[Guide] Enabling additional LTE Bands on the Galaxy S7 with U firmware - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 Guides, News, & Discussio

Enabling additional LTE Bands on the Galaxy S7 with U firmware (Root not required) (North American Qualcomm S7)
In this guide, I will guide you on the steps that are needed to enable additional LTE bands on your SM-G930U device and allow you to use LTE if your carrier uses an LTE band that is not supported out of the box by the U firmware. This guide may work for the Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, US Cellular and Tracfone variants of the S7. For this guide, I will enable LTE band 17 for use with my local carrier here in Belize.
Ready? Cool!
Disclaimers:
I am not responsible for any bricked devices
Even though this process does not void or trip Knox warranty, you can never be too sure of what can happen, these steps have been done multiple times by me and have not experienced any issues at all.
Follow this guide at your own risk.
Things you will need:
1. Windows PC (Windows Vista, Windows 7/8/10)
2. USB Data Cable
3. USB 2.0 Port (have not tried on a USB 3.0 Port)
4. Samsung USB Drivers
5. Install (disconnect your PC from Internet once installed) CDMA Tool
6. USA Sim Card (Can be from AT&T, T-Mobile, or Tracfone, have not tried with Verizon or Sprint SIMs) With the Android Oreo Update, you no longer need to insert a US based sim card, to enable Diagnostic Mode, just dial *#0808#.
Procedures:
1. Eject your Sim card if it’s not one of the above (If you have a SIM from one of above carriers, skip this step) (UPDATE 8/6/2018, NO LONGER NEEDED TO INSERT US BASED SIM CARD IF YOU ARE ON ANDROID OREO)
2. Insert an AT&T, T-Mobile or Tracfone SIM and wait a few seconds, a pop-up like this one will appear, tap OK. Your Device will reboot after a few minutes. (UPDATE 8/6/2018, NO LONGER NEEDED TO INSERT US BASED SIM CARD IF YOU ARE ON ANDROID OREO)

3. Once Reboot, go to the phone dialer, enter *#0808#, a USB Settings screen like this will appear. Click your home button to go directly to your home screen, do not click back.
4. Remove Sim Card, insert your carrier sim and reboot the device without closing the USB Settings (if your carrier is one of the above skip this step)
5. Once rebooted, click on the app switcher, select usb settings app, tap on DM + MODEM + ADB, tap Reboot. (do not close the USB Settings app yet you will need it again)
PC STEPS
6. Once booted, connect device to PC, wait for it to install all the drivers, verify it on device manager.
7. At this point you should be disconnected from your internet connection. MUST DISCONNECT!
8. Fire up DFS Tools folder on your desktop, double click on Qualcomm Tool
9. It will ask for login but ignore it, select your Samsung Mobile USB Serial port to connect DFS to your device.
10. Click Band Tab>LTE tab>click read, click read again.
11. Check your LTE band you want to enable (do note that some of these bands may not work. For this guide, I will be enabling LTE band 17 (700).
12. Click on write, click yes/ok on warning diag, wait for timer to go down and it writes the changes to your device.
13. Reboot your S7, connect it again to DFS and verify band was written successfully to the NV by going back to the LTE tab and clicking “read”.
14. If the band you enabled stays checked, disconnect your device at this point from PC, if the check goes away, it may mean that band is not supported in the U firmware.
15. Dial *#0011# and verify your device is connected to LTE. See below images:
17. Switch to the USB settings app, select MTP, Tap reboot. Once booted again you can now close it.
18. Say thanks if successful.

I did it, does enabling some of them cause more battery drain? and I've seen posts where people say it could cause hardware problems is that true?

It maybe can cause issues, for me i just enabled one extra band which is band 17. I didn't enable anything else because i don't really need them. My battery seems the same to be honest.

OK, please fill me in, I have u firmware and hotspot and I love it. I rooted my old phones and know enough to probably brick a phone although fortunatly I never have...Knock,knock... Why do I want more LTE bands, I travel over the road all the time and I am constantly in and out of signals, will this help my data, or signal in remote areas or am I totally lost here?

