Hello all.
My Xperia X10 Mini Pro is stuck on bootloop as you can see on this video
http://youtu.be/EhaBn0uuSvE
It just got like that from one moment to the other..I was using stock ROM
I tried to flash with Flashtool with these ROMs
U20a_2.1udpt1_Generic
ST17i-Active_4.1.B.0.431-1254-6360_SONY
On the first ROM it gets 100% successfull but still cant boot !
This phone was bought on Portugal, so I dont know if the ROM makes any difference..
Need some advice please !
I've read somewhere that Gordon's Gate (part of Flashtool) can still access a phone even when it bootloops.
Could you document what steps you already took? Perhaps link to the article you followed? (Below is a list of certain steps one usually takes when installing custom ROMS, but they are by no means always necessary, could you perhaps indicate what you already did?)
Rooted Yes/No/Not Sure
ClockWorkMod installed Yes/No/Not Sure
Unlocked bootloader Yes/No/Not Sure
Custom kernel Yes/No/Not Sure
The location of where the phone was bought will not make a lot of difference for the ROM. It might affect things like hardware keyboard layouts, but there are fixes available for those. But things like specific baseband and firmware are still important. By carefully reading the description, you can usually check if your phone can be used.
To be honest, I only have used Flashtool to flash new kernels to my X10 Mini Pro, for just installing another ROM I use ClockWorkMod.
What you can try:
Unbrick through SEUS: here (video)
I've read about people unbricking their devices with PC Companion, here.
If you should be able to regain access to the phone and still want to tinker:
This ROM works nice with the stock kernel
Later, you could unlock the bootloader, flash custom kernels (nAa ICS 04) and install ROMS needing such custom kernels (the U20 ICS ROMS, like MiniCM9)
Should you feel the need to ever unlock the bootloader, use this tool
Cheers and thanks for your post !
I used SEUS and updated to latest firmware but still no success on booting. It stills the same...
Rooted No
ClockWorkMod installed No
Unlocked bootloader No
Custom kernel Not Sure
Any chance that you can point me a stock rom and stock kernel to see if it boots that way?

Don't update, repair... leave your phone unplugged when SEUS searches for updates, it can't recognise your phone when it's not connected and will give you a repair option. choose that, and make sure you select your phone from the list presented. it will then flash original kernel and firmware to your phone.
Don't know which kernel you flashed before you got this bootloop, but the second rom you mentioned in your opening post isn't even for your phone, so i guess you got confused with what goes for your phone. You don't even get a kernel logo, so i guess you flashed a kernel for a different model altogether, or your stock kernel got corrupted. a repair should fix it.
I'm now updating on PC Companion like belgianguy said
If unsuccessfull I'll follow your instructions, thanks a lot in advance !
Same on PC Companion..no boot !
SmG67, I dont see any repair option on SEUS. It detects the phone and says thar it's updated. If I remove the battery while is searching my phone it keeps saying that it's updated. What am I doing wrong ?
On PC Companion I got the Repair option, it repaired, but...surprise...still can't boot !

That's a shame... because you now have all official sony ericsson firmware on your phone, kernel and rom... If it's still not booting the kernel, there's nothing you can do about it, maybe a repair-shop might be able to fix it.
Well, a repair-shop isnt able to fix it because the mini-usb port has bad contact and they consider this phone out of warranty because of that ! It almost never happens that bad contact..

