Hello, I have noticed that my voice sounds muffled when I make calls.
I have tried different roms and firmwares and it still the same.
Is there any fix for this?
Maybe it's a hardware or kernel error

I have looked through the forums and googled this far and wide, but couldn't find anything. When I make a video call there is no sound except a very loud static noise. Has anyone had a similar problem?
I'm on Pure ICS Rom by Spike_M, have tried different kernels and modems, but couldn't fix it. The interesting thing is that my brother has the same Rom and setup on his SGS2 and he doesn't have this problem. Also video calling through Skype works fine!
Appreciate any help!
Hi, I'm not sure if my problem is in hardware or software, but evesince I uprgraded to ics (stock XWLPU, Siyah 4.1.5) everytime i talk to someone on the phone they complain they hear me very weak. this happens with noise reduction on and off.
any ideas? I tried to find some different phone.apk, but no luck.
thanks!
Hi,
I have a HTC One X+ and have tried a couple of different custom ROMS:
Carbon ROM 4.4.2
Carbon ROM 4.3.1
The roms run really well, the only problem i'm having is that when I am calling people, they hear an echo and the sound is muffled and really bad quality..
I can hear the caller perfectly though, all the sound issues are only heard by the caller?
I have searched and searched on Google and these XDA forums but still haven't been able to find a solution to this problem..
I thought it might have been the latest 4.4.2 rom so I downgraded to the 4.3.1 however the caller still receives really bad audio / echoing..
Has anyone got the same problem? and more importantly how can this be fixed?
It seems so weird that it's only on the receiver's end of the call that the sound issues occur, i've read about a noise suppression option but can't find it anywhere?
This is just using the phone, no bluetooth headset / speakerphone.
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks,
Sam
My friend told me about a similar issue he had on his phone (not HTC). He said that this happened after he flashed a beta kernel which was unstable.
thanks for your reply, I've now installed the latest Cyanogenmod rom and even though there still is a bit of an echo on the receiver's end in calls it's not half as bad as it was.
I'll maybe try a different kernel, cheers
Hi, I'm having a strange problem not hearing anything in loud calls.
The scenario is following: I dial the number, the other party picks up (or the other way round), I switch to loud speaker and...can hear nothing (neither from the earspeaker, nor from the loudspeaker). Microphone works normally as it should in the loud call - the other party hears fine. Normal calls (not loud ones) also work fine. Speaker itself is also working - ringtones, music are played.
I'm on the newest AOSP Neatrom 8.0st (KK 4.4.4) and Apolo Kernel 7.1. No other issues so far.
I'm quite new to custom ROM/kernel flashing, also I only recently got my hands on Samsung GII. Sorry if this is a stupid question. No reasonable search effort gave me good results. I'm asking this before I ruin my successful combination of ROM/kernel flashing another ones.
Thanks. Martin
Ok, problem solved by clean re-flash of ROM and kernel.
Still I would like to understand where the problem could have been. Just if it reappears...
Hi
I've seen a lot of people on the forums talking about this problem, but I couldn't see anyone who could find a solution. I have the same problem. Whatsapp, messenger etc.
When making a video call, the sound is echoing to the other party. Especially the voices such as the voices of children coming from behind are echoing to the other party. There is again this problem in normal voice calls, but it does not bother because it is very few. video calls are annoying. i tried global rom, i tried eu rom the result is the same. If I can't find a solution, I'll also try custom rom. those who have the same problem, I would be glad if any help comes from you
thanks.
hi
I installed aosp-based custom rom, the result is still echoing in the same video calls. new updates will not solve the problem. The problem is hardware related.
I have same problem. I tried dirrents rom but same. not solve.
maybe if disable top mic it can solve.
So how can I disable top mic?
Hi,
Did anyone find a solution for this?
BTW, in my case if I'm the one who starts the video call (from WhatsApp), I have the problem. But if I ask the same person to start the call, the sound is clear... Weird.
Is this similar to you guys?