Worked perfectly I'm unlocked now hopefully soon to try for att, have you already rooted the qc1 update I think it's called

Flashing u firmware allows the userof any sim card flash u firmware through Odin and place the sim card desired to use, and it will give a confirmation to restart the device. It will then load into the recovery and setup the sim automatically, WiFi calling features are enabled also

[Request] Verizon Note 2 NV backup.

Hello everybody.
On the AT&T Note 2 side of the forums, a dev is working on enabling all bands on it.
He successfully enabled AWS, so T-mobile AWS is compatible on the AT&T Note 2.
Here is the thread.
Enable AWS band (3g/4g Tmobile) on ATT Note 2 stock baseband
We are still missing the UMTS 900mhz band, but for that he would need to compare and add nv items missing from it.
The only Note 2 according to wikipedia that has the UMTS 900mhz band enabled is the Verizon Note 2.
So I please ask you to make a backup of your qcn and post it here so he can finish this work.
Guide to backup qcn.
How to posted by Joogle
1. Download and Install QPST, version 2.7 build 323. Download files available at http://www.mediafire.com/?nsh7wyw4ssmxd3d
2. Go to hidden menu on phone, dial *#7284#
3. Once in Menu choose the option for USBSettingsMenu, then choose the option RNDIS+DM+MODEM.
4. Hook up the phone to the PC via USB at this time if you haven't already. This option works on STOCK TOUCHWIZ.
5. Go to your PC Control Panel. We need to get into the Device Manager to determine where your phone is being recognized as far as the COM ports. For this, go to System -> Device Manager (on the left) or System -> Hardware -> Device Manager (depends on your Control Panel setup). Anyways, scroll down to Ports (may say Ports & LTP, Serial, depends on version). Anyways, find your phone under it, and take note of the COM# (mine was COM9, yours can and probably will vary). If you have exclamation marks anywhere then install the Samsung drivers and try again.
6. Now go to Start Menu -> All Programs -> QPST -> QPST Configuration
7. Click on the Ports tab. Click on Add New Port, then add your Port# where it says Port and name it something you can remember. Hit OK.
8. Now click on Start Clients -> Software Download. Click on the Backup tab. Make sure your phone is listed under Port. If its not, hit Browse, choose the COM that is your phone, and hit OK. Now where it says QCN File, hit Browse, find a safe spot to store your backup on your PC, and name it. Hit OK. Now hit Start. Make sure backup gets to 100% with no errors.
It will take a couple of minutes for this whole process.
Then you just have to post or send a pm with the qcn backup.
Benefits from this is that in South America and the caribbean like Dominican Republic, some carriers EX: Orange use the UMTS 900mhz band for 3G, so all AT&T Note 2 users only have edge for now.
This would be a great help.
Requests for help go in the Q&A, Help and Troubleshooting section
Thread moved
Sorry for not putting it here.
Anyways, hope somebody post the qcn.
I'll take a try when I get out tonight...
I can't even get the hidden menu to work.
Touchwiz stock dialer.

did this ever get resolved?
Nop.
Still waiting for a verizon qcn.

Ok.

Try this.
Open the keypad and dial *#22745927
Enable hidden menu
Go back to the keypad and dial *#7284#
Click Qualcomm USB Settings
Select RMNET + DM + MODEM and click ok
If that doesn't work
Dial
*#9090#
Pick number 3.
Let me know.
Here it is
I have extracted the qcn file of Verizon Note 2 LTE and attached. I was trying to install ATT qcn file into it but mobile rejects it. Help me use an international sim in my device. I am able to receive gsm data in it but not able to call/text. It says 'NO SERVICE', But data works. Help.. :crying:

QPST Help

First off, thanks for tolerating this somewhat noobish post, but I've searched through almost the whole internet trying to find answers.
Alright, so here's the dealio.
Sprint Galaxy Note 3. UICC unlocked via idoneapp, then used on domestic T-Mobile through GCF settings. I want to enable more bands as described in the following links: here and here.
I get as far as Step 9 in the second link. Then, I go to select a port, and it's not there. OK, so I uncheck the "diagnostic port only" check box, and select COM12 which is what my phone is on. No big deal, right? So I go to read/backup my NV and I start it; it only gets to 12% and says "Could not Communicate in Diagnostic Mode"
That's it. I've tried different USB ports, different USB cables, other USB modes on the phone, I even have a custom kernel. I really hope it's something obvious that I'm doing wrong instead of something that's a niche error.
Thanks, guys.
I ended up being able to read the LTE bands with DFS and write them with QXDM. The only thing is that there is no LTE/GSM/UMTS mode on the phone, so it's either LTE/CDMA or GSM/UMTS for now until I figure out if I can flash some other ROM to it to let it use the other bands, cause right now it only wants to look at band 25.
So I've been trying to flash the N900T MI7 modem/baseband on my N900P but I can never get it to flash in Odin. I've been able to put the modem and non-hlos in flash able zips and flash those but it never shows up. I've also tried to dd the files directly but that doesn't work either. Ideas?
I am impressed it's not bricked yet.

So basically what happened was I found a couple other tools to do what I wanted. First was DFS tool. This works well, because it can both read and write bands to the nv of the phone. I forget what the second was, but it could both read and write the raw value of any given value in the nvram. I'll have to dig through my stuff again if you want to know what the second program was. The fact of the matter is that I was never able to get it working right. The phone always looked at band 25 LTE no matter what bands I turned on/off of the phone.

I never did get QPST to connect to my phone. I think I was able to get it to see the phone at some point, but it would never read anything from it or write anything to it. The program always froze up or something when I tried that. If I could remember the second program I used, I'd share it with you all, but for the life of me, I can't think of it.
Edit: Oh hey, the two programs I used are RIGHT IN MY SECOND POST. lol. Yeah, use DFS tool to read the NV and QXDM to write the NV. It'll save you a whole lot of trouble over doing stuff with QPST.

Yes 4G is the big pb, i found that DFS Tools write 3G bands but for LTE, the issue is in BC Config Div, need SPC code
i tried to find SPC /MSL code but no chance
I will install SPR-N900PVPUBMJ4 rom and after SPR-N900PVPUBMJ3 modem and use DSF tools to set it 000000
hope i will work

Flash the MI3 (that's emm eye three) modem and then use the app included in the zip file to find the MSL code. Here's a link to the zip file: http://bit.ly/1oZDO9t
I was not aware that you could change the MSL code with DFS tools. At least I have a Verizon Note 3 now, so I have a lot more LTE bands than the Sprint version does (although I don't care all that much; I think I may switch to the Nexus 6 soon). But yeah, try the stuff in the zip file from the link, and you should be able to
Find your MSL code
Unlock your phone internationally
Use hidden menus
Most of all, have fun! I know for sure this can be very very frustrating a lot of the time, but if you don't have fun, then I don't think there's much profit in trying stuff like this. Good luck!

I just did it with my Verizon Note 3 on Windows 10, so I know it's not a Windows 10 issue. Also, QPST seemed to work with my Verizon phone but not my Sprint phone. Weird. Make sure you're running QXDM as administrator. Also, I unlocked all of the LTE bands in this way but I can't seem to get LTE from my GSM sim card, even by going into the service mode and enabling all LTE bands.

Yes; for LTE i found in hiddn menu, that they use Tri Bands (25, 26 & 41), so for others bands will not work.
I don't know how i can disable this and force it to use bands 3, 7 20.

I honestly couldn't tell you, and I'm not sure how much help I'm going to be in general. I've tried it on both of my Note 3 phones but have had no confirmed success. Sprint especially is the one carrier that sticks out like a sore thumb, and by association, so do their phones. I've had plenty of frustration on that front, that's for sure.

Maybe. Really they have a method to do anything I would advise against trying to do that, although I'm not sure what harm it could do if you can still get back into download mode. I've tried flashing different versions' firmware to the N900P with no success.