Well if it's that far gone it might very well be a hardware issue. But just to be sure, could you start Flashtool and see if it still recognizes the device (see screenshot of what I see).
If it isn't able to, an older version of s1tool had an IDENTIFY option that required you plug the USB cable into the computer (but not in the phone), to shut down the phone, then push the BACK button and then plug the usb cable into the phone.
The bad contact you mentioned might be causing troubke as well, are you sure it isn't the cable that is at fault? Perhaps try to attach the USB cable in such a way that its not stressed and so that the phone cannot move (to prevent it from disconnecting due to a bad contact). Your flashes very well might have gone faulty because of that. But then again, the SEUS/PC Companion flashes seem to have succeeded, so hopefully Flashtool can shed some light here.
Gentlemen, I couldn't find a section for Xperia Pro, please excuse me if this is misplaced.
I rooted my MK16i from ICS 4.0. according to a guide here on XDA forum, with no problems (from 4.1.a.435 .. i think).*
Then I installed system tuner and backed up the bloatware and what I believed was obviously named as packages that support them. Things were working great and the phone gained some performance improvements.
UNTIL, I installed Viber and Skype, and niether were working. I thought I would fix it by restoring all the backed up services and apps. Once I did that and rebooted the phone, it became useless
THe phone keeps rebooting. I get to the XPERIA loading screen and then it restarts again
I tried to connect it to the PC to flash another ROM with the Flashtool, but it is not recognized. All I get is in the computer screen a removable disk drive, that is not accessible.
Note: I didnt update the firmware after I rooted.
Can anybody help?
have you worked with flashtool before ? because there hardly could be any wrong with flashtool. use the latest version with proper drivers.
and since you have rooted phone, have you unlocked your bootloader ? if yes, then flash any custom kernel, go to CWM, then place rom zip on sdcard and stright flash rom via CWM.
flashtool should work though. you can try on different computer.
If flashing a kernel or installing custom ROM sounds a bit out-of-reach, you can always go for the repair option in PC Companion. It worked for me when I had soft-bricked my Neo V (it wouldn't go past the SONY logo). However, be advised that this repair option will erase your phone's internal memory. Also, your phone will be brought on the latest stock ROM, so you will need to root your phone again.
Good Luck!!! :good:

I tried to do somethingn like this but sony companion itself cannot detect the phone either.
My question is, is there a brick that cannot be fixed? I took it to a shop today and still they cannot fix it.
Have you tried to use sony update service?
How are you connecting your phone to flashtool?
Can you show us log from flashtool?
New development:
Now I tried to flash the phone with flashtool 32bit rather than 64-bit and it detected the phone! I could even flash the only firmware in Aeonworld's post Here.
Now I can see the phone connected in my computer.
However, the phone still won't boot but when I power on it gives black screen and after a short while, the led on the side becomes green.
For some reason though, I cannot continue with the rooting steps in his guide.
So anyways, after the second reboot, not the first for some reason, the phone gets detected in PC Companion, and I installed the update and now it is working again :victory:
Thank you all for your support.

Good to hear that bro!!! R&D always makes a man better
I was using XZXperience 2 on my Sony Xperia S, and then sony companion detected that i had firmware 6.1.A.1.45 and 6.1.A.55 was available, so just to give it a try, I installed that update, but that is a failed update, it says unfortunately music player stopped working, or unfortunately xperia keyboard stopped working etc. The main problem is that my system does not recognize my XS anymore, it says USB Device Not Recognized, so I cant connect it to Flashtool or PC Companion for repair. The Sad part is that I cant even connect it in Flash Mode, I tried a hard reset by using power button and volume up buttons, but no use. I should mention that once it recognized my phone when i turned off my laptop and removed its battery too, after restarting both phone and laptop, flashtool detected that phone was connected with USB Debugging OFF, though it was on, but as a try, I unchecked USB Debugging and then checked it again, and it worked. Now my Xperia S was connected in USB debugging mode, I tried to install busybox, rooted it, and tried to install CWM recovery, flashtool said that busy box was installed and phone was rooted, but it could not install recovery and I used another tool to install recovery, which had a bat file and it installs recovery automatically. But it didnt. After restarting my phone, the same issue appeared again, My PC does not recognize my Xperia S, tried previous procedure several times, but no use. Cant even repair it as my set cant go in flash mode. What can I do? have I bricked my Xperia S? I`m in Pakistan and there is no official Sony Mobile franchise as they dont launch their flagships in Pakistan. Please help me, considering I`m used to with rooting, flashing etc. How can I connect my phone in flash mode? Thank you.
Thanx

