Hi Guys,
I took a backup of my Whatsapp data including videos few days back to my Google Drive, the size of the same was 180mb. Just now I was taking the backup again and the size of the data was 360mb and then after 60% or 70% it kept on increasing like it became over 500mb considering I did not receive any new message of any kind. Few doubts-
1. If I open the Google Drive via the app or pc, I am not able to find the backed up data anywhere. Where is it located?
2. The back up data which was taken few days back, is it overwritten or it stays there as it is? Why is the size of the backed up data increasing right now?
WA is up to date.
Thanks
Bump.

I have a samsung vibrant, which is currently running bionix v and I have been getting the same error message "database storage is getting low" for a couple months now. I have had a couple different lag fixes and around ten different rooms on the phone. This message when I receive this message, I cannot receive texts anymore and the phone also becomes laggy to a point where it is unusable. I have Odin backed to stock at least seven times and master reset around 10 to try to fix this in the past two months but the message still pops up. It used to only pop up when I opened the web and I would be able to get rid of it by clearing the web data in manage apps but recently, it won't go away. I have 8 gb empty on my phone, around 30 apps installed, 60 contacts, and never over 100 text messages. I manage app, the app taking up the most data is flash and thats at 7 mb, all other apps and functions are under 1 mb. Is there any way to fix this? Or is it screwed?
Try to google your question. These are the first three that I found. Looks like most are clearing the "data" and not the "cache" to correct the issue. It looks like something about FB linking with your contacts might be an issue as well. Although I can't believe that would be an issue if you are saving your contacts to your gmail. Good luck!

Yeah, It usually goes away after I clear the data of web, but then again the data of web will only be at 400 kb when I get the message. I don't connect my contacts to Facebook. And the only app I have that takes up over a mb is flash. Everything is under a mb.
Do you save contacts to gmail or phone?
Also, i think when I skimmed through some of those posts a lot of people got good results from a factory reset. Have you tried that as well?
hi i was in the gym today and had to switch batterys , when the phone started back up i had no texts atall and its been over 2 months since my last backup and have lost alot of texts
could the old database file have been orphaned or has my phone a galaxy note moved the file location of the sms database file ? or can i revert back to an old version ?
I was looking around earlier with SQLite Editor and i went under Dialer Storage and found two databases one called telephony.db which holds carrier info(APN) also found mmssms.db which had alot of old messages and phone numbers i deleted a long time ago and much more. I'm not sure how to restore it if it isn't there, Other then if you used titanium backup anytime restoring the SMS/MMS/APN Dialer Storage will restore the apps that were at the time of the backup. I hope this helps
So I've been having this weird problem since I got my phone.
I notice that basically any text messages I restore from a backup program, whether it's SMS Backup/Restore, MyBackup, Titanium Backup, Handcent SMS, etc etc - the date always shows the current date and not the original message date.
This is kind-of a problem, since my messages have occasionally wiped themselves out leaving me only stuck with the backups.
So I took the .db file from the /data folder (I actually got the exact location from this forum), and tried opening it with a SQLite editor on my PC. Surely enough, the date column was "0" for every single message.
Is there a particular reason why this is? And how does the phone even store the dates you send/receive messages if they aren't stored with the SMS's themselves? I need some way to back up and restore my messages that will preserve the dates - right now literally the only option is a complete nandroid backup, which is a real pain.
I know why this is not a forum for Apple, but please ask them your help .
MY PROBLEM IS:
I have an iPhone 4 to 16 GB with Jailbreak IOS 7.1.2
2 days ago just, i just send a message, and had open Whatts App.
Accidentally dropped my iPhone from a height of 1 meter: When i raise the iPhone is off and will not turn on, which I thought was odd, because even before he had fallen but never been something.
I proceed to open the iPhone, remove and put the battery: then turn on normally.
Until there everything seemed fine: until I open Whatts App and tells me .:
"SEEMS WHATSAPP HAVE PROBLEMS TO READ YOUR HISTORY CHATS. WHATTSAPP TRY HIM BACK. IT MAY TAKE SEVERAL MINUTES"
I give in recovering and reaching 10%: mark mistake .:
"UNFORTUNATELY WHATTS APP COULD NOT RECOVER YOUR HISTORY CHATS, PLEASE RESTORE IF OF ICLOUD"
Here another problem arises:
There had activated the automatic backup of chats due to which there was no space Icould.
When I go to restore Icould: The last copy was 13/9/2014: 6 months ago.
And a message appears which says "Restore now, if you skip this step, can not be restored later."
Obviously restore from six months ago does not serve me well.
So far the application of Whatts App occupied 6.5 GB
Proceeded to delete all my pictures of Icould to make space.
I have no backup of iPhone on the PC.
With iTools: I explore the application and backup throughout, including files and media files and file chats .
After exploring Whatts App and backup in my hard drive application, delete many media files to reduce the size of the App, until he was 4 GB.
I climb back up the iPhone (only data Whatts App) to iCloud.
After proceeded to restore chats Whatts App from iCloud (13/09/2014)
And surprise surprise ...
Chats were restored until that day ... 13/09/2014
And:
The application decreased from 4 GB to 890 MB:
WhattsApp delete all previous media: Fortunately I had backup earlier.
Then i tried to restore chats remotely via the file: "ChatStorage.sqlite"...
But Whatts App show me again the error:
"SEEMS WHATSAPP HAVE PROBLEMS TO READ YOUR HISTORY CHATS. WHATTS APP TRY HIM BACK. IT MAY TAKE SEVERAL MINUTES"
Again reaching the 10% mark mistake .:
"UNFORTUNATELY WHATTS APP COULD NOT RECOVER YOUR HISTORY CHATS, PLEASE RESTORE IR OF ICLOUD"
And again restore chats Whatts App from iCloud (09/13/2014).
Evidently the "ChatStorage.sqlite" file is damaged.
I looking in the PC a file browser for archives *.sqlite but none can open the file saying what was corrupt or damaged.
Only SQLITEADMIN opened it.
I explore cells and all open and all data are in the file, but reaching to de cell "ZWAMESSAGE" (here stay all messages) marks the error:
"SQL ERROR: LOGIC ERROR OR MISSING SQL DATABASE"
If I open "ChatStorage.sqlite" with a hex editor, I can distinguish many parts of the chats.
I tried to form a new file or try to fix it but all my attempts are unsuccessful and upload the file on the phone, and open Whatts App. "SEEMS WHATSAPP HAVE PROBLEMS TO READ YOUR HISTORY CHATS. WHATTS APP TRY HIM BACK. IT MAY TAKE SEVERAL MINUTES". and the cycle repeats.
The data (4GB) are in Icould and the PC but:
When restoring from iCloud is restored but error Whatts App:
"SEEMS WHATSAPP HAVE PROBLEMS TO READ YOUR HISTORY CHATS. WHATTS APP TRY HIM BACK. IT MAY TAKE SEVERAL MINUTES"
When restoring from iTunes is restored but error Whatts App .:
"SEEMS WHATSAPP HAVE PROBLEMS TO READ YOUR HISTORY CHATS. WHATTS APP TRY HIM BACK. IT MAY TAKE SEVERAL MINUTES"
I reiterate that through Hexadecimal editor I can distinguish fragments of conversations but I can not restore to the iPhone chat history because seem the *.sqlite stay corrupt.
Even at the end of the file, i see the last message which i send (before the fall of the phone) and see all conversations that day.
The data are in "ChatStorage.sqlite" the problem is what somehow the file is corrupted and i not know how to fix it.
I hope someone can please help or give me ideas.
I really need chats history again, is very important.
Thank you in advance.

