Hi all.
I received my g5 a week ago as a replacement for nexus 6p which had inFamous early shutdown fault.
For first 4 days i loved g5, but on 5th day i started having problems with unlocking device from sleep.
I don't use tap to wake but fingerprint scanner. no screen protectors or case either.
As mentioned first day gave me more or less 1sec response from placing finger to unlocked device. But later it took 5-6 seconds, sometimes pressing power button was helping, and sometimes not. Generally 'always on screen' have to pop up for fingerprint scanner to work properly, but sometimes even after always on screen shows up it take 5 sec for fingerprint scanner to unlock device.
If i lock device and right after i'l try to unlock it with fingerprint scanner it works flawless. but if phone is locked for a few minutes problem comes back.
In addition to that i have noticed that when i make a phone call; take it from ear and put phone in front of my eyes screen lights up after 5-6 seconds a few seconds slower that my wife's 4 year old nexus 5.
I did factory reset. No change. i checked proximity sensor and testing software showes that everything is fine.
Does any of you had something similar?

My brand new unbranded Mozart has terrible lock screen lag issues. Phone was perfect to start with then after the usual updates and 2 days later, is proving very hard to release the lock screen. I need to wait at least 5s until the phone starts responding. I have noticed it does the same when on the phone (i.e when the screen senses proximity and goes blank). anyone no of this phone having wake up problems etc.?
Quick update - if I swipe up the left hand side of the screen the lag seems to vanish! (for that unlock only).
i.e swipe with index finger from the bottom left above the back arrow upwards and the Mozart seems to respond better!
Wierd but true. Just wondered up this works for anyone else experiencing the same problem.
The lock screen hasn't been responsive on mine. Strangely, once passing the lock screen, the screen is responsive, so shouldn't be a hardware problem right ?
Then I installed the new update and I can't get through the lock screen anymore. It responded to some flicks, but never completely unlock. But the rest of the interface (after doing a reset) is responding as good as always.
A test using the camera button, the screen needed two and a half minutes before responding. That's more than twice the time needed to response from a reboot

i having the same problem...
Huhhhh
same TT
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsRtofL9DQA << That's mine.
i have a tmo_de mozart, and when i flashed it with an unbranded rom, problems with the screen lag appeared, now i flashed tmo_de back and its as good as its supposed to, after 1 month
Had all kinds of touch screen lag problems with my friends Mozart, but lastnight i flashed the stock ROM again and it seems to have VASTLY improved it!
It was like the above video, but now its a million times better, but still misses the odd first swipe when unlocking.
Unsure if this problem is common, but have not found any information on it. No changes on atrix recently it is rooted but for the last 3 weeks no changes (only rooted for side loading) but today the phone is acting up specifically the screen doesn't respond to touch and also the fingerprint scanner is burning up. Should I just return it (out of my 30 day window, but this seems like a hardware issue)
No don't return it. Just remove battery and sim card and reboot. When it reboots hold the power button down, when you see the greyblur or gingerblur logo. Switch to airplane mode, should get you around the fingerprint sensor and just enter ur 4 digit code, then turn off the fingerprint sensor. I have done this 4 or 5 times. Sensor does not work on Greyblur 2.1 or Gingerblur 3.5.
The OP didn't say anything about themes, just rooted. A coworker had this problem where his finger scanner started cooking, even when the phone was off. He took it to the store and was sent a replacement in the mail 2 days later. I believe there's a 1 year warranty on these phones FYI.
When receiving or making calls the phone turns off when it approaches the ear. I understand the reason and like this function - so prefer not to uncheck this. I also understand the proximity sensor should turn the screen back on when the phone leaves my face (this used to happen).
Now, the phone stays black the moment the call is dialed or answered. I can press any button on the phone and it stays off. This presents a few problems 1) I can't dial through menu IVR menus, 2) I can't hang up calls (had to pull battery a couple of times), and 3) cannot due things like mute/unmute.
How can I get it, that if the screen is off and I press a button then the screen turns of (or the proximity sensor to work correctly).
Again, this used to work just fine - it's only recent (no changes to the phone have been made). The screen is clean so nothing is blocking the sensor.
Thanks
chances are you have a bad proximity sensor. I had the exact same symptoms and luckily still within the 30-day exchange. Try downloading android sensor box and test the sensor. I think the sensor wasn't glued tight because If i squeeze the sensor for a good 15 secs, it will work correctly; however, the symptom will return within a few minutes.