It looks like another strike from the productors. They usually send you malicious updates which cause your device to stop working. This only happens to rooted phones which run custom roms. And since the rooted users only flash their roms in zip format, sending an OTA update patch(designed for stock rom) to a custom rom can only lead to a malfunction. I am not sure whether or not sony did that on purpose, but the truth is that after installing a custom rom NEVER do OTA updates(unless they are from the rom's developer).
If you want an update check your rom's thread and there may be new flashable versions.
As for making your device work, the only thing you can do is to call technical support or go to a phone service(in my country they are called gsm services, and they fix mostly everything, both hardware and software. Some even claim to be able to fix water damage) but given that your warranty is voided, you will have to pay for the reparations. I guess they will only do a re-soft(delete everything, and install the stock version, you may lose your root, i am not sure here.)
I hope this helps, this is how we fix things like this in our country, so it will work in your case too, hopefully.

Thanx for your advice. I was almost hopeless, but after spending continous 16 hours, I`m now able to get a solution. I got another data cable, removed battery of my laptop, and made a hard reset to my phone, and after 10-15 min I tried again, and Thanx GOD, it detected my phone, so I hurriedly start repair my phone option and connected my phone in flash mode which was successful and that was not less than a miracle, because i`ve been repeating same procedure and it was not working, this time luckily it worked, now i`m using stock rom with firmware 6.1.A.2.55. Now I would either wait for official Sony JB Update or I would flash a custom ROM XZXperience 2, which I found awsome, as it had no bugs, and it improved battery and sound quality was significantly imrpove + Bravia Engine 2 with improved graphics. I would ask users to not to give up hope, there is always a solution to every problem.

Get a new data cable, fortunately almost all phone now a days have same data cable, u can try data cable of some HTC, Samsung, Blackberry or even Iphone`s data cable. Secondly, u must turn off your PC, and remove its power source, if it is laptop then also remove its battery. Then after 5-10 minutes, turn on your PC and connect the phone. Also try installing drivers, which u can by using PC Companion. You can also install drivers by using FlashTool. Download it and extract it, then go to the installation folder and look for folder "Drivers" open it and u will see an exe file. Just run it and select Xperia S and follow the instructions.
maybe not new usb cable sometimes usb port is broken
Hey, I had the same problem a few time ago, you can try to restore with flashtool, if you can still get in to flash mode

There's nothing strange: you are using a custom kernel and you have locked bootloader
It's impossible it could work
You need to flash official stock rom to boot up

Since you CAN'T use custom kernels with locked bootloader (and so, no cm10)
You only need to flash stock rom and then relocking your bootloader

I am also having the same problem
I have sony Xperia S. I updated to the latest stock firmware version(6.2.B.1.96). after this update I rooted my phone using old kernel .200 and update the firmware's kernel again to stock after that I locked the boot loader again. Now I can't use memory stick that I used to use before with OTG cable. And now, if I am trying to enter flash mode by pressing volume down key, the led turn green for a while only about 10 sec while this was happening, my pc say that USB device not recognized. So, now I can't use flashtool or sony update service tool(SUS) as well.
Now I am using stock .96 rom with no error but I want to install CWM and also want to unlock boot loader again to test some custom roms.
Pls help me what I have to do and what should. I am now in Delhi.

To unlock the bootloader you need to enter fastboot (blue led) with vol+ during the boot, not vol-
Or you can also reboot the phone from adb with
adb reboot bootloader
If phone still doesn't stick to fastboot, it has to be a driver problem
There are lots of guide on the procedure (which is really hard on windows 8)

now. I can't use memory stick with OTG cable but I can only use mouse or keyboard with OTG cable. I don't know why?
I can access fastboot mode but I can't access flash mode. pc said that device not recognized. so, I think it is device error.