NO 4G/LTE - Baseband Needed (kenzo)

Hello everyone!!
I received my Redmi Note 3 Pro last week. Yesterday, I received Xiaomi message saying I had been allowed to unlock bootloader. I did it, I flashed TWEP and SuperSU.
I was trying to unlock the 800mhz LTE band, although I had LTE with the other banbds, with the tools QPST and QXDM. First of all, I did a backup with QPST, in software download. In QXDM, I edited 06828 line, following this tutorial (http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note/general/unlock-lte-bands-step-step-xiaomi-mi-t3084774), and transforming my original number to make it has LTE 20 band, with an app of Play Store.
What I got is no LTE, when I put the original code, after reboot, it kept without LTE. I flashed miui.eu ROM, later Resurrection Remix and today, fastboot ROM V7.3.2 official with MiFlash, and there is no LTE anymore, except in RR, in which changing the mode from settings, it catched LTE (but no WiFi).
Therefore, I think I need the originao baseband to flash it trhough TWRP or whatever, to make the phone has LTE as it had.
Thanks!!
Regards!!

Showing.

With 2 SIMS, no LTE on any of them. With SIM2 LTE. With SIM1 no LTE.
I also tried this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66889532&postcount=13 But not results at all. After putting another time SIM1, SIM2 gets LTE, but SIM1 doesn´t.
Thanks!!

I finally managed to fix it!!

Dont give up miguel! Are you sure your carrier has active band 20 in your area? I've unlocked extra bands and what I've found is with our note 3SD's we cant check the frequency that our phones are actually using to determine what band we have in our environments. The reading of the incoming frequency(number) isn't built into the software. There is that small disconnect between our roms and the hardware. Unlocking extra LTE bands work. I unlocked all possible extra LTE bands. The problem is I cant tell what bands the carrier I use is using by looking at my phone to see what band its connected on.
The best way to see if band 20 is working is use another phone that doesn't have the hardware to software disconnect. See if the device connected to lte band 20 and if you have connectivity. Then on the note 3 only enable band 20 LTE on line 6828 of sim0. I'm not sure what the value is for only band 20 LTE. Maybe someone can post it.
After you restart the phone, switch the sim to slot 2, go to cellular networks in settings and connect manually to your 4g network. After it connects and before it gets data, pop sim out while phone is on and put the card in sim0 slot. let it load for a few min, and if you don't see anything after like 3 min go to cellular networks and see if you can select the local 4g network that you know works and on band 20. If it cant see the network or doesn't automatically connect then band 20 wont make it past the phone bandpass filter.
A bandpass filter is the only thing that stands between us and being able to receive all frequency of signal: https://www.google.com/search?q=bandpass+filter&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8
If the filter is infact the reason our unlocking full bands doesn't work then I need someone to link a bandpass filter from ebay that will allow the extra lte bands and write a short tutorial on how to solder in the new filter.
I think unlocking bands the way the hardware currently is already works. I'm not in a location to be able to test my successful lte bands unlock until next month when I'll be on AT&T.
Good luck and please PM me any new information on nv memory hacking on redmi note 3's. I am very interested.
Any progress? I can't test Band 20 because my provider doesn't support it.

when the phone is booted up go to developer options, turn on usb debugging. Go to notification bar, turn off MTP mode. The phone should say, connected as installer. Then you go to your adb folder and open a command prompt and put in the three commands, one at a time.