That answers that question. I am not within 30 day period, but within 1 year and have warranty.
Thank you!
Hi, I got my Elephone p9000 about a month ago and it's been running perfectly fine until the last few days. When I leave the phone locked for a while, and I try to unlock with my fingerprint, it will occasionally refuse to acknowledge i've placed my finger on the scanner, it can take up to 5 or 6 seconds until it unlocks, almost as if theres some kind of lag while the phone is asleep. This extends to locking the phone, if i'm in an app or on my home screen; and press the power button to lock the phone, sometimes it will just turn off the screen, not actually lock the phone, until 5 or 6 seconds later again, when I hear the lock noise and I'm back on the lock screen.
I've not changed anything, this has just started happening in the last week. If anyone has any ideas, i'd be very grateful for any help.
Thanks,
Holt
sometimes the indisplay Fingerprint sensor stops working at all.
The display wont recognize any touch and stays black.
If i push the Power button it starts working again.
This happens sporadically, 1 -3x a day
Did anyone had the same Problem?
Any suggestions?
Thanks for reading....

I haven't seen this problem. I use face unlock along with it and it usually recognizes my face before I can even scan it.
When the screen is black, you can put your finger on the display and some glowing circle Appears. This does not appear to me at all. The screen just stays Black.
Thx for the information.

Maybe your fingerprints got erased somehow? Does your phone display a fingerpring icon on the screen a second after you turn the screen off?
Sent from my LYA-L29 using XDA Labs
Yes the second I turn if off it shows a fingerprint sensor. Just after a while it won't toggle the sensor if I touch the display. It's like the fingerprint sensor is deactivated. The second I turn the display on manually it appears again.
Hello! I've got the p20 pro and now I'm testing mate 20 pro. Sometimes I'm not able to unlock the mate with my fingerprints at all. Same finger. The p20 works perfect, just touch and unlock. Mate sometimes I have to touch it 3-4 times before it unlocks , sometimes it doesn't unlock at all? Is that normal? The display was exchanged already because of this issue.
I believe you guys are not the only one. This on screen finger print is not reliable. I guess because they are new and will improve over time. Personally I just use face recognition than finger print. They are a lot more faster and accurate to unlock.
I know it's an old thread but it's happening to my M20Pro right now! It's awful! The screen is protected by a tempered glass made by Spigen (maybe this glass has issues?). I reconfigured the fingerprint and I touched almost 50 times until the phone captured the fingerprint! What's wrong with that sensor?!
I had problems with glass protector, if you can get plastic film it is fine, glass you will have problems....this was my finding
Possible brightness/proximity sensor issue

If you still have this phone and problem: I have a P30 Pro, and/but the reason I write here is because our phones share the fingerprint technology, and I didn't find anyone mentioning this problem regarding P30 Pro. So:
I have the same problem - seemingly sporadically the fingerprint sensor (or screen) wont react until I press the power button. Then I noticed that when the brightness/proximity sensor (located near the top right on the P30 Pro, and next (right) to the upper speaker on Mate 20 Pro) was covered, the screen would get unresponsive. I guess this is by design, to not accidently let your phone come to life in your pocket. The problem was/is that the proximity (?) sensor is way too sensitive - any obstruction at about 2 cm (0.8") above the sensor(s) will trigger this behaviour. I also think it can be triggered under other circumstances; I had som weird fingerprint/screen behaviour in a store with a high and very dark ceiling, but I have to test this again, so don't take my word for it.
Anyway - if anyone is having sporadic problems - see if this could be a reason.
Edit: Well, sometimes my screen is just totally unresponsive even without sensors blocked, so ... I noticed it a couple of times after digging my phone out of my pocket, suggesting it could still have something to do with the sensors turning the screen (functions) off. I'll try to see if I can make it behave the same way in other scenarios.
I have also been experiencing similar problems on my mate 20 pro, But mine is more of an accuracy problem. sometimes its on point and registers instantly. and other times it just doesnt at all.
However i have noticed that in extremely bright weather i have more issues, fingerprint doesnt read at all, and face ID is also doesn't. My finger print issues have started only after EMUI 10.1, so i suspect that it could possibly be a software related issue
