Firstly I must give the statutory warning that I am not responsible for - Bricking - Cracking - Banging - Smashing - Licking your device. All animations have been tested by me on my A2017U but this does not guarantee that they will work on your device.
All animations I post will be in flashable zip form so there is no need to sort out where to put it or what permissions to give it, all is taken care of by the zip file. One cautionary note, if you want to preserve the standard Axon animation then before flashing you must go into /system/media and change the name of the existing animation because otherwise the new one will overwrite it.
Each animation I post will be accompanied by a GIF file which will give you an idea of what the animation looks like, the names will be the same apart from the extension, this should make it easier see which is which.
Remember these are flashable zips to be flashed by your custom recovery i.e. TWRP.
One last caution, although I will only post animations I have successfully flashed to my own device this does not mean I am responsible if anything happens to yours. If people find them useful I will make more as and when I have the time.
Ok here is another one, the second Andy one. No need to repeat all the blah, blah, blah of the first post, it all still applies. Apart from new ones I make I will also be converting some I made for the Moto X Pure.
OK last one for now. Post #1 cautions apply.

Do you know if there are any limitations to these animations? Max and lowest resolution? Duration? DPI?
I see thats just a series of .jpegs so I can easily make something for myself.

@trasheris ... Thanks for the questions. I find that it is largely a matter of personal preference as to how you construct an animation.
Personally I find that size is generally my main consideration, I detest animations that exceed 5 Mbs in size, I feel that it's unnecessary to clog up a system with something that is only "window dressing". I'll try and give you my answers point by point.
1. Resolution depends on weighing clarity on one hand with size on the other.
2. Duration depends on the device. The A7 for example has the shortest time available to display of any device I have ever owned, so you have to make your animation duration fit your device. Remember the time is set by the device it's not going to wait to boot until your saga of an animation ends.
3. DPI has nothing to do with boot animations.
Get your series of jpg's use a graphics adjustment program to make them the size you need, use a graphics program to determine the resolution quality then build your animation.

Nice animations! Thank you. Pac-Man was one of my favorite games, next to Ms. Pac-Man.
@MiMtnBiker ... lol I used to like it myself. Thanks for your thanks.
@nujackk ... Re your request for Superman, as we both suspected I wasn't able to find anything really worth while but I did my best with the attached two, however I don't really like them.
EDIT note -- The "Super-1" gif is quite a bit darker than it is when it's applied to the device. On the device you can quite clearly see the faces.

Aah, I got it to work now. It was because I had installed substratum earlier, and even though I had uninstalled it, somehow the boot-animation wasn't getting overridden even after flashing these. Many thanks for these!

I have recently got into upgrading my ROM into custom ones, browsing the correct forum and I have found many which I like.
But nearly all of them appear to be for the 6.5x version (with the start button on the bottom left) and I have the original with the start button at the top.
Can I use those ROMs? Is there anybody still working on the old 6.5 ROMs?
Cheers
Ghost
Yes you can use these ROMs and yes there are still ROMs out there being made with the older more stable 6.5.
I suggest you start reading some of the sticky threads in the ROM section because there is plenty more you need to know before flashing.
Sorry, I should have made myself much clearer.
I have already installed one and have read as many stickies and posts as I can handle lol.
I have adjusted the title to suit.
What will happen if I install the ROMs made for the 6.5x?
Cheers
Oh, and appreciate the reply
Then you'll be running 6.5x.
You can run either, one is just more stable then the other. You do realize that a ROM is the entire OS right? It's not that it's just changing a few things on your current phones OS and that a ROM is built for a particular OS that is already on your phone. You are wiping it clean with a new OS each time you flash.

Yeah I am aware this is the case, slightly hazey, but aware....ha. Mostly in part to the knowledge on the forum. That is the main reason I asked the question, as I wanted to find the one that seems to have the options that best suite me and there seemed to be many working on the 6.5x, for which I was not entirely clear.
You gotta love n0obs!
Thanks for the replies.
It's all good.......don't mean to come off as an ass either so sorry if I did. Hope you find what you need worst case you just flash to another ROM and give it a whirl.
Try giving NRG's ROMs a try he has both styles.
NRG said:
* A 21911 Build which is the most reliable and bug free release. It has the Start menu button at the top left corner. This build uses the same stock system that came with your device. This is usually the fastest and most stable build, but it's also the least fancy
* A 23569 Build that's the latest in Microsoft's development with the Start menu button at the bottom left corner and big softkeys, making it all very "finger friendly". These builds are not as perfect, but they reflect the latest cutting edge technology from Microsoft. Most people choose this build... Why else would you install a custom ROM ? Although if you want to be cautious, start with the 21911 build first.