Hey man, I'm an iOS user as well. firstly Are you a technician cause you said you opened the iPhone and fixed the battery.
Secondly, I lost whatsapp messages before. due to update issues. But I couldn't recover any messages cause my Whatsapp went from 500MB to 46MB so I had lost all hopes, fortunately I made an iTools backup so It saved my ass.
So I don't have a solution but a suggestion, always keep backups. u.u
I still use Whatsapp on iOS cause: Lifetime Service

Whatsapp forced the update on me because I was using an older version. Mark ****erberg is being a real jerk. And for that Whatsapp automatically logged me out of Whatsapp and told me to reverify after update. So after updating I reverify and BAM! My Whatsapp message history was done for. But luckily I have a habit of making weekly backups so it saved me. -_- I really hate the fact that Whatsapp is owned by Mark ****erberg now. -_-
Hi there, I hope you are doing well.
I'm quite desperated today. I recently change my phone number because I started a new job (about a week ago) and I also got a new corporate phone for it.
My old Note 8 was sitting in a drawer, as I've tried to make backups and move things over, the past few days. Today, when I went to open WhatsApp there, I got redirected back to the "Send SMS Verification" screen; locking me out of seeing my own messages that are stored in the SQLIte databases (msgstore.db.crypt12) in my own device!
From what I've been reading, the most probably cause is that a new subscriber to the phone company received my old number and created a new WhatsApp account. I know that they won't be seeing my messages, as those are stored in my device and encrypted with.
What I'd need to retrieve is my WhatsApp encryption key, located in /data/data/com.whatsapp/files/key to read my messages, but, obviously, needs root. My phone is not rooted and, from what I've also been reading, if I went to root it with any of the know methods, it would wipe everything and I'd lose that key.
Is there any way in which I can gain root and copy that file, without wiping? If not, is there any way I can create a "low-level" backup that woul ALSO backup that data; to later restore (after rooted). I think that all the common backups in the Play Store will, of course, not be able to access that data to backup. But I don't know about any of the Samsung bloated own apps (like Cloud Backups, Smart Switch, etc.); if those would work in my scenario.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide; looking forward to hear back from you.
Regards.

WhatsApp app itself has to create a backup of the chats.
In WhatsApp settings - Chats - Chat backup.
If you have to change your mobile number, there is a feature in WhatsApp to migrate your data, chats, settings, etc. to your new phone number. And to inform your WhatsApp contacts that you have a new number.
In WhatsApp settings - Account - Change number.
If there is a new WhatsApp account created with your old number, it might be too late now.
Thanks for your inpur @It_ler.
I know that you can migrate the WhatsApp number and how the procedure work. The thing is that WhatsApp deactivates accounts with no activity for more than 120 days and now, when opening it again, it tries to send validation to the phone number that I no longer own. Nobody created a new account with that number; as far as I know, it haven't been reassigned yet to another subscriber. Still, all my chat history is in the device itself, but encrypted with the key I can't get access to without rooting, while rooting hard resets (erases) everything; hence losing said key (catch-22).
Do you know of any way in which I could root or get access to the encryption key without having to delete everything?
Thanks again.

Sorry ... no, I don't
And do not forget to activate automatic chat backup into your Google drive for your new/recent chats.