[GUIDE] Band unlocking for OP2

After reading through the OPO thread and someone confirming they saw bands unlocked for their OP2, but could not test if they are working as well as reading through the OP3 and similar threads with our processor I finally delved into trying this. Here is the quick guide of how to do it. Sorry if there is any confusion I will try my best to make it concise as possible. This is my first time writing a guide up for XDA.
I have not been able to test each band to confirm it's working, but it is showing up in Network Guru. I am on AT&T so I only unlocked AT&T bands (bc that's all I care about currently and it makes it easier for me to test)
I WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE IF SOMETHING WRONG HAPPENS TO YOUR DEVICE BY FOLLOWING THIS GUIDE!
Credit: All my fellow XDA'rs who have been diligently testing, experimenting, bricking/unbricking, creating ROMs, FLASH, Root ability, and Bootloader unlocking. You are the heart and soul of XDA!
[URL="https://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=4066277" @otonieru[/URL] for the concise guide
[URL="https://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=7846474" @baskaflyfer[/URL] Rmt Storage Patch Zip
Here is the OP3 thread I based this guide off of and credit to all those mentioned in there as getting this far would have been impossible without them: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/guide-unlock-additional-lte-bands-t3519563
OKAY:
PreReq's:
1. Rooted
2. TWRP or like
3. RMT Storage patch from OP3 forums: SEE POST BELOW!
4. DFS Explorer - Find via searching XDA, again checking OP3 thread or OPO
5. ADB installed (whether that be minimal ADB or like from other toolboxes out there)
6. QPST - Check forums for download
Guide:
1. Put phone in MTP mode if not default (Some default to charge mode) Just go to status bar and press the charging mode to change to file transfer
2. Place file from PRE-REQ #3 in a folder you'll remember
3. Reboot phone (or shut down) and when coming on hold Vol Down+Power for a few seconds and let go
4. Boot into TWRP
5. Backup (If you don't have a backup of EVERYTHING at this point, probably a good idea to do so)
---If you do take only EFS
And install file from #3
6. Restart into System
7. Open up your CMD and run this ADB command :
adb devices
adb shell
su (you will get pop up on your phone to give root authorization for ADB, authorize it)
setprop sys.usb.config diag, adb (this will open your OP3 diagnostic port)
Click to collapse
This forces it into DIAG mode, check your Device Manager to see if you see a port connection displaying a COM PORT.. IF NOT, you need to install drivers--Search thread for drivers, likely will be find in original OPO or OP3 thread.
***********THIS SECTION IS PURELY PRECAUTIONARY*********************** SKIP TO 11 IF YOU WANT
Purely precautionary we did not have to restore any QCN as they do in OP3 due to encryption:
8. Install QPST, open QPST
Now fire up QPST and go to "Port" tab, and choose "Add New Port" ,
9. On "Serial/USB Port" tab, unchecked the option of "Show Serial & USB...bl bla bla" option, you will see your phone listed there as a "COM#" (# is a number depending on your PC) choose it, and click "OK"
10. Now choose "Start Clients" from the Menu tab above, and choose "Software Download"
**********************************************************************************
11. CLOSE QPST. Open up DFS Explorer, when the signup option comes up it is up to you whether or not you want to register for an account (Good to support them since it's a good application) If not, press the X and the app will be there
12. You should see your PORT listed as you did on QPST. Double click on it (If you can't; confirm QPST is closed otherwise you won't be able to connect to the port) You should see it turn green and highlighted ONLINE if you successfully connected
13. Go to the "Band" option then click on "LTE"
14. Press READ; Give it a second and you should see all currently enabled bands listed; If you want to compare you can go to "Network Guru" and press the 3 dots on the top right and press Band Locking and then press LTE.. Should list the same ones
15. Check the additional bands (Just because it says it's enabled, doesn't mean hardware wise it will work due to chipset hardware limitations; This is why as you all do this if you can confirm which bands for you connected and/or didn't connect we can keep a running list.)
16. Press "Write"
17. Since we're in Demo mode it will count down and then in the LOG box you'll see operation successful
18. Restart the phone at this point and disconnect the cable
19. Wait until it boots up again and go to "Network Guru" press the 3 dots again and go to Band Locking and you should see the new bands listed
*If you don't press the 3 dots and press Clear forcings and it'll prompt that a power cycle may occur; That's okay, let it, mine did, wait until the phone comes back up and repeat 19 and the new bands should be listed.
20. LET US KNOW ON THIS THREAD what bands are working, what aren't. It will allow us to further play with the device to discover if there's limitations or if further editing is required like in the OP3.
*Please press THANK YOU if this guide was helpful.
**Sorry for the missing of some info in the guide! Seems when I added the HYPERLINK it removed most of the other text before it so it started at #4 instead of the remainder of #1-3

usb debugging should be enabled i think, you didn't mentioned that. " (this will open your OP3 diagnostic port)" and here should be op2 i think. thanks for thread, i have a2005 and want to unlock 20 band(800mhz), will try asap, now i have exams running out of time. btw, so the risk of breaking phone is low right, this steps only modify EFS partition only? so hybrid recovery and flashfire can backup/restore if enything goes wrong
What is the benefit from this? Better reception?

