I've flashed the TWRP from the official TWRP downloads and am trying to install the LineageOS beta, using the img for SGP621 (LTE version of Z3TC) but TWRP claims I have a scorpion_windy and refuses to flash. Is there a specific scorpion (non-windy) version of TWRP? I see that the TWRP download page specifically says "TWRP for Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact Wi-Fi" but I haven't found any other official TWRP for the Z3TC.
OK, so I've found some multirom img files for the non-windy scorpion but they will not start. With the official windy TWRP, I just flash that ro FOTAKernel with fastboot and then I can start it by holding down VolDown when starting. WIth the unofficial ones nothing happens, the device just boots to the Sony logo and then to stock software. Is there a special trick to flashing the unofficial multirom TWRP images?
If anyone is looking, found this and will try it. It boots as expected to TWRP with Volume+ dusing the sony logo.
What are you on? Marshmallow or Lollipop?

Hi, I've my ZU with CM12. If I try to boot into recovery, the phone loop at SONY logo. When i run TWRP Manager, it shows:
App Version: 9.0
TWRP Version: TWRP 2.8.7.0
If i tap in Install TWRP:
Device Name: Sony Xperia Z Ultra
Recovery Installed: TWRP 2.8.7.0
If i select to install another version, for example twrp-2.8.5.0 thats it's the hightest in the list, the file is downloaded, and shows:
Code:
[B]Something went wrong[/B]
Flashing recovery was unsuccessful. Either you already have this recovery installed or another error has occurred. Would you like to attemp rebooting to recovery now?
If i tap in REBOOT NOW the phone loops at SONY logo again. How i can fix it?

Hello guys,
I have the SGP321 running on android 5.1.1. It is rooted with SuperSU and I installed TWRP via [NUT]'s XZDualRecovery. When I try to flash Resurrection Remix (same error with LineageOS 14.1 btw) the installation fails with error: execute updater binary in zip. Two lines above (but not in red text) it says that this rom is meant to be installed on a SGP321 (which I have) but my device is a [empty space]. I don't know if this has something to do with the mentioned error. A Google search led me to posts with the same error, but mostly on the OP One and the Moto G4. They say that you have to update the bootloader. Has anyone experienced the same problems with their Xperia TabZ and has found a solution to this?

Recovery 2.8.7.0 is not compatible with with the lastest custom firmwares like android 7.1.2 or 8.1.
To flash them successfully you need to flash recovery version at least 3.2.1.x to your device.

Good to know, thank you! How can I flash the newer version of TWRP? I tried to flash via Fastboot but get the error "FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)". I think this is because Sony's devices don't have a recovery partition.

Use Rashr tool.
Download twrp.img from the link above. Flash it to recovery via Rashr and reboot. After you can enter it via Vol+ on boot.
Rashr says I need a FOTA kernel partition, how do I get that? Thank you for your help, hope that this was my last question
EDIT:
OK I tried different things with Rashr. I uninstalled XZDualRecovery with the flashable zip and flashed full stock rom 5.1.1 with Flashtool and rooted it again. I was not able to install the latest twrp by any means using Rashr.
I found another solution:
1. I installed (again) XZDualRecovery and booted into TWRP 2.8
2. I flashed the Marshmallow Version of Resurrection Remix (https://forum.xda-developers.com/xp...pment/rom-resurrection-remix-m-5-7-3-t3440876) --> This installed the CM-Recovery (Vol-) AND TWRP 3.2.1 (Vol+)
3. Booted into TWRP 3.2.1
4. Successfully flashed an Android 8.1 Rom
Dear everybody.
My phone is Sony Xperia Z Ultra C6802,
Android 5.1.1
Build Nuber : 14.6.A.1.236
One day i want to flash a custom recovery for my Z Ultra amd replace Stock recovery. So I unlocked bootloader and then flash TWRP recovery using adb. I choose TWRP 2.8.7 .0 and after flash complete, i reboot device and enter recovery mode. BUT when TWRP main screen appear, I cant touch or swipe or do any thing on screen. I guest that have something related to new touch drive or something like that. So i try some other TWRP version such as V3.0 or some lower version. But second problem is I cant override TWRP 2.8.7. Althought in adb screen notice that the process successfull. I using "fastboot clear recovery" command and then "fastboot flash recovery xxx.img". All process done successfully but when enter the recovery mode, TWRP 2.8.7 still there like a charm without touch or swipe (lol).
So anyone can support me for this :
1. Why i cant touch in TWRP screen, what i have to do now
2. Why i cant flash other version of TWRP to override current version (TWRP 2.8.7.0)
My phone is Sony Xperia Z Ultra C6802,
Android 5.1.1
Build Nuber : 14.6.A.1.236
Thanks.

I have problem with twrp. I flashed it and flash lineage os with gapps but then before reboot i had an alert that "no os installed" Afted reboot i had problem to open twrp but when i did it i had this alert again. so i leave it and after some hours i flashed one more time lineage os but without gapps because still was alert but after reboot the lineage OS started. Now when i want to open recovery mode to twrp i see only recovery mode from lineage and i do not know how to install now twrp Can anyone help me? I am learning this still :3
I had same problem with not being able to permanantely install TWRP on my XA2 Ultra with LineageOs16.
All I found out with google is that because the XA2 Ultra is A/B slot based, you need to temporarily boot the twrp image and then install the twrp zip file via the temporary twrp recovery.
BUT......I cannot find a seperate twrp zip file for the XA2 Ultra!!!!
So i am left with just having to temporarily boot into the twrp image when i want to use it!!! that sucks!!
If anyone has any solutions to permanantly install TWRP for the Xperia XA2 Ultra, then please advise...
Thanks to all,
Jake

So I am a total noob. Never rooted a device before. The only reason I'm doing it is cos my kid wants to do gps spoofing with pokemon go. I have already made a mistake as I have unlocked the bootloader without backing up the DRM keys. Now Im tyring to install twrp. On most tutorials it looks straight forward but on the TWRP official site it says....
The Xperia devices have a recovery-in-boot arrangement. This means that the recovery is booted using the regular kernel / boot image in the device. Team Win has worked with the FreeXperia device maintainers to come up with a way to extract the ramdisk from the FOTAKernel partition and use the ramdisk from that partition instead of the recovery that is included in the boot image of your device. This means that if you install current CM nightlies and flash TWRP to the FOTAKernel partition, you will be able to use TWRP instead of the CWM or CM recovery that normally comes in a CM boot image. Other boot images including stock kernels can be repacked to include this extraction utility to allow you to use TWRP from the FOTAKernel partition. This setup allows you to choose what recovery you want to have installed and allows you to update your recovery more easily. Unfortunately this setup requires that the boot image that you have installed include the ramdisk extraction utility. The source for this utility is here:
I really don't know what any of this means. Ive downloaded the utility but have no idea how to use it.
Oh and I also have a xperia z3 tablet sgp611.
