Hi guys,
I trust you are doing fine. Well I was wondering would the act of flashing SuperSU and a custon Kernel on the latest MIUI Global Dev ROM prevent me from receiving future updates and on receiving updates would it subsequently wipe SuperSU?
Guys an answer would be very much appreciated.
Thanks!

Hey,
So I usually dont have many questions, but I have not updated my DNA in a very long time Currently I am running
Android Version
4.1.1
Sense Version
Sense 4+
Rom Version
ViperDna 1.3.5
I am running TWRP 2.6.0.0 and I think I am running DSB kernel but really cant remember because its been so long, phone is unlocked and S-ON.
I am looking to update to 3.5.0 which looks to be the latest one available, I have a hard time telling because there is no order in the threads regarding the updates that have been released,
I seen it says that you need TWRP BETA .6 which I have downloaded, and I have already downloaded 3.5.0 Rom.
So now my question is, what kernel do I need in order to install these on my device without issue, and in what order do I need to update them?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
I still have my unlock token bin saved, maybe it would be faster and easier to re lock the phone, update to stock OTA kitkat and then install 3.5.0? Looks like a custom kernel isn't necessary in the install instructions?
Let me know, thanks again in advance
*Bump*

Yes, if I've understood you correctly
I was on the stock nougat Miui (sorry, idk the version of Miui 10) with unlocked bootloader but stock recovery.
Updated to the new stable pie (Miui global stable 10.1.3.0 PEJMIFI) by downloading the firmware and upgrading with System Update through settings
No problems
Edit- said above I was on stock nougat Miui - slip of the brain - meant Oreo obviously, but you knew that!

Hi all,
I recently purchased a Poco F1 and am planning a trajectory for flashing a custom ROM and kernel when the limit expires on unlocking. However, I'm having issues following what is the latest firmware, or MIUI version, or Android release for the unit. Let me explain:
This unit came with a MIUI 9 version that promptly got a two-step OTA to MIUI Global 10 10.0.6.0(OEJMIFH). It is running Android Oreo (8.1.0).
However, discussion in custom ROM threads as late as this week refer to MIUI 10 8.13.x builds and betas being the most recent firmware, and advise to use these firmwares that are based on Android Pie as the base for flashing custom ROMs based on Pie. Despite the older MIUI version number, the Android version is newer.
In addition, there are complaints around the touch performance of this device when using 8.12.x or earlier firmwares that I am not experiencing with this 10.0.6.0 firmware, and I don't want to introduce issues in the process of preparing this unit for a custom ROM.
Basically, I'm not sure what my trajectory should be if I wish to use a MIUI beta ROM, or if I wish to flash something like LineageOS while retaining or updating the touchscreen firmware appropriately. Can I simply unlock the bootloader, flash TWRP, then flash a custom ROM as I have done in the past on other devices? Can I update the touch firmware separately?
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

If you flash a custom ROM over what you have (Oreo), you will retain the existing firmware & modem. If it is compatible with the ROM flashed, you will not have any issues.
It is possible to flash firmware & modem alone at any time if it is available separately.
I'm now being more inclined towards returning to miui but to the global beta.
But updating beta versions erases twrp, also magisk thus forcing me to redo everything again and again.
I haven't tried debloating ROM (now I'm running custom one AEX) so if I update to newer beta would I get all that bloatware back again? So does running a beta require all these background workarounds every week? Or are there any other options.
I also have read about xiaomi.eu roms, would they be a better option than global betas?
Any help is appreciated, been too much frustrated swapping up ROMs
Thanks in advance
Hey guys,
I mangaged to install a custom ROM on my 9s Note (Curtana). Now I want to install the MIUI stock camera (48mp) module because the one which comes with the rom is quite poor on options. I have many confusions about the next steps and hope to find some help. I posted my questions on the thread of the ROM but unfortunatly did not get any response.
My questions are:
Is it correct that I need now to change the stock recovery to a custom one, for example TWRP in order to install custom addons?
Then I need to install Magisk which is used to install this custom ´addons´?
If this both are installed, will I be a SU automatically?
Will my banking apps still work or stuff like Spotify, WhatsApp? It does now on the custom rom which is amazing.
Is it possible to backup the original recovery partition? Then at any point in the future go back to it?
Can I install the stock MIUI ROM 11 or 12 with a custom recovery?
I would be so thankful if somebody could help me!
Cheers,
Cho
1) if you have installed a custom ROM, chances are you did it with a custom recovery.
2) some addons require root privileges, which can be had with magisk
3)yes, having magisk installed successfully means yiu will have rot privileges
4) banking apps, google own safety net checks and magisk are in a constant race of outpacing each other, magisk seems to be loosing now with tighter controls in newer android version. so dont expect your banking apps to work with magisk anymore.
5) it is probable on some devices with mature development not sure with this
6) not in its stock form, usually people build alternate builds of stock ROM that can be flashed with custom recoveries.