Still something is missing
Hi, I think something is missing. Let me describe what I have done on a A2005:
1- I downloaded the rmt_storage from the link provided on Pre-reqs #3.
2- I backed up EFS, installed the patched rmt_storage, reboot into system.
3- I installed the modified HTC modem driver as unsigned driver, did the adb diag port commands, and the phone is recognized by DFS.
4- On DFS, I must click on SPC 000000 since the log shows errors. I'm not sure if a specific SPC value is required ***
5- When I click on Read, it captures the values, I wanted to add Band 3 (1800) so I checked it and then clicked on write. The logs showed that the write was successful.
6- I restart the phone, connect it and load adb diag port commands again, load DFS, click on read and the values stay
7- When I open Network Guru on locked LTE bands, the list shows me the previous one, as if nothing has been written. I restarted the phone already several times, still no LTE on Band 3.
Besides the SPC code, I might think that:
- The rmt_storage somehow it's not working
- DFS keeps the values but they are not reflected into Network Guru or phone. I already set 4G/3G/2G enabled on the connectivity options. No changes
- Maybe there is another value that needs to be changed with another tool such as QXDM
Any help would be very appreciated!!!

the guide forget to mention that u need to flash rmt storage patch before do any modification,
else no mod will be saved (will revert upon boot)
the patch is in my OP3 thread
Thanks! So today's update:
1- I connected the phone again, ran adb commands, reviewed the bands again on DFS tool and settings stayed. I'm pursuing to enable Band 3
2- I uninstalled Network Signal Guru
3- On Recovery, flashed again the patched rmt_storage, boot the phone, wrote the values again on DFS tool. Reboot phone
4- I installed Network Signal Guru and now it's showing up on the bands lists. I unchecked the bands default on A2005 and used the ones from Eruper/Asia Model as FDD-LTE: Bands 1/3/5/7/8/20 and TDD-LTE: Bands 38/40/41. My provider in Costa Rica (Movistar) uses Band 3 (1800) for their LTE. I clicked on Band locking, clicked on GSM and WDCMA and removed all checks. Then clicked on LTE and left all LTE bands in hopes that it will connect to that frequency. The list shows:
B1: 2100
B3: 1800+
B5: 850
B7: 2600
B8: 900 GSM
B20: 800 DD
B38: TDD2600
B40: TDD 2300
B41: TDD 2500
When I only picked LTE bands as checked, it never resovled to get connected to any cell base.
5- I dialed *#*#4636#*#* to access the information about the phone and monitored the signal setting it up to "LTE Only". No signal on that either
Top of my head, I will restore the qcn backup I made and restore the backup I made for EFS and start again. Now it's saving values after reboot, which is great, but not identifying anything.
Is there any log worth posting here? I read on the OP3 guide that they were restoring a qcn file with bands enabled. Is it worth trying the same?
Anyone that has LTE band 3 enabled would be very appreciated if they post their qcn backup

I have not been able to further test as all the phones I compare to that are also AT&T ie: AT&T S6 are connected to the same Bands as me so cannot test til I get to an area where other bands are available currently. Will report back as I can test, but was hoping others can test in the mean time as well.

You shouldn't need to restore any QCN or EFS, just re-check the bands you unchecked and it should pickup all the bands again. Also, confirm your APN is correct to be used with LTE?
Did you get ANY LTE Bands before this mod? Or you only have LTE on Band3?
You can use RAT locking to enable LTE Only rather than unchecking all the WCDMA and GSM bands. that way it'll force LTE, if it doesn't go to the Cellular Network tab and press the Preferred NETWORK to go to LTE ONLY.
sadly for me nothing happened, i have a2005 and want to add band 3 and band 20, did everything 2-3 times whats in a guide, everything went well, write process was comlete but bands didn't added
When you say didn't add, you don't see them in network guru or you see then, but unable to catch signal on them?

in the past other users sent me qcn/qcnx files of the EU and CN models ( credit: whoever sent me these files from the old thread ) - I hope this help you out.
keep up the good work ! :good:

Have you tried what we said here? And tried to see if you can band lock on 3?
I'm going to see the qcn based off of the op3 guide as well as they had to do qcn restoring.

not yet...it will take me some time, i'm a master's student in exam period.
nontheless, as you can see from the old forum, i'm really interested in opening LTE band 3 on my A2005.
Thanks guys! I live in Venezuela and we use band 3 for LTE and I have the EU version. I'll try this guide today
EDIT: I tried without success, I did all the process but i do not have LTE signal on Band 3. On Network Guru, Band 3 appears as supported. I tried RAT locking but It keeps without signal.

