear in applications that do normally have the status bar."
Version 3-31-11
Cleaned up the icons
Change the height of the status bar to 32px
Fixed an issue to make the status bar display properly at 200 Density
NookColorUtils.apk 3-27-11 Version 0.2.0
I added a tab to force or not to force the Status Bar for Runtime
If you already have it installed, uninstall first.
adb install nookcolorutils.apk
I will add this to the next zip release
Version 3-27-11:
I've add the capability to force the status bar or not. Just add the following line to /system/build.prop not force the status bar
Code:
sys.force_status_bar=false
or to force the status bar to always show,
Code:
sys.force_status_bar=true
I will come up with a graphic app to do this in the near future. Until then, you will have to edit /system/build.prop manually.
Version 3-26-11:
Cleaned up the the top bar on the notification window by removing the grap handle
Long pressing home now behaves the same as long pressing the physical button
The buttons on the status bar now gives feedback (Orange glow)
The icons look kind of ugly. Does anyone want to take a crack at making some icon? Wretchedlocket? They need to be 42x28. Two icons per button. One normal and one for pressed (feedback).
Version 3-24-11:
Force status bar to be always present
Got rid of the weird flick up to bring the expanded status bar down
Brought the the buttons closer together.
Changed the order of the icons on the left (Thanks wretchedlocket, you saved me a lot of time trying to figure out what file determined the order of the icons.)
Version 3-23-11:
FC issue for the browser and the dolphin has been fixed! Network location is working again.
Got rid of the ugly buttons
Version 3-22-11:
Moved buttons to the right.
Expand status bar button now toggles.
In the works:
Push up brings the bar down. Needs to be fixed.
Make the status bar black.
Version 3-20-11:
Status Bar moved to the bottom.
Notification Bar expands up and collapses down.
Notification button added to the status bar.
In the works:
Push up brings the bar down. Needs to be fixed.
Make the status bar black.
Version 3-18-11:
Escape, Menu, and Home buttons on the left side of the status bar.
Messages and Icon are center vertically on the status bar.
Notification drop down full screen for all LCD densities.
Flashable version is for the eMMC. I don't have an SDCARD version yet. Look in the zip if you want to manually copy the files. Copy both /system/app and /system/framework.
Version 3-19-11:
Put in working Browser.apk. You will need to tap the address bar quickly then open another page, this wil give you time to set the homepage.

Great job! Works great, the size is perfect! Thank you.
Great work, but since installing to eemc last night i've had two cases where the touch-screen tap was not recognized (one in Angry Birds, one in TapaTalk), and the only way to cure it was a hard reboot using the power button. I could slide the screens but no taps were recognized on any screen (including the home screen) once it happened.
Never had this with the stock framework - I've turned OC down in case that was the reason.
In retrospect, I wish I had backed-up the existing framework files so that I could easily reinstall the stock framework should I ever decide to....

I've had no problem with Angry Birds, but I don't use TapaTalk. Which kernel are you using?
If it installed correctly - I'm using Daligrin's 2/25 for Froyo - I backed off from the 3/8 version when I was having wifi connect problems. I don't know how to confirm because I always get the same kernel version in settings, regardless of what I try to install:
2.6.29-omap1

Try clearing dalvik-cache and cache from CWR.
Thanks Brian - I've wiped 'em both.
Let's just keep an eye on it. I didn't mean to make a major issue here, after all it might not be related. I'll just call it one of life's little mysteries for now, and I'll holler again if it is a persistent problem.
Thanks again for the great work.
Great work on latest version. Any idea why both stock browser and dolphin both fc when you go to google homepage? Any work around? I can go to the browser address bar to search using google from there.

Good, I was just about to tell you about this thread in the other thread.
Brian, this is excellent! Really.
Awesome going to port to cm7?
Very nice work! Would you consider a version with the buttons on the right side of the status bar? I think its more intuitive for a right handed person to reach for buttons that are on the right side of the screen instead of crossing over the screen with their hand and blocking it.
brianf21, let me know when you get the browser fc fixed. People request this mod in my theme all the time and ask me about the browser FC
I think by the time we get done with all this stuff, we'll have made the Nook the way B&N should have
Great work so far. Good to see more development on this mod

Thanks for this! I have tired the other hacks but never got them to work. No problems at all with this one.
Well, one problem. How do I set another launcher instead f the default one? I tried clearing defaults in "Settings> Applications> Manage applications> All> Launcher" but "Clear defaults" is grayed out.
For now I am just putting my Zeam shortcut on the launcher home screen but I would like to set Zeam as default.
Thanks for this!

