What happens if i flash unlock.bin from an other device? - LG G5 Questions & Answers

Hi guys i just have a silly question.
Will my lg g5 bootloop if i use a friends unlock.bin, or the adb will just reject it?
Thanks

Good question, I guess nobody try it so you can be first ... but i don't recommend it.
Even if you will flash it successfully, probably there is checking if unlock.bin is compatible with your phone (via Device-ID or IMEI or .....).
Anyway it will not unlock your phone.

Solved:BIG PROBLEM: P778g Imposible to unlock Bootloader?

Hi people!! I have a BIG PROBLEM, because i live in Argentina, and my L9 it´s called P778g, and have the same specs than the P768, BUT the ROMs of the last don´t work on P778g for nobody in my country (I´m from an hispano parlant forum) and also don´t works the ROMs of P760/P765.
Someone can help my to fix this very big problem? The mobile have v10a ICS, and v20a from the operators of Movistar and Claro.
Is there no way to unlock alternatively, or last, unlocked via fastboot as XPERIA´s phones?

You must unlock bootloader before flash any custom rom. Please visit this thread to unlock bootloader http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2313794

I tyied the steps, but i cant flash v20b Open Europe, because the KDZ Updater says "problem with usb connect of the phone" when i´m flashing this. But i think is because is for P760 phones, and my phone is p778g. Also, the roms of p768 didn´t work on my cellphone, only p778g ROMs

I think you can flash P760 rom on ypu phone. As I know only P760 - Europe Open - V20B or V20C can unlock bootloader. I you want to unlock your phone bootloader your must flash it. Their're some people that follow that thread but cannot unlock bootloader. I don't know why. For me it's work at first attempt.
For your problem, please try
- Turn on your phone, connect usb cable, select LG software mode
- In offline flash program select "DIAG" in Phonemode instead of "Emergency" then follow normal offline flash step.
- Your phone should reboot to S/W mode automatically.
After reboot their may be some software error message, you can ignore it. Some thread said that you should wait for about 30 minutes and have your sim and wifi on may make unlock bootloader success. Please give it a try.

I try this too, but without glory
But, i try to put a CWM Backup of the V20B Europe Open, and works on my phone!!!!
At first time i try to unlock the bootloader without succes, but i try a second time However, in my first try on v20B, my computer detect the OMP44...blabla,
Edit: 2 try fails too
@artit i have question, It is possible to find a better method of unlocking as unlocking via fastboot like XPERIA phones?
I was talking with a colleague Argentine was one of the first to buy the P778g just went to the Argentine market, and apparently could safely install the "v20B Open Europe" like any other ROM it existed, but after you break the screen and it changes to a other "identical" phone, the same thing has happened to his.
There may be a possibility that the method is removed to unlock the bootloader and install any ROM in our P778g?

There is no new unlock bootloader for now. I notice that a lot of people have problem unlock their L9 bootloader. May be there is new way to unlock it in near future. Just wait to see it happen, some dev is working on it.

LG G5 SE H840 (Europe) - Possible Bootloader Unlock

A friend of mine got this phone recently, it's the "Special Edition" H840, but it's European.
I was checking the Developer Options and noticed that i was able to enable OEM Unlock.
My questions are:
Should I try to unlock the bootloader via fastboot?
Should I try another fastboot command first (or after) to see if they've been blocked like on the H830?
Would me confirming any of this help you guys out in any way?
Thanks in advance, I'd love to see development get started on the H840 if it's possible to unlock its bootloader.

The OEM unlock option is there on all G5's, it was even there on my ATT V10 that has yet to be unlocked. I suppose you could try to run the fastboot commands, but I doubt you'll actually get anywhere with it.
As Eric said, they're present in every G5 version. Don't waste your time, you can't unlock it without the IMEI associated .bin file.

please help not able to root / not able to boot into recovery

Hi Fellow Users!
I just bought LG v10 yesterday with international warranty even though i live in UAE, the problem is i am following all the steps from "step by step guide to root for tmo" but unfortunately i am not able to boot into phone recovery which is odd for me as i am a long time user of android, is that possible my phone doesn't have one? I tried everything adb, manually but nothing worked, i once booted my phone into recovery via adb but i saw green android picture with no command written on it and fastboot didn't worked there so there is that.
1) i tried dirty_cow but stuck at getenforce "permissive didn't appeared which is must needed, i think its related to my bootloader"
2) should i follow LGUP procedure even i am not sure my bootloader is unlocked?
P.S my phone is TMO although its unlocked to use any network.
Please advise, thank you
Unfortunately flashing KDZ file bricked my phone, :crying:
Now its just off it doesn't turn on tried everything any advise?
Update: Went to LG TechServe and handed over my phone to re-flash the original firmware, bad thing they don't cover international warranties as i live in UAE and the model i have is TMO with international warranty so there's that.
Reason to share the story, may people learn from this.
Have you tried with Kingroot app or kingoroot app? These apps can root many devices.