Bricked my phone - please help!
Hi,
I think I bricked my Xperia S. I already had cyanogen 10 on my phone, so I thought I could just flash the new Cyanogen 11 4.4.2 ROM and GAPPS over top. I followed the instructions but I skipped the Fastboot step. I cleared the cache and system and then went ahead with the ROM and GAPPS. Once the ROM and GAPPS were installed, I selected "Reboot" and the phone turned off and now it won't boot at all. If I hold the power button, I get a faint vibration and if I hold the up volume and power I get the 3 vibration sequence but no boot. Please help!
This is what I was using:

Murphy's law is with me tonight. Tomorrow, I'm meeting someone who wants to buy my xperia P so tonight I plugged out my sim-card, deleted my stuff on the sd-card and did a factory reset. When I rebooted the device to check if indeed everything was deleted, my pc didn't recognise the device. I tried on an other pc but no reaction. I hear the connecting sound and get a notification on the pc that says "usb device not recognised". I tried installing the drivers via SUS but that didn't change anything. I then tried if my sim-card worked but the device gives a notification: the simcard could not be recognised. My simcard is working correctly as it works in an other cellphone. I then thought I could install titanium backup to search for an old backup but I can't even get the wifi going. I also installed other roms but I can't mount /system. The device I have is rooted and unlocked.
Could you help me solve this issue?
Can't understand the problem exactly, is the device booting? If it is what does it mean you cannot mount system?
You also say you have installed other roms, that require mounting of system.
What FW is installed?

The device was booting but now it's stuck on the Sony image (before the loading image)
The problem is: the device doesn't recognise any simcard. I can't turn on wifi nor does the pc recognise my phone.
When in CWM (when I try installing a new rom that was already on the phone's sd-card beforehand) I can't mount /system.
I can pick a ftf from my sd-card to install a rom but afterwards the problems stay the same: no sim, no wifi, no usb connection possible.

After a lot of cursing and sweating I managed to get it in fastboot, install an ics ftf and now it's updating via pc companion (wifi and pc connection work as before). The only problem that still exists now is the fact that the device doesn't recognise my sim-card. I checked if I didn't put it in the other way around but it's in the right position. I'm sure the sim works because I tested it in another cellphone.
Thanks a lot for helping me
I have never flashed FW with fastboot only kernels.
Maybe it have flashed, TA partition which is normaly not flashed?
Lets see after the update.

I'm sorry it was in FlashMode The update gives me an error but somehow after I rebooted, the sim is now recognised :s
The only problem now is that I'm stuck in JB but I'm doubting to try anything else.
This cellphone has been nothing but random misery to me for the past 6 months The problem with the randomness is that I can't show it to the service centers (they keep on telling me they can't reproduce the problem).

Hi there, I have a problem. I flashed a ROM and i guess it also flashed a kernel, while im on a locked bootloader... uh oh. The phone can still charge the battery and I get to the SONY logo but nothing after that.
I have tried plugging in a USB cable with VOL - but then windows tells me it cannot recognize the device. I have installed the flashtool drivers and PC companion drivers but no go. Any help would be appreciated.

It's hard to remember, my phone was in for repair for an entire month, but because of one chip on the back plate they deemed the issue a physical problem and didn't cover it under warranty.
I think I was trying to flash back to eXistenz but I believe I flashed a kernel by accident, slip of the hand I guess. I went to restart the phone and it became frozen on the SONY logo. The phone is LB. I just need a fix!

i think Envious_Data is right, flashing a stock .ftf with flashtool should fix your problems as flashing wrong kernel shouldn't hard-brick your phone, only soft-brick.
But since you can't get your phone properly recognized on the pc you either have a bricked motherboard (i don't think that's the case) or you are having driver issues on the pc (most likely). maybe try flashing on windows xp?
I agree with the above
