Have gestures like twist for camera, chop chop for torch, etc. been removed in slip 7? I can't find them.

Yup.
Then again, it is a beta. Slim7 is still kind of in its infancy.

Hello guys I found a minor bug.
When the screen is locked it shows battery 0%. I also tried to plug the charger and it stays the same. However, on the other screens with the phone unlocked it normally shows the remaining battery charge %.

I'm having the same issue.
I also have found the following bugs / problems.
- After configuring actions on the navbar, sometimes the UI gets freezes or it reloads puting the phone on the locking screen.
- At first impression the sound volume for notifications, phone calls, keyboard tapping and stereo sound were too low. I replaced the xml file with the fix one on the system\etc folder and that solved.
- Battery shows 0% at lockscreen.
My suggestions for features / imementations if you don't mind:
- Implement root on the rom so the flash of supersu don't be needed.
- Implement advanced battery profiles like high performance, maximum performance, balanced and efficient. And also the automatic profile selection on demand.
- Implement advanced reboot as developer option inside developer menu.
- Integrate root to the rom so it can be controlled on developer options.
- Implement graduation selection on animation duration options graduating from like 0.1 to 0.9 and 1.0 to 1.9 as a slidable bar. (Some roms have it and is great to use .3 or .4 so the animation be smooth but present)
- Implement round icons in pixel launcher.

Can you please tell me which camera app and what version of the app you're using?
I got this ROM installed and I simply love it!
But I can't record video I even tried the modded Moto cam app.
Please tell me the exact name and version number of the camera app you are using.i really appreciate ur time thanks a bunch
Great rom so far. I was a little surprised to see that there's no settings for ambient display that I could find. Not a deal breaker, just surprised I guess. Other than that, it works about as well as any other rom out there, and certainly does seem much speedier than stock with close to the same battery life. Nice work!

Hello friend, you may try the google camera. I installed it using aroma gapps and is working gracefully.
Also on the first try to open the camera ti delays a bit, but only happens on the first. Also if you change the screen resolution, it will also delay a bit at the first try after changing screen resolution / scale.

I haven't tested much yet but THANK YOU for a flashing notification light. All of the other N ROMS need it.

And long pressing home not working
the best thing about slimroms is that they have what they call slim settings, if it's not there then this rom probably shouldn't be called slimrom. no offense. i love slimroms, but i have to say that you failed to provide the real slimroms experience with this build.
i think its better if u build the slimL or the slimkat rather than forcing to build the slim6.
For those guys who r complaining about this rom pls thank dev for building it for our device as he dont have this device then also he is making roms for us for those who complaining about features this rom is builded directly with source without doing any modifications as AFAIK the name of rom is Slim-wt88047-6.0.1.alpha.0.2-UNOFFICIAL-20160627-0635.zip in the rom name itselfs says that it is at ALPHA STAGE it means SLIM COMMUNITY is adding features and etc in their sources so guys pls thank dev instead of complaining about fcuking features

Can you please try some other launchers other than the stock Slim Launcher and see if the orientation works ? I am using Pixel Launcher and it did rotate for me.
Will do. I need to run a backup and then I'll reinstall to test. Give me a few hours on that.

Installed and running smooth! Got dt2w enabled, didn't have that on my stock 7. Missed it.
Still setting up and messing around. But nice to be back on Slim. All my devices ever have ran slim frequently. :good:
Kudos to the chef! :highfive:
Edit: About rotation. Nova doesn't rotate, or apps. But, I ran Netflix, and it rotated when the video started. Then, phone was stuck on landscape, for everything, til the screen timed out. When I woke the phone, portrait was back. So not a huge deal. Turning screen off then on brings back portrait anyway. But no auto rotate for anything. Hope that info helps.
Edit 2: Camera no rotate. Just reporting, but I guess this is known issue, so I'll shut up.

ABANDONED!
The development has been abandoned because:
1) I still have J5, but i dont use it anymore since i own Huawei Nova.
2) I dont really want to keep my PC on for 4-5 hours to build a ROM in which people are not really interested considering that they are crazy about Nougat.
3) When ive built RR and Slim for first times, i was running into errors regarding the ROM as the development for LP and MM for those has stopped. I havent wrote the errors and solutions and i would need to spend time again to find those if i wouldnt remember them.
The ROM is stable and is running fine, but make sure to check the bugs list in post #2.

1) Adaptive Brightness doesnt work since J5 doesnt have the needed sensor.
2) The DPI is set smaller by default. However, you can change that in Settings > Display.
3) Samsung Doze is not included yet. I didnt include it because i have encountered some build errors. I might include it in future.
4) To enable SystemUI Tuner, go to Notification Drawer and keep the finger on the settings icon for some seconds until you will be notified that it got enabled. Then you can find it in Settings > SystemUI Tuner.
5) Hardware button rebinding feature is not included! I have tried it to include it according to the commit from Slim github, but the options still didnt appear in Settings.

BUGS:
Found a bug? Please describe it as much as you can and post a logcat. You can find tutorials about how to take a logcat on google. Just google something like: xda how to take a logcat.
- same as cm13
- i experienced a freeze once when i wanted to reboot the phone from power menu. I heard it happened on cm13 too.
- sometimes when you reboot the phone, the screen stays black few seconds, but then it goes normal and wont have any problems.
- [Launcher] when App Drawer is Paged, you cant add apps to homescreen from app drawer. But it works fine when the app drawer is Vertical.
I have added SlimLauncher with this bug fixed at Downloads.
Bugs of cm13
- Radio FM
- Camera doesnt work in Snapchat video recording
- When you wanna record a video with SD 480p or QCIF resolution, the screen/camera becomes green with stripes, but you can see the video after recording.