V30 US998 bootloader with no fastboot commands

Hello, I just got a used V30 US998 from B&H Photo, my first LG phone. I tried to unlock the bootloader but when I reboot into bootloader I get this screen that says Welcome to fastboot for bootloader unlock (image bellow) but no fastboot commands work and the only options I have with the volume buttons are RESTART or POWER OFF. I am I missing something? has anyone come across this? So far I tried a hard reset, I flashed the oem rom with LGUP with no luck. Any Help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

It could be a used US cellular us998. The us cellular version does not have a unlockable bootloader like the open market us998.

How are you trying to unlock the bootloader? You have to flash the unlock.bin file given to you by the LG Developer Bootloader Unlock list, after you've entered the IMEI and DEVICE-ID (and it was verified as being eligible) after you've created an LG developer account.
Have you done all that?
You can't just walk up to the phone and OEM unlock the bootloader.
From that screen you're on in your picture, you flash the unlock.bin file with a fastboot flash command.

B&H Photo wouldn't sell used U.S.Cellular model phone.
I can't tell if he says he bought it from B&H Photo directly, or the person he bought it from claims they bought it from B&H Photo?
If the latter, does he have any proof from the seller it's actually from B&H Photo? If he bought it himself from there, then he knows for sure.

Thank you for the replies. To clarify your legit questions, I bought the phone directly from B&H and even called LG to confirm it is an unlocked open market US998 and is under warranty. I've always had HTC phones and always unlocked and rooted them etc... LG is new to me but I am somewhat familiar with the process bootloader unlock is very similar to HTC. Back to the bootloader issue yes I did everything you mentioned other then getting the unlock code Bin file from LG because I can't get the device-ID from the phone since it wont go into fastboot mode it wont do anything when I issue fastbood commands in that screen. and yes I read everything I can read about doing this and tried everything I can think of, but of course I can't think of everything! it could be a very simple thing I am missing. I read somewhere that, that screen is a debug bootloader. also when I reboot into recovery using ADB command it says "NO COMMANDS HERE" if I remember correctly. it's very frustrating when you can't void the warranty on your phone!!! Again I appreciate the responses.

Problem solved. The issue was a missing driver in windows 7. I am attaching the driver in case anyone runs into the same problem just double click "install.exe" after extracting the zip then connect the phone reboot into bootloader and you should see Fastboot in device manager, now Fastboot commands should work. Thanks to everyone that responded.
Just want to say that this is the ONLY answer that worked for me, out of countless pages of irrelevant or bad advice. The file above will fix the "Other devices: Android" missing device when in fastboot mode on Windows 7. Fastboot will then see your LG-V30.

WTF Troubleshooting Tip #7.
No need to go through countless pages of irrelevant or bad advice. . Glad you found it, but it's posted in the WTF INSTRUCTIONS Troubleshooting Tips for good reason. @FZZF is thanked there also.
Well yeah I guess that's true. Most of the bad advice was from across the Internet over there, not from here of course.
I'd suggest to always make it a habit of typing 'fastboot devices' or 'adb devices' whenever you connect the device to your pc.
If (either of) those commands don't respond with a listing of your device name / number... then the pc can't see the device. That's a
pc driver problem.
Cheers, keep it simple.

Sorry, but you're ****ing out of luck. Nokia ****ing dead-locked their phones, and there's no way to unlock them. Next time, go buy another phone from another OEM instead of this ****ing one.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/how-do-i-unlock-the-bootloader-for-nokia-x10.4323507/ I've also asked a similar question to yours before, and...People told me that there's no ways to unlock those new Nokia phones' bootloaders anymore. You can try contacting their customer support, but I don't think it will work. I contacted them before so I can unlock my Nokia X10's bootloader, but they just kept dodging my question and sent some automated answers instead

Wow i didn't think this thread is gonna get revived in a year.
Well i did contact Hdm but exactly like you staded they used security as an excuse so i wasn't able to unlock the bootloader.
My phone still works but when it breaks i will switch over to smasung because bootloader unlock there is very easy.

well, here's some news for hoping: Hikari_Calyx acquired a few prototype units of HMD/Nokia phones (some of which look suspiciously similar to the Nokia X10/20), and with cases like this (he extracted a prototype ABL image for bootloader unlocking), one can hope that the Nokia X10/20 will be unlocked in the same way as the XR20 (minus the step of acquiring full access to tri-color company's Device Kit, of course, **** that kit)