How to Hide the Grey Nav Bar on HAM2 Using Emotion UI Settings

Hi All,
It took me a while to figure out, but you can add an option to hide the grey nav bar on an unrooted HAM2 and make it reappear by swiping up. It is somewhat confusing because the nav bar setting is not available if you have your Emotion UI set to the Standard home screen style. You have to apply the "Simple" home screen style first, which is the one with the giant colored buttons for grandma to use.
After you apply the Simple home screen style, go back into settings, select More Settings and then scroll down to the bottom of the list. You will see a new option called "Navigation Bar" has been added. If you press this option you will see a toggle switch for "Hide Navigation Bar" along with some instructions on how to use it. Once you have toggled the switch to hide the navigation bar, you can revert back to the Standard Emotion UI and the setting will be retained.
After I hid the navigation bar I found some apps I had difficulty installing would start to work OK. For example, if you try to install NBA Jam without hiding the navigation bar, it will get hung on the initial splash screen. After I hid the navigation bar, NBA Jam would check for updates and then proceed to the game without any problem.
Hope this helps anyone having difficulty with the nav bar!

This is the Kitkat feature I missed the most. My main motivation to buy a HAM2 was to read novels in it, instead of carrying a smaller phone and a tablet. For that purpose, the screen is stunning, but that dammed gray navbar was always in the way. Not anymore!
Thank you so much for this tip. You made my day!
Wow, nice find!
Now I have a bit more room on this already huge display. Thanks! :good:

This option should be there regardless of what launcher u are using.. It's a standard feature in the settings.. No? I have a China version on 4.4.2.. No sure if there's a difference though..

WOW!!! Thanks so much for sharing this great find. It works GREAT!!!!!
Thanks given. This was the only reason I was rooted. Along with greenify. Now with the ability to hide the navbar and the ability to disable background apps included in the stock ROM, I really don't have any need for root. I still might use links2sd to install more apps if I hit that 6gb limit. This phone is solid!
Making the navigation bar hidden is called "immersive mode". There are apps on the Play Store that supposedly let you toggle immersive mode. Please post your results if you try one.
I'm guessing those apps will let you switch to immersive mode independent of standard or simple mode.

Any way to disable the Navigation Bar, Soft Keys, or On Screen Buttons in NOUGAT?

I can't live without LMT Launcher. With Marshmallow, Xposed modules can disable the navigation bar/soft keys/on screen buttons so LMT Launcher can be activated from the bottom. xposed is not available in Nougat yet. Is there another way to disable them in Nougat? I do have root.
Goto Settings-> Display -> Home touch buttons -> Hide Home touch buttons
Here you will get a list of apps, turn off for apps you need or all apps.
This only hides them.

This is great for hiding the nav bar, but doesn't really work with lmt Launcher. When you swipe from the bottom up, lmt doesn't appear. Instead the nav bar unhides. There's gotta to be a way to disable the Navigation bar completely with root. Anyone have any ideas?
The best way to hide the nav bar without Xposed in nougat is via rro layer theme. If your ROM supports rro layer themes you can install the theme from LMT's OP.
Edit build.prop in system qemu.hw.mainkeys=’, set to 0 (zero) to enable the onscreen / virtual softkeys. Set it to 1 (one) to disable them. Make sure Lmt or alternate nav system in place before reboot.
Works for me anyway

If you are rooted, this may be what you're looking for.. Just be careful as these devices are easily brickable.
Because of the way Huawei does their Android setup, you don't apply these changes to /system/build.prop but you apply to /vendor/build.prop instead.

XDA Navigation Gestures App

Hi, has anyone tried a new application by XDA? What are your thoughts?
Google Play link - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xda.nobar
my navigation bar does not hide...
I'm trying it right now. And it's not too bad. Only complaint is you can't change the transparency so that small bar will always be there. But you can change the size and make it really small so it won't be that noticeable.
So far, it seems like a good alternative to All in One Gestures. Will update on battery life later.

Works pretty well
It works pretty well for the most part, though on apps where they are black you can see a white line on the very bottom of the screen. Which is kinda annoying.

If you want hide the stock navigation bar, I find a workaround using immersive mode. You can enable it in nogaut too using an app called "SystemUI Tuner" and giving to it adb permission through a pc (so without root).
I don't like too much this gesture so i return to stock, but if you want this work.

Don't know why but it doesn't ask for root permission (needed in order to hide the navbar), so you need the adb commands, for the rest it works pretty well.

For hide the navbar you can switch the app proportion for the 18: 9 and set the permissions again. After this, turn off the gestures and turn on. If this not work, restart the phone. For me it works.

Hello, when i'm trying to grant permission i only get :"Operation not allowed: java.lang.SecurityException: grantRuntimePermission: Neither user 2000 nor current process has android.permission.GRANT_RUNTIME_PERMISSIONS." what can i do pls ?
I have the porblem that if I open an app lets say, Instagram or Armorfly Browser, the white line at the bottom just dissapears. Then I was swiping up from the bottom to try and get it back or at least the nav bar, after a few tries, the nav bar and the white line for the gestures were showing and dissapearing all the time, it was like they were having a fight for who will stay at the bottom of my screen haha
Does anybody know a fix for that?
Thanks
I'mf facing the following problem, the app is constantly loosing it's rights