Hi All,
I have started using X10i a month or so back and so far have been flashing many ROMS and finally settled on CM6 mod by [Cyanogen6.1.3]gingerbread[v01] : by http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=1022236
However now i am moving to the next step which i thing would be to mod my own ROM. however after looking at the whole forum i was not able to find some straight forward startup guide for this.
can anyone help me on this.

Well, are you interested in modding the ROM in its core,
or applying modifications like themes, framework-res changes and tweaks?
Because if the latter is the case, it's quite easy.
You just open the ROM zip and tweak yourself away!
But if you actually want to build a ROM, then, as it has been already said,
it is not easy.

and you have shown that you are incapable of spelling. Its called karma. You give an attitude, expect one back. So he wants to learn, there is no need to bash somebody for it.
So since there's only about 5 or 6 custom ROM's at the moment I took the liberty of creating a quick site to compare the ROM's. I put them in a comparison table side-by-side, put a link to download them (off my own site [so this can be used as a mirror]) and put a link to my own personal thoughts/semi-informal review of each ROM and included screen-shots of the ROM (90% of it I took myself).
I wanted to share the link/site with you to see what you think. I'm going to try and stay on top of updates and such, and each page on the site has a way for you to leave a comment. So if you have any suggestions or problems, feel free to comment there (or here). Also, if you want to submit your own review, thoughts, suggestions, etc. the site has a way for you to post it and I can look it over and publish it. I'd love for this not to be a one man show. If you have extensive experience with one of the ROM's and want to throw in your own review, post it there and I'll make it live and link to it in the comparison table.
I know I'm going to get blasted, told how stupid and useless the site is, etc. etc. and I'm prepared for that, but maybe you could also include a quick note on why it's stupid, what I need to add, how better to improve it, etc. you know, constructive criticism. I do know it's ugly and using a crappy default skin, but I was more concerned on getting content in there right now vs the look and feel of the actual thing; I'll get around to it, eventually. Anyways, I'm only trying to help.
http://sgs2.glitchsys.com/
Thank you, this is very helpful to a newcomer to Android. I'll try to find time to read through the reviews, as I want to find the right ROM without the hassle of flashing each one (but I guess you'll never know which one works best for you unless you try it...). The comparison table helps a lot.
Nice compilation! Was worth a read! Thanks for gathering all these into one
This is awesome! Many thanks. I had asked to setup something similar a while back with all the Galaxy Tab ROMs. Never took off. I can definitely see that this could take a bit of work keeping it current. Hopefully folks will help out in that area.
i like the work u did...
Thanks for this! Really helpful to new guys.
Serendipity is at 8.1; added the file to the server, updated the Download link and included his changes in the table. It's all good.
i dont think that site is stupid at all. I think it'll help a lot of the newbies but that takes a lot of work to update. As long as it stays updated, I dont see how anyone can say that its a bad idea.
One issue that the devs MIGHT have is that you saved their ROMs and update files to your own server. I know some devs dont like that (at least some on the captivate section didn't) but maybe thats different, here.
Really nice to see all the listed items in there, I know it would be hard to list them all but but maybe point out in the CM7 section more (if not including all seperately) the Modifications, Theme Chooser, Etc. that are built into CM7 by design without the need for more apps, rom tweaks. Also note that the CM7 camera does not have the same options as stock and how the video recording rate is not the 30 fps as with the stock roms. I am trying to be impartial here but thought I would note that looking at your site would make some think CM7 didn't have much to it, when in fact it has many options and setting built in that are not available to stock roms or how stock roms would need some other changes to get things to work the same. On another note the ONLY downfall I see with CM7 is the contact searching would be nicer to have a letter on the side.of the screen like stock does so I don't have to scroll all the way down to find a contact and would be nice to have speed dial working without another app from the market.
Just trying to point out a few plus's and minuses of CM7 to help you add to your great comparison site.

