Phone identification - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
My wife is the owner of a SFR StarXtrem3 phone. It gradually stopped working since the ROM wasn't updated, and started suffer several troubles.
Google Services weren't working anymore, causing lots of problems ( app crash, as well as phone / sms crash etc.. ).
Now the phone is kind of "bricked". It's stuck with an error "Encryption failure" right after the phone startup and the "Reset to factory setting" doesn't work at all (no reaction).
Since SFR is a carrier, and not a mobile phone manufacturer, it was certain that it was another brand, making the search for ROM more difficult.
I think that it is an HTC device ( not sure ) because that's what Universal ADB Driver told me when I tried to install the drivers.
Also, I'm not sure about the recovery mode, since it's all written in chinese.
UPDATE : It is almost exactly this one ( mine has one more option ) :

Now, I am trying to identify the right hardware, so I can find a new ROM, and install the good drivers in order to use ADB and see if I can somehow retrieve the encrypted datas.
I'm also having an issue with ADB, which tell me that the device is offline..
So here are my questions :
What driver shall I use ?
How can I find the device hardware informations ?
Is there anyway I could somehow retrieve the datas that were on the phone disk ?
Here are the informations I have :
Computer Operating System : Windows 10 x64
Current driver used by windows : MT65xx Android Phone (winusb)
BBChip : MT6582
MS Board : STARXTREM3
Modem Version : MOLY. LR9.W1414A.MD.LWTG.MP.V3.P32
Kernel Version : 3.4.67
Android version : 4.4.2..
SW Ver. : H552
Android developper mode is disabled.
Android rom : stock rom, complete sh*t with sfr additions and no updates / support.

From my searches it appears to be a ZTE StarXtrem

I buy yesterday htc
The workaround looks like;
Install HTC-sync
Connect the phone with the cable with the pc
Select on the dropdown-screen : sync
Then run the RUU*******.exe on youre PC and follow the steps on youre screen.
same error here , my hero is native i didn't use any custom rom or made on it any changes bought from uk , i'll add details of my device later .
but i tried the following , the error stated that this is a usb connection error so i thought it might be problem with the htc driver so i upgraded the htc-sync application with the one in support site. restarted and tried again . but it didnt work... a new error showed up error 155: unknown error.
same error..any solution?
Reload the drivers in c:\program files\HTC\HTC Drivers\Driver Files\<your os>\ through device manager. Should solve it.

[Q] Using ADB with Sony Tablet S - ICS 4.0.3.r1a

Hi, i am new to the xda developers forum and i got a question about the android debugger, since i'm clueless what to do after several hours of searching :silly:
I have an Sony Tablet S with ICS version 4.0.3.r1a (not rooted) and i want to use it for app developing.
Sadly sony does not provide drivers out of the box, so i have to search for working drivers myself. I know, they provide a description of lines, you have to add to the google driver, and i have tried two different methods to get adb working, but my devices still does not show up in the adb devices list.
method 1 (automated driver installer): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1488822
method 2 (google driver modification): http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/suppo...=684a6e492d1523ff4081def0a00b48a1&info_id=878
The device seems to use the driver, since it shows up as Android Composite ADB Interface in the devmgmt, but it still does not show up in the adb devices list.
Here some Facts about my os and settings:
My PC:
OS: Win7 ultimate x64
adb-version: 1.0.29
google usb-driver version: 7.0.0.1
My Tablet:
Android-Version: ICS 4.0.3.r1a
USB-Debugging is enabled
Other sources for apps are allowed
here some pictures of my file contents & devices:

My head is smoking atm, so i hope you know more about drivers and adb as i do and maybe someone of you had the same problem and can help me, i would be really greatful.
So long,
r3bel
Finally i found a solution of my problem...
As simple as it was, i could kick myself ... the driver seems to have a problem with my usb 3.0 controller, the adb finds the device if it is plugged into a usb 2.0 port.
maybe this helps others who have the same problem
I had same problem (it was working before) and I did system restore to get it to work.
Then I could able to root my tablet.
How did you solve the usb problem?

These things are hard to be 100% on since there are like 1000s of knock offs like this and many are very similar with only a few differences. But, this one:
http://www.needrom.com/mobile/model-i9500w-mtk6572/
looks like it should be the right one since it has the same baseband version. Sorry it's in Italian. Google Translate should help. But should be the same as loading any other MT6572 based rom.
I'd also suggest to remove the IMEI from the screenshot as it's not hard for someone with a lot of knowledge and not so many scruples to take your IMEI and use it on another phone which might make yours not work properly or at all. Especially on MTK devices as there are a lot of IMEI repair and changing tools available since security on that part is not as highly valued as say, Qualcomm.
thanks es0tericcha0s for advise....
I try that rom but not work
Sorry. :/ What is not working? Did it fail to install the rom? Does it not boot up at all? Does it freeze on the boot animation...? Details are very important in troubleshooting.

To root device's Android, neither a OEM unlock nor having installed a Custom Recovery is necessary: access to device's Stock Recovery - each Android since ever comes with a Stock Recovery - is sufficient. A combination of keys pressed in a specific order will boot up the device in Recovery mode which displays the list of options - those typically are

Because your Vertu Aster has no card slot, you have to select option "apply update from adb" what of course requires you must have Google's USB-driver ( commonly referred to as ADB ) already installed on your computer.
In order to root Android simply download SuperSU Pro ZIP and install it via Recovery's "apply update from adb" method. It's so simple ...

Ulefone Armor X5 2020 version (android 10)with the mt6762 corrupted

Hi everyone, I have the Ulefone Armor X5 2020 version (android 10)with the mt6762 mediatek processor ( description of the seller, the ticket on the box and Ulefone description) this is very confuse why the stock rom for this device is for mt6765 and I read mt6765 with sp flash software.
My problem is what this was bricked from factory, its work unstable and rebooting ramdomly.
I try many things like factory reset, wipe the cache, (when wipe the cache the display show E: Fota installation aborted, E:: No such file or diretory) reflash the stock firmware, reflash preloader and recovery separately, but the problem persist.
And one of the first messages i read was system corrupted.

Aha! Same fone as mine... Now here's your problem, same as mine, quite simply, android 9 says mt6762, but an upgrade to android 10_q shows mt6765, I now have mine on 10 pro, and it shows mt6762. Now to get out of where you are, you need to grab the firmware for your fone, have adb/fastboot setup, and get ready to restore fone, the fact you can see recovery means it aint that bad... did you fix it?