@#Henkate, you da real MVP, great work
Just a little question, is there any plans for the other variants (j500h in particular ?) ?
To build this ROM do you need @Nick Verse cm13 sources ?

Great! I downgraded to 5.1.1 for this, just waiting for the J500F release. Good job man.
Great job bro with the new ROM , but I was confused why we need android 5.1 to flash this ROM based on android 6?? Or U used 5.1 bootloader instead of 6. Also whats the advantage of sticking with 5.1 bootloader over 6? CM 13 also needs 5.1 to be flashed.. I am just confused and curious about this bro.
PS: I really appreciate your hard work, keep it up bro.. :good:

Mr. A,
That is a really great question. If I may be so bold as to answer:
Typically, when you build a ROM from source code, you need the cell phone vendor "blobs" (technical term for low level firmware) that make the phone hardware work, like the cellular and WiFi.
In many cases, you have to step back to an older boot loader and modem to work with the blobs that are available to the developer who makes the ROM.
To make ROMs using newer firmware, that firmware has to be extracted, and a lot of code, often called the device tree, or wrapper, needs to be written to use the newer modem and boot loaders. This is very time consuming, where often the older material can be slightly recoded or altered to accomplish the task much faster.
This, however, still takes a lot of time, but perhaps only a quarter of that of extracting and rewriting gobs of code. In most cases, the end result is nearly or sometimes completely identical.
In some cases, the newer material raises such complications that features may not work, until someone figures out how to do it. In the meantime, the older firmware still works great.
Hope that helps answer the question.

It's using CM13 kernel, device and vendor tree. I have modified slightly only device and vendor tree in order to be able to build Slim. I will publish the device and vendor later, not now, because I wanna try to build AOSP again.
This doesn't mean that is based on CM! Slim is based on AOSP which is slightly modified as you can see in the screenshots / features.
@ganesh varma said that the other models need some changes. I don't know what changes, but I can try to build for J500H too with the available sources at this moment and we'll see how it goes.

SlimRoms is a custom android operating system. Our main goal is to offer users a slimmed down yet feature rich alternative to other android operating systems.
The entire SlimTeam work together to bring you this tailor-made beauty straight from Android Open Source Project (AOSP) source code.
All of the sources can be publicly viewed through GitHub and you can stop by our public Gerrit to submit patches of any type.
Slim7 is the project name for SlimRoms based on Android 7.1.x Nougat, which offers the following original features:
Slim Navbar & Hardware key rebinding
Single tap action, long press action, double tap action! - We’ve got you covered.
Slim Actions & Chamber of secrets
Customise your device to the fullest - You’re a wizard!
SlimRecents
A faster alternative to stock recents - Your device, your choice.
SlimLauncher
An open source, feature filled launcher! - Make yourself at home
Status bar customisations
Clock and date? Battery? - More fun than you can shake a stick at.
Important links:
https://slimroms.org/#/ - Official website with anything SlimRoms related but, since this is an unofficial build, I'll try to cover device-specifics below.
Kernel source
My sources
Initial - post I made in the old Slim thread; it's got some info about the first couple of builds and stuff. You should read it.
Installation steps:
- You MUST unlock your device's bootloader in order to install Slim; I won't cover this area, however you can look it up here in the forums or ask me anything about it.
- Install the latest TWRP (again, won't cover this, but there are tons of guides and I'll try and help aswell.)
- Download the latest build, gapps (I usually go for nano, haven't tried other builds) and your preferred root choice, should you want to root (I've been using Magisk and it seems to work just fine). Place them all in the storage or sdcard.
- Reboot into recovery mode
- Wipe --> Advanced wipe --> data, cache, dalvik, and system. This is a clean flash, therefore you will lose your apps and their data; (sd and storage are not mandatory to wipe, so anything in there's going to be fine if you don't do it) remember to back those things up if you want to keep 'em.
- Install the build, the gapps and the root zip if you're going to root.
- Done! Reboot and enjoy. Remember the first boot always takes a few minutes. If anything goes wrong, don't panic! Worst case scenario, you soft-bricked your phone, and that can be easily fixed. Just come to the forums and ask!
If you're coming from a previous Slim version: You're probably all right without the /data wipe; if a clean flash is absolutely needed, I'll say so when I upload the build. Keep in mind, dirty flashes are still dirty and this is still a beta stable, but still, bugs may surface.

Nice work!
I did try it... Found it very smooth... Shifted back to viper since i could not customise much.... Majorly inspite of xposed gravitybox i could not move the status bar clock to centre... Anyone who's using has a way out?

No bugs . if there are any, it should be the same as in lineage . It uses the lineage kernel which to my knowledge does not have hotplug .

Update people
Version : 1.5
Changes:
1. camera fixed
2. added lenovo doze
3. added aospa's color engine - i did this because i've been trying to make mobile data work in aospa for about a month now . since i am unable to do that , i thought i'll take one of their cool features and implement in slim until some experienced dev takes up aospa.
link :https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=961840155545587323
note :
1. first boot will take some time ,so have some patience .
2. opening the camera for the very first time takes a few extra secs . after that it's fine.
This ROM really good. Just need a little attention.
Bug/Wish:
1) Battery icon or text color don't adapting to application. All time color is white. (First release)
2) Please, remove the DevTools app.
Slimrom needs a lot of customization options. Interface menu has just a option
Now, i am flashing last release. LOS 08.07 has reset problem.
Just a small request to developer that to make this rom official asap.
Hi, ROM is amazing but... How remove the search bar? I can't find it in settings. Thanks for your work!!!