Nice work -- the only suggestion I would make is that UnNamed's section is huge compared to the others - so unless you are specifically recommending that one, you may want to equalize the columns.
But other than that -- I think a very helpful resource for folks who are new to the phone looking to get a quick comparison of which ROM to try first!
@RockRatt can I use some of your wording in my review? I'll update my CM7 section/review but you wrote a lot of nice ideas.

Hey, so I've seen a lot of people talking about how good XX ROM is and it's better than YY because of something. Also another problem being the question of best ROM.
I'd like to say something: Everyone has their own thinking and point of view, so something's that's not important to you might be imporrtant to someone else, so making judgements like this is better than that is all dependant from person to person. We all know that no two mind think alike. These types of questions discourage developers so please it's my humble request to not post / compare ROMs calling them bad / good. If you don't like a feature then don't use it. Same goes for the ROM. If you can help improve then you most probably can via github or gerrit as some ROMs provide. With that being said. Thanksfor the time to read this post.
I kind of agree. I much prefer to see descriptions with a list of pros and cons rather than a simple "this ROM is better because I like these aspects"

How is it that even a thread specifically made to tell people not to ask questions about which rom is best, turns into a rom advice thread.

Won't make a separate thread for this but I'll ask here - what are 2-4 most popular ROMs for the OP2 going around nowadays? I've been using Exodus ROM for a long time and I really liked it, but the latest update was November 11th and it looks like the developers have moved on. The ROM is fine, and there's really nothing that I'm missing, but there are some stability issues with random reboots and force close and this is the longest I've gone without updating/changing something so I'm looking to try something new. I want to look into a few different options and read others' reviews and look into features and stuff, but it would be great if you guys could narrow down my search to the few most popular/well known/most supported roms that are currently available.

I'm still playing around with some things. Ended up doing a complete clean flash of RR, Magisk 13, and this again this morning, so I haven't had too much time to just dive into everything just yet. Just tested sound over speakers though, and it sounds great. Still gotta see how battery fares.
If you opt to let the patch install Gapps, they're very minimal, and you'll end up installing most of them from the Play Store, but that gives you the option to keep whichever ones you want. There are also a ton of lib files, and some add-ons from Sony and HTC that are worth checking out. Will give a more detailed post after I've had more time to mess around.
I'm interested too.
A list with some information of the benefits would still be good.

Glad to hear it runs! Well, there are hundreds of Features and goodies in this Baby. I'm working on Android since almost 7 Years and the Patch is the Product of enhancing custom ROMs to something more than that. Calling it a Mod is like calling a Operation on a Brain slaughtering lol
I will try to explain it a bit.
The Light Patch is the 3rd Version of My Patch System. The Multi Device Support is caused by excluding the Device specific Firmware from the customization which i usually would do with a ROM. The advantages of that are independent OS updates, Multi Device Support, Features which You can't get with AOSP, and it is better to develop than usual Mods or ROMs.
We have planned to create a own AOSP OS and some Apps in the Future which will include the advanced research behind the Patch and everything what i do. It is really hard for Me to describe all that. But i'm going to enhance My Project together with a new Partner and the Light Patch is the first Step on that Way. There will come for sure more Infos, Videos and all possible Things over the Time. And don't run away cause of my English! My Partner speaks a lot better English than Me, so the overall Quality will come over the Time. I'll let him do all the Social stuff here so i can focus on the development (finally). The Main Team is growing and our Maintainers will also get a place in our Org. We will soon have a own Domain with G Suite Service and everything looks bright for our Project.
I hope that wasn't to much bad English for One Post  Just take a look on My very long Changelog and try the Patch. You will not regret it, it is 100% stable if You follow the given Instructions

I think the intention is for it to be a bit of a surprise for now. I'm still trying to figure it all out, but if you check the changelogs at the website, you can put a good bit of it together.

With all of the duplicitous and snake oil mods on here I'm not listening to 13 year olds trying to market themselves as A.R.I.S.E.v6TurboCharger computer geniuses. People need specifics- not hype.

I decided to try it out of curiosity, pretty much because I flash a lot, and try to stay open to new things. I'm a tinkerer, and I guess that's just part of my fidgety nature. Lol. But, as there's no official maintainer or posts in the development section for our device yet, and English isn't the developers first language, it seems that either flashing or waiting for response from people that have are the best way to get information for now. But if you download the zip and browse through it, there are a lot of things there that should theoretically add to the user experience.