Thank you for the qcn files. I've tried it, and it overwrites my imei, which is expected. Then I tried to replace the imei with mine by hex editor, but flashing the modified qcn still overwrites my imei. We may get into the same trouble with op3, which is the imei encryption.

Freedompop on sprint note 3

OK so freedompop is an app that lets you call, text, and get data for free. They also include a sim card, but you need to make an account and order it. Add your credit card to make account, once you get it make sure to call them and tell them you want to be on the free service, i got some special that gave sim card plus unlimited call and text with 2gb for 5 dollars. Once you make an account go ahead and go to your sim port and remove sim(easly done by taking a small flat head at 20 degree angle to push sim out, the you can use your finger to push it down or get another small flat head and grab from both sides to pull out). It will say invalid sim.....now thanks to darksavior, this is what i did and the idoneapps gt
Rooted
Step
1. Open up odin, click options and select nand erase all if you want, then click ap and select the N900PVPUDNH7_N900PSPTDNH7_N900PVPUDNH7_HOME.tar. Connect your phone in odin mode(power down, hold volume down, home button, and power button, press up to accept and your in odin mode) then hit start untill your phone reboots
2. Mine gets stuck at the samsung logo so what you do is go to recovery mode(power down, hold volume up, home, power)get to factory reset and reboot. 5 mins later it should say setting up phone for first time, this may take 5 to 10 mins.
3. Congrats, your on stock rom. Invalid sim and attempting to activate phone should pop up, you click active and it will say failed and hit exit. Power back down to odin mode
4. Click ap again and choose the CF-Auto-Root-hltespr-hltespr-smn900p.tar file, it will restart and root, when the message appears 10 seconds to restart try to go into odin mode again and choose the twrp-2.8.7.0-hlte-4.4.img(this is the verision needed to install most roms nowadays) and install twrp. Go to recovery mode, wipe, advance wipe, select delvik cache and cache, then reboot to system. Power off phone again and go into odin mode last time, and click CP button and choose the modem.bin file and reboot to system.
5. put the GTv3.1.5.apk in root of your sd or phone so you can find it. So we need to go to settings, general, security, check mark unknown sources and discheck verify apps. go on apps, samsung, my files, all, choose where you put your file, and click on it, then hit install, open, grant root access, it should say Baseband: N900PVPUBMJ4 and Bootloader: N900PVPUDNH7
6. Click sim uicc unlock, success, and should show UNLOCKED. Click the off button on hiddenmenu and it should turn on, click the IOTHIDDENMENU button on bottom of screen, TestMode Menu, UE SETTINGS AND INFO, SETTINGS, PROTOCOL, GCF, GSM/(E)GPRS/WCDMA GCF ON, success, restart phone to see At&t at bottom
7. Settings, connections, more networks, mobile networks, network mode, Gsm/umts, automatic, then access point names, plus sign, name what ever you want, apn fp.com.attz (or what ever it says in envople your sim came in) the button on the left from home button, save, and click the circle so its green.
8. Turn on your wifi and go to playstore to download the freedompop messaging phone sim app, open it up, it should read your sim and sign you in. Turn off your wifi and you should see an H+ network. Thats it your on freedompop now
9. Since this is older firmware i looked and saw developers stopped making roms for this back in 2014, so your pretty much stuck on this firmware but its not so bad your rooted. So what i did was install System app remover (ROOT) from play store and removed the annoying samsung dms service to get rid of the activation screen and anything else i didnt want on the phone.
Bonus, my 3 year old orginal samsung battery went crazy and kinda got fat. So i ordered another orginal oem note 3 battery because ive tested batterys through AccuBattery app and found out batterys lie about their mAh size orginals dont. Anyways got the new battery, used the battery repair on it, and advanced battery calibrator app, (calabrate, ok, close ad, shut down, charge to 100%) so now my freedom pop working and brand new battery
and here is link to all files from google drive https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B9MVYh1yVnznNzhQeWxtUTJhZnM?usp=sharing
Yes, it works. I sim unlocked my note 3 for domestic use without sprint's help. I did it two weeks ago. My phone now gets LTE gsm through freedompop's gsm sim. There's two threads in the general note 3 sprint section to read up on, but this might be the simpler one:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-sprint/general/sprint-galaxy-note-3-international-t3339789
The tutorial needs to be re-written. The goal is to be on NH7 bootloader, 4.4 rom, and MJ4 modem. Galaxy tools will unlock the sim only on 4.4 and it only needs to be done once. I installed NH7 stock rom, rooted, then installed MJ4 modem. You won't be able to use sprint roms anymore after you're done altering stuff in the hidden menu. It will have trouble getting a gsm signal. I am on a note 7 ported rom from the main note 3 section. You can try any others if you want.
Here's the corrections from the tutorial thread:
Step 1: Do NOT install the cf-auto root recovery from that thread, since its meant for lollipop, and it won't work on kk.
Step 2: You only need GT 3.1.5 apk
Step 3: You only need MJ4
Step 4: You need to be on a 4.4 rom to do this.
Step 5: You can open the hidden menu with GT. No need to open the phone app and dial to get it.
If that doesn't work, I also installed the regionlock away app and changed some other settings of the hidden menu from the other sim unlock thread. I'm not sure if that makes a difference.
Ill try this. So from what i understand. Download stock NH7 rom from sammobile, root, install gt apk, flash the mj4 modem, and follow the directions on gt apk

Sounds right. Also install twrp 2.8.7.0 recovery so you can install a rom from https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3
It has to be that version because newer versions have issues with roms that use aroma installers.

Are you on the MJ4 modem? I installed that after i unlocked my sim and the invalid sim msg went away. I rooted with kingoroot on pc. There might be alternate ways but that seemed to work.
You can also try the method from https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2593305

Fp uses the att network. Make an apn with fp.com.attz then download the fp messaging app. It should give you a notification of your phone number. If the connection is unstable, use another rom.
ok i will try again, i did all those steps without the modom. I installed the modom last and was on at&t...then i installed rom and said invalid sim xD so ill try again the right way. it should no longer say invalid sim any more at all right? and i dont need to select the gsm network or lte cmda? just once it shows at&t at bottom make the apn?

Make sure you're on the correct bootloader and modem. It shouldn't say that anymore. As i said, you can also try the other tutorial that has a bit more stuff to edit in hidden menu. Use GT to access it.
You can try the regionlock away apk.
What darklord rom are you on? Darklord roms tend to be junk compared to the new note 7 ports.
Phronesis might work but I'm on a norma note 7 port, installed with tmobile option(not sure if that helps), and mobile networks I did not touch. It was set to auto (lte/3g/2g)
Ill try the tmobile option also, it doesnt have at&t option from install
So region lockaway didnt do anything, i try click unlock from gt and it asks for a code. I did the dial and domestic unlock but it also didnt do anything
Unless....i can only use 4.4 roms
I tried "FREEDOMPOP(CDMA sprint sim LTE)" on "MM 6.0.1 Darklord Modded V5 By JCordero31 N5N7 APPS 1/22/17" with MVNOBuzbee.zip
but it did not work. MVNOBuzbee.zip might need edited but i just decided to move on.
So then...is just this rom not working with or i need be on any 4.4 rom

You are not on the correct bootloader or modem. That's why it got locked again. Also, you can't unlock on a LP rom, so you''ll get that window for a code. So let me repeat myself:
You have to be on NH7 and MJ4 and a 4.4 rom to unlock sim. you HAVE to stay on NH7 and MJ4 FOREVER in order for the sim unlock to stick. You don't have to stay on the 4.4 rom. NEVER flash a stock rom again since it will flash its own bl and modem, in your case, PH1.
You undid all your work by flashing a stock rom...
Ok i can live with that. So as long as modem and bootloader stay same...i can unlock, then flash any 4.4 rom and not have ti redo all this?
